Huayu Chunqiu, starting from being adopted by a fairy mother

Chapter 399 Divine Chapter 2: The Contract of the Year

Chapter 399 Myth 2: The Thousand-Year Pact

The master bedroom has a large bathroom with a bathtub.

Two women, one emotionally agitated, the other composed. They'll have a good chat tonight; it won't be short.

Liu Jing didn't want to get involved in women's affairs, especially since it involved other people's marriages.

Trying to reconcile? Reconciliation usually doesn't lead to happiness, and you'll likely face complaints from your best friend.

Should I advise them to separate? If they do separate, they'll still feel attached to the past and then face complaints.

Getting too involved will only make you disliked by everyone; why bother?

Liu Jing took a bath, humming a little tune as he soaked, feeling incredibly relaxed.

The effects of the alcohol had mostly worn off, and he was starting to miss his older brother.

This afternoon, Liu Shishi and Yang Mi had a fight, but when he left, they were back to normal. It's his responsibility to mediate such a fight, even if it's just a matter of personal opinion. If you've taken advantage of someone's feelings, you have to take responsibility for them.

"Yuanyuan, bring me your phone." Liu Jing was a little worried and was about to call Yang Mi.

I called out several times, but there was no response.

Just as Liu Jing was about to go get it himself, Jia Jingwen ran over and handed the phone to Liu Jing, saying, "Hey! You little thief, you know how to enjoy yourself."

"Tomboy, where's Yuanyuan?" Liu Jing asked nervously. This woman had big eyes, but her gaze was ominous. He accidentally blurted out her private nickname.

Jia Jingwen didn't seem to care, raising her eyebrows. "Yuanyuan is taking a bath in that room. Should I call her over so you can take a bath together?"

"I need to make a phone call. Please close the door, thank you."

Liu Jing's aloof attitude annoyed Jia Jingwen. "You weren't like this back then," she thought, "you were so clingy to me. The burning passion in your eyes back then—I pretended not to see it, but it wasn't absent."

Jia Jingwen pouted. The little thief has grown up and isn't as fun as before.

The call was made and Yang Mi answered immediately.

Ask about the injury first, then ask about the situation; that's the procedure.

After Yang Mi finished answering, she told Liu Jing some shocking news, "Hey! It's a good thing you left in time, you almost got trapped in the house this afternoon..."

It turned out that fifteen minutes after he left, Shi's mother showed up at the door without telling him. Everyone knew what her purpose was.

When Liu Shishi opened the door, she looked flustered, which made Shi Ma even more suspicious. She pushed her daughter aside and wandered around the several rooms.

Liu Shishi was filled with lingering fear. If her senior brother had seen her bullying Yang Mi, at most she would have lost face. But if her mother had found out, she would have been absolutely stricken.

Yang Mi made a few polite remarks and invited the aunt to stay for dinner. To her surprise, the aunt actually stayed.

"Shi's mom isn't as easy to deal with as my mom. In my family, my mom handles the small things, and my dad handles the big things. This is a big matter for me, and as long as my dad acquiesces, my mom won't say anything. Shi Shi's family situation is complicated. Her mom is quite domineering, and it seems her dad isn't too happy with you either." Yang Mi gloated, hoping that Shi Shi wouldn't be able to handle it, and that the two of you would break up, so that she would have one less competitor.

"Let's hang up." Liu Jing was exhausted, and his brother made no attempt to hide his desire to see him make a fool of himself.

"Wait, there's something else. Look, it's Xixi on the first day of the Lunar New Year, me on the second, and Yuanyuan on the third, right? Am I right? Xixi will definitely be in this order before she returns to Beijing. Want to make a bet with me?" Yang Mi quickly stopped her.

"No gambling, no interest." Liu Jing refused. Except for the singing on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, all his other gambling decisions were based on evidence. He would be a fool to gamble.

"If you win, I'll give you the lead role for free. If I win, I'll take you to act in movies." Yang Mi's calculations were shrewd; win or lose, she would win.

"Okay." Liu Jing readily agreed. Playing a cameo role was no big deal; he'd just consider it a reward for his brother who had been bullied today.

