Chapter 214 Harry and Poppy
Chapter 214 Harry and Poppy
breakfast time.
Harry didn't feel particularly hungry because Professor Lupin had brought him a large bag of candy last night, saying it was a gift to celebrate his victory.
But the Quidditch season had not yet begun, and Harry had not won any new victories in the new year.
Although confused, Harry accepted the candy, mainly because Professor Lupin put it down and left, without giving Harry a chance to refuse.
Harry spread jam on his bread and poured himself a bowl of milk. Just as he was about to try today's raspberry jam, Ron, who was sitting next to him, suddenly elbowed him.
"Here comes Wood," Ron whispered.
It must be for Quidditch practice.
Harry sighed. Normally their training would take place before breakfast, and only on weekends would they have tactical discussions, in short, meetings.
Moreover, this kind of meeting usually has little to do with the Seeker. The most common instruction Harry heard was "Fly faster! Fly higher!", and at most "You have to confuse him with your movements!"
"Don't forget to hold the tactical discussion in the common room after dinner." Sure enough, Wood stopped when he passed by Harry and said to him.
"I'll be there soon!" Harry pretended to be very hungry and stuffed several mouthfuls of food into his mouth, almost choking.
If Wood could see that he was not very hungry, he would definitely take him back with him.
"Don't choke! We still have a chance to win the championship, and I don't want to miss the Quidditch Cup because of the absence of the seeker." Wood helped Harry calm down and poured him another glass of milk.
After watching Harry finish the milk in one gulp, Wood shook his head and left, not forgetting to add, "Remember not to be late!"
Harry, with his mouth full of food, could only wave at him.
After Wood left, Harry chatted with Hermione and Ron at the dining table for a while, then slowly got up and left, dragging his heavy legs towards the Gryffindor common room.
Turning a corridor, Harry met his nemesis Malfoy and his two followers at the corner.
Compared with Wood's tactical explanation, Harry felt that meeting Malfoy was not so annoying. At least they could always bring some "challenges" to Harry, and even if he missed Wood's tactical explanation, it could be said that he was tripped by Malfoy.
All of Gryffindor knew that they didn't get along, so this trick was sure to work.
Before Malfoy opened his mean lips, Harry spoke first: "What is it this time, Malfoy? Calling Colin to take a picture of me? Or did you find out that Professor Lockhart was nearby? Oh - I forgot, Lockhart is no longer a professor at Hogwarts."
Malfoy was stunned for a moment, and Goyle and Crabbe behind him looked at each other.
"Or maybe you want my autographed photo? Let me look for it..." Harry pretended to reach into his arms.
Malfoy's two not-so-bright bodyguards were simply puzzled by this: "Why does Draco want Potter's autographed photo?"
"I don't know - maybe it can be used as material for dark magic curses?" Crabbe suggested a possibility.
"I never wanted his autograph!" Malfoy growled at Goyle and Crabbe. "You two just shut up and stand there!"
"Okay, Boss." "Got it, Boss."
"What a pity, Malfoy, I forgot my autographed photo in my schoolbag. Do you need me to get it for you?" Harry pretended to be innocent and continued talking about the story of the autographed photo.
Ever since Lockhart was taken away from Hogwarts by the Aurors, Malfoy had rarely used autographed photos to harass Harry.
"Oh! Do you really think I dare not curse you? Potter!" A faint red appeared on Malfoy's pale face, and he was obviously angry.
"Of course I know you know a few special spells, but there is no professor in the school who can't see that you did it." Harry was not afraid at all. He recently discovered that every time he clashed with Malfoy, he always lost his temper first, so he was always punished. That's why he wanted to try Malfoy's strategy.
Besides, even if he failed it wouldn't be a big deal since his detention with Professor Snape would last until the end of the semester anyway.
"It seems that I am still too good to you, Potter." Malfoy continued to threaten, "Perhaps I should ask Ivy for advice and learn one or two dark magics from him that the professors don't know."
"Do I need to remind you? Ivy is my friend too." Ivy has always been a celebrity in the school. His privilege of not having to attend classes this school year has attracted the envy of many people, including Harry.
