Chapter 423: Merciful Martian Hunter

Chapter 423: Merciful Martian Hunter (Please subscribe, read, comment on the monthly ticket)

"You're not a member of the Justice League, how do you know this kind of thing?"

Martin's answer was so straightforward that Damian didn't know what to say when he wanted to refute.

If it was something from the Wayne Group, Damian could still use the fact that he was Bruce's son as an excuse.

But in the Justice League, there is no such thing as the son succeeding the father, not to mention that Bruce's generation is not dead yet!

If Damian joined the Justice League, he would be at most an ordinary member, and would not be qualified to say anything about the league's decisions, let alone monopolize the league's shared resources.

"I don't know how Lars taught you, but secrets are not small actions of three or two people hiding in a room, but the monopoly of one group over another."

Although Martin taught Damian a lesson, he also sincerely wanted to teach him something.

"Take this forum for example, it is something that is easily available to members of the Justice League, and there is no need to pay any price at all.

But those metahumans who are not members of the Justice League who want to get these will have to pay for them, or wait and use the outdated versions we release publicly."

"I thought you were a fair and just person."

When Damian heard Martin say this, he couldn't help but shudder, and goose bumps appeared on his skin.

“For us personally, most of the experiences shared in the internal forums of the League are very ordinary. But for the Justice League, if we don’t maintain such a relative monopoly, we can’t guarantee our advantage over the public, and we can’t accomplish what we want to do.”

Martin took Damian's ridicule in stride, but that was reality.

If Martin was really foolish enough to share everything he knew, it would not improve the living conditions of ordinary superhumans at all.

They say that public information will be taken and processed by those who already occupy a social advantage, so as to continue to maintain their superior status.

"The reason I tell you this is not to make you follow your grandfather and become some kind of mystical idol, but to help you better understand how modern society works."

Damian filtered out all of Martin's teachings and only remembered his views on society.

Martin also knew that a stubborn kid like Damian couldn't be easily convinced, so he didn't expect to convince him in a short period of time. He just wanted to plant a seed in his heart in this way.

As long as this seed can take root and sprout at the critical moment, that's enough.

……

Calvin Swanwick, or Ron Jongz the Martian, was surprised to receive another call from Alfred.

But the surprise that Bruce Wayne felt at the private call from his butler was soon overwhelmed by the even greater shock of what the other party said.

"General, the probe sent by the Justice League to the solar system discovered something interesting on Mars. Perhaps you will be interested."

In order to keep the secret, Alfred did not directly reveal the identity of the Martian Hunter, but instead hinted at it.

"It seems the Justice League has a better ability to detect liftoff than we thought. But are you sure they found something on Mars?"

Martian Hunter suppressed his inner surprise. He had not experienced emotional loss of control in many years.

After experiencing the disaster of the extinction of his tribe, he thought he would never have such emotions again in his life.

But the news brought by Alfred broke the meditation master's calm state of mind, which was as calm as a lake.

"A very important member of the Justice League has arrived in Washington. Perhaps General you would be interested in meeting with him and discussing these matters in detail."

When Alfred heard the other party's questioning, he knew that what Martin said was true.

"time and location!"

Alfred told Martin the time and place he had agreed to, and the Martian Manhunter hung up the phone.

Dick on the side couldn't help but say, "The one in charge is the best. We worked so hard running around, but the general didn't even want to see us. Martin just used one sentence to make the other party surrender."

Alfred looked at his eldest grandson helplessly: "I really don't understand why you and Martin are so angry. His attitude may be a little sharp, but there is nothing wrong with what he said."

"I just can't stand the way they act, as if they are the only two who are right in the entire Justice League. Everyone else should just do their job and not think about anything."

Dick's words were still spoken in anger, and it was obvious that he had transferred his attitude towards Batman to Martin.

Alfred had experienced decades of ups and downs, and of course he knew that Dick and Bruce were having a disagreement, which was a personal emotional conflict.

But the quarrel between him and Martin was a big deal.

Thinking of this, Alfred's original intention to plead with Martin slowly changed his mind and felt that it was not a bad thing for Dick to leave his current job.

……

The place Martin agreed to meet was the Lincoln Memorial.

There was nothing shameful about his meeting with the Martian Hunter. On the contrary, being more open would be more conducive to communication between the two.

“This place is so boring!”

Damian grew up in the League of Assassins and certainly has no feelings for such monumental things in the United States.

"I don't have any feelings about American historical figures, and this place is just so-so. It's really boring."

The Lincoln Memorial is built in the style of a Greek temple, with a circle of columns surrounding it, and the statue of Lincoln himself is particularly large.

If you are not interested in history, there is really nothing interesting to see in this place.

Damian looked around suspiciously, then said to Martin, "Master, you are having an important meeting with aliens, and I, a rookie, will not participate. I will go to the side to guard to prevent irrelevant people from disturbing you two."

"Come back to me."

Martin grabbed Damian's hat and pulled the kid back to him, lecturing, "Alfred must have told the Martian Manhunter in some way that we already knew his identity. When he came here to meet, he must have been cautious and aware of his surroundings."

"Wouldn't it be easier for you to be exposed if you hide aside and stare at us furtively?"

"Uh, okay!"

Damian felt that it would be better if his memory was checked quietly.

But he was worried that if he expressed this idea aloud, Martin would look down on him, so he just stood aside and didn't say anything.

As soon as Alfred hung up the phone, the Martian Hunter disguised as a black general appeared nearby.

He jumped out of thin air without any sound, but the people around him seemed not to see anything and continued doing their own things.

Damian saw this scene and couldn't help but tense up, his breathing quickening.

