Chapter 294 The Stowaway from Another Dimension
Chapter 294 The Stowaway from Another Dimension
The origin of Paidi dates back to the 35th millennium.
In the northeastern corner of the Milky Way, there is a galaxy called the Ghoul Cluster.
Space necromancy once took root there.
By the 35th millennium, these soulless survivors of the war in heaven had fallen into a deep slumber.
Paidi was born on the planet Gorkamoka in the Ghoul Cluster.
There is an abandoned space tomb there.
In the beginning, there were virtually no living things on the planet except for scarabs, and even bacteria and microorganisms were scarce.
A green spaceship crashes on land, and Gorkamoka begins to bustle.
The orcs beat up ribs here, conquered cities and territories, and built their homes.
They unearthed Paidi's "nest" from deep within the tomb.
The so-called "nest" refers to the regeneration chamber used by the Necromancer in executing the resurrection protocol.
Under normal circumstances, the regeneration chamber will "print" Paidi's new body and then write digitized memories and ways of thinking into the new body, thus creating a new Paidi with past memories and ways of thinking.
Unfortunately, Paidi's regeneration chamber broke down.
The capsule successfully "printed" Paidi's body, but failed to write his memories and most of his thought processes.
Neo Paidi does possess the body and abilities of a time technician, but his memories and logic are vastly different from his past self.
In terms of intelligence alone, he's probably about the same as TechGuru.
When the orcs on Gorkamoka discovered Paidi, they found the skinny guy amusing and thought he would become a good kid, so they took him back to their territory to train him.
And so, a rib was born, raised by orcs, educated in orc culture from a young age, and fond of thinking like orcs.
Alternative and unique, it is one of a kind in this world.
"But here's the problem: didn't you just use the term 'orc uncle'? Do orcs in your area still have a seniority system?"
Li Nuo asked, puzzled.
Pai Di waved his hand dismissively and said:
"Of course not. I learned the 'uncle' thing from shrimp. A shrimp exploration team landed on Gorkamoka and made a deal with our local green-skinned old men. I got along quite well with them, but..."
Paidi paused, a bitter, human expression appearing on his bony face:
"Alas, things changed later. Another group of shrimps appeared on the planet. We thought they were just here for fun, so we treated them to good food and drink. Who knew they would launch a sneak attack! How shameless!"
Paidi slapped his thigh in anger.
Li Nuo had some guesses in his mind.
Those who are on good terms with the Gorkamoka orcs may be spies of the human empire.
Under the guise of archaeology, they communicated with the orcs of Gorkamoka, secretly gathering information on the orcs' troop deployments.
When the time is right, the Imperial Army—oh no, there is no Imperial Army in the 35th millennium—should be called the Astral Army and the Imperial Navy.
When the time is right, the Astral Army and the Imperial Navy will come to eliminate the Orcs and bring Golkamorka into the Imperial territory.
There's nothing wrong with this process.
But Li Nuo couldn't understand why Paidi was inside the Void Whale's belly.
"Go on, what happened next? Why did you end up inside the Void Whale's belly?"
Faced with Li Nuo's persistent questioning, Paidi looked melancholy, indignant, and sorrowful:
"It was the blue-feathered bird's doing. While we were fighting the shrimp, that bastard tried to teleport a whole bunch of junk to our rear to wreak havoc. Luckily, our shaman kid discovered it in time and used magic to interfere with the blue-feathered bird's psionic energy, preventing the junk from teleporting over. However, there was a small mishap. The junk didn't teleport over, but the Void Whale's mouth did..."
“Oh, I see.” Li Nuo nodded. “And then you were swallowed up by the void, right?”
"Yeah, right. Wasn't that really unlucky?" Paidi paused, then blinked curiously and asked.
"By the way, where are you guys from? Your equipment is really good, much better than the kids back home."
Li Nuo did not answer the other party immediately.
He walked around Paidi, scanning him up and down, casting an appraisal spell to check his background, and then using the appraisal spell to examine the undead warriors, beetles, and scorpions under Paidi's command.
The panel information returned by the identification technique is very clean, without any chaotic corruption.
However, the absence of direct chaotic corruption does not mean that there is no blue-feathered bird at work behind the scenes.
He found himself in the sub-universe of the Rebellion Era, "fishing" in the net, and entered the belly of the Void Whale, only to encounter ribs from the sub-universe of the Apostate Era.
