Chapter 155: Light of Dawn

Chapter 155: Light of Dawn
"I am the Phantom of the Opera, the true owner of this opera house!" the milky white ghost roared, "You are nothing but a thief and liar from England. I generously allowed you to watch the performance on my turf, but you challenged my bottom line again and again. You are courting death!"

"Christina! You don't want your sister to never wake up, do you?" The ghost bewitched Fleur, "Leave him! Come to me! I will let you dance in the temple of music forever!"

"Your promises are inconsistent. Before, you said you hoped to get a true love's kiss to be freed, but now you want to guide the lost lambs into the eternal music hall?" Ivy sneered, "You are just a mentally ill lunatic, a pathetic undead. Remove the magic attached to Gabrielle, and I will let you leave here. This is your last chance, ghost."

"Never! You have no idea what kind of existence you are about to offend. I am the Phantom wandering in the theater. Your end will be to dance to my singing until your feet break and you die of exhaustion!" The ghost raised his arms, and many milky white musical instruments like him appeared in the secret room. Judging from his posture, it seemed that he was preparing to conduct a symphony.

"Tarantella Dance!" Furong, who was kneeling beside the boat with her arm around her sister, took the initiative to launch the attack. She chanted a dance spell that could make the person hit dance uncontrollably. It was a spell with a controlling effect.

However, the silver light from the tip of Fleur's wand only passed through the ghost's milky white body, and then exploded a small spark on the wall behind him. Obviously, the dance spell was ineffective against a ghost.

"This is a shameful betrayal! Christina!" The ghost seemed to have never expected that Fleur would attack first. He floated in the air angrily, with a vicious light in his eyes. "It seems that I still need to teach you some etiquette. I have already prepared a wedding outfit for you!"

"You make me feel sick, Phantom of the Opera!" Furong said loudly, "No wonder Christina didn't choose you back then. It's not just your face that's ugly, but also your rotten, festering heart!"

If the real Phantom of the Opera was here, he would be so angry that he would come alive. Although Ivy didn't think the ghost in front of him was really the Phantom of the Opera, he was obviously very angry and even lost his ability to speak for a while. This was not normal for a master playwright.

"No matter what you say, you can't stop me!" The milky white musical instruments have lined up beside the ghost, looking ready to go, "I will play the elegy of hell and ring the evening bell for you! Remember this, it is because of your ignorance and arrogance that you have fallen into this situation!"

Ivy hooked his fingers, and the moonlight shining through the hole in the wall of the secret room seemed to be woven into silk threads by invisible fingers. These intertwined silk threads turned into a sharp sword shining with silver light.

This is a 2nd level Illusion spell, Shadow Blade. Its original effect is to transform dark shadows into a sharp sword, which can cause certain mental damage when hitting the target. However, under the influence of the Awakening Grimoire, Ivy has completely understood the arcane formula of this spell. He replaced the shadow magic in the spell with moonlight, which changed the damage caused by the blade from mental damage to light damage.

After the experiment on Tom Riddle's diary, it has been verified that both light damage and mental damage can be effective against souls. However, considering that Voldemort's body is not dead yet, and the ghost in front of him must be a mark left by a dead person, Ivy naturally chose the light damage that is more effective against undead creatures.

The silver-white sword made of moonlight is seen as a simple weapon with dexterity, lightness, and throwing attributes. Ivy magically gained proficiency with it, which means that Ivy can use it like a well-trained warrior.

The place where the moonlight was shining was originally where the small boat was parked. Now the boat was pulled to Ivy's side by magic, and the ghost was sandwiched between the moonlight blade and Ivy.

Ivy raised his arm, and the Moonlight Blade flew out as if it had sensed something, just passing through the ghost's body. The light damage was always particularly effective against undead creatures such as zombie skeletons and ghosts.

The milky white ghost let out a terrible wail, and the musical instruments that were originally floating beside his hands disappeared like smoke.

"This is impossible!" The ghost retreated a long distance in fear. This was the first time it felt pain since it realized it had become a ghost. "How could your magic hurt me?"

"Nothing is impossible." Ivy smiled, "It's just that you are too ignorant."

