Chapter 218 Lupin's Choice
Chapter 218 Lupin's Choice
"Thank you, Sirius." Lupin looked at his friend, "But I still want to learn about the second treatment first."
"Why?" Sirius asked in confusion, "You know I don't care about that little bit of gold! And the first method sounds safer!"
"But I care, Sirius." Lupin was still smiling, but underneath his smile was a firm self-esteem. "Besides, how can I tell which option is better if I haven't even heard the specific situation?"
Sirius looked at Lupin steadily for a while, then compromised and said, "Okay... but I have to follow you in case you do anything stupid."
Lupin looked at Ivy with a questioning look, and the latter clapped his hands and said, "Very good, since you all want to know the details of the two lycanthropy treatments I proposed, this is not a very appropriate place. Follow me."
The Tome of Destruction appeared in Ivy's hand, and the golden lock suddenly opened. As the pages turned quickly, the page containing the Room of Requirement flew up and stuck to the wall of the ward.
An ordinary wooden door appeared on the blank wall.
Ivy closed the Grimoire of Destruction, gently pushed open the door, and said to the stunned duo of robbers, "Come in."
Sirius and Lupin looked at each other and walked inside, and Ivy closed the door behind them.
The first thing that caught their eyes was a spacious hall filled with various luxurious furniture. The walls were decorated with famous paintings and gilded lamps. The lights in the hall were bright but not dazzling, making people feel comfortable.
After a loud bubbling sound, a furry dwarf in a sophisticated butler's uniform appeared in front of Lupin and Sirius, bowed and introduced himself: "Beanie Bobby, at your service!"
"Wow!" Sirius was shocked. "This is amazing. What... uh... are you?"
"Doudou is the house-elf serving Master Doom!" Doudou said proudly, puffing out his chest. "He is also the butler of this house. He is responsible for receiving Master Doom's guests and is always ready to meet their requests!"
"Doudou just started working for me a few days ago. He looks very different from other house-elves, right?" Ivy took off his robe, revealing the wool vest and shirt underneath, and Doudou flashed to his side to catch it.
"Doudou is the one who has made the most progress in his studies!" Doudou took credit for it to Ivy. "Even Diego said so!"
"Well done, Doudou." Ivy reached out and patted his shoulder. "Okay, now please get me and my two guests, Mr. Black and Professor Lupin, something to drink. We have business to discuss, so we won't drink wine. Sirius, Lupin, tea or juice, which one would you like? Or, I have milk here too?"
"Orange juice then." Sirius was not polite at all. He had already started looking at the marble statues used as decorations in the hall.
Ivy looked at Lupin, who said without much thought, "It's up to the host."
"Very good, a glass of orange juice and a pot of black tea." Ivy said to Doudou, and then handed him the glass bottle containing Rita Skeeter. "Inside is a wizard who turned into a beetle. She is my prisoner for the time being. Just don't let her escape from the bottle."
"Yes, sir! Master Doum!" Doudou took the glass bottle and disappeared in a flash.
"Come on, let's go to the living room. The sofas there are great." Ivy came to the left side of the hall. A door squeezed out from the middle of the wall. He grabbed the door handle and turned it, and a living room with many soft sofas appeared.
"The way this door appears is exactly the same as some classrooms in Hogwarts!" Sirius shouted excitedly and walked in first.
When the three people's buttocks finally found their place on the soft sofa, Lupin asked: "Can you please tell me in detail now, Mr. Doom?"
"Okay, then I'll tell you in detail." As soon as Ivy finished speaking, Doudou appeared beside the three of them with a tray. He poured tea for Lupin, put the sugar bowl and milk jug aside, then bowed and left.
Ivy picked up the teacup and continued, "I believe you both heard it in the school hospital just now. My first method is to use the Philosopher's Stone to cure lycanthropy. As for the Philosopher's Stone, it is an alchemical creation. The Philosopher's Stone that Nicolas Flamel kept in Dumbledore's place is its predecessor. Last year, Voldemort possessed his followers and served as the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor in Hogwarts for half a year, just to get the Philosopher's Stone so that his followers could create a body for him."
