Star Railway: The Last of the Grammer Riders
Chapter 48 Rivet Town
Chapter 48 Rivet Town
After walking for a while, the three of them finally arrived at Rivet Town.
After entering, I saw that the road in front of me that originally led to the market was blocked by debris, as if it was to resist the attack of those cracked-armor creatures.
"We're here. This is Rivet Town... Oh, a familiar view... Let's go upstairs. We can't see anything here." Xier led the two of them up the stairs.
"Over there, the house on the distant hillside is Natasha's former orphanage." Xier pointed to a single-family villa-style house on a distant mountain.
"Wow, it looks very big and grand. It seems that your conditions were pretty good back then." Xing said, squinting his eyes as he looked at the house in the distance.
"I heard from Natasha that the house was donated by a wealthy businessman in the past. No matter what he does, he must be a good person." Xier said. "Those carefree days when I was a child, I really miss them when I think about them now..."
"What's wrong?" Xing asked Bronya, who was silent and seemed to be thinking about something.
"It's okay... I just feel... a little familiar." Bronya said, holding her forehead.
"Look down, do you see those messy stalls? That's the market square of Rivet Town. The supplies Natasha wants are probably placed there." Seele just glanced at Bronya strangely, then pointed in a direction and continued explaining.
"Be careful! There are enemies ahead." As they walked across a sky bridge, Xi'er seemed to have noticed something and said, "These guys are not wanderers, they won't..."
"You don't have to treat me as a novice. I'm very familiar with the monsters in the Rift." Bronya shot one of the Rift creatures in the head with her bolt-action sniper rifle.
At the same time as Bronya fired the shot, Xing and Seele took out their weapons and slashed at the other Rift Creatures.
Especially the stars, they were all smashed to pieces with one blow of the stick.
After cleaning up, everyone came to a place that looked like a restaurant.
"Is this... a restaurant?" Bronya said puzzledly as she looked at the layout here.
"Well, it's the one with the best reputation in this town. Nata will bring children who behave well to improve the food." Xier explained.
"So... have you been here?"
"Am I that kind of good kid? Of course not even once." Xier said with some nostalgia. "But I did have it once when I was a kid. A girl about my age shared it with me."
"How's that girl?" Bronya asked curiously.
"What does this have to do with you?" Xi'er said speechlessly. "As for what happened to her, I don't know either. She was adopted by a family when I was little."
"Is it possible that she was adopted by a family in the upper district? Of course, it is also possible that she is walking around somewhere in the lower district now." Xing said.
"Maybe, I don't know much anyway." Xier shook her shoulders and said.
Then, while chatting, everyone arrived at their destination, a trading market in Rivet Town.
But there are already a large number of Rift Creatures gathered here.
"Be careful of the monsters around. If necessary, clear this area." Xier held the sickle tightly and looked at the world-ripping creature below vigilantly.
Everyone walked lightly to avoid attracting the attention of the creatures from the Rift.
Finally, we successfully found the location where the supplies were stored.
It's a pity that there is nothing there.
We searched several locations but still couldn't find any supplies.
"Damn, why are they all empty? Could it be that these monsters will rummage through the boxes?" Xier said with a headache.
"The creatures from the Rift Valley don't need human supplies, and they won't be so... polite when they steal things." Bronya thought for a moment and said something more appropriate but not vulgar.
"So what you mean is that someone has gotten ahead of us?" Seele thought about Bronya's words and said.
"These are just some guesses. But there are traces of trampling on the ground here." Bronya said, looking at the traces on the ground.
"The soil still smells fresh, so the other party should not have been away for too long. Let's go, even if we have to turn this area upside down, we must find the thing." Xier said seriously.
Then everyone followed the footprints and found a relatively hidden location.
"Eric? Hey, kid! Why did you come here alone? Don't you know how dangerous this place is?" Xier said angrily.
