Chapter 304 Affectionate
The scenes in the dream were so real that they remained vividly in Nan Rong's mind even after she woke up.
It was already daylight, so Nan Rong got up to wash up. Just as she was about to go downstairs for dinner, Captain Raul sent someone to urge her to come.
Nan Rong followed the person into Vilan's bedroom.
His complexion had noticeably improved; a healthy pale pink hue had appeared beneath his fair skin. He stood with his back to the window, his posture as upright as a snow-covered pine tree on a high cliff.
Jelly Dumpling immediately checked his physical condition. The medicine had worked perfectly; Vilan was completely cured of his illness and had become a perfectly healthy person.
However, this normal person still had that layer of snow-white gauze covering their eyes, and turned their head slightly toward the sound of footsteps, giving a slight smile.
It was as if a spring breeze had swept across the frozen lake, instantly melting away the frost and snow that had been dormant for many years.
The morning light lagged behind, streaming in diagonally through the carved window behind him, gilding his flowing silver hair with a layer of gold.
Despite the beautiful woman and scenery, Nan Rong only glanced at her before silently looking away.
Captain Raul, beaming with joy, ran to her.
"Master Nan! Young Master is cured, completely cured! Your medicine is truly amazing! I don't know how to thank you enough!"
As he spoke, his knees buckled, and he was about to kneel down.
"No need for that." Nan Rong showed a relieved expression. Without her making any visible movement, Captain Raul was lifted up by an invisible force.
"Vili." She forced a smile and walked towards Viran. "Since you're all better, why are your eyes still..."
“I’m waiting for you.” The latter also turned to greet her: “Arong, I hope that the first person I see when I open my eyes is you.”
His attitude was very sincere, and his voice was extremely pleasant to hear. Coupled with his gentle and pure laughter, and the trembling raven-black eyelashes that could be vaguely seen through the snow-white gauze, it would be easy to move the hearts of countless young girls.
But Nan Rong was one of the very few women who were completely indifferent to this.
Not only did she not feel anything, she also shivered almost imperceptibly, and a layer of fine goosebumps rose on the skin of her arms.
“It is my honor.” She heard her own peaceful and joyful voice.
Vilan bowed his head to her and handed her the tail of the snow-white silk ribbon.
With a gentle tug, Nan Rong brought those tightly closed, narrow eyes to her eyes. They slowly, little by little, opened, revealing the silver-blue pupils within.
The mercury-like surface of the iris was shimmering with tiny, cold lights, as if the frigid galaxy billions of light-years away had been condensed into a tiny space.
After a brief moment of confusion, the starlight focused on Nan Rong's face.
“Arong.” A strange light shone in Vilan’s eyes: “You are more beautiful than I could ever imagine.”
As he spoke, his long, jade-like hand naturally reached for Nan Rong's wrist, but she looked away at that moment, turned her body and took a half step back to avoid it.
Vilan paused slightly, the bright starlight in his eyes dimmed considerably, and his smile slowly faded.
"Do I look bad now?" he asked softly.
"No," Nan Rong replied casually, then changed the subject: "How are your eyes? Can you see clearly in the distance?"
“Very clear. The potion is extremely effective. Thank you for everything you've done for me.” “That's good.” Nan Rong turned to Raul: “So, our deal is considered a success?”
Upon hearing this, Vilan was slightly taken aback.
He glanced down at Nan Rong, then slowly turned to Captain Raul.
The latter seemed oblivious to his odd behavior and replied with a smile, "Of course. I'll transfer the money to you right away—a total of 600 million Chaos Coins, the extra being my additional gratitude to you."
Nan Rong looked satisfied: "That's good. If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave now."
"Please wait a moment." Vilan's hand reached for her shoulder, but it was easily dodged again.
She looked up and saw that beautiful, jade-like face filled with disappointment and bitterness.
"Arong, where are you going? I don't want to be separated from you."
Nan Rong blinked slightly, feeling that the answer was both unexpected and expected.
“Villie,” she said gently, “even the best of friends have to part ways eventually. You’ve just recovered, so you should focus on resting. As for me, I have my own things to do.”
“I know you want to return to the Delin Federation, and I won’t stop you—but the three major star systems are now war zones, so you can’t go back.”
"If that's the case, then why can't you stay by my side, or take me with you? I'm no longer a cripple. I can use gene-enhancing agents to improve my strength and will gradually become stronger. I will never become a burden to you—please believe me, Arong."
This time, he successfully took her hand.
The scene before her eyes inexplicably overlapped with the blurry images that flashed through Nan Rong's mind on the day of the auction.
She looked up at him, then looked down at their clasped hands, and suddenly laughed, forcefully pulling her hand away.
"Vili, are you looking to buy gene-enhancing agents from me?"
"Ah, right, right, right!" Captain Raul exclaimed as if waking from a dream. "Young Master Vilan is cured and can use the gene optimizer now. I completely forgot about that! Master Nan, how about this? We'd like to order two more gene optimizers from you, one first-tier and one second-tier, the higher the level the better."
"Oh?" Nan Rong smiled even more broadly: "Although we are friends, business is business. You can't expect me to lose money."
“Of course not!” Vilan said before Captain Raul could reply, “I will buy the gene-enhancing agent from you at twice the market price.”
“But young master,” Raul sighed, his voice dry, “I don’t have much savings. I can barely afford the market price, but double…”
“You don’t need to touch your money,” Vilan said. “My mother left me a huge inheritance.”
“But the head of the family had already closed her account shortly after the mistress passed away,” Captain Raul said, puzzled.
“Chaos Coins are only a tiny fraction of all assets,” Vilan said calmly. “Most of the wealth has been hidden away.”
“But young master, you have never met the mistress, so how would you know these things?” Captain Raul asked in surprise.
"On the night of my tenth birthday, someone secretly broke into my room and told me everything, including the location of all my property and the secret marks for claiming it."
"Ten years old?" Captain Raul murmured, repeating it again, then suddenly looked up. "Isn't that the year the spaceship crashed? I vaguely remember that the head of the family was particularly irritable during that time because of your illness, and he killed many of the servants who served you."