"Friend?" Malfoy sneered. "You're not necessarily Ivy's friend, Potter. Ivy brought a lot of candy from Honeydukes yesterday and distributed it to all his friends at school. Guess who didn't receive any?"
"Who could it be? Is it you, Goyle?" Crabbe had a strange expression on his face. He took out a bloody lollipop from his arms, licked it, and asked Goyle in a fake manner.
"How is that possible?" Goyle seemed to be greatly insulted and took out a chocolate frog with its head bitten off from his pocket. "I clearly received it! Look! Here's the evidence!"
"Okay." Harry sighed, a look of loss on his face, "I know who it is..."
Malfoy was about to start laughing when he noticed Harry suddenly take a step forward and put his hand into the inside pocket of his robes.
Malfoy was startled, thinking that Harry was going to take out his wand to challenge him, and he couldn't help but shout, "What are you going to do!"
As a result, Harry pulled out a licorice wand from his robes and stuffed it directly into Malfoy's hand, saying: "You are so pitiful, Malfoy, this is all I have left. Since you are also Ivy's friend, take it and don't tell others that Ivy didn't give you candy."
Malfoy stared at the licorice wand in his hand, and his facial features gradually became distorted: "Scarhead - Pott -!"
But before he could even call out Harry's name, Harry had already run away laughing: "No need to say thank you, Malfoy!"
"Where on earth have you been, Harry?" Wood, who was already in the common room holding a tactical meeting, asked the panting Harry.
"Oh!" Harry laughed and said the excuse he had thought of long ago, "I was tripped by Malfoy."
"You must have given him a good beating, right?" George asked eagerly. In order to learn Professor Victor's Pyroblast from Percy, George and Fred had not played any pranks for half a year. Every day now was a torture for them.
Although listening to other people's pranks can only be regarded as scratching an itch, at least it can satisfy your craving.
"Don't ask, George," said Fred jealously. "Just look at the look on Harry's face and you'll know he's done a great job."
In the following tactical meeting, Harry didn't hear a word, and his mind was full of Malfoy's distorted expression.
Thanks to Malfoy, Harry's good mood continued until Tuesday.
At breakfast time that day, Hermione spread a copy of the Daily Prophet on the table, eating an omelette while checking today's news. Harry learned a lot about the wizarding world from the Daily Prophet that Hermione had subscribed to. But most of it was praise for the Ministry of Magic and the Minister of Magic, plus some uninteresting trivia. Even last year's dark wizard Quirrell didn't get a spot on it. So Harry didn't read it much anymore.
"Oh my God!" Hermione pointed at a line of words on the newspaper and shouted to her two friends, "Look at this! 'The injustice of the century has been solved. Is the winner of the Order of Merlin, First Class, the culprit?'" Before Harry had time to lean over, he heard Hermione continue to read: "'Just last Saturday, a wrongful case spanning twelve years was solved under the wise leadership of Minister Cornelius Fudge. The victims were James Potter and Lily Potter, the parents of Harry Potter, who is known to all as having survived a catastrophe'!"
"What?" Ron asked blankly, "I thought I heard Harry's name."
Harry didn't miss a word and couldn't help but snatch the paper and read on.
Although most of the article is used to describe Cornelius Fudge's wisdom and bravery, the facts are still stated clearly.
Harry not only fully understood Peter Pettigrew's criminal process, but also learned that Sirius Black, who had been imprisoned in Azkaban for twelve years, had been freed and his reputation restored.
"Sirius Black is my godfather!" said Harry in shock. "No one ever told me that!"
"Look at this picture, he looks like the guitarist for the Weird Sisters." Ron exclaimed, pointing at the picture before he could even read the words on the newspaper.
"And he's currently at Hogwarts! Recovering his health under the care of Madam Pomfrey." The sharp-eyed Hermione saw the second edition of the article, which focused on Sirius' mental journey and pointed out a clear way for readers who wanted to write letters to comfort him.
Harry hurriedly stood up from the dining table and rushed to the school hospital without hesitation.
Apart from the Vernon family, Sirius, his godfather, might be his only living relative.