He threw the silver-white moonlight blade out of his hand again and flew towards the ghost's face.

Seeing this scene, the ghost trembled with fear and fell to the side. Although he tried to dodge, the flying moonlight blade still left a wound on his shoulder.

It was the first time that Ivy knew that ghosts could bleed. Silvery-white blood was slowly flowing out from his chest and shoulders. Even though he suffered a penetrating wound, he did not bleed like a normal human. It was as if his blood was something very sticky.

"You forced me to do this!" the ghost shouted.

Ivy made preparations silently. There had to be at least 6 seconds between the two attacks of the Shadow Blade. Although he couldn't use the DND spell during this period, the wizard's spells were temporarily unaffected, and the Iron Armor Spell was obviously a very useful protective magic.

Unlike the counterattack Ivy had speculated, although the ghost looked aggressive, it actually dived down and escaped deeper underground.

"Should we chase him?" Furong was stunned. It was the first time for her to see an enemy who could run away. It would be more accurate to say that this was her first time facing a battle outside the campus.

"Of course not." Ivy replied calmly, "It's obviously not convenient to chase him with the two of you. He wants to lure me to take the initiative and then defeat me one by one. Your spell can't work on a ghost, so he will definitely turn around and deal with you."

"What if Gabrielle really can't wake up?" Fleur asked anxiously.

"I assure you, there is definitely a way to solve the magic on her body. Even if I can't do it, others can." Ivy turned around, still holding the moonlight blade in her hand.

"Do you know Dumbledore?" Ivy squatted beside the boat where Gabrielle was lying, "The headmaster of Hogwarts?"

"I've seen him on a picture of a Chocolate Frog...it says he was the greatest white wizard of the 20th century..." Fleur didn't seem to understand, but answered the question anyway.

"He is sitting right above us right now, enjoying the musical." Dumbledore's name is indeed useful in the wizarding world. Even across a strait, his fame is still praised by the French.

"But I guess there's no need to ask him, I can do it myself." Ivy pushed aside Gabrielle's hair and opened her eyelids to take a look.

Her bright blue eyes looked unfocused; she wasn't asleep, she was passed out.

Ivy touched her forehead with his magic wand and whispered, "Stop the curse!"

It was of no use, Gabrielle showed no sign of waking up.

It seems that the magic used by the ghost is indeed quite tricky.

"Dispel Magic!" Ivy used a 3rd-level protective spell, which can immediately dispel the effects of spells of 3rd level or below. For spells above 3rd level, Ivy needs to perform a spellcasting attribute check. As a wizard, his spellcasting attribute is intelligence, and with the blessing of the Ravenclaw crown, it has now reached 20 points, which means that he has about a three-quarter chance of dispelling spells below 5th level. Even if it is a 9th-level spell, Ivy has a % chance of successfully dispelling it.

As expected. As soon as Ivy finished casting the spell, she saw Gabrielle's eyelashes fluttering, and then she opened her eyes. Furong's tears suddenly flowed down, and she hugged her sister tightly.

"Sister?" Gabrielle called softly, and then yawned as if she couldn't help being sleepy. "You found me? Well - then it's my turn to find you!"

Gabrielle stretched herself, stood up from the boat, and then tried to cover her eyes. Looking at her expression, maybe her memory was still stuck in the time when she played hide-and-seek with her sister.

This kid is really carefree. Not only is he not afraid of this dark environment at all, he even wants to continue playing as soon as he wakes up.

"Okay, Gabrielle." Fleur wiped the tears from her face and smiled once again, "It's too late today, so let's play hide and seek. You're yawning, so we should go home."

"I didn't allow you to leave!" The ghost's strange voice sounded again. Furong held her sister in her arms and looked around vigilantly.

The powerful bass of the organ sounded suddenly, which seemed very depressing in this closed underground space.

Ivy once again used the 2nd level spell Shadow Blade to condense a Moonlight Blade and entered a combat readiness state.

Cello and drums also joined the ensemble, but they failed to make the music develop in an elegant direction, but instead made it seem more eerie.