This just doesn't make sense.
Li Nuo subconsciously recalled what Angela had told him:
There are pathways to other sub-universes in the subspace, but only second-class and first-class souls can see these pathways.
Subspace creatures like Void Whales are at most considered third-class souls and do not possess the ability to travel between sub-universes.
If it weren't for the blue-feathered bird's treachery, Li Nuo wouldn't believe that the Void Whale from the Apostate Era would have voluntarily traveled to the Rebellion Era.
"Um, Pai Di."
Li Nuo pressed down with his right hand, hanging the bomb gun on his waist:
"My name is Bloodhand, and I can take you out of here. Since you know the name of the Blue-feathered Big Bird, you should know that this guy is no good, right?"
“Of course! Uncle Bloodhand!” Paidi kept calling him “uncle,” almost making Li Nuo awkwardly pick his toes, but he didn’t feel there was anything wrong with it and continued speaking to himself:
"The Blue-feathered Bird is the worst piece of junk in the entire galaxy! The uncles who raised me said that they made an emergency landing on Gorkamoka to escape the Blue-feathered Bird's junk fleet."
"Wait a minute, a lousy fleet?" Li Nuo was stunned, then surprised. "The blue-feathered bird has a fleet too?"
"Yes, and they're incredibly arrogant, claiming they were tricked out of the Shrimp Empire. Let me tell you, that blue-haired big bird is really cocky now, wherever he goes it's all about fighting, robbing, and killing..."
Pai Di spoke eloquently, recounting the current situation of the treacherous during the apostate era, which made Li Nuo's scalp tingle slightly.
There was a major villain in the Apostolic Age named Van Diehl.
This guy was originally a member of the Senate of Terra, but later got involved in the affairs of the state church and used intrigue to ascend to the position of pope, achieving success in both the Senate and the state church.
In order to consolidate his privileged position, Van Diehl ruthlessly suppressed any existence that could threaten him.
One day, he heard that in some corner of the Milky Way, there was a group of female believers who worshipped the God Emperor.
They were brave and skilled in battle, devout and fanatical, and had a considerable reputation.
In the eyes of the local state religion believers, whoever can gain the allegiance of these female believers can prove that he is the god-emperor's representative outside the palace.
So Van der went to deceive the group of female believers.
In the normal Warhammer lore, Van der staged a scene where he "shot himself with a gun but secretly protected himself with a rosary" to convince the female followers that she was protected by the God-Emperor and was immortal.
The scheme was clumsy, but the naive and innocent female believer fell for Van Dijk's lies and became his subordinate.
Van Diehl gave this group of female believers a name: "The Emperor's Bride".
Their other name is widely known among the Cloud Hammer community: "Battle Nuns".
The above is the official Warhammer history.
The Warhammer world is currently unpredictable and volatile, and Van Dill's life trajectory has undergone tremendous changes.
In the Apostolic Age sub-universe, the "female believers" recruited by Vandel were not the battle nuns of later generations, but rather fake believers disguised as the demon Tzeentch.
Van der walked right into Tzeentch's trap, where he was forcibly corrupted by Tzeentch's demonic possession of cream puffs and became Tzeentch's chief priest.
The female believer who was originally supposed to become "the Emperor's Bride" also became "Vandil's Bride"...
To be honest, Li Nuo almost couldn't hold back when he heard this; he had a feeling that the emperor was being cuckolded.
Back to topic.
After Van Diehl joined forces with the Blue-haired Bird, he led his forces to rebel against the Empire, established the Church of the Omniscient God, and widely propagated the heretical idea that the Lord of All Changes was the savior of mankind.
This statement is absurd, but it is very effective.
In the 35k era, the State Religion and the Imperial Senate exerted five times the oppression on the Imperial world as they did during the Great Crusade era.
The governor had to pay a commodity tax to the Imperial Senate and also contribute tithes and donations to the state church.
Under this dual pressure, many governors harbored thoughts of rebellion.
Van Diehl invoked the name of the Church of Omniscience, imposed massive tax cuts on the world under his rule, directly granted governors psychic powers, and transformed them into psychics to consolidate his rule.
The difference between the imperial state religion and the omniscient religion is self-evident.