"Voldemort?" Sirius almost fell off the sofa as he picked up his orange juice. "He's still alive?"
"Dumbledore and I both think he's not dead, but he's not alive either." Ivy cast a spell to clean up the orange juice that Sirius spilled on the table. "He's not our main problem right now, so we don't have to worry about him for now."
"Later, I got the Philosopher's Stone from Dumbledore and studied it. Finally, I made my own Philosopher's Stone based on the Philosopher's Stone. It can't make people immortal like the Philosopher's Stone, but I have given it more magical properties. It is a panacea that can cure all curses and diseases." Ivy spread out his palm, and the irregular gem shining with bright red light was in his palm. "Because the Philosopher's Stone can convert base metals into gold equivalent to 10,000 gold Galleons, I priced it at 10,000 gold Galleons."
"Very reasonable." Lupin nodded slightly. "What about the second option?"
Ivy put away the Philosopher's Stone and continued, "As I said, the second option focuses on strengthening the connection between the lycanthropy curse and your own magic. Of course, this is just my idea, which needs to be studied and demonstrated."
"If you choose this option, I will study the moment of your transformation into a werewolf in depth, and try to find the connection between the lycanthropy curse, the moon, and yourself. I envision using ancient magic to turn this curse into a gift of yours, allowing you to freely control this change, just like Sirius' transformation into an Animagus form."
"Of course, this method has certain risks, and it is entirely out of my curiosity about lycanthropy. So if anything unexpected happens during the experiment, I will use the Philosopher's Stone to protect your life. If the experiment ends in failure, I will use the Philosopher's Stone to remove the lycanthropy curse for you for free."
"So..." Lupin picked up the red teacup tremblingly and said slowly, "The second method has the risk of failure?"
"Yes, I don't deny it." Ivy said, "Do you need me to give you some time to think about it?"
"If," Sirius looked at his friend, "I mean 'if', Remus chose the Philosopher's Stone, can you heal him now?"
"Of course." Ivy put the teacup back on the table, "But the wolfsbane potion he drank before will be wasted."
"Remus?" Sirius looked at his friend again.
Lupin leaned back on the sofa, his eyes fixed on the chandelier above his head.
No one spoke, waiting for Lupin to make his choice.
"Hu——" After a long while, Lupin let out a long breath.
He stood up and said to Sirius sincerely: "Thank you, Sirius, I owe you a lot..."
Sirius grinned and followed Lupin in looking at Ivy.
"I choose the second one." Lu Ping said calmly.
"What? Haven't you heard that saying? Free things are the most expensive!" The one who reacted the most was Sirius. He was ready to go back to the Black family house and spend all his money. Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to sell his father's land. "I believe in him, Sirius, and Dumbledore believes in him, and Harry too." Lupin calmed Sirius's anger with just one sentence.
"…Okay," Sirius said tiredly, "but I want to be there. I want to be there for every treatment."
Lupin looked at Ivy, and the look in his eyes clearly meant "If this doesn't work, I'll find another way to fool him."
Ivy smiled and said, "Of course it's okay, Sirius. Let's start tonight. Lupin has already drunk the wolfsbane potion, so it's safe to transform tonight. I will record the whole process. The treatment will be once a month, on every full moon night."
"So in the end, you still need me to accompany you, Remus." Sirius said with a smile.
Lupin also laughed: "It feels a bit like yesterday all over again, doesn't it?"
"I'm beginning to miss the cool breeze in the Forbidden Forest, Remus." After saying that, Sirius drank the orange juice in the glass.
"There hasn't been a moment in the past twelve years that I haven't missed..." Lupin said quietly.
Seeing that the atmosphere in the Request-Granting Room was becoming sad, Ivy quickly changed the subject: "Look forward, gentlemen. Lupin will soon be free from the influence of lycanthropy, and Sirius will be freed from Azkaban. We all have a bright future."