"Xi, Xier? You, you have the right to control me! I, I go wherever I want, it has nothing to do with you!" Eric said guiltily.
"Little boy, this place is very dangerous. Why did you come here without telling your parents? Do you want me to take you out?" Xing said to Eric with a smile. "Hey, you look a bit like a bad kid kidnapping, don't you know that?"
"Ah? I just want to take this child away from this dangerous place." Xing looked at Xier with a strange expression.
"But Eric, you are quite capable. You hid the supplies here by yourself." Xier said with some admiration. "But if we don't deal with those wandering monsters, what are you going to do? Just shiver in the corner waiting for the unlikely rescue?"
"Who, who asked you to meddle in other people's business? I could have escaped immediately and I don't need any help from you adults!" Eric was unable to defend himself.
Indeed, he just wanted to bring some supplies back at first, but soon after he found the supplies, those creatures from the Rift Valley gathered around him.
"Ha, you're still pretty stubborn. Then tell me, how are you going to carry these bundles of steel plates and leave in front of these monsters?" Xier said speechlessly.
"I…this, this…there will always be a way!"
"By the way, can you give us some supplies? To save people. If not..." Xing said with a dangerous smile.
"You don't have to be polite to him. This kid is a well-known thief in the underground. If I remember correctly, he stole this clothes from other children." Xier said to herself without noticing Xing's expression.
"I can give you the supplies...but, but the number has to be this." Eric said, making a number 2.
"Ah? Two credit points? Wow! You are such a good person!" Xing said, looking at Eric's gesturing fingers.
"What are credit points? I'm talking about Winter City..." Eric's sudden courage made him shout out, but he was immediately blocked by Xing.
"Are you crazy? Do you know how many monsters will be attracted by your shouting?" Xing whispered, and then handed two Winter City Shields to Eric. "Two Winter City Shields, right? I can give them to you."
"No..." Eric wanted to say 200 Winterfell Shields but stopped talking.
"Hmm?" Xing's dangerous smile made Eric feel like he was meeting a pervert.
"2... okay... 2 Winter City shields..." Eric wanted to reduce it to 20 but was frightened by Xing's eyes. "But, but can you not have that much... my father needs..."
"Okay, we just need to replenish the medical supplies in the clinic, and that pile is enough. You can take the rest back by yourself." After hearing the answer she wanted, Xing smiled very brightly and touched Eric's head and said.
"Hehe, I met a good person today!" Xing said happily while collecting the supplies.
"Wow, I didn't expect that this child would one day be so kind-hearted. It really opens my eyes." Xier said in shock.
"Don't you think this price is too outrageous?" Bronya asked with a puzzled look.
"I don't think so. Anyway, I bought them all for free." Xier said calmly.
Hearing this, Bronya felt that she still owed him something and prepared to take off her brooch and give it to Eric.
"Bronya, I know what you're thinking. Leave some of these supplies for him. Since he wants these supplies, it's mainly for medical treatment or money. Just leave enough for him." Xing said, holding Bronya's hand.
"But...ah...okay." Bronya said helplessly, putting down her hand that was untying the brooch.
"Let's go. We are still short of painkillers. And Eric, be careful. You can go through the path upstairs later. It will be safer after we have cleared out the monsters there." Xier said.
"Got it," Eric said.
Then Xing and the other two walked towards the orphanage.
But they didn't notice that Eric's eyes dimmed for a moment and then brightened again. But this time, there was a hint of regret...
Someone who was secretly observing Eric's reaction smiled.
I woke up at around 11 o'clock today and went out for lunch with my family.
Turns out…I almost forgot I needed to get my teeth adjusted today.
When I got home, I prepared to have dinner.
It was almost 9 o'clock when I remembered that I had to update today.
Oh, by the way, I need to ask for leave in advance, so I may not update next Friday.
Because I have to prepare for the flight to BJ the next morning. (Don't worry, I will still update during this period, but the speed will not be as fast as usual)
