Chapter 153 Phantom
Chapter 153 Phantom
"Don't worry. Besides you and me, there are two adult wizards in this opera house." Ivy blinked. "So don't worry about the Ministry of Magic sending you a letter. If they really do that, just write to me and I will tear down the Office for the Prohibition of the Abuse of Magic of the French Ministry of Magic. Then I will need your guidance. Because I don't know where the French Ministry of Magic is. Considering that the British Ministry of Magic is right below Whitehall, the French Ministry of Magic may be below the Palace of Versailles?"
Fleur laughed like a silver bell. "No! We no longer have kings or emperors! Our Ministry of Magic is below Furstenberg Square, a romantic little square. Compared to other famous places in Paris, it is much smaller."
"Well, I thought the French Ministry of Magic would be more impressive." After adjusting the atmosphere, Ivy turned the topic back to Fleur's lost sister. "Where do you want to look for her next? Maybe the ground part of the opera house?"
"No..." The smile on Furong's face disappeared. "I want to continue looking here... You know, the underground of the Garnier Opera House is like a maze. Maybe Gabrielle just accidentally turned into a secret passage."
"Like the Phantom of the Opera, who walked around the opera house 150 years ago?" Ivy joked.
"Yes." Fleur laughed again, "Like the Phantom of the Opera. But Gabrielle is much cuter. Maybe she's Christina?"
"Okay, let's see how many unknown secret passages there are here." Ivy raised his wand and whispered, "The strongest fluorescent light flashes."
A dazzling light burst out from the top of the silver lime tree wand, instantly illuminating the entire underground space. The dazzling golden light made Furong close her eyes.
"Ah - damn it!" A French swear word was heard with a heavy accent, and the two of them hurriedly looked towards the source of the sound.
A white shadow quickly disappeared behind the stone wall.
Ivy and Furong looked at each other. They didn't expect that there was someone hiding here.
"That gruff-voiced man is definitely not your sister, right?" Ivy asked.
"Of course not...but how could there be other people here?" Furong answered hesitantly.
"Since I'm already here, I won't be surprised if one or two strangers show up." Ivy stared at the place where the shadow disappeared. "No matter if he's a Muggle or a wizard, we can't let him get away like this. Chase him!"
However, where the man disappeared, there was only a stone wall covered with slippery moss. Mixed with the shadows cast by the stone pillars beside the wall, it looked like a dark passage.
"Disappeared?" Furong fumbled along the wall, probably trying to find a button, but she found nothing.
"Could it be some kind of magic that can penetrate walls?" She took out her wand again and poked between the bricks on the wall, but the wall still did not respond.
Ivy cast a spell to converge the light at the tip of the wand, turning it into a ball of light, which floated quietly beside the two of them.
"Detect secret doors."
Then he tapped the wall with his wand, and a magical aura that only he could see spread out. This was a 1st-level spell that could detect secret doors within 60 feet and how to open them.
Ivy chose this magic to explore Hogwarts, but there were too many secret doors in the magic castle. Usually, two or three doors could be found within 60 feet, but behind the doors were often a pile of different discarded garbage, and there was nothing valuable. So Ivy gave up after trying a few times.
The reason why this spell is still on his preparation list is because there are not many 1st-level spells worth preparing, and Ivy does not have extra experience points to learn other spells, so he has not filled up his preparation list until now.
"Here's the switch." Ivy tapped a brick on the wall with his heel, and it clicked into the wall.
Then there was the sound of gears and chains sliding hard, which made the two people outside the wall want to cheer for them.
The stone wall began to tremble, and it seemed to be about to move to the side. Under the expectant gaze of Ivy and Furong, it finally made a not-so-good crisp sound and stopped working completely.
This is inevitable. After all, the underground facilities of the opera house have been built for a long time. Those mechanisms have been exposed to a humid environment for a long time. It would be strange if they did not rust.
"Looks like we have to resort to some violent means. Back off." Ivy raised his wand again, and red flames began to condense on it. At the same time, he pulled Fleur back slowly. This underground space was large enough and should be able to withstand a fireball.
"What are you going to do?" Fleur asked, "Blow up the wall? There's a show going on above us!"
"Hmm..." Ivy looked up and looked around. Above the underground lake were several other underground structures, and above that was the stage, then the mechanical structure that lifted the curtain, and finally the roof of the building.
"It's been here for so long, it should be able to hold on." The flame on the tip of Ivy's wand became brighter. "Don't worry, I'll fix it with a repair spell."
"This opera house is a treasure of the French. I can't bear to see you blow it up." Fleur stepped forward, pointed her wand at the stone wall and said, "Disappear!"
The entire stone wall suddenly disappeared, revealing a dark passage behind it.
"Beauxbatons just taught me this spell last semester, and I learned it very well." Fleur turned around and smiled, "Let's go, let's catch up."
"Okay, let's catch up." Ivy sighed and extinguished the flame on the top of the wand. To be honest, he really wanted to try whether the people playing with explosions underground could feel it.
The two followed the fluorescent ball made by Ivy into the dark secret passage, and when they looked up, they saw a white shadow not far away.
The clothes that person was wearing seemed to be made of some kind of reflective material, just like the costumes on the stage, and they were very conspicuous in the dark secret passage.
The white shadow flickered slightly and then disappeared.
"He seems to be leading us over?" The white shadow's intention was too obvious, even an inexperienced student like Furong could see it.
"He definitely has no good intentions," Ivy said with certainty.
"Could it be that he gave Gabrielle to..." Furong began to speculate in the worst direction again. She had previously felt that her sister had fallen into the underground lake.
"Anyway, just catch up." Ivy took a step forward, with Furong following closely behind him.
The white figure appeared and disappeared in front of them many times, just like the "Phantom of the Opera" being performed in the opera house.
"Listen, there seems to be some other movement." Ivy looked up and heard some trivial sounds coming from behind the stone ceiling.
"It seems to be applause?" Furong listened carefully for a while and said uncertainly.
"Ah, I see. We have arrived at the bottom of the auditorium."
The secret passage becomes more compact here, apparently because the designer reduced the spacing between the pillars when building the pillars under the stands.
