Chapter 404: Digging for Clues

Chapter 404: Digging for Clues
Wayne returned to the detective agency before dark, while Lina and Willy continued to stay in the college.

After selling all the ingredients that had been prepared, Chef Parker was urged by Lina to close down his stall. Then Lina went to hang out with Miss Olivia and the others who had just finished their class. It would probably take until midnight before she could find a chance to sneak into the college church.

The team of Inissa and Connor mainly investigated from the perspective of "medicine".

Since it is a non-compliant medicine, the source of the raw materials and the place where it was brewed seem worth looking for.

Today, Inesa mainly used the method of elimination. She first went to the local exorcism department and the pharmacy in the city of Georgeburg and other places to count the number of compliant drug purchases. No problems were found for the time being.
After going through all the "compliant" channels such as plans, we made a preliminary assessment of how big the possible "gaps" were, compared them with what we had investigated on Lina's side, and began to focus on visiting some places that might be "not so compliant."

The detective agency has been relatively quiet at night lately.
Ever since Mr. Baker turned into a zombie and died, Cohen Pharmaceuticals has not organized any attacks.

After the detective agency published the "call for clues" advertisement, although we received some letters, most of them were "spam".
Some people made wishes for Wayne to win a certain number of games, some criticized or praised the act of "open duel", and some asked when the detective agency would come out to sell lottery tickets and set up a stall again, as the food they sold before was very good.

After Wayne knew the status of Inissa and Lina, he felt a little more secure recently.

I plan to observe for a few more days. If everything remains fine, I will consider lifting the detective agency's collective nighttime alert and return to "normal."

As for continuing the public duel,
If Cohen Pharmaceuticals really temporarily withdraws from Virginia, Wayne can only issue an announcement that "there are no more goals to challenge", and then calculate the amount and prepare to distribute the prizes and end it.

On the contrary, the new steam train security contract that was about to "fly away" finally "ran back" on its own.

Therefore, the detective agency's second "office" began to enter formal preparation.

Since Ryan's "First Office" has been doing well recently, after the news came back, many agents now have no objection to the fact that they "may be assigned to the office" and are basically in a state of "obeying the assignment".
Wayne was having a headache, not knowing how to allocate manpower this time.

The departure time of the staff of the second office must be as soon as possible after the matter of Pastor Pycelle is "solved".
That is to say, we should strive to resolve the matter preliminarily within one month.

The focus of Pastor Pycelle's work is on investigation, but the cleanup can be left to the church itself. Quality manpower is more important than quantity.
If we have a rough idea by then, we can let some of the agents from the office go first.

Wayne made a list of all the current members of the detective agency and was drafting a plan.

Unexpectedly, the person who was most enthusiastic about the "new office" was Liam, who was still a "captive". It could be said that he smelled the scent and came over to volunteer.

This guy's recent performance is actually pretty good. His frontal combat capability may not be too strong, but if he shoots from behind in actual combat, his survival rate will not be too low.
I just feel that this guy is not very reliable... maybe someday he will turn around and "sell" the detective agency just like he sold Cohen Pharmaceuticals.

However, seeing that Liam was trying hard to get it, Wayne did not reject him directly for the time being.

I plan to go back and ask Lina if she is sure she can track the traitor over a long distance before making any further considerations.

This gave Wayne a little inspiration.

Ryan was tired of staying there before, so with the establishment of the new office, the staff will be rotated a little bit.
Arrange a few people to go to the previous office, and have a few people come back from there. In this way, both offices will be "half new and half old". It is estimated that the work will be carried out much more smoothly, and there will be no need to "start from scratch" for everything.

As for Ryan, his previous request was "I hope the detective agency will send someone to take over his job."
Then arrange for someone to take over his position as the head of the "First Office". After Ryan comes back, he will be sent to set up the "Second Office"... Rounding it off, it can be said to be the best of both worlds.

With this allocation, the detective agency's "headquarters" is once again short of manpower.

Wayne planned to ask everyone to mobilize their acquaintances, for example, to ask Inessa and Connor to write again to ask in Kankers City if there are any idle partners.

……

It was just midnight when Lina returned in the carriage.

The situation she found after sneaking in was not very optimistic. The academy church now had a kind of open-minded attitude of "guard against gentlemen but not villains".

There was no one inside after nightfall, and the guards on duty basically only patrolled the periphery of the church. The inside sounded as if the situation was weaker than Reverend Pycelle's kidneys, so naturally no valuable evidence was found.

Wayne guessed that it was probably because of his last infiltration that "alerted the enemy".

Maybe the "Mrs. LaLaurie" had never broken into the college church at all, and it was all destroyed by the old man, Reverend Pycelle, in order to destroy the evidence.

There are no clues in the college church for now, so if we want to continue looking for evidence, we have to dig in more difficult places.

The detective agency currently has two directions to explore. One of them is to search the residence of Reverend Pycelle.

Wayne knew there were at least two places. One was actually in the courtyard of the college church. It was the collective "dormitory" of the church clergy. It was not connected to the "main body" of the college church, but many people were there at night, so it was impossible to search in the middle of the night.

The other place is in the urban area of Georgeburg. It is said to be a mansion with a small courtyard. You have to ask where it is exactly.

It would be best to confirm the location of Reverend Pycelle in the next few days and then search somewhere farther away to create some time difference.

As for another direction that can be explored, it comes from the will that Wayne and Lina accidentally found before.

In his will, Reverend Pycelle designated many things as gifts to other people, and some of the names of these people overlapped with those who had been taking drugs in the college church for a long time.
In comparison, the most suspicious thing now should be on Reverend Pycelle, which is what he called "the pendant he wears every day."

Well……

Originally, secretly putting on a "sack" and stealing peacefully was also a solution.
But considering that Wayne had previously stolen those potions from Reverend Pycelle, even if they were sent to the cathedral, they were not able to identify the problem directly.
The risk of doing so seems a little too high... Wayne has seen with his own eyes the old man's ability to turn the tables.

The cathedral itself did not show up.
It would be best if the detective agency did not get caught in this matter.
