Chapter 9: More Zombies

Whether her parents can come back, whether something will happen to them, or whether something has already happened.

This was not within Bai Li's consideration and had nothing to do with her.

It was good enough that she didn't just throw the child out and ignore him.

Bai Li left a note for her son and put it on her pillow so that she would be the first thing he saw when he woke up and couldn't see her.

Then he took off his pajamas and changed into sportswear, then took a long knife and went to Wenwen's home on the sixth floor.

The little girl was convinced by her last words. She really wanted to see her parents as soon as they came back. Of course, she was also more afraid that they would leave her behind.

After Wenwen used her fingerprint to open the door of her room 602, Bai Li did not rush in. Instead, she stood at the door vigilantly and looked around.

The main light in the living room was on, so bright that one could tell at a glance whether there was anyone there.

Not only were the lights on in the living room, but the lights in every bedroom, bathroom, and even the kitchen were on, which was completely different from her home.

Even though she had just pulled Wenwen in, she only turned on a small light in the entrance.

After making sure it was safe, Bai Li followed Wenwen in.

"Auntie, don't you want to change your shoes?"

After Wenwen changed her shoes, she was stunned to see Bai Li walking directly into the living room wearing sneakers.

She thought she didn't see the slippers, so she pointed under the shoe cabinet at the entrance and said, "My mother's slippers are there, you can wear hers."

"no need."

Bai Li urged her directly, "It's very late now, go back to your bedroom and sleep, I'll be in the living room."

Wenwen wanted to say something, but Baili said, "If you don't sleep, I'll go back to my home."

The little girl immediately felt wronged again, and nodded with tears in her eyes, "I'll sleep, I'll sleep now."

Originally, she wanted to ask this aunt to stay at her house until dawn, or until her parents came back, but seeing her cold look, she didn't dare to say it.

This was not at all what her mother had told her.

Her mother said that she was young and cute, and no one would refuse her requests to adults.

But this aunt kept rejecting her. What's wrong with her?

Wenwen hugged her pillow and went to her parents' room to sleep. Before going in, she looked back at Bai Li.

"Go."

Bai Li stood beside the sofa in the living room, waved at her, thought for a moment and said, "I will turn off the main light in your living room later, leaving only the small light. It's best to turn off the main light in the bedroom as well, okay?"

A child this young would feel insecure when he is alone at home even if all the lights are on.

It’s hard to say what will happen in the future, but Bai Li always feels that it’s a bit dangerous to leave the lights on late at night.

The main reason is that she is too eye-catching, especially since she is the only child in the family.

Wenwen was quite receptive and agreed to turn off the main lights, leaving only the bedside lamp in the bedroom.

Then he lay on the bed, blinking his eyes and looking at Bai Li.

"Go to sleep. As long as you lock the door, no one can open it if they knock. Your home is still safe."

Wenwen nodded and closed her eyes obediently.

After all, he was young and had been frightened all day, so after a while, Bai Li heard the sound of even breathing.

She closed the bedroom door gently, stood in the living room and looked around, and found that there was still a lot of food in her house.

Maybe it’s because there are two children in the family, the cabinet dedicated to snacks is full of them, from bottom to top, pure milk, yogurt, nuts, cereal, potato chips.
Fortunately, it’s enough to last for a while.

Before leaving, she went to the kitchen and found that her house also had two large barrels of mineral water, so she didn't have to worry.

After thinking about it, Bai Li rummaged through her cupboards, found the rice, and then took out two chicken legs from the refrigerator.

Compared with the snack cabinet outside, the refrigerator looks really empty.

But it is understandable. After all, Wenwen said that her brother was sick. It is not easy to take care of two children, one of whom is sick. It is normal that she does not have time to buy groceries.

I have met their family in the elevator many times, and every time I would hear Wenwen's father complaining about her mother in a low and unhappy voice -
"I made an appointment with someone at eleven o'clock. What time is it now?"

"You always drag your feet when you go out. Why do you go out like that?"

"Knowing how much stuff you need to bring, couldn't you have prepared earlier? Would you have died if you had prepared a few minutes earlier?"

"You're still wearing makeup. If you put on this, people won't know you're a housewife? Do you think you're a white-collar worker?"

"Can't you remind your child to go to the toilet before you go out? If you can't do this, what else can you do?"

There are many more words like this, which shows that her father doesn't care about the family. Even if the child is sick, it is probably all her mother's fault.

Of course, these have nothing to do with Baili.

She spent a few minutes preparing and marinating the chicken thighs, then put them in the rice cooker along with the rice.

When she wakes up tomorrow morning, she can at least have hot chicken leg rice for breakfast and lunch.

After doing all this, Bai Li hurried downstairs and returned to her home.

But she had just quietly walked back to the fifth floor. Although she had tried her best to make her footsteps light, it was too quiet in the middle of the night. Even the slightest tapping sound seemed to travel far away, echoing among the units on only six floors.

"Ho ho."

The voice came from downstairs, causing Bai Li to stop stretching out her hand to press fingerprints.

She turned around, held the long knife in front of her, and looked downstairs vigilantly.

The door of 401 was closed, there was nothing at the door, and it seemed very quiet.

wrong
Bai Li thought for two seconds, then raised her feet and walked downstairs as quietly as possible.

"boom!"

"Ho ho."

After turning the corner of the stairs and being only a few steps away from 401, Bai Li determined the direction of the sound this time.
is 401!

It seemed like something hit the door just now, and then a hoarse sound was heard from inside.

The sound was close to the door, so it was very obvious when it entered the corridor.

She opened her mouth slightly in surprise. The couple was at home and didn't go to work during the day?
So the hoarse sound she heard actually came from room 401, not the grandma in room 302?

After confirming the situation in Room 401, Bai Li did not stay on the stairs for long and turned around to go home.

It was almost midnight. It took her one hour and twenty minutes to go out and come back.

Fortunately, little Jiang Qi was still sleeping soundly, without any sign of waking up.

No matter how much she comforted me during the day and told me not to be afraid, I had been observing the stimulation outside for a whole day. Not to mention being extremely nervous, I was definitely very nervous.

So the little guy is really tired.

Bai Li was actually tired too, but after all this trouble, she was no longer sleepy.

There was only a small orange night light on in the bedroom, and the curtains were blackout, so there was no need to worry about being seen by people outside.

Gently closing the bedroom door, Bai Li walked out to the balcony in the dark.

When she opened the curtains a little, she was surprised to find that there were more zombies outside.

At nine o'clock, Qiqi counted before going to bed and said there were eighteen.

But now it's probably more than thirty-eight, and that's just the non-motorized vehicle lane and the road facing her window.

Her house was not far from the gate. Originally, there were only six or seven zombies wandering around the gate. She was worrying about how to lead them away so that Bao Xiaolin could enter the community smoothly when she came back.

But now there is a group of people standing at the door.

Soon Bai Li knew why so many zombies came here.
