Chapter 74 I have tolerated you for a long time

Batman stood on the rooftop of a residential building, and the night wind blew his cape, making a loud noise.

Not far away, hundreds of pillar-shaped machines were running and emitting blue light into the sky, forming energy fields. The fortresses in the middle connected them to form a circular blockade line, preventing the yellow-green poisonous fog from spreading outward.

People who escape from the poisonous area, after passing through the energy field, have their flesh and blood disrupted and reorganized, their bodies gradually becoming metallized, and they become robots within a dozen minutes.

After being checked by Wayne Group members, those who are not carrying the virus will be released to a safe area and slowly return to their original appearance.

Those infected are detained in the energy field and are not allowed to leave the area covered by the energy field.

But as more and more infected people ran out, the energy field was already crowded and could no longer accommodate more people.

"I'll say it again, this is Gotham's own business. There is no need for the Sky Eye to intervene."

Batman looked at the woman standing before him, not trying to hide his disgust.

Amanda Waller, a woman who is more manly than any man.

She is a black woman with a military background. She climbed to a high position in the intelligence department step by step, not because of her political correctness, but because of her ruthlessness.

Even the toughest man will become unrecognizable after being in Amanda Waller's hands, and will beg to tell her all the secrets in his head.

Relying on ruthless means and loyalty to her superiors, she squeezed out veteran Steve Trevor and secured the position of head of the Sky Eye. In recent years, she has been fighting for power with other departments like a mad dog.

Amanda Waller had a bulging belly, not because she was pregnant, but because she was too fat, and the buttons on her clothes looked like they would burst at any time.

"Long time no see, you seem more human?"

Amanda Waller looked at Bruce with interest. This man was not one who would show his emotions easily.

"If that's all you came here for, you can get out now."

With the lives of hundreds of thousands of people at stake, Batman had no intention of playing coy with Amanda Waller and went straight to the point.

"I came here on orders from my superiors. There has been such a serious infection incident in Gotham. If the Joker's venom spreads into Gotham Bay, the entire United States will suffer."

Amanda Waller spoke righteously and looked loyal to her country and her people.

"I repeat, this is Gotham's business, and we can solve it ourselves."

Batman felt a little uneasy, not because of the city center covered by poisonous fog, but because of Martin.

Every time the plan reached a critical moment and required risking lives, he would coax Dick and the others to leave and take the risk himself.

Gotham is our own city, how can we let an outsider take such a risk?

Batman would never allow such a thing to happen before his eyes.

"What are you capable of solving this crisis? The entire center of Gotham City has been attacked by terrorists, and hundreds of thousands of people have become infected. How are you going to solve this problem, Mr. Dark Knight?"

There was a hint of mockery in Amanda Waller's words. As a bureaucrat, she hated these uncontrolled vigilantes.

But after her repeated actions against Batman failed, her compromising side emerged and she chose to ignore him.

Now that she finally had the opportunity to intervene in Gotham, the joy in her heart was so unbearable that it almost jumped out of her chest.

But before achieving final victory, she controlled her emotions and physical reactions and did not reveal any flaws.

Amanda Waller looked past Batman, and her excellent eyesight allowed her to see the special energy field that almost illuminated the sky, the crowded robots, and the infected people moving in the yellow-green poisonous fog.

One, two, three...

She counted the blurry shadows silently in her mind and straightened her chest unconsciously.

It was as if those shadows were not living beings, but merely toys for her to manipulate at will.

Staring into the abyss for too long, Batman saw through Amanda Waller's twisted psychology at a glance.

There are too many people like her in Gotham, and there are a lot of perverted lunatics in Blackgate Prison. The only difference between Amanda Waller and those criminals is that she has a better platform, which allows her to sell her conscience in exchange for more power.

"You are dismissed!"

Batman doesn't want to say another word to Amanda Waller.

He turned and walked toward the center of the city, trying to find Martin, to stop him, or to stand with him and bear the cost of preventing this disaster.

"Batman, don't be so..."

boom!
Batman suddenly turned around and punched Amanda Waller in the face.

"I've tolerated you, you fat pig, for so long!"

Her fat body turned 360 degrees in the air and fell heavily on the rooftop. She fainted with a thud.

The A.O.D. agent immediately drew his gun and pointed it at Batman, approaching him:

"Put your hands up, Batman!"

"Damn it, you actually dared to attack government workers. You are so brave."

"Gotham is a place full of crazy people like you."

The agents' voices were getting louder and louder, but they moved less and less, and some simply stopped moving.

Batman looked at these people and said only one sentence: "Welcome to Gotham!"

bang, bang, bang...

Gunshots rang out, and all the agents' hands and feet were pierced by bullets, and they fell to the ground wailing.

Gordon appears with his commandos and comes to Batman's side.

The captain of the secret service stared at Gordon and said, "You are a policeman, part of the American system, and you are mixed up with low-life vigilantes."

Gordon shook his head at the young man. "I'll keep this in mind when the city or state government gives the police department money."

"Take them all away and keep them in secret."

Amanda Waller was left alone, lying on the rooftop, exposed to the cold wind.

"Keep an eye on the people from the Sky Eye Society. When this is over, I will make Amanda Waller pay for what happened today."

Batman spread out his cape, the chest mark on the armor flashed, and a shadow covered his body, gliding towards the city center.

He silently prayed in his heart that Martin would not act so quickly.

But as soon as they entered the coverage area of the energy field, the ground suddenly cracked, and the tree roots that had been constantly breaking through the blockade line all shrank back.

The vines that were spewing out poisonous mist lost the support of their roots, quickly turned yellow and withered, and fell helplessly to the ground.

At the last moment, the vines bit the building like a drowning person grabbing the last straw and refused to let go no matter what.

But in the end, these life-saving straws failed to save the vines' lives, and instead they were dragged into the abyss.

When these giants fell to the ground, green grass grew, just like a coloring board. With a few strokes, the entire city center became a huge lawn.

In the midst of green, colorful flowers bloom, releasing fragrance and attracting bees and butterflies.

Low bushes, tall trees... in a short while, the city center turned into a primeval forest.

It's too late!
Batman saw Martin rising into the sky, his chest armor opening and flashing a blue light.