Thus, Van der's power grew so much that even Golcamoka, located on the edge of the galaxy, was affected by him.
"Oh, I understand," Li Nuo said thoughtfully.
"The first shrimp exploration team to arrive at Gorkamoka came from the Human Empire. The second shrimp fleet to arrive at Gorkamoka was from Vandir."
"Yes, yes, that's exactly the situation." Paidi nodded repeatedly, as if pounding garlic. Li Nuo asked:
"Gorkamoka is on the edge of the Milky Way, where interstellar communication is inconvenient, so how do you know so much about it?"
"It's all because of that old man, Biden, Van Diehl," Paidi said angrily.
"After this guy founded the Church of the Omniscient God, he created something like a star torch, which he used to navigate his fleet and broadcast his great achievements to every corner of the galaxy around the clock. My psionic uncle is almost driven crazy by Van Dill's incessant nagging."
Paidi suddenly paused, a light shining in his dark eyes:
"Wait a minute. Didn't you guys hear that old man, Biden's, broadcast?"
Li Nuo smiled but didn't say anything.
Pai Di, despite being a bit eccentric, is quite quick-witted. He only just realized the key point after talking for a while, which shows he reacted relatively quickly.
"I'll tell you more about our situation after we leave here."
Li Nuo said with a serious expression:
“To tell you the truth, Paidi, we’re here to hunt this Void Whale. If you can help us take down the Void Whale, we’ll help you get out of here.”
“No problem. Tell me, what do you want me to do?” Paidi thumped his chest loudly.
Li Nuo asked:
"Tell me first, are there any other orcs here?"
“There are no other orcs besides me.” Paidi shook his head.
Li Nuo was too lazy to correct the other person's misconceptions, and thought for a moment before saying:
"Then tell me everything you know."
“Hmm.” Paidi pointed to a fork in the road behind the group. “My hideout is over there, with a dozen or so regeneration chambers and a swarm of scarabs. These mushroom-men I captured come to wreak havoc on my territory every now and then…”
Paidi spoke rapidly, using a thick orc accent, and described the situation inside the Void Whale's belly.
Didn't Li Nuo previously discover that the Void Whale was experiencing indigestion?
This is because the Void Whale accidentally swallowed the tomb of the Space Necromancer.
The tomb on Gorkamoka was severely damaged and fragmented into several sections.
The area where Paidi lived and worked was swallowed whole by the Void Whale.
This area is about the size of a pyramid and is almost entirely composed of active metal. How could the Void Whale possibly digest such a tough metal object?
As a result, there were many fluorescent fungal mats, while the gastric slime monsters suffered heavy casualties.
At this very moment, Paidi's tomb was stuck in the Void Whale's excretory passage, unable to move forward or backward, almost giving the Void Whale hemorrhoids.
To alleviate the strange sensations within his body, the Void Whale urged the Mushroom People to fight against the aliens, leading to a fierce battle between Paidi and the Mushroom People.
Li Nuo wanted to know if the Void Whale contained the Tzeentch Demon from the Apostate Era.
Paidi's reply was yes, and in great numbers.
The Void Whale has six stomach sacs.
The stomach in which everyone is currently located is the smaller one, and it is closer to the heart and throat.
The remaining five stomach sacs are approximately a thousand kilometers wide, with a drop of three to four kilometers between the ceiling and the floor.
The number of rotten things inside these five stomach sacs is enormous, but strangely, they just stay inside the stomach sacs and never expand outwards.
"Several times I've encountered rotten things in my intestines, but they didn't follow me to my stomach. And when they saw me, they didn't attack; they just retracted into their stomachs."
Paidi scratched his head and said:
"Those junkies are all lackeys of Blue Cat and Big Bird; I reckon their numbers are at least in the tens of millions. Oh, by the way, you can ask the Mushroom People. They should know about the other five stomach sacs."
The necromancer brought the mushroom man over.
The mushroom man is about 1.5 meters tall and looks like an enlarged version of a red-topped, white-spotted mushroom.
Many tentacles hang from their caps; most of them are sticky and secrete fluorescent fungal mats, while a small number of tentacles shimmer with light—these are external neural synapses used to sense the environment and communicate.
At first glance, the mushroom people seem to be a good match for the [Mushroom Farm] system.
But Li Nuo didn't want to tame them.