He couldn't help but wonder if his thoughts were seen through by the Martian in front of him, and if what he was thinking now was an idea implanted in him by the other party.

"My son, my honor does not allow me to do anything that affects the subjective will of an innocent person."

Martian Manhunter's eyes were fixed on Martin. Although he didn't know him before, the moment he appeared around the memorial hall, he was sure that Martin was the person he wanted to see.

In addition to the limited impact of his own abilities on this hot guy, the experience accumulated by the Martian Hunter over the years also played an important role.

But as he got closer to Martin, he was still unable to see through his entire heart, so he turned his attention to Damian.

"you……"

Damian stepped back subconsciously, but Martin grabbed his shoulder.

Martian Manhunter smiled and said, "You think too much. It's easy for a kid like you to see through it. Almost every race that knows the abilities of Martians will react like this when they see us for the first time."

"My name is Martin, and this guy's name is Damian!"

Martin took the initiative and reached out to Martian Manhunter.

The Martian Hunter did not hesitate at all. He also stretched out his right hand and shook hands with Martin, and did not continue to use his ability to test Martin's thoughts.

"When I heard the news from Alfred, I was very surprised. I didn't expect that there were people on Earth who knew about the existence of Martians."

"I thought I was going to meet Batman or Superman, but I didn't expect it to be a mysterious stranger like you."

Martian Manhunter doesn't mince words.

Martin did not hide it: "In fact, I have done a lot of great things in this world, but most people ignore the role I played in these things."

Martin spoke, and the dusty memories of the Martian Manhunter suddenly emerged.

Such a sudden mental fluctuation stimulated the Martian Hunter, causing his disguise to be exposed and his eyes turned red like gems.

But he was not angry because of these memories. When he looked at Martin, his eyes were full of curiosity and nothing else.

"I see. I never thought there would be someone like you in this world."

Martian Hunter felt that the distance between himself and Martin was shortened in an instant.

Perhaps it’s because both of them are outliers in this world in some sense.

Moreover, the Martian Hunters' tribe itself values peace and kindness, otherwise they would not have such powerful racial talents, but in the end only a few people were left.

"The world is always full of all kinds of accidents, and it is precisely because of these accidents that we have the courage and hope to live."

Martin had long been accustomed to this peculiarity and had learned how to take advantage of it.

But Martian Hunter hasn't done that yet. Even a master of meditation like him can't control his fear.

"You are indeed a very interesting person, but I believe that you did not invite me here to discuss life and philosophy."

Martian Manhunter subconsciously avoided this discussion.

"So if you want to know anything, just ask!"

"Apokolips is about to invade Earth, and we hope you can join the Justice League and provide relevant clues."

Martin said this very bluntly, but Martian Manhunter didn't care.

"No wonder the Justice League has been mobilized so frequently recently. It turns out that Apokolips has set its sights on Earth."

Martian Hunter muttered to himself, lowered his head slightly, thought for a while, then raised his head and said to Martin:
"Apokolips played a role in the demise of my race, but not much. Darkseid just wanted to test whether we have a copy of the formula, but we really don't know about it."

"Anti-Life Equation?"

Martin had never heard that there were fragments of the Anti-Life Equation on Mars.

"You know quite a lot, but it's not the anti-life equation but the life equation."

Martian Hunter realized Martin's specialness, but he didn't expect that he knew so many secrets.

"The Life Equation once stayed on Mars for a short period of time, but my ancestors were not interested in it and only recorded a few words. Darkseid's pioneers did not find what they wanted and left quickly. But the invasion of Apokolips pointed out the direction for another race in the universe, and there were also disagreements within our headquarters. All these reasons combined eventually led to the tragedy."

"The reason I came to Earth is to carry on the will of my people and pass on the principles of the Martians."

Martin respects the Martian Manhunter very much. In addition to his special abilities, what is more important is that he is very trustworthy.

In the original timeline, Martian Manhunter has always been one of the solid foundations of the Justice League.

"My condolences to the Martians for their tragic fate."

At least half of Martin's words were true. The Martians, as a race, possessed such powerful strength, yet were able to take the initiative to maintain a peaceful order and not invade others.

For this reason alone, what happened to them was an absolute tragedy.

"I believe that the famous Martian Manhunter in the universe would never watch the people of Earth suffer the same experience and be slaughtered by the artillery invasion of Apokolips."

"Of course I'd like to work with the Justice League."

Martian Manhunter is avoiding a question.

Martin was not willing to let him play dumb and continued, "I hope you can join the Justice League as Martian Manhunter and cut ties with the government to a certain extent."

"What do you mean? Is this alliance going to overthrow the government and take its place?"

Martian Manhunter's tone of voice was not intense, but his expression said it all.

This Martian has worked in the U.S. military for so many years. Although all his achievements on the battlefield were illusions fabricated by his abilities, it is impossible for him to have no feelings for the U.S. government and military at all.

"I wish the Justice League could replace the government overnight and create a better system. But unfortunately, this is just wishful thinking. It is impossible."

Martin even doubted that God might be able to do it.

Even if it is possible, it is only a temporary illusion, or it will completely freeze the era and leave no chance for progress.

"It's just that it's true that the U.S. government cannot lead the Earth to stop the attack from Apokolips."

"The Alliance has no intention of interfering in the internal affairs of the country, but in order to stop the attack from Apocalypse and minimize human casualties, changing the current global size is inevitable."

Martin didn't hide his thoughts.

Damian was surprised. He had been busy competing with Bruce and had never thought that the Justice League would have such an idea.

Martian Manhunter nodded: "If that's the case, I can consider your suggestion."
