Chapter 5: Fortune Teller

Based on the fortune teller's intuition, An He changed the subject.

"Mr. Miyano, I want to ask you an academic question."

Miyano Shiho seemed a little surprised, as if she had not expected to hear the word "academic" from him.

"Your look is offensive." An He understood the look and felt helpless.

"go ahead."

"How can we convince a person who doesn't believe in divination that there are real fortune tellers in the world?"

Miyano Shiho finished her sandwich, threw away the packaging, walked to the long table with ease and made herself a cup of hot coffee. She looked at me strangely when she heard this.

"After audience, you have a new job to change to? Mr. Fortune Teller?"

"It's just a rational discussion on a very interesting topic." An He did not comment.

"Then you're asking the wrong person."

Miyano Shiho shook her head and brushed her hair away. "If you ask me how to expose the true nature of divination, I will tell you that it is a combination of probability theory and big data. But if you ask me how to make others believe in divination, I have to be frank. In my eyes, there is no 'real' fortune teller. If there is, it is not a human, but a supercomputer with superior computing power."

“That’s kind of an answer.”

An He was not upset by her answer. He nodded calmly to show his understanding.

"Another problem."

"Ok?"

"How long do I have to lie in this damn 'bed'?"

"That depends on your own recovery."

Miyano Shiho put down the kitten cup, turned on the computer, and accurately picked out one from a pile of messy folders. She opened it and found Anhe's real-time life detection status, which seemed to be connected to the machines next to the research table.

"At least before you came here, you were still in a state of quadriplegia and semi-shock. Even when I injected you with a dose of norethisterone, it didn't keep you awake. At that time, I almost thought you would never wake up."

"Do you need me to praise your medical skills, teacher?"

"If you think stating the facts is a form of boasting."

Miyano Shiho didn't feel embarrassed at all.

"The good news is that your nervous system is very good at self-healing. After two rounds of surgery and recuperation over the past few days, you will recover quickly. You should be able to get out of bed and resume your activities in a few days."

"That would be great news, if I hadn't heard the one-week deadline."

"Are you so eager to become a test subject?"

"I was wrong, Mr. Miyano."

When you are bedridden, time often passes quickly, but from a physical perspective, the unbearable loneliness and inability to move make you feel like each day is a torment that lasts for years.

This also made the fortune teller An He curse the thief An He as a cunning guy more than once on the Mind Island.

Soon, five days later, An He's body recovered to the point where he could respond to commands in a timely manner and get out of bed and move around.

But this does not mean that he is completely free. On the contrary, a boring rehabilitation life has arrived.

Compared to allowing the body to recover naturally, rehabilitation, which requires the body to "adapt" to the brain's activities, is much longer. It took An He half a month to regain the reaction and physical strength that a normal person should have.

During this period, the sinister man with long silver hair came to the research institute twice. An He matched him with the male voice he had heard before, and recognized from his very obvious appearance that he was Gin, one of the few men in the world who could be called the "number one villain".

As for the square-faced man in sunglasses who follows him all day, he must be Vodka.

An He could tell from his several encounters with Miyano Shiho that this man didn't like his teacher, especially when he learned that An He would need so much time for rehabilitation, his impatience was written on his face. But in the end, he didn't say anything and left without saying a word, leaving behind the choking smell of cigarettes.

An He saw his teacher who disliked the smell of cigarettes frowning several times, but he didn't dare to say anything.

Although he didn't know why he wanted to "recruit" a half-useless guy like himself, it was obvious that Gin didn't just want him to be a "student" who only lived a life of idleness and waiting to die in this research institute, but had more and deeper plans. Anhe couldn't guess it for the time being, but he also felt a sense of urgency.

Promotion is imminent.

After the rehabilitation was completed, and with Shiho Miyano helping him hide the results of the mental state assessment from Gin, Anhe finally no longer had to wear that hateful straitjacket, nor did he have to return to that disgusting "hospital bed".

On an ordinary morning, Miyano Shiho gave Anhe a full body check-up and told him the good news.

"Congratulations, you're officially out of this mess, Awa-kun."

"So it's not Awa-kun."

"Let's go and arrange accommodation for you."

Miyano Shiho seemed not to hear it. She walked into the elevator and pressed the button for the basement floor.

"Residence? I thought I would live in this research institute forever." An He was a little surprised.

"How can it be."

Miyano Shiho didn't hide her surprise. She glanced at him and suddenly frowned: ".Are you using a new trick to mock me?"

"You're overthinking it, Mr. Miyano."

"I always think you're thinking 'she must be a shady, sleepy, office-bound workaholic who eats, drinks and sleeps in the office every day', something like that."

".Is this a woman's intuition?"

"I am not as good as you, the 'Fortune Teller'."

An He didn't respond.

Miyano Shiho sighed, realizing that this guy really thought he was only allowed to operate within the company, and she couldn't help feeling a little complicated.

"No matter how limited my freedom is, I am the person in charge of the entire experimental project. I still have an apartment to live in, so I don't have to live in an office all the time. So put away your pathetic and ignorant thoughts."

"Yes, kind, generous and knowledgeable Mr. Miyano."

"You shouldn't claim to be a spectator or a fortune teller."

"What should that be?"

Miyano Shiho sneered: "You can be an excellent provocateur."

The elevator door opened and the topic ended.

An He felt a little uncomfortable with the cold atmosphere. He walked out of the elevator, looked around, and started the next topic.

"I didn't expect that Mr. Miyano, at such a young age, already has a car and a house."

"My knowledge is worthy of this salary. Don't underestimate the value of completing a doctorate at the age of 18 and publishing an SCI paper independently."

"Oh, so Mr. Miyano is eighteen years old." Anhe nodded with satisfaction.

Miyano Shiho paused, his eyes turned cold, and his pace suddenly quickened.

"I was still wrong. It seems you are already an experienced scammer."