His path to victory is simple: no interference, no intervention, and just watch the outcome – that's what makes it fun.

"Hehe, a moment of bliss on the night of passion is worth a thousand pieces of gold. Goodbye."

Yang Mi let out a mischievous laugh and hung up the phone.

"Looks like we need to hurry, or things will get even more difficult for Shishi," Liu Jing muttered.

He learned from Yang Mi, Bai Bing, and Gao Yuanyuan how to handle this matter.

Bai Bing controls Yanhui Entertainment, which manages over a dozen artists, including male artists such as Duan Yihong, Zhu Yawen, Luo Jin, Chen Sicheng, Zhang Yi, and Zhu Yilong, and female artists such as Gao Yuanyuan, Li Xiaoran, Zeng Li, Yan Danchen, Chen Zihan, Tong Liya, Tang Yan, Zhou Yang, Shen Jianni, Zhang Tianai, and Reyizha, among others.

With the upcoming broadcast of "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber" and the preparation of "The Message", Yuan Shanshan, Yang Rong, and Song Yi have been signed.

Two years ago, during the casting for "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber," Yuan Shanshan won first place in the Zhou Zhiruo group. She should have played Zhou Zhiruo, but unfortunately, Liu Shishi was chosen instead.

To make amends, Gao Yuanyuan gave the role of the woman in yellow to Yuan Shanshan and promised to sign her as an agent. Yuan Shanshan was overjoyed, even more satisfied than if she had just gotten a role.

Yuan Shanshan is a senior in college and will graduate soon. She was signed by Bai Bing to Yan Huai.

Yang Rong plays Ding Minjun. Gao Yuanyuan and Bai Bing both felt that she had good potential and excellent acting skills, so they signed her as well.

With Liu Jing directing and Gao Yuanyuan producing, Bai Bing finds it easy to sign people; she's very selective in her signings.

He's successful in his career, financially independent, lives in a villa, drives a luxury car—things that others can't achieve even after a lifetime of hard work. His daughter graduated and he already has it all.

Bai Bing's family doesn't care about her love life at all, and often reminds her not to mess around, saying that her achievements are hard-won.

After graduating, Yang Mi planned to set up her own studio. Last night, while drinking at the Yang family's house, Liu Jing went to the restroom, and Yang's uncle started muttering. He was very resentful about his niece's ambiguous relationship with Liu Jing.

Old Yang, his eyes glazed with drunkenness, put his arm around his brother's shoulder. "Brother, you only see them like this now. You don't know what they've been through. You have no idea how Rong Xinda coerced and bribed me last year. I've seen through the entertainment industry. With Liu Jing around, I feel very safe. I'd rather be taken advantage of by Liu Jing alone than by many others. I can't protect her, so she found someone capable. What can I say?"

Liu Jing heard it clearly and could only sigh that parents who love their children plan far ahead for them, though they may express it in different ways.

Yang Mi has her own career, but Shu Chang has already established her own studio and is now planning to pursue the I Ching.

Needless to say, Jing Tian's starting point is the end point for many artists.

Pang Bing became a shareholder of Tangde, and Gao Yuanyuan was immediately promoted to vice president of Chunqiu. Among so many senior employees, only Liu Shishi and Tang Yan were still unsettled.

Sugar Man is preparing to establish an equity incentive and employee stock ownership plan, and Liu Jing wants to take the opportunity to get some shares for Liu Shishi.

The sugar figurine was reserved by Liu Jing for Liu Shishi. When the time is right, he will also hand over the shares he holds to Little Lion.

Liu Jing had no other choice, because it was absolutely impossible for Liu Shishi to give up on Qianqian. But he was also unwilling to give up on Liu Shishi.

"I'll give you a career, I'll give you status, I'll give you wealth, I'll give you children"—this is Liu Jing's strategy, and also a calculated move.

Persuading people with reason, force, virtue, or talent is not as effective as winning their hearts and minds.

When a person has a career and a foothold in society, they will have courage when facing the world and more confidence when facing their family.