Fleur felt goosebumps all over her arms and whispered, "Can you use Apparition? We can escape first... You said before that Dumbledore was also in the audience at the opera house. As long as we can tell him this, the Phantom of the Opera will definitely not survive."

"I'm sorry, I haven't learned Apparition yet," Ivy replied. Although he had more than one way to teleport out of the underground structure, how could he be willing to escape when he hadn't gained any valuable experience points yet?

"Silently!" Ivy pointed his silver lime tree wand in the air, and the strange music quickly faded until it could no longer be heard.

Ivy will not wait for the enemy to finish the spell or prepare himself, he will do everything he can to try to hinder the enemy's actions. Although it is unclear what the ghost's music is for, the wisest way is to stop it from playing.

Under the effect of the silencing spell, the entire secret room was eerily quiet. Although Ivy could see Fleur's mouth opening and closing, he could not hear any sound from her.

Yes, Ivy eliminated the friendly voices as well.

Through lip reading, Ivy once again remembered that he could understand French only because of the magical effect of knowing languages. So he had to look away regretfully and continue to be on guard against possible attacks from the ghost.

A milky white shadow emerged from the ground, but it was not the strangely dressed Phantom of the Opera imitator.

Instead, it was a warrior in ostentatious armor and holding a sword. He looked like a general on stage, singing something as he attacked Ivy.

Ivy raised the Moonlight Blade in his right hand and briefly exchanged a few moves with the General Ghost, thrusting the Moonlight Sword into the opponent's throat, who immediately dissipated like smoke.

Several milky white shadows emerged from the wall in front of them, holding various weapons and charging towards Ivy.

But those guys didn't look like well-trained soldiers, they looked more like a group of ballet dancers.

Where in the world are there soldiers charging on tiptoe?
Ivy threw out the Moonlight Blade, and its duration was almost up, so she just wanted to make use of its last bit of effect.

The Moonlight Blade easily killed a soldier who was charging in a ballet style, but Ivy had no intention of checking the results of the battle.

He was preparing his next spell, the 5th-level evocation spell Light of Dawn.

The Light of Dawn can create a cylindrical dawn light with a radius of 30 feet and a height of 40 feet. Wherever this dawn light shines, each target illuminated by it will suffer 4d10 light damage. This damage can be halved through a Constitution saving throw, but the summoned minions will not be able to pass Ivy's spell immunity.

This beam of light can last for one minute and can be controlled by Ivy to move at a speed of 10 feet per second. Targets within the illumination range will continue to suffer damage, making it perfect for clearing out large numbers of undead creatures.

The soldiers charging on tiptoe soon dissolved in the dawn, but the next second, a large number of milky white shadows emerged from the walls in all directions. Compared with the ghosts Ivy had seen, their bodies were even thinner, with only an outline left.

They wore the extravagant costumes popular in the last century, just like the audience who came to the opera house to watch performances a century ago. Many of them wore unique hats, as if they wanted to put the words "elegance" and "refinement" on their heads.

The audience chatted and laughed as they rushed towards Ivy and the other two, almost like forming a wall of ghosts. Ivy had no choice but to control the beam of light to completely cover the three of them, in order to defend against this wave of attacks without any blind spots.

Boom——

The stone wall rose from the ground, building a simple shelter for the two women who were hugging each other. Now Ivy couldn't stop his spells from harming the target he wanted to protect, so he could only use the wizard's spell to make a trick.

But he had never used this spell before, so he was obviously wrong. The spell effect of Light of Dawn was to shine the dawn light in the cylindrical space, not to shine from the top like a spotlight. He saw green smoke coming out of the ends of Furong's silver hair at a glance.

So Ivy changed his strategy and turned the cylindrical light column upside down, spinning it around the space under the three people's feet like a roller. All the ghosts caught in it melted quickly like spring snow under the scorching sun. The light column only rolled twice before no new ghosts appeared.

After these waves of attacks, Ivy has gained some understanding of the ghost who calls himself the Phantom of the Opera. He seems to be able to summon the ghosts of this opera house. He has demonstrated the ability to summon symphonies and stage actors, and even the audience.

If he wasn't an evil spirit, maybe Dumbledore would have invited him to perform at the Hogwarts Halloween dinner.
