Chapter 411 How to deal with the Mother Box

Chapter 411 How to deal with the Mother Box (Please subscribe, read, vote and comment)
There are no clouds at night on Paradise Island. Stars are scattered in the dark sky, emitting a long and leisurely light to this island protected by the gods.

Martin and Diana rode through the hills, the horses' hooves clattering on the ground, the night wind blowing past their ears.

Both of them enjoyed this kind of time very much. It was a rare thing for them to be able to temporarily put down their work and concentrate on enjoying the time alone.

Although they didn't say anything, their hearts were getting closer and closer to each other under the starry sky.

Soon they passed through the complex winding roads in the mountains and approached the plain where the Mother Box was guarded.

Before actually leaving the mountains, Martin saw a huge shadow standing on the ground, like a long dragon lying on the ground.

Even if you just watch from a distance, you can feel something heavy on your heart, as if you can't breathe.

Martin originally thought it was a defense facility like the Great Wall. When he got closer, he found that it was a series of bunkers built on the mountain, connected by expressways and tunnels above and below the ground. A large number of crossbows and artillery were placed there, aimed at the plains below the mountain.

Although it had been completely dark for quite some time, the soldiers in this defense system did not rest and were still monitoring the situation below the mountain.

"Isn't it a bit too far to build a bunker in the mountains? The plain should be quite large. If Apocalypse comes, we can't just wait for the demons to attack us from the bunker built on the mountain!"

Martin had no doubts about the Amazons' war technology. Even a fool could become a master in a few thousand years, not to mention that the Amazons were geniuses in war.

Diana slowed down her horse's pace so that the people in the bunker could see her and Martin clearly and not make a mistake and attack them.

"These bunkers were built all the way to the big fortress that sealed the Mother Box. Although the bunkers on the plains are relatively sparse, they were originally used to delay the battle. My mother had no intention of fighting a decisive battle with the Apocalypse army on the plains. As long as she could delay the battle until the Mother Box was transferred to the fortress, it would be enough."

"That's a good arrangement! It seems I was worrying too much."

Martin nodded and waved to the soldiers on duty at the sentry post to greet them.

The Amazon soldiers at the sentry post did not respond, but acted like stone statues, doing their job impartially and released them after confirming their identities.

"How can you say you're worrying too much? Paradise Island also has your share, so no matter how much you think about it, it's not too much."

Diana looked at Martin with a smile, and it was obvious that there was something else she was saying.

"What does this mean? I can't have any special connection to Paradise Island."

Martin could probably guess what Diana would say, but he still followed her lead and asked.

"I will be the queen of the Amazons in the future, and you will be the husband. Of course, part of Paradise Island will belong to you, too."

Diana enjoyed this ambiguous atmosphere. Although Martin was cunning, he was relatively simple in his emotions.

So when they were alone, Diana couldn't help but want to tease Martin and see him look embarrassed.

"I'd love to be your husband. But I have no interest in anything on Paradise Island. You should keep it for yourself!"

Martin cooperated with Diana in these intimate interactions.

As couples, you should be direct when it is necessary, and playful when it is necessary.

The purpose of finding a lover or partner is to heal the wounds in life so that you can live a better life.

But if you live your love life in a programmed pattern, with no soft spot in your life, you will only drive yourself crazy.

Although Martin had a strong will, he had no interest in torturing himself.

"I love hearing that. I'll blow you a kiss as a reward."

Diana winked at Martin, put her legs on the horse's belly, and the horse spread its hooves and began to run quickly across the plain.

Martin smiled and urged his horse to chase after Diana.

The two of them walked one in front and one behind, and although they didn't speak, they compared themselves secretly.

Martin's riding skills were no worse than Diana's. The two of them galloped along a road built on the grassland. They could see a bunker every few kilometers. Most of the soldiers inside had already rested, and only a few were still on duty.

When the sound of horse hooves reached their ears, the soldiers immediately became alert, but when they saw Diana, they gave up the idea of notifying others.

Even in a place like this, the Amazon soldiers knew Princess Diana.

