Chapter 26 'Knight' and 'Princess'

Chapter 26 'Knight' and 'Princess'

A sword pierced through the rat that pounced on him, and before he could get rid of the body, an infected person swung at him with an old straight sword.

Bai Shi dodged sideways and stabbed a sword into his chest. He turned around and swung the sword. The body of the infected person and the rat corpse on the sword were thrown out, knocking down the two infected people who were about to attack.

Bai Shi was about to go up and finish off the enemy, but the insane fire released by another infected person had already spurted out.

Bai Shi rolled on the ground and barely escaped the attack range. Before he could stand up, a rat rushed in front of Bai Shi and opened its mouth to bite him.

Bai Shi grabbed the mouse's head with his left hand and threw it hard to the ground. He hit it twice, and his palm was covered with meat paste.

Just as he was about to get up, he suddenly heard the sound of something heavy falling behind him.

Bai Shi simply rolled over on the ground twice more.

"boom!"

The giant rat, which was bigger than a human, fell to the spot where Bai Shi was just now.

Bai Shi stood up, took a big step forward with his right foot, and tightly grasped the greatsword with both hands. A gray light flashed on his body, and he swung the greatsword with force.

The sword blade cut through the grass on the ground, aimed at the big rat's head, and chopped it down swiftly from bottom to top.

Combat skill-lunge (upward cut)!

The giant rat jumped to the side, trying to dodge, but its huge body caused inconvenience.

Bai Shi used a sword to cut open half of the rat's abdomen, and its organs and blood flowed all over the ground.

Although the giant rat was not killed, it still caused a lot of damage and the rat began to retreat to the edge of the battlefield.

A sword stabbed into the chin of an infected person, and the tip of the sword emerged from the top of the head.

With a strong swing, the lower jaw flew out with half of the face skin, and the infected person slowly collapsed to the ground.

But more enemies surrounded them.

Two infected people rushed over with swords in hand, one on the left and one on the right. A little further away, an infected person was walking over with his head covered. As long as he got close to Bai Shi, he would release the insane fire.

There was a rustling sound of mice moving behind him. The hybrids in the sky saw that Bai Shi was under siege and seemed to have regained the courage to fight, pulling their bows to the full length.

Bai Shi rushed forward and swept his greatsword across, cutting one infected person in half. However, the momentum of the greatsword was weakened as a result, and it embedded itself in the ribs of another infected person.

The infected person held onto Bai Shi's sword tightly with his hands, and the rat under his feet took the opportunity to bite Bai Shi's ankle. Bai Shi could only kick it away with force.

The infected person further away has reached a suitable attack distance.

Staring at Bai Shi, the rage accumulated in his eyes seemed about to burst out in the next second.

Bai Shi suddenly pulled out the big sword, trying to escape from the attack range of Dian Huo immediately.

But the hybrid in the sky happened to shoot an arrow into the gap between Bai Shi's armor.

Bai Shi felt pain and paused instinctively.

'That's bad.'

The time wasted in this meal was enough for the rage to vent on Bai Shi.

But the expected frenzy did not come.

"Bang, whoosh—"

A crossbow arrow hit the center of the eyebrow of the infected person who was about to release the insane fire.

Bai Shi looked over and saw a wandering merchant riding on his skinny donkey beside the campfire, stringing a crossbow.

"We, the Nomadic People, can also work as part-time mercenaries when necessary. I think you need this service."

Bai Shi smiled. The wandering merchants were really a group of strange guys, but having them around was a real help.

Bai Shi did not thank him. After the battle, he had plenty of time to thank him for his help.

Bai Shi pulled out the arrow that had stuck in his body, breathing heavily.

After the continuous battles, Bai Shi felt tired for the first time.

In order to reduce the enemy's numbers as quickly as possible in this battle and prevent them from being hit by the Dianhuo during the siege, Bai Shi deliberately took out the King's Army Greatsword, which had the highest damage, and used all his strength in every move.

However, although he was tired, he could still swing the sword.

