Chapter 94: Soaring in the Hundred-foot Tower

When Zhao Ti saw the white shadow in the water, his eyes narrowed involuntarily. It seemed to be a small snake, but also seemed to be a sword?

The white shadow disappeared in an instant, and he asked, "Did you see anything?"

Tong Guan said: "Sir, they are all fish, nothing else is seen."

Ah Zhu nodded: "Indeed, there are only fish."

Zhao Ti thought about it, frowned, and walked to the other side of the bridge. Then he walked along the lakeshore for an unknown period of time. He saw a series of gentle hills in front of him with dense trees and lush greenery. On top of the hills stood a magnificent tower. He stopped involuntarily.

"Sir, this seems to be the Huangfei Pagoda, which was built by Qian Chu, the king of Wuyue, to enshrine the Buddha's hair and relics." Ah Zhu said crisply.

Zhao Ti nodded. In fact, it was Leifeng Pagoda, and it was called this name during that dynasty.

He looked up at the Leifeng Pagoda, which had eight sides and thirteen stories, was a hundred feet high and towered into the sky.

This is different from later generations. The Leifeng Pagoda in later generations experienced several reconstructions during wars and was not as tall as it is now, with only a few floors.

At this time, dark clouds gradually gathered in the sky, a cool breeze blew in from the lake, and the sky became a little gloomy.

"Sir, it looks like it's going to rain." Ah Zhu said, looking at the sky.

As soon as she finished speaking, she saw huge black clouds covering the sky and the sun. The wind was getting stronger and stronger, and there was already a smell of mist.

Then, in just a moment, the sky became as dark as ink, with faint golden lines flashing in the clouds, and heavy rain was coming.

Zhao Ti looked around and saw no place to hide from the rain. He looked at Leifeng Pagoda again and said, "Let's go over there to take shelter."

A few people were walking in the mountains. There were not many tourists on the road. The path was sparse and the leaves on both sides rustled in the wind. They were only halfway there when heavy rain poured down.

Ah Zhu opened an oil-paper umbrella, which was white, pink and tender green in color, dotted with a few small flowers, and held it for Zhao Ti. In the wind and rain, the paper umbrella fluttered and the figure was hazy, like a beautiful landscape painting.

The hill was not big or high. After walking a short distance, I saw bluestone steps with moss hiding in the cracks. After stepping on them for a while, I arrived in front of Leifeng Pagoda.

The tower is very majestic when viewed up close, with eight sides and thirteen floors, each of which has Buddha statues in bright colors that become even brighter as they are washed by rain. The Buddhas on top seem to come alive under the rain, looking at all living beings with compassion in their eyes.

"Sir, I wonder if we can enter this tower." Ah Zhu said. Half of her body was wet by the wind and rain, and she was shivering.

Zhao Ti looked towards the Zen gate under Leifeng Pagoda. There was actually a monk in charge of Leifeng Pagoda. Although it was not open to the public on weekdays, there were indeed people inside. Both Shouning Zen Temple not far away and Leifeng Pagoda had received imperial decrees from the Song Dynasty.

He walked forward and pushed gently, and the tall tower door actually opened. He saw that the inside was spacious, and there were green lights lit in the recesses, illuminating a dim area.

A few people walked in, and Zhao Ti looked at the walls around him. There were murals painted on them, all of which were things recorded in Buddhist scriptures: the Buddha preaching, Venerable Kashyapa smiling while picking up a flower, the Buddha's nirvana, the devil coming from the sky, and the Bodhi tree covering the earth with the Buddha's real body printed on it.

Apart from some simple utensils and the smell of sandalwood, the place was empty, with no one to be seen. At this time, Zhou Tong walked around and came back: "Sir, there is no sound, so the monks must be on the upper floor, right?"

Tong Guan said: "I have heard that Buddhist pagodas have underground palaces. Could it be that he hid down there and took a nap?"

Ah Zhu said, "This pagoda has a Buddha's hair relic guarding the underground palace. The underground palace is sealed, how dare the monks go down?"

Tong Guan shook his head: "That may not be the case. The monks of the Daxiangguo Temple in Tokyo even opened a restaurant in the temple and sold barbecued meat."

Ah Zhu was surprised and asked, "Is there such a thing?"