They rode for a long time and when they reached the end of the road they saw the huge fortress built along the cliff by the sea.

The most eye-catching thing about this fortress is not its size, but the runes and images of gods carved on the outside of the fortress.

These magics are constantly absorbing the energy from the starlight, turning this huge fortress carved entirely from huge stones into a cage that is blocked inwards.

As Martin and Diana dismounted from their horses, soldiers from the fortress came out to greet them.

"Your Highness, long time no see!"

Diana was very surprised to see the person coming out to greet her.

"Ephenis, I didn't expect that the general stationed here would be you."

Diana excitedly introduced to Martin: "Epernes is a friend I grew up with, and we have a very good relationship."

"Although I am the general in charge of monitoring this place, I came here specifically for you."

Ephenes stretched out his hand and summoned an eagle. It seemed that someone was using an eagle to transmit information, which was in line with the tradition of Paradise Island.

"Two wings can fly faster than four legs. I think the Amazons should prepare more large flying monsters or flying props so that they can quickly transfer troops."

Ephenes's gaze quickly shifted to Martin. He stared at him and asked, "Is this your lover? He looks ordinary. It's hard to imagine that he actually forced the gods to retreat."

Amazons always speak their mind so bluntly, Martin was used to it and didn't take it to heart.

He just smiled and said, "As for forcing the gods to retreat, I just came up with an idea, and the execution is still done by everyone together."

"Okay, take us to see the Mother Box!"

Diana knew that Martin was always very kind in daily interactions and would only become unusually strict when it came to work.

"Oh my, I'm heartbroken now. I never thought that one day you would find a man."

Ephenes' thoughts were also what the other Amazons thought.

As a princess, Diana was a mortal who hunted down the god of war Ares. She was endowed with many divinities, so the Amazons could not imagine that their princess would have a lover.

Even though Martin had changed the fate of Paradise Island twice and the Amazons no longer saw him as an ordinary person, he still felt very awkward about Diana's affairs.

Martin also noticed their attitude, but he didn't know what to say.

He had already kidnapped Diana, so enduring a few Amazon complaints was a small price to pay.

Led by Epernes, Martin and Diana walked along the corridor into the fortress.

"This fortress is built entirely of huge stones. The runes carved on the surface can lock anyone in the fortress. Once the demons from Apocalypse come, we will activate the defense mechanism. The eight huge stone doors in this corridor will fall directly, and the entire fortress will fall into the deep sea, making it impossible for my colleagues to escape." Ephenes pulled his princess and explained the situation of the fortress in detail.

Martin was a step slower than them. He looked at the huge stone gate supported by the giant tree and gave a thumbs up to the warrior who was guarding the giant tree with a sledgehammer.

Then he stretched out his hand and pressed the wall. It was hard, but just an ordinary stone, nothing special about it.

"Aren't there any magical runes carved into the interior of this fortress?"

Martin raised a question, saying that simple stones could not stop Apocalypse's weapons.

Ephenes turned around and explained, "The purpose of building this fortress is not to trap the enemy to death, but to delay time and wait for the arrival of the army. So the runes outside are enough."

"Since we are trying to delay time, then we should delay as much as possible. Only by being prepared can we ensure that the Mother Box will not be taken away."

Martin spoke calmly, and his nonchalant manner made Epernes feel very unconvinced.

One important reason why they don't cast magic internally is that Amazon magicians are accustomed to simple and crude methods of casting spells, or prayer-style magic.

I can't handle anything too sophisticated, so this is all I can do for now.

"Man, don't just talk. It's not easy to give the fortress enough magic to resist Apocalypse. Do you think you are so powerful?"

Ephenis raised his eyebrows, thinking that this man was really talking without any worries.

"I came here today to deal with these things. If you don't mind, I can reinforce the defense of this fortress later."

Martin does not plan to transfer the Mother Box. The Amazons' protection is already perfect, and the only thing left is the issue of hard power.

If you can't win, you can't win. Changing places won't change this fact.

"Okay, let's take a look at the Mother Box first, then I'll trouble you."

