Chapter 4: Not knowing that you are stupid is the greatest sin
"I was hired by the Wayne Group to investigate the theft at the museum. Someone should have informed you."

Martin was not in a good mood towards Andy, who insulted his subordinates at will.

Andy's attitude didn't change. He still smiled flatteringly. "This museum originally belonged to the Wayne Group. I'm just an employee. When something like this happens, no one wants to solve the case as soon as possible more than me. If you have any requests, just let me know. I will do my best to meet them."

"Ask me not to."

Martin waved the machine in his right hand and said calmly: "But I want to take this thing away."

Andy's eyes widened, and hesitantly said, "I know you are a famous detective, Mr. Martin, but this is... too... You should at least take a look at the riddle left by the Riddler, right?"

He seemed not to want to offend Martin, but was also worried that the case would not be solved.

Even if you are a detective, you can't be so perfunctory!

Martin shook his head and said, "What era is this now? With the technology, there is no need to guess riddles. That would be stupid."

The actual situation was that he had already read the internal police intelligence provided by Gordon before he came, and already knew the situation at the scene, including those riddles.

According to the staff on duty at the museum, the museum's security system is a system produced by the Wayne Group. It is very special and once it is turned on, it will be completely locked.

Unless the timer expires, or someone holds the system key and unlocks it personally, it is impossible for others to access the collections quietly.

So Martin has two suspicions. One possibility is that someone has broken through this tight security system. Given the abundance of talent in Gotham, this is not impossible.

Another possibility is that there is a traitor. A fortress is always easy to be breached from the inside.

With stolen goods worth hundreds of millions of dollars, almost no one can resist the temptation even if the reward is one thousandth of it.

Andy rubbed his hands nervously, as if he was worried that this matter would affect him, and said to Martin pleadingly: "But the riddler usually leaves clues in the riddle, so this can't be said to be worthless!"

"That's just bait to lure prey into the trap. I'm just a detective, and my employer didn't set a deadline. Only those who have nothing better to do will choose the more dangerous path."

Martin held up the machine confidently: "And I am 100% sure that I can find clues from this machine."

Andy couldn't wait to ask: "What clue?"

"This has nothing to do with you."

Martin put away the machine and left the museum directly.

But after turning a corner, he went back into the museum's garage, installed a tracker on Andy's car, and then hid in a corner where he would not be easily discovered.

He never cared about machines in the first place.

If someone really cracked this security system from the outside, Batman and his team would definitely be able to find traces left by the other party.

But two days have passed since the incident and Gordon has not received any reminder from Batman, which makes Martin begin to believe that it was an inside job.

In such a large museum, Andy, who holds the system key, is the biggest suspect.

Considering that the other party had no criminal experience, Martin estimated that this might be his first time, so he just provoked the other party a little.

A few minutes later, Martin, who was hiding in the corner, saw Andy rush into his car with a panicked look on his face, and drove out of the garage with his foot on the accelerator.

Martin took out his tablet, connected to the Wayne Group's network, and began to monitor the other party's movements. He even heard the sound coming from the car.

"I don't give a shit about your plan. What I want is money. I'll leave after I get the money, or we'll die together. Don't forget that I hid the things..."

When Martin heard that this guy was actually going to ask the Riddler for money, he couldn't help but complain in his heart.

Another obsessed idiot.

Instead of running away at this time, he actually took the initiative to find the Riddler. What's the difference between this and seeking death?

Did he really think that the Riddler would abide by some code of integrity and still pay the money even though he had been exposed?
"What a fool. But if he weren't, I'd be in trouble."

Martin didn't have a car, and most importantly, he didn't know the traffic conditions in Gotham. So he left the garage, hailed a taxi on the side of the road, and reported the location where the Riddler and Andy were meeting.

"Hurry up, I'll pay three times the price!"

Faced with the three fingers extended by Martin, the originally lazy driver instantly became energetic, stepped on the accelerator, and the taxi flew out directly.

Martin was suddenly pressed against the backrest of the taxi seat and once again felt the wildness of the people of Gotham.

"Boss, see you next time!" When the car arrived at the destination, the driver waved money and waved to Martin enthusiastically.

"It's best if we don't meet again."

Martin dragged his somewhat weak legs and said goodbye to the driver who was driving very wildly, while Andy was still on the way.

The Riddler agreed to meet at a warehouse area near the port.

It's not time to get off work yet, and there are trucks coming in and out everywhere. Workers in orange vests are busy shuttling between the warehouses. From a distance they look like a group of ants, and it's impossible to tell who is who.

Martin randomly found a construction site at the door, stole a vest, disguised himself as an ordinary worker, walked into the warehouse area, found the warehouse that the Riddler mentioned, and discovered that there was already a group of armed gangsters inside.

To be precise, they were two gangs of gangsters who were trading arms, ranging from automatic rifles to rockets and all kinds of individual weapons.

"Killing with a borrowed knife!"

Martin spied on the transaction in the warehouse and immediately understood what the Riddler was up to.

If that idiot Andy really barged in foolishly, he would be met with countless bullets.

Martin didn't care whether this greedy guy was dead or alive, but he still held the whereabouts of the collection in his hands, which was what really mattered.

He figured if he moved faster, he could catch both the stolen goods and the Riddler.

Thinking of this, Martin quietly left the warehouse, found Andy in a suit among the traffic and workers, and walked towards him quickly.

Before the other man could react, Martin had one hand around his neck and the pistol in his clothes was pressed against his stomach.

"Don't move. The gun is pointed at your stomach. If you pull the trigger, a big hole will be opened in your stomach immediately."

"Mr. Martin, why are you here?"

Andy was so anxious that he was sweating profusely, but feeling the hard object pressing against his stomach, he didn't dare to gamble with his life.

Martin didn't waste time talking to him: "Of course it's for what you did."

"Maybe……"

"If you still have illusions about getting paid by the Riddler, then take a look at what's in this warehouse."

Martin didn't need to explain anything to this guy. When the scene of the arms transaction was put in front of him, the facts shattered his fantasy.

Andy is dumb, but not stupid.

He gritted his teeth and said, "I risked my life to do things for him, and that bastard actually wanted to destroy the bridge after crossing the river?"

"The Riddler is a mentally ill criminal. You're the one who deserves it if you think he'll keep his promise!"

Martin ruthlessly shattered Andy's last fantasy, grabbed his collar and pressed him against the wall.

"Where did you hide the things? Tell me the truth, and I can have you sent to Metropolitan Prison to serve your sentence and guarantee the safety of your family."

Andy finally realized that he had no way out, and finally surrendered to Martin and confessed everything.