Bai Shi observes the living enemies. He can ignore the three hybrids for now since their attacks don't contain any fire.

Bai Shi is not afraid of being hurt, as long as he is not hurt by the fire of epilepsy.

Three infected people, a giant rat, and four or five rats are the only threatening enemies left.

Bai Shi breathed a sigh of relief as he looked at the enemies that had surrounded him again.

"You only have this much left and you're still rushing to die. I'll kill you right away."
-
A sword pierced the chest of the last infected person, Bai Shi pulled out the blade and let him fall. However, the infected person still stubbornly supported himself with his hands and tried to get up.

Bai Shi thrust the greatsword diagonally into the ground against the infected man's neck, then stepped on the infected man's head, giving his neck and the sword a kiss of death.

Heads fell to the ground, and all the enemies were eliminated.

In the end, Bai Shi won the battle.

Bai Shi slumped on the ground, fished out the red and blue Dettol Holy Grail bottle from his small bag, and poured it all into his mouth.

The wounds on his body began to stop bleeding and his spirits recovered.

Although the number of enemies decreased, Bai Shi was still too tired to dodge and had to take several sword attacks.

But fortunately, all of Dianhuo's attacks were dodged, so this minor injury is not a big deal.

The wandering merchant came over on his skinny donkey.

"Wow, what a brutal way of fighting."

Bai Shi did not deny that the battle scene just now was indeed too bloody. Fortunately, Irena could not see it, otherwise it would probably destroy the image of him in her mind.

"Thank you for your support just now."

The wandering trader smiled:
"Haha, you're welcome. I just want to make money. My fees are very expensive."

"Besides, there are very few people who are willing to spend money just to warm themselves by a fire. I have already regarded you as a big customer. I would be very sorry if you died."

Bai Shi pointed at the corpse on the ground.

"All the spoils here are at your disposal. Consider them as your wages."

"Oh! How generous! I won't be polite then."

Bai Shi didn't feel any reason to feel sad. The wandering merchant's arrow truly saved Bai Shi's life, and later his crossbow was also very useful in attacking the hybrids in the sky.

Bai Shi rested for a while, picked up a piece of clothes and wiped the blood and flesh on his body almost clean, then stood up.

After blowing the whistle, Torrett ran to Bai Shi carrying Irena on his back.

Torret ran very steadily, so even the blind Irena didn't have to worry about being thrown off when she sat on it.

"Is the battle over? Are you injured?"

Irena asked with concern.

Bai Shi slapped his armor so hard that it made loud noises.

"It's nothing, I killed all those enemies easily."

Irena didn't know that this was a lie, so she felt relieved and smiled sweetly.

"I'm glad you're all right."

Suddenly she thought of something, and the smile on Irena's face turned into a sad look.

"No, it seems that I have dragged you into this again, causing you to risk participating in an unnecessary battle. I am very sorry."

"Ah! What are you doing all of a sudden?"

Irena was still blaming herself when suddenly a hand passed under her knees and another hand put around her shoulders, lifting her off the horse.

Bai Shi carried Irena off the horse in a princess-like manner and slowly walked towards the campfire.

"None of this is your fault."

"And as a knight, it is my duty to protect the princess."

Irena's face flushed, and she couldn't help laughing again, and retorted coquettishly:
"What kind of princess is the city lord's daughter?"

Seeing that he seemed to have succeeded in coaxing her, Bai Shi couldn't help but smile.

"If a wandering knight like me can be considered a knight, then the city lord's daughter can certainly be considered a princess."

Irena didn't say anything else and secretly leaned her head on Bai Shi's shoulder.

The strong smell of blood on his body was not offensive at all, but instead gave people a sense of security.

She originally wanted to tell Bai Shi that she could come down and walk, but now she suddenly didn't want to say it anymore.

She thought, it would be great if this road could go on forever.
-
Out of their sight, Melina looked at them expressionlessly while combing Torret's hair.

Torrett felt a lot of his hair being pulled off, but he didn't dare to say a word.