Diana didn't want to see her lover and sister fighting, so she spoke up and interrupted their argument.

Although Epernes was dissatisfied, he obeyed Diana's orders and no longer doubted Martin.

As they walked through the corridor, they saw the Mother Box on the table. It was wrapped in brass, with the six sides each engraved with the holy light of the gods. It was unresponsive under the transparent glass window that looked like a fortress dome.

On the platforms on both sides stood soldiers who were responsible for guarding this important treasure.

Martin looked around. The space in the dome was not large, but there were hundreds of soldiers standing there.

"Mind if I take a closer look?"

Martin followed the host's wishes and asked politely.

"Why are you so polite? Do whatever you want."

Diana spoke, and the Amazon soldiers around her relaxed.

Martin took a few steps forward, stretched out his right hand, looked at the palm illuminated by the light, and muttered softly, "It's a bit of a waste."

This transparent dome can absorb the power of the sun, moon and stars in order to power the magic outside the fortress, but the efficiency of this ritual is not high and a large amount of light is lost.

He looked at the dazzling light and a preliminary plan formed in his mind, but he did not implement it immediately. Instead, he continued forward and reached out to pick up the mother box.

No response!

"It's strange. The broken Mother Box clearly sent out a signal, but why didn't these Mother Boxes react at all? Are Darkseid and his people so tolerant?"

Martin threw the Mother Box back to its original place, suspecting that Apokolips had already sneaked into the Earth through other means, otherwise the Mother Boxes on Paradise Island and Atlantis would not be so quiet.

Thinking of this, he temporarily lost interest in the Mother Box.

If it is just for research, the three mother boxes in the hands of the Justice League are enough.

Martin made such a fuss just to make something of the Mother Box, but now it seems that this matter is not that simple.

"Let's seal it up first!"

Martin blinked and made a quick decision in his mind.

He stretched out his hand and wrote and drew in the air, and the originally scattered light gathered together, golden sunlight, silver moonlight, and dreamy starlight like colorful gauze.

"The sun on high is watching us from the far sky;

The bright moonlight embraces us in its gentle embrace;
The dreamy stars reveal our destiny under the night sky. "

Martin hummed a somewhat messy tune softly, and runes flew from his fingertips, using three kinds of light to form different magic.

The scorching sunlight began to gather and fell along the top piece of glass of the dome, forming a column of light that wrapped the mother box inside, but did not damage the seal on the outside of the mother box.

The silver moonlight spread outward, falling on each soldier like a soft veil, providing protection for their armor, making their weapons sharper, and making them more energetic.

The colorful starlight extended in all directions and soon seeped into the thick stone walls of the fortress. As runes continued to fly out of Martin's fingers, the starlight and the stars echoed each other, connecting the illusions to each other and making the interior of the fortress blurry.

Even the Amazon warriors who were familiar with every corner here were unable to tell the direction because of the illusion.

Then, Martin took out the sandbag given by Morpheus and blew out a handful of dream sand, and the interior of the fortress returned to normal.

But this is still an illusion. Under the influence of the dream sand, all the illusions are connected together to form a special space, which will change the cognition of the creatures entering here.

"Now let's see if the old gods of Apocalypse can see through Morpheus' dream."

Martin smiled. He was confident in his own illusion skills and even more confident in Morpheus's dream sand.

“You are really amazing!”

Epernes watched Martin perform three large-scale magic spells with ease, and was instantly convinced.

Martin smiled slightly, and used the Dream Sand to condense a picture of the Mother Box, handed it to the general and said to her: "No matter when or where, as long as you reach your hand into this picture, you can take the Mother Box. But there will only be one chance, so grasp it well and don't waste it."

"The sun's rays will continue to spread, turning the fortress into a whole. The moonlight will provide protection for every warrior who enters here, and the starlight will distort the enemy's perception."

"Thank you!"

Martin's thoughts were so thoughtful that Epernes didn't know what to say. He could only remember Martin's instructions and then inform his soldiers.

"This is all I can do for now."

But the best way to deal with it is to keep them under safe surveillance until Martin figures out how to use the Mother Boxes.