The main reason is that these kinds of creatures are very susceptible to being seduced by Nurgle.
Ancient Eldar records document numerous instances of hunting Void Whales, with three out of ten hunting incidents reportedly caused by Mushroom People being corrupted by the Nurgle Demon.
Li Nuo took out the "speaking spirit" and swallowed it, silently reciting in his mind:
"I want to learn the language of the mushroom people."
You have consumed a "talking aid."
You are trying to learn the mushroom people's mushroom language.
This requires 100 units of Universal Psionic Material.
[Currently, the supply of universal psionic materials is 10 units per 10 units.]
[Do you confirm your participation?]
"confirm."
Language knowledge flashed through his mind, and Li Nuo instantly understood the mushroom language.
He took out a data tablet, wrote a line of text on it, and used the data tablet's generator to turn the text into ultrasonic waves and emit them.
The five mushroom-like beings, who were being held down by the necromancer, heard the ultrasonic waves. Their tentacles, which were shimmering with a faint light, twitched a few times, and the light on their tentacles intensified.
The data board was illuminated by light and collected sound wave signals.
The signal was converted into a pixelated image, displaying several lines of text written in the Mushroom Language.
Thus, Li Nuo completed his first interaction with the mushroom man.
As Paidi said, the other five stomach sacs were filled with Blue Cat Bird's rotten stuff.
They empty the mushroom-like nests in their stomachs, seal off the esophagus connected to the stomachs, and prevent communication with the outside world.
It's odd that the Void Whale didn't ask the Mushroom People to attack the five stomach sacs.
Li Nuo flipped through the ancient Spirit Race knowledge on the data panel.
Upon witnessing a classic case of smuggling smuggled goods, his heart skipped a beat, and he roughly understood what the blue-feathered bird's purpose was.
"This rotten stuff is corrupting the Void Whale."
The beast was puzzled:
"Boss, can a Void Whale be corrupted inside its stomach sac?"
Li Nuo nodded and said:
"Yes, that works. The principle is similar to how a shrimp hallucinates after accidentally eating a poisonous mushroom. The corruption ritual that the rotten thing performs in its stomach will spread psionic toxins into the blood vessels of the stomach. With the help of blood circulation, the toxins enter the vital organs of the Void Whale and accumulate there. Once the psionic toxins reach a certain concentration, the Void Whale will be corrupted."
Based on ancient knowledge of the Spirit Race, Li Nuo estimated the time:
"They'll complete their corruption ritual in 72 more Terras. We need to hurry if we want to hunt down this Void Whale. Beast, calculate the blast angle; we'll blast our way to the Void Whale's heart."
"Roar!" The beast scanned everywhere with its scavenger, searching for the best blasting spot.
Paidi excitedly shook the staff in his hand:
"Take me with you, take me with you! My ribs can shoot, my ribs crab can chop, and my bugs can repair! You can ask me to do anything, just don't leave me behind, Uncle Bloodhand!"
When Li Nuo was called "uncle" by a skinny guy who had lived for who knows how many years, he almost spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Okay, okay, I'll take you one."
Li Nuo pointed at the mushroom man:
"Take care of them first, then remain vigilant."
"hold head high!"
Moments later, the beast found the perfect spot to detonate.
Once the explosives were in place, they were detonated immediately.
After the loud explosion, a huge hole appeared on the wall of the stomach sac, revealing a dense network of blood vessels that made one's scalp crawl.
After navigating through the network of blood vessels on the surface of the stomach and using a laser cutter to pierce the diaphragm between the stomach and the heart, the group arrived at an extremely open area.
This is the chest cavity of the Void Whale, where a massive sternum supports a space spanning millions of square kilometers. Three hearts float in the center of this space, connected to the diaphragm in all directions via blood vessels and neural networks.
Two of the three hearts had turned blue, emitting an eerie blue light, leaving only the middle one barely maintaining its blood-red color.
As Li Nuo led his team to this place, hundreds of flashes of light rapidly approached.
The device that locates objects issues an alarm:
"Kids, watch out! That blue-feathered bird thing is attacking! I've detected a lot of Zeta-level psionic energy fluctuations inside! Don't let your guard down!"
The Void Whale is currently in subspace.
Tzeentch's spatial teleportation ability is working normally, as evidenced by the streaks of light flying towards him at high speed.
