Chapter 2 Security Referendum
“Am I special?”

The fortune teller An He suddenly had a bold idea. He did not forget that he woke up in the physical body before entering the island of the mind. Does this mean that he has higher control than the other two An Hes?
"You're overthinking it. We all woke up in the flesh."

Audience member An He saw through his thoughts and quickly poured cold water on them.

The fortune teller An He did not believe it. He just put away his thoughts and began to look at the other two selves.

The thief An He retracted his gaze, and seeing the tense atmosphere, he smiled: "Don't be so serious, have you noticed? When we see each other, some information will appear in our minds. Now we should all be clear about one fact - although we are divided into three parts, each of us has all the memories and personality of the past 'An He'."

The fortune teller An He remained noncommittal, while the audience member An He made no reaction.

"Of course, we all know ourselves. It's impossible for us to accept other 'selves' without any reservations, so we should still have some rules and regulations for some things."

The thief An He was clearly a person without any credibility, but he acted as an arbitrator very naturally, which made the fortune teller An He and the audience An He look strange.

"What do you want to say?"

The fortune teller An He guessed part of this "himself"'s thoughts, but still asked tentatively.

"Although we are the same person, we have been split up after all. No matter what, we can't empathize with each other all the time. Moreover, we are on different paths, and we must abide by different rules of acting if we want to advance in the future."

The thief An He looked relaxed and offered his own suggestion: "So from now on, let's treat each other as independent individuals."

"I agree." An He, a viewer who had been silent for a long time, raised his hand.

The fortune teller An He thought about it and had no objection.

The thief An He was not surprised by this, and continued, "After being promoted to a higher sequence, the three of us all have the ability to 'separate', but now we are all just ordinary Sequence 9. Before we can go out independently, we need to discuss how to control this body."

"From this point of view, we have no fundamental conflict of interest with other selves."

The fortune teller An He nodded. From the perspective of the extraordinary path, at least there is no need to worry about a fight over the control of the body one day. In the later stages of the three paths, similar operations such as "clone" can be performed.

And from the information that emerged in my mind, the advancement after the time travel is simpler than in the mysterious world. There is no need to mix potions. One only needs to digest the role-playing and complete the "new ritual" to be promoted safely.

Although he didn't know how it worked, the fortune teller's spiritual intuition told him that it was feasible.

"So who's going to go first?"

The initial consensus among different wills has become the most pressing issue and the first topic to be addressed in the "National Security Referendum".

"Although I was only conscious for a short while, I feel that our situation is not good now." The fortune teller An He recalled the fragmentary fragments before he fell into a coma.

"You can only do simple divination at the moment, and my ability to steal has been enhanced, and my fingers are more flexible. In this case, the audience's ability to read people's expressions is obviously more practical."

The thief An He had no intention of showing off and recommended the audience An He without hesitation.

"I'll try to figure out the situation." Audience member An He nodded without refusing, but also without making any promises.

"It's okay, just do your best."

The fortune teller An He comforted her with understanding, and then he remembered something: "Oh, right, I always feel that the person I saw before I fainted looks familiar. He should be someone we know. We can try to start from this point and figure out what world this is."

Audience An He expressed his understanding.

With the other two Anhe not showing any obvious rejection, the audience member Anhe easily completed the ascent and disappeared into the island of the mind.

After he disappeared, the fog outside the island suddenly rolled up and turned into a curtain, and a slightly blurry scene emerged above it.

Then the voice of the audience member An He rang out, sounding a little ethereal: "It seems that we can still have simple communication."

The thief An He pondered: "It feels a bit like my Sequence 4 parasite, but it is much more equal than a parasite. All of us have similar permissions."

“It’s better this way, we can brainstorm together.”

The fortune teller An He was very satisfied with this pattern and shouted to the sky: "Hey, what is your promotion ceremony?"

"You don't have to be so loud. We are communicating through our minds." The audience An He complained, and then replied: "It's relatively easy for me to become a mind reader. After satisfying the role rules of 'audience is just audience' and 'absolute neutrality', I just need to witness an event that can change someone's fate."

"Tsk."

The fortune teller An He was a little unhappy. Compared with the audience's, his ceremony was much more complicated.

So he used his elbow to poke the thief An He next to him: "What about you?"

"Me?" The thief An He smiled faintly.

"To steal a stolen item of sufficient value from another thief."

"."

The fortune teller An He began to doubt his life.

"So what is your ritual, so melancholy?"

".At least I can get the recognition of a person who doesn't believe in divination, and make him firmly believe that I am a real divination master."

The thief An He was silent for a while.

"That's pretty abstract indeed."

Fortune teller An He was speechless: "How can people who don't believe in fortune telling believe that I'm a 'real' fortune teller?"

"Then I'll ask you, fortune teller."

The thief An He joked with a smile, then ran away to look at the curtain of the sea of fog.

When An He woke up, there was no one around him. He subconsciously wanted to move, but felt a very strong force.

An He lowered his head and found that he was lying on a research table similar to a hospital bed, with a straitjacket tied around his body, the kind used on extreme patients in mental hospitals.

He temporarily gave up the unrealistic idea of escaping and began to look around.

This should be a laboratory. It is fully equipped with equipment. There are many unidentifiable materials on the shelf nearby. There are various bottles and jars on the long table next to the computer desk. The faucet of the washbasin seems to be not closed tightly. A drop of water drips every few seconds, hitting the iron sheet and making a slight "tick-tick" sound.

There was a huge shadowless lamp above the research table, but it was not turned on.

Operating room?
Looking at the straitjacket on his body, An He quickly ruled out this speculation.

That should be the laboratory.

Suddenly, there were chaotic footsteps outside the door, and light conversations came from far away, forcing An He to stop observing, slow down his breathing, and take a nap.

".Confirm his mental state. I want to see him able to move freely within a week at the latest."

This was a cold and indifferent male voice, with a slightly hoarse undertone.

The one who responded to him was a clear and cold female voice as sweet as a silver bell, the same one that An He had heard before.

"I see."

"If you don't meet the standards, just send it to be used as a test subject. I don't want to waste time on useless people. You'd better not do too many tricks in this regard, Shirley."

"You guys have abused the unfinished product at will, are you still afraid that I will do something?"

The footsteps stopped, and the man seemed to stare at her for a while, then sneered mockingly.

"Don't get too carried away. Remember who you are."

After a brief silence, the heavy footsteps gradually faded away.
