Chapter 5 Roger's Path to Immortality

Dumbledore gave Minerva McGonagall a task, which was to observe Roger more.

He hopes to better guide Roger onto the right path by further understanding his inner world.

Tom Riddle's tragedy happened once, and he didn't want to see it happen again.

Professor McGonagall's approach to this task was not to conduct covert observation like a spy. In her opinion, communication was the only right way for those children with heavy hearts.

Those so-called "for your own good" concealment will only make their hearts drift away from you. Only by being open and honest can you narrow the distance between you.

Only by becoming someone truly close to them can you have a chance to untie their knots.

So after confirming that Roger's mind was far more mature than that of the average young wizard, Minerva McGonagall planned to talk to him about some more in-depth topics.

For example, future life plans.

Professor McGonagall helped him a lot both at the funeral and in answering his magical questions later, so Roger naturally chose to be frank about these issues which he thought there was no need to keep secret.

"I'm not going to the Ministry of Magic, nor am I going to return to Muggle society. I want to study magic."

"If nothing unexpected happens, I will devote much of the rest of my life to the study of magic. I want to know everything about magic." Roger replied.

Professor McGonagall could sense that Roger's answer was not perfunctory, but rather serious. It was not the usual childish words of admiration such as "I want to go to the Ivy League" or "I want to be a scientist or a big star."

He really intended to make the study of magic the main theme of his life.

"Why?" Professor McGonagall asked subconsciously, somewhat puzzled.

Normally, most people want to be successful and become great people.

Even for children who want to be scientists, their goal is generally to become a great scientist like Einstein who is famous in history and invents many amazing things.

Rather than simply being fascinated by knowledge, I just want to learn more and uncover the mysteries of the world.

So Roger's answer surprised Professor McGonagall a little.

"Because I don't want to die." Roger gave Professor McGonagall a gentle smile.

"Huh?" After hearing his answer, Minerva McGonagall became even more confused.

"Professor, do you like this world?"

Without waiting for Minerva McGonagall to answer, Roger asked himself, "I like it very much."

"After thousands of years of slash-and-burn farming, the development of human civilization has finally entered the fast lane."

"If you study the logic of the world, even a Muggle can control wind, fire, thunder and lightning, and make the sun bloom on the earth."

“The transformation of productivity and production relations has liberated the shackles of thought. Capital, communism, constitutional monarchy…all kinds of new civilization concepts have blossomed.”

"Movies, television, comics, everyone has the opportunity to present their inner world to the world to appreciate."

Roger said maybe here, but he is sure that the universe outside the universe must exist, because he himself is a visitor from another universe!
At the end of the war, on the flight back to Britain, Roger was actually a little confused while sitting on the plane.

Escaping from the quagmire of hell and welcoming peace did not bring happiness, but emptiness. Just like those veterans who were unable to integrate into society, Roger didn't know what to do next.

“I want to see all the wonders of the world, I want to meet countless interesting souls, and I want to appear in one wonderful story after another.”

He wanted too much, he didn't want all the possibilities, everything he had never seen, everything he had never obtained, to be lost in the torrent of time along with his aging self.

Just like tears disappear in the rain.

"Human life is too fragile. A cheap bullet is enough to take it away. Even if a prophet like me can avoid those malicious bullets, I cannot avoid the gunshot from 'time'."

"I didn't want this, so I made a choice."

He doesn't want to die, he wants to live forever.

And this is not impossible to achieve in the magical world!

In "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", Nicolas Flamel, the owner of the Sorcerer's Stone, lived for more than 600 years.

This road exists, and you may be able to go further!
Minerva McGonagall was speechless for a long time as she looked at Roger's eyes that seemed to reflect the starry sky and sparkled with brilliant light.

"Professor." Roger withdrew his gaze from the sky and looked at Minerva McGonagall.

"Aren't you curious? How far can wizards, Muggles, and humans go in the end? Don't you want to see it with your own eyes?" Roger asked in a seductive deep voice.

"Infinite time means infinite possibilities. If you give a monkey infinite time and a typewriter, the probability that it can type out Hamlet is almost 100%. If you give a wizard infinite time and magic, maybe... the wizard can gain the ability to reverse everything, eliminate all regrets, and obtain all desires."
