Chapter 284 Who is your opponent?
The massive body crashed to the ground. Nan Rong jumped off the corpse of the Blade-Armed Emperor Scorpion and calmly walked towards the raised grille.
The large screen was playing slow motion footage. Even at five times the speed, the audience could only see a figure as swift as the wind, crossing dozens of meters in a flash, and appearing behind the beast's neck.
The image that surrounded the large screen eventually settled on Nan Rong's face.
A low-level gladiator single-handedly killed a fourth-tier beast of vastly different size, yet showed no excitement whatsoever. He remained calm and composed, revealing no emotion whatsoever.
But it was precisely this indifferent face that instantly ignited the emotions of the audience.
Countless people chanted her name fervently, their voices surging like a tidal wave.
But Nan Rong didn't stop for them even for a second.
Steward Wu stood inside the grille, his gaze towards her quite complex.
“You need to have your body checked again,” he said.
This was a new instruction issued by the young master after watching the live broadcast of the battle that had just ended.
Nan Rong had no reason or need to refuse. With Jelly Dumpling around, she could give them any outcome.
Little Carol looked at the latest test report that had been sent to her, lost in thought.
Dual-elemental extraordinary ability of wind and fire: Tier 2.

“Young Master,” Steward Wu stated his opinion, “it is clear that Master Nan’s health has recovered to what it was before he was poisoned.”
"Putting everything else aside, just in terms of a few indicators of gene optimization, it is among the best in the entire Chaotic Starfield. Young Master, you really should reconsider."
"If that Blade-Armed Royal Scorpion hadn't suddenly retreated, she would have been killed just now, and our Blackthorn Arena would never have such an excellent gene optimization master again. Please think twice!"
Hearing this, Carol gave him a half-smile and said, "This is the first time I've ever heard of a creature like the Blade-Armed Imperial Scorpion that would actively retreat in battle."
Steward Wu could naturally tell that the young master suspected him, thinking that he had done something wrong, so he quickly explained:
"This situation is indeed rare, but it's not unheard of. According to the experts on exotic beasts in the arena, the two Blade-Armed Royal Scorpions had just arrived and were probably too sensitive to the tidal pull of Tulan Star. That's why Master Nan was able to kill them by taking advantage of his speed."
Carol remained silent for a while before saying calmly, "Master Nan, chuckling. I don't know what kind of spell she cast on you, but I don't want something like this to happen again. Let's end it all tonight. Let's avoid any accidents."
The holographic communication was lost, and Steward Wu's back was soaked with cold sweat. He stood there for a while, pursing his lips, and then called over Brother Jin and gave him some instructions.
It was still early before the evening session. Nan Rong decided to go back and take an afternoon nap, and also continue studying "The Theory of the Origin of the Universe".
But as soon as the electronic door lock was swiped, two people walked out of the room opposite.
They weren't the two prisoners of war from Lata, but two unfamiliar men. They had wounds on their faces and bodies, and wore yellow bracelets on their wrists, signifying intermediate gladiators.
The two men scrutinized Nan Rong's face and body, their eyes finally settling on the green bracelet, whereupon they revealed meaningful smiles.
They exchanged a glance and rushed over in perfect unison, placing their hands in front of the door to block her way.
"A novice gladiator?" one of the men said. "We just advanced from the novice zone, how come we've never seen you before?"
Nan Rong raised an eyebrow: "Why don't you answer my question first—who was originally living in that room?"
"Do you even need to ask?" another man said dismissively. "Since we were assigned here, there's only one path for those who came before us—you wouldn't happen to be one of them, would you?" He looked enlightened and grinned. "If you're willing, my brother and I can continue to take care of you, whether on the battlefield or in life."
Nan Rong's face turned cold, and she frowned.
She had considered the possibility of death, but the two prisoners of war were quite strong, enough to contend with intermediate gladiators, so they shouldn't have both died in the preliminary competition.
The two oblivious men completely ignored her attitude and reached out to pull her back into the house, but were suddenly blasted away by an invisible force.
While they were still in the air, several wind blades grazed their cheeks, shaving off bits of hair from the sides of their faces.
"A wind-type superhuman!" The two men finally managed to get up, clutching their chests. They watched as Nan Rong rushed to the elevator like the wind, but they no longer had any intention of rushing up to grab her.
"Turns out we misjudged it; this one has thorns!" A man spat on the ground.
"Let's go back and treat the wound first. We'll find out what's going on with this woman later," another man said.
Nan Rong received confirmation from Supervisor Fang that the two Lata Star prisoners of war had indeed died in the 2v2 combat.
"After the slave warm-up matches this morning, there will be the junior gladiator competitions," Supervisor Fang said.
"The condition for winning a war of resistance is that one side falls to the ground and is unable to resist. It is not necessarily about killing the opponent. Otherwise, no matter how many gladiators there are, they cannot withstand endless attrition."
"There were five 2v2 matches today, and only three people died, including Tig and Piron."
Nan Rong shook his head: "I know their strength very well. If their opponent was just a novice gladiator, the result shouldn't be like this."
Manager Fang spread his hands: "I didn't see the actual match either. I just received a death notice and had someone clean the room. If you want to know more details, you can go directly to Manager Wu."
Just then, the elevator doors opened, and a dark-skinned, thin young man stepped out, holding Ji Jun's hand.
"Sister!" Ji Jun's eyes lit up when he saw Nan Rong: "You won too?"
Nan Rong lowered her eyes and saw the green bracelet on his wrist that represented a junior gladiator. A strange feeling suddenly arose in her heart.
"You participated in a match today?" she asked. "The 2v2 match for junior gladiators?"
“Yes.” Ji Jun looked at Nan Rong, his doe-like eyes wide open, but there was something indescribable in them.
"Who is your opponent?" she asked, her voice slightly hoarse.
Ji Jun lowered his eyes, his long eyelashes casting a deep shadow beneath them.
After a long while, he sighed and looked at the dark-skinned, thin young man beside him.
The other person wore a red bracelet on his wrist, signifying a high-ranking gladiator. He had been silently observing Nan Rong, but now he revealed a gentle smile and looked down to meet Ji Jun's gaze.
“You’re right, she really doesn’t care about me that much.” Ji Jun’s voice was somewhat dejected: “She doesn’t care whether I’m scared or hurt, she just keeps asking me about other people’s business.”
"Others?" Nan Rong repeated, his eyes growing even darker and colder: "Tell me the truth, were your opponents on the field today Tig and Pirang?"