"Yes, yes." Sirius wiped his eyes and asked, "Ivy, do you have any way to get me out of the hospital quickly? Lying in bed every day, I feel like my body is going to rust."
"You're just lacking in nutrition." Ivy glanced at his wrist, which had become skinny due to his long prison life. "Perhaps you can eat twice as much food at each meal, and then ask Professor Snape to prepare some potions to aid digestion?"
"I'd rather lie in bed," said Sirius disgustedly, "I'd better go back to bed quickly. I have to face another furry Lupin at night."
"I also have classes in the afternoon, so I won't bother you any more." Lupin also got up from the sofa and said goodbye.
"Then let's meet at the school hospital in the evening. My Room of Requirement can avoid all unfavorable factors." Ivy's proposal was unanimously agreed.
Then Ivy snapped his fingers, and the butler Bobby flashed to everyone's side and asked politely: "What can Doudou do to help?"
"Help me get Mr. Black and Professor Lupin out," Ivy instructed.
"Yes, Master Doum!" Doudou stretched out his furry hand and began to lead the two.
The two visitors left the Room of Requirement, and Ivy finally had time to deal with Rita Skeeter, who was imprisoned in a glass bottle.
The Room of Requirement is a magical place. Even if what Ivy needs is a dungeon, it can meet Ivy's requirements excellently.
In addition to various iron cages with padlocks in the gloomy dungeon, there are also many unique torture instruments, including rusty iron chains hanging upside down from the ceiling; iron maidens with many shining blades inside; iron beds covered with spikes; crosses used to restrain prisoners; charcoal furnaces that can heat red-hot irons; and even whips with barbs.
Iveco had never known that these torture instruments had been used at Hogwarts in the past.
After shaking out the big beetle from the glass bottle, a blonde woman wearing strange glasses immediately appeared in the dungeon.
This person is Ivy's prisoner, the prying Rita Skeeter.
Rita slumped on the ground, and every time her eyes swept over a torture instrument, her lips trembled and her body hunched a little.
It wasn't until she finished looking at the last piece that Ivy spoke. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Skeeter."
Ivy's voice reminded Rita of her situation. She rushed over and hugged Ivy's feet, crying and shouting, "I didn't see anything... I didn't write anything... Please let me go, let me go!"
"Of course I will let you go, Ms. Skeeter." Ivy waved her hand, and an invisible force came, and Rita was thrown far away, "But the premise is that you can complete my request."
Rita stood up and quickly returned to her kneeling position, not even picking up her glasses that had fallen to the side.
"I'll do it! Of course I'll do it! Anything!"
"This is so boring, Ms. Skeeter," Ivy sighed. "I thought you were going to be as tough as you were on Tuesday, when I first met you."
To be honest, Ivy had thought of many ways to deal with her, including coercion, inducement, physical torture, and even mental control.
But now none of them are used, which is a pity.
As a tabloid reporter who deals with secrets all year round, Rita knows very well what kind of people she can and cannot mess with.
At least no one had ever seen her publish articles in the Daily Prophet that slandered pure-blood families, with the exception of the Weasley family.
Rita originally thought that Ivy was just a young man with talent but a shallow foundation. Even if he came from more than a hundred years ago, it meant that all his original interpersonal relationships were cleared to zero, so Rita didn't think there was anything terrible about Ivy.
She had originally planned to visit Ivy after collecting all the secrets about Sirius and Harry, but she didn't expect to be caught by Ivy in the ward.
"But you've saved me a lot of work, Ms. Skeeter." Ivy walked forward slowly, "So, I want to give you a little gift."
The silver lime tree wand touched Rita, and she immediately began to wail.
Ivy had placed a curse on her, a curse that could be chained by a green lightning-shaped spell at any time.
"You don't want to know what kind of black magic I cast on you, Ms. Rita." Ivy said softly, "Now, let's talk about work, shall we?"