Tong Guan was about to start a fight with the monks at Xiangguo Temple when a voice suddenly came from behind the second stone staircase in the distance. Zhao Ti narrowed his eyes, and Zhou Tong hurriedly said, "I'll go over there."

Before he could take a step, he heard a sudden "pop" sound behind the stone steps, a thick bluestone slab was lifted up, and then a monk crawled out from the ground.

"Look, look, the little girl is just ignorant. This monk has sneaked into the underground palace!" Tong Guan said.

The monk came out and saw Zhao Ti and his men, and immediately shouted, "Where did these criminals come from? Leave now. The Huang Fei Pagoda is not open to the public. Everyone, get out."

Zhao Ti looked at the monk, his face was full of ferocity and there was no mercy at all. The monks in Leifeng Pagoda all belonged to Shouning Zen Temple not far away, which was the Jingci Temple in later generations, and the place pointed by the evening bell of Nanping.

"Why is there blood on Master's body?" Zhao Ti said indifferently.

"Blood? Where is the blood?" The monk was stunned. He lowered his head and saw a few drops of blood on the front of his robe. His expression suddenly turned ferocious: "You are looking for death. I can't let you go!"

Just as he was about to move forward, there was another noise coming from the underground palace beside the stone steps. This time it was very loud, like the sound of fighting, which gradually became clearer and came towards the entrance.

The monk looked back and his face suddenly changed. Just as he was about to go to the door, he suddenly heard long howls and screams from the entrance of the underground palace. Then there was a loud "boom", rocks flew everywhere, and a man in white jumped out.

The man in white was about forty years old, with a handsome appearance, but he looked a little disheveled at the moment. Many of his white clothes were torn, and there was a long scar on his arm.

He howled continuously, hurriedly and anxiously, and rushed straight to the second floor of the tower.

Just when he was halfway up the stairs to the second floor, a purple-green figure flew out from the entrance of the underground palace, as fast as blue frost and purple lightning.

The figure was a masked woman. She glanced at the door and slapped the monk with her palm.

The monk screamed and dodged to the side, but the palm wind was so powerful and fast that it still hit his body, and blood spurted out of his mouth.

The woman moved extremely quickly and chased the man in white to the second floor.

Seeing this, Zhao Ti narrowed his eyes slightly, walked forward and pressed the monk's acupoints, then turned and walked towards the entrance of the underground palace.

Just looking at the bright light flickering below the entrance, you can vaguely see a lot of corpses lying around.

Zhou Tong stepped forward and said, "Sir, I'll go in first!" Then he jumped down.

Zhao Ti then went in and saw that this place was more spacious than the one above, but it seemed as if it had been through a fierce fight. Everything was broken into pieces. The Buddha statues, porcelain, tables and chairs were all smashed to pieces. There were corpses everywhere, including monks and some secular people, dozens of them in total.

He walked a few steps and saw the Buddha statue in the innermost part. This was the only intact part here. The Buddha statue was ten feet tall, with a kind face. What he wore was different from other Buddha statues. The lines on his robe were engraved with the color of flames. Behind him was a huge circular Buddha light. The Buddha light was also very different from that of ordinary Buddha statues. It did not radiate straight around, but radiated outwards in two waves.

Zhao Ti raised his eyebrows. Two sects and three times, Mani Guang Buddha, the Great Ming Zun! This is the Great Ming Zun worshipped by the Ming Cult!
He said in a deep voice: "Guangzu, go outside to interrogate the monk."

After saying that, he flew out of the underground palace and went straight to the second floor of Leifeng Pagoda. When he arrived there, he saw that half of the eight small windows were smashed to pieces, and a purple-green figure was flying upwards.

He came to the window. It was raining heavily outside, with thunder and lightning in the sky. The man in white ran along the eaves of the tower to the fifth floor, and the woman in purple and green clothes chased after him.

Then the man in white rushed into the sixth floor of the tower, and the woman in purple followed him in. A few moments later, the man rushed out from the small window on the seventh floor, and the woman followed closely like lightning.

Seeing that the situation was not good, the man flew out of the eighth floor of the tower again. The woman slapped him from behind, and the tower stone broke, brick chips flew everywhere, hitting the raindrops and making a harsh sound.
