Chapter 438 Compensation Agreement

Chapter 438 Compensation Agreement
"Boss, Michael Ovitz called and said he made a mistake and wants to find an opportunity to apologize to you."

On the set of "007", Lewinsky took the opportunity during Link's break to report on the matter. After the Hollywood Reporter's list was published, Link had been receiving dozens of calls every day for the past few days.

Link is busy filming every day and doesn't have much time to manage company affairs, let alone other people's affairs.

"Apologize? What did he do wrong?"

Link, who was drinking water, was a little confused by Lewinsky's words. He was filming a movie in England, but Ovitz called from the United States to apologize to him, which was a bit ridiculous.

He also remembered that Ovitz was kicked out of Disney by Eisner less than two years after joining the company, but Ovitz has not been kicked out yet, which is probably another example of the butterfly effect.

"I don't know, he didn't say."

"Never mind then, I'll reply to him when I have time."

After his break, Link continued filming.

"Tomorrow Never Dies" mainly tells the story of media mogul Carver's attempt to monopolize global media by manipulating news and creating international conflicts, and even plotting to use stolen British missiles to shoot down a warplane from an Asian country to provoke a war.

The British intelligence agency dispatched James Bond, 007, to Asia to investigate.

James Bond teams up with Lin Hui, a female agent from an Asian country, and after overcoming numerous difficulties, uncovers Carver's conspiracy.

Using high-tech methods and exceptional skills, the two infiltrated Carver's base and learned that Carver planned to use satellite-controlled missiles to attack the capital of a certain country, thereby triggering a world war to enhance the value of his media empire.

After several fierce battles, Bond and Lin Hui successfully destroyed Carver's satellite control station and prevented a missile launch at a critical moment.

Ultimately, Carver was killed by his own device.

007 once again completed his mission with flair.

This film blends high-tech espionage, cooperation and competition between Eastern and Western countries, and critique of media conglomerates, continuing the adventure style of the 007 series.

The scenes in London mainly consist of Pierce Brosnan's character before he accepts his mission.

Some scenes from the previous James Bond film, GoldenEye, were also filmed here.

When Link came here to film, he could use the original set and actors, saving a lot of time and money.

The crew spent two weeks filming the London scenes, and at the end of March, he brought the crew to Hong Kong Island for filming.

During this time, Ovitz called twice more. When he called the second time, Link was having dinner and had time to answer the phone. He asked Ovitz what was wrong out of curiosity.

"Link, you finally have time to answer the phone."

Ovitz sounded somewhat resentful on the phone.

Link laughed and said, "Mike, there's so much to do on set. We're busy from morning till night every day, and sometimes we don't even have time to eat."

"Really? But why are all my newspapers full of your scandals, saying that your girlfriends took turns visiting you on set in London while you were filming?"

"Michael!"

Before Ovitz could continue, Link said, "The crew has just arrived in Hong Kong Island. There's a lot of work to do here. If you need anything, just say so."

"Alright alright!"

After a few seconds of silence, Ovitz said, "Link, there's something I need to apologize to you for." He then recounted how he, Richard Simpson, and others had conspired to deceive him with "The Rock."

To mitigate his own guilt, he shifted the blame to Richard Simpson, Langmeyer, Barrydiller, and others, saying that the film's script was mediocre, estimated a small box office loss, and that Link might not agree to invest.

But what happened next was beyond everyone's expectations. Link not only invested in the film, but also directed it himself.

“Link, I never expected you to like this script. This is a huge misunderstanding. If you blame me, I apologize. If the movie loses money, I'm willing to compensate you for part of the production costs. How about that?”

Link was speechless after hearing Ovitz's words. He had no idea that there was such a complicated story behind the script of "The Rock". However, this was not the first time he had heard this story. Ovitz, Harvey, Daniel and others had mentioned it directly or indirectly before, but he was confident in "The Rock" and had not paid much attention to it.

Ovitz's version is now more complete, but whether it's the whole truth remains to be seen.

Link didn't seem to care. "Michael, you just said you were going to compensate Guess Movies for their losses?"

"Yes, Link, this is all my fault. I need to apologize to you. If The Rock loses money at the box office, I will compensate you for part of the production costs. I just hope you won't blame me."

Ovitz said sincerely.

"Okay, I accept your apology. So, how much compensation are you prepared to pay?"

"Huh? I meant that if the movie loses money, and 'The Rock' loses 30 million, I'm willing to compensate you 3000 million. If it loses 1000 million, I'll compensate you 1000 million, how about compensating you at a 300% ratio? This is my greatest sincerity."

“30%? No, that’s too little. We’ve been friends and business partners for many years. If you collude with others to cheat me, it could cause my project to lose hundreds of millions of dollars. And you only plan to compensate me with 30%. That’s too little. There’s no sincerity in apologizing.”

I'll give you two options. First, 50% compensation. Regardless of how much "The Rock" loses at the box office, you must compensate GuessSee Pictures for 50% of its economic losses.

“Link, you can’t do this. Although it’s wrong of me to deceive you with the script, you chose the script and you directed it. You should bear the main responsibility for this. My responsibility is minimal. 30% is already my greatest sincerity.”

"Michael, hold on, I haven't finished. The second option is to donate $200 million to the Diana Global Charitable Foundation. From now on, no matter how much the 'The Rock' project loses, it won't concern you. We'll remain old friends and stable partners. So, which one do you choose?"

Link laughed.

After hearing his words, Ovitz did not respond immediately. After a few seconds of silence, he asked, "Are you sure that as long as I donate $200 million, you won't blame me no matter how much 'The Rock' does at the box office?"

"Of course! I'm too busy to joke with you."

"Okay, I choose the second one."

“This was a very wise choice, and I thank you on behalf of all the children who received the donation.”

Link chuckled softly, hung up the phone, and then called Diana, asking her to arrange for someone to contact Ovitz to accept the donation. He urged her to act quickly to prevent Ovitz from backing out.

For a billionaire like Ovitz, 200 million is not a lot of money, but when "The Rock" is released and Ovitz sees that the movie is a box office hit, he will probably be furious.

He had achieved his goal of teaching the other party a lesson.

After hanging up the phone, Link continued filming.

The next day, Diana called to say that Michael Ovitz's donation had arrived and that she planned to use the media to publicize it so that everyone would know that Michael Ovitz was also a very kind-hearted person.

Link smiled and agreed to her suggestion, telling her to arrange things as she pleased.

"Link, what do you think of my necklace?"

In the living room of the villa on the hillside, Rosamund Kwan, wearing a diamond necklace, swayed her hips to show him the necklace's beauty.

"Very nice, is this your new design?"

"Yes, I participated in the design of the pattern."

"Well done, keep it up."

Link pinched her round cheek and continued organizing tomorrow's shooting materials in the study.

However, Rosamund Kwan, Carina Lau, Chingmy Yau, the newcomer Shu Qi, and Kristy Yang, the 95 Miss Asia winner, were laughing and joking in the living room, which greatly affected his work progress.

He had no choice but to go out and comfort the women first, and then return to his study to continue working after they had all fallen asleep.
