The old things I repaired have become fine

Chapter 3 This house can charge copper sheets!

Chapter 3 This house can charge copper sheets!
Just do it.

Shen Lequan inspected the house and put down his luggage in the first wing room to the east of the main house in the third courtyard, which was also the only air-conditioned room in the entire house. Then, he rolled up his sleeves and started working:
In order to verify whether the copper sheet can be charged by repairing these objects, it is undoubtedly necessary to shorten the repair time as much as possible to get the results as soon as possible. In this case, it is very important to choose the repair object.

Shen Le walked through the three courtyards from beginning to end and chose the first object to be restored - a small rosewood screen with gold-painted landscape and pavilion patterns in the corner of the west wing of the second courtyard.

This one was chosen because the restoration work was minimal: its legs were loose, the screen was askew, the wood had lost its luster, and the gilt patterns on the surface had become dull and faded over the years.

There was no breakage, no rot, no missing parts, no need to saw wood on site and then make a similar shape to patch it in. Shen Le was confident that he could fix it within a day and see the results on the same day.

"start!"

He first spread out a bed sheet and spread it on the small table next to the bedroom, using it as a workbench. Then, he took out a rubber hammer from his suitcase and began to gently tap the screen:

If you want to remove these parts, you can't use an ordinary hammer, which will damage the object being repaired. With an ordinary hammer, one hit will leave a dent in the wood, two hits will leave cracks in the wood, and three hits will make the wood break. That's not restoring ancient buildings, that's destroying ancient buildings.

Only a rubber hammer with a rubber head, which is soft and has good shock absorption, can dismantle the components of old wooden objects without damage:

Ding ding ding, ding ding ding, first remove the feet at the bottom of the screen, then the feet above, the left and right sides of the screen, and the front and back sides, the four curling grass-shaped teeth used to fix the standing columns;

After the station teeth are removed, remove the two dark brown station posts fixed by the station teeth;
Then there is the main body of the screen between the two pillars:

At the bottom, there are wavy aprons; above the aprons, there are long wooden boards supporting the center of the screen, which are also crossbeams carved with orchids.
On the left and right sides of the screen, there are carved ribbons with swastika patterns.
Finally, the screen with gold-painted landscape and pavilion patterns was separated from all external supports and wrappings. It was held alone in Shen Le's hand and placed flat in the upper left corner of the workbench with great care.

Just by dismantling these, Shen Le broke into a sweat. After a short break, he picked them up one by one and checked the mortise and tenon structure of each component:

"Ah... at least a hundred years have passed, and these mortise and tenon joints are indeed a bit loose..."

Fortunately, as a master's student majoring in ancient building restoration, Shen Le has become very familiar with repairing this loose part.

He first wiped each part clean to remove dust and dirt on the surface, then opened the toolbox, took out the smallest spatula, held his breath, and began to gently scrape away the dirt in the mortise.

The screen was placed on the table as a decoration. The smallest mortise holes on the various parts were so small that even the little finger could not fit in. Fortunately, the mortise holes were all square or trapezoidal, without any arcs. He only had to shovel straight across them:
Once, once, and again. The 6mm wide flat-blade spatula is made of chrome-vanadium alloy steel. It can easily remove the stains in the mortise holes, even if it is not as good as cutting iron.

The only downside is that you have to be very careful when moving it so as not to cause additional damage to the mortise. It's already a little loose, so you can't afford to chip away some of it!
The good news is that every part of this screen is made of red sandalwood. Even after years, the wood has not rotted, and the inside of the mortise and tenon holes is only slightly soft. After scraping and trimming, Shen Le took out sandpaper and roughly sanded each part of the screen:
"Well, that's it!"

Next is the most important part, which has the greatest impact on the appearance of the screen, the screen center with gold-painted landscape and pavilion patterns. The small screen center is one foot wide and half a foot high, with exquisite patterns and intricate brushstrokes.

Shen Le rummaged through the suitcase, took out the gold paint, selected the thinnest brush, and began to paint the gold pattern on the center of the screen:
"Hey, luckily I still have some gold paint left... Fortunately the boss was generous and let us take the remaining paint away after graduation. Gold paint is so precious..." Not only is it expensive, but it is also troublesome to apply. Each stroke of the landscape on the screen is as fine as a hair, and can only be licked up bit by bit with the tip of a sheep's hair brush. Even if it was just to repaint it, and only to repaint the parts that faded the most, it took Shen Le a full two hours.

After the last stroke was finished, Shen Le let out a long breath and wiped it with his backhand. Even though the air conditioner was turned on at full power and blew towards him, a thin layer of sweat covered his forehead.

He took out the wood glue and applied a thin layer of it to the mortise and tenon holes. He reassembled the parts one by one and fixed them with wood clamps. He couldn't help but punch his shoulder with his backhand:

"Logically, the screen should be carefully sanded twice, once with 400-grit sandpaper and once with 600-grit sandpaper... and then repainted, at least three times, to restore its luster..."

Shen Le stepped back slightly and looked up and down at the screen:
"But if you want to be lazy, this can be considered a fix..."

He lowered his head and covered his belly, pressing it back with a slight "gurgle" sound. He stood up from the table, moving his neck and shoulders while pulling out the red rope around his neck, and lowered his head to look at the ancestral copper plate:
"Yes! There really is a change!"

On the dark and deep copper sheet, there was originally only a suspected protrusion that could be seen but not touched. But now, the protrusion has been extended a little and turned a corner. At first glance, it looks like a stroke on a bronze inscription.

“It can indeed be charged!”

Shen Le let go of the copper sheet, clenched his fists, and waved them vigorously:
It can be recharged, so you don’t have to look for antiques everywhere!
No need to work so hard to pass the exam!
There is no need to review the civil service exam or the essay test so hard. After a day of practicing questions, I feel like my head has become square!

Oh no, it's not square, it's square with rounded corners, a little similar to the shape of the copper sheet in his hand...

He waved it once, twice, and three times. Soon, a wave of heat surged from the copper sheet, pushing Shen Le to dance involuntarily:

Stand with your feet apart, lift your arms up, inhale; press your arms down, exhale; clench your fists, raise them above your head, inhale; clench your fists, pull them down, bend over and press them to your hips, exhale...

Lift your arms, stretch them forward, and pounce like a tiger; take a step, turn your waist, and move downward like a deer; lift your hips, step down, sit back, and lean forward like a bear shaking...

After a set of movements, Shen Le was sweating all over, but he also felt warm all over and relaxed everywhere. After moving into this mansion, in the cold house, in the constant air conditioning, bending over and working hard, the stiffness of the muscles and bones brought by it has been swept away.

More importantly, that heat flow! Heat flow! Until now, his lower abdomen was still a little hot, a feeling he had never experienced before!
"Could this be inner strength? So, repairing a screen will guarantee me inner strength?"

 Please watch this every day!
During the period when a new book is released, it is very important to follow up on the reading, as it will be related to the recommendations later!

  Please everyone!
