Chapter 71 Dried Fish

"Why?!!"

Tang Qiyue looked at the thing in her hand and subconsciously wanted to catch up with the girl to return it, but was stopped by Shanhu.

"Don't chase her, that's Xiaoyang's sister, Skylark!"

After Shanhu's explanation, Tang Qiyue realized that the little girl was shy and was probably thanking her for the medicine she had given her before.

Tang Qiyue looked at the thing in her hand. It was a special shell, shining brightly. There was even a vague human figure on the shell. Upon closer inspection, it seemed like a fairy with fluttering clothes riding the wind.

Coral poked his head out to take a look and said, "This shell is very beautiful. Those little girls like it. They probably gave you their favorite one!"

After Tang Qiyue knew that this thing was picked up by Yunque at the beach, she didn't insist on returning it. Instead, she looked at the flowing light reflected in the sunlight and some thoughts emerged in her mind.

However, these ideas have not been fully finalized yet, so it is difficult to say for the time being.

She thought about waiting until she figured it out and seeing if she could earn some points, as she knew very well that some handicrafts were very valuable.

The two continued on their way.

Tang Qiuyue changed the water for the fish and shrimp and kept them in the yard. She planned to go to the woods to see if there were any wild vegetables or mushrooms that could enhance the flavor of the hot sauce.

Coral has obtained her mother's consent today and said that she would like to follow Tang Qiyue. It would be much safer for the two of them to keep each other company. Besides, Coral was born and raised on the island, so she can ask her directly about many things on the island.

When Shanhu learned about Tang Qiyue's goal, she said, "There are no such things in the grove. If you want to dig wild vegetables, you need to go to the valley, where they are nourished by mountain spring water. If you want mushrooms, you also need to go there, but there are very few edible mushrooms!"

The most abundant product on the island is seafood, and other outputs are very rare. Even if there is any, they are all collected by the people in the fishing village.

As soon as Tang Qiyue heard this, she knew there was no hope, but she was not discouraged. She had planned to go out for a walk anyway. It would be best if she could find something, but if not, it didn't matter.

The two of them carried backpacks, and along the way Shanhu told Tang Qiyue about things in the fishing village, and Tang Qiyue told Shanhu about the outside world.

Because the fishing village has special people who want to go ashore to exchange supplies, a girl like Coral can only go out once a year.

One can imagine the desire to be outside.

Tang Qiyue picked up some interesting things and told Shanhu, and the two of them talked and laughed. Although they didn't gain much as Shanhu said, they were probably very happy because they exchanged a lot of information.

At noon, Tang Qiyue looked at the sun and prepared to go back.

Coral only ate two meals a day and was not in a hurry, but she remembered that Tang Qiyue had to deal with fish and shrimp, so she didn't pester her to continue chatting, but just made an appointment to crack oysters together in the afternoon.

When she got home, Zhan Zeye had not come back as expected. Tang Qiyue did not want to go to the cafeteria to trouble the one-eyed uncle, so she fished out four sea cucumbers, cut them into thin strips, and steamed them with the eggs that were sent to her to make a sea cucumber egg custard, and placed a large conch under the grate of the pot.

Because she was not sure whether Zhan Zeye would come back for a snack, Tang Qiyue decided to save trouble by steaming a few large steamed buns that were left over from before.

After stuffing a few pieces of wood at the bottom of the pot, Tang Qiuyue began to pour a bucket of fish and shrimp into the basin and started cleaning it.

Small shrimps don't need to be processed much, but small fish do need their internal organs squeezed out.

This speed is still very fast.

When the food was ready, Tang Qiyue had already prepared a pot of fish and shrimp. Seeing that Zhan Zeye had not come back and the weather was hot, she was not in a hurry to eat, so she took out the food and put it aside to dry.

I cleaned the pot, put a thin layer of oil on it, spread the processed fish in the pot, and slowly heated it with the residual heat from the bottom of the pot.

After the food cooled down, Tang Qiuyue poured the sauce she had prepared on the steamed sea cucumber egg.

The small fish in the pan were fried until both sides were golden brown, and sprinkled with a handful of fine salt mixed with five-spice powder. The aroma instantly made people salivate.

Tang Qiyue had just put the dried fish on the plate when Zhan Zeye opened the door and came back. He thought Tang Qiyue had finished eating, so he came back to take a look before going back to the office, but when he smelled the delicious food, his stomach started to growl again.

"What are you cooking that's delicious?"

Zhan Zeye took a look, reached out and grabbed a small dried fish and put it into his mouth. This thing was fresh out of the pot, fresh, fragrant and crispy, and no one could resist its temptation.

"There are also steamed buns. Don't just eat the dried fish!"

Tang Qiyue handed Zhan Zeye a steamed bun. She knew that Zhan Zeye must have eaten, so this was originally prepared as a snack for him. If she was alone, a steamed sea cucumber egg would be enough!
Zhan Zeye didn't waste any time, just sat down and started eating.

The two of them didn't say anything and just ate.

Tang Qiyue was full after eating only one steamed bun, and the rest was eaten up by Zhan Zeye. Tang Qiyue ate a large conch and watched Zhan Zeye eat small dried fishes one bite at a time.

"You can't even eat enough, so your soldiers can't even eat enough, right?"

Tang Qiyue handed a piece of conch meat to Zhan Zeye's mouth. Zhan Zeye didn't expect Tang Qiyue to feed him. Although he was not used to it, he opened his mouth and ate it.

My own wife feeds me, why should I refuse?

After eating it happily, he then pinched a small piece of dried fish to grind his teeth.

"They definitely won't be full, so after training they will go to the beach to fish and collect shells. Finding ways to feed themselves is also a lesson they must learn!"

Zhan Zeye said it casually, but Tang Qiyue knew that this was the only way.

That is to say, they are on an island and have the sea as their reserve. If they were inland, hunger would probably be the main problem.

"I'm going to make some hot sauce and send it to Xiaoyuan during dinner time. Come back early and accompany me!"

Tang Qiyue did not ask any further questions, but instead made a request.

Zhan Zeye had eaten the meal prepared by his wife, so he didn't feel like refusing and of course he agreed.

Looking at his watch, the time was up, so he had to go back to the office to get busy. Seeing Tang Qiyue entering the kitchen again, he simply took away all the remaining dried fish on the plate.

"Wife, don't get too tired. My brother-in-law doesn't need this. They have brought a cook to cook for us!"

Zhan Zeye gave some instructions at the door, and Tang Qiyue waved her hand to ask her to leave as she was going to start processing the peppers.

As soon as Zhan Zeye went out, he was caught by Hu Peng and Political Commissar Wu who had been waiting at the door for a long time. The two men snatched the dried fish from his hands without saying a word.

"I said you two are the reincarnation of starving ghosts? Haven't you already eaten? Why are you stealing my dried fish?"

Political Commissar Wu and Hu Peng each stuffed a small dried fish into their mouths.

"Nonsense, you want to eat alone?"

The big pot meals in the cafeteria can only be guaranteed to be cooked, don’t ask for anything else.

Their wives would also give them snacks, after all, they went to the sea to catch seafood yesterday, but everything was cooked in a pot of water, with no cooking skills involved except for the freshness.

During the few minutes they waited at the door, they were already tempted by the aroma wafting from the yard and wanted to rush in to grab some.

"How can you eat alone the meal cooked by my wife? It's because you don't have a good wife."