When he entered the school hospital, he found that it was already full of people, including Hagrid, who almost took up four seats, Professor Lupin with a pale face, Madam Pomfrey who was not very happy, and Professor McGonagall, the head of Gryffindor.
"I bet you'll be inundated with letters from all over the country, Sirius!" boomed Hagrid.
"How can you be so shameless as to leak the patient's address in the newspaper?" Madam Pomfrey was angry because of this.
Harry pushed the door too hard, causing it to hit the wall with a loud bang.
Everyone turned towards the door at the noise Harry made.
Harry ignored the gazes of others and just looked at Sirius.
"Hi..." Unlike the kind voice Harry imagined, Sirius' voice sounded very hoarse, "Harry."
"..." Harry didn't know how to address the man who had suffered so much. After thinking for a long time, he called out carefully, "Godfather?"
"Hahaha..." Unexpectedly, laughter suddenly broke out in the school hospital, and Sirius laughed until tears came down.
He held out his hand to Harry: "Come here, Harry, let me take a good look at you!"
When other people in the ward saw this scene, they all walked out tactfully, leaving the space for the two relatives who had finally met.
As he passed by Harry, Hagrid patted his shoulder encouragingly.
Standing outside the ward door, Lupin whispered to Hagrid, "Sirius sneaked out to Honeydukes to buy a present for Harry last Saturday, but when it came time to give it to him he chickened out, so I had to do it for him. Can you imagine, Hagrid? That Sirius..."
Hagrid said nothing, just stared behind Lupin.
The Defense Against the Dark Arts professor turned away, and both Professor McGonagall and Madam Pomfrey were staring at him disapprovingly.
"It was Sirius who suggested it...never mind..."
----
Ivy also received an owl on Tuesday.
The sender was the House-Elf Resettlement Office.
It told Ivy that the five young house-elves he had applied for were already in place, and they had agreed to meet in Hogsmeade at nine in the morning.
"If civil servants need your help, they will be incredibly efficient." Ivy put the letter away and ate his breakfast leisurely. It was still early before the agreed meeting time, so he didn't need to rush.
Five minutes to nine, Ivy arrived at the agreed location in Hogsmeade and spotted the civil servant with the house-elf at a glance, or to be more precise, the director.
"Thank you for your trouble, Albert." Ivy walked over and shook hands with Chief Nott, then looked at the five house-elves behind him.
These poor little ones were only wearing a sack and were shivering in the cold wind. Fortunately, they didn't wait long, at least Ivy didn't notice that any of the elves had a runny nose.
"Thank you for fulfilling your mission, Lord Doom." Director Nott stepped aside and introduced the house-elves. "They are all descendants of house-elves who have served pure-blood families. They are all very young. Two of the older ones have already started to receive cooking training, mainly French and Italian cuisine. If you have any additional needs, you might as well tell me now."
"What a surprise, Albert!" Ivy said. "I couldn't be more pleased."
"Very good." Nott turned to the house-elves and said, "From now on, Lord Ivy Doom will be your master."
The house-elves looked at Ivy carefully and nodded hurriedly.
"Next, just bring them to your residence, and the contract between the house-elf and the wizard will be officially completed." Nott said.
Ivy made an invitation: "Let's go for a drink! The Three Broomsticks will definitely welcome us."
"Thank you for your invitation, Lord Doom." Director Nott refused, "But no, there is still a lot of work to do in the department. I have to go back and continue to argue with those who are in charge of the fire dragons."
After watching Nott Apparate away, he turned around and looked at the five pitiful house elves with a kind smile: "Do you have a name?"
The elves announced their names one by one.
"Maomao." "Paopao." "Doudou." "Lulu." "Diandian."
"Just a first name, no last name?" Ivy asked.
"We don't deserve to have a surname, we are just servants!" Maomao, who looked the oldest, replied.
"No, no, no, you work for me. This is the biggest difference between you and other house-elves." Ivy shook his finger, "So I'm going to give you a last name - Bobby."
Damn it... I really can't write anything today...
Tomorrow I will continue to challenge the day...