"What are you thinking about? You're not thinking about Jingwen, are you?" Gao Yuanyuan pushed open the door, somewhat surprised, to find the man sitting on the sofa in a daze.

It's rare to see someone not reading, not writing, and not using their phone.

"I'm not sick." You underestimate me. I'm not Cao Cao; I have no interest in other men's wives.

“She’s not sick either.” Gao Yuanyuan opened the wardrobe and rummaged through her clothes.

"She's not sick, you're the one who's sick," Liu Jing said irritably.

"She's taking a shower, I'm going to find her some clothes. She left home without a suitcase, that's pretty sad," Gao Yuanyuan sighed.

"You're going to the US tomorrow, why is she flying here to see you today? This isn't how you visit relatives and friends during the New Year," Liu Jing asked curiously.

“Jingwen and her husband had a fight, and this time it was pretty serious. Her husband and mother-in-law went to the United States and took her daughter with them. They won’t let her see her daughter or contact her. Jingwen came to the United States with me because she wants to see her daughter,” Gao Yuanyuan explained.

"Heh, it's obvious they've conspired together and don't want her anymore." Liu Jing saw through it immediately; this was a common tactic, and it worked very well.

“Jingwen doesn’t want a divorce. For the sake of the child, she wants to fight for it. Her in-laws look down on her, her husband doesn’t like her, and her own family can’t support her. They can’t live together anymore, and Jingwen understands that. But because of the child, she can’t bring herself to be cruel.” Gao Yuanyuan sighed. Her best friend was just too love-struck. She completely sacrificed her career for her family. Now that things have come to this, she realizes the importance of her career, but it’s too late.

After sighing, she sighed again, realizing she was just as love-struck. Luckily, she'd met the right person; otherwise, she'd probably be in the same boat as her best friend. Liu Jing also sighed, thinking back to over a decade ago. Teacher An and Sister Li were also getting a divorce; if it weren't for Qianqian, they probably would have broken up already.

Even if they have children, they just make do.

The conflict between the two involves not only them, but also their children and elderly relatives.

Forced relationships are never sweet; they either end in silence, with the couple becoming complete strangers, or conflicts resurface, gradually leading to irreconcilable differences and even armed conflict.

The resolution of family conflicts is never about love, but about career.

Teacher An worked steadily and surely, and her career gradually rose.

Sister Li ventured into investing, and her wallet gradually grew fuller.

The conflict was resolved as if it had never happened.

Unequal relationships and marriages are prone to problems. Problems are even more likely to arise if one person is unwilling to be subservient to the other.

The ancient Chinese emphasis on marrying someone of equal social standing was not without reason.

"If you need my help, just let me know."

"Yes, of course I'll ask my man for help with things I can't handle. But it should be easy to resolve; money can solve everything. We just talked about it, and if it really comes to divorce, Jingwen wants custody of the children..."

“It’s better for the child to stay with the father. Jingwen is in the entertainment industry, and she will definitely make a comeback to earn money after the divorce. It might not be a good thing for the child to stay with her,” Liu Jing shook his head.

He thought back to the past, when his grandmother, aunt, and sister Li discussed divorce, and he suggested that Qianqian stay with Teacher An.

“That makes sense, but she’s a piece of her own flesh and blood. Besides, Jingwen is also worried that her husband’s new wife will be bad for the child,” Gao Yuanyuan explained.

"That makes sense, but judging from her in-laws' behavior, they still value the child very much."

“Yuanyuan, Yuanyuan…”

As the two were analyzing the situation, Alyssa Chia shouted from the bathroom.

"Coming!" Gao Yuanyuan responded loudly, then whispered to Liu Jing, "Do you want to go check it out? I'll cover for you."

"boring."

"Let me tell you, she's got a great figure after giving birth. She's not very tall, but she's plump and curvaceous, and it'll be really comfortable to play with her. Do you want to try it out? I can get her some drinks and let you do whatever you want with her," Da Meiyuan teased.

"You've had quite a bit to drink today, hurry up and come back, don't dawdle, I still have something to ask you to do." Liu Jing waved his hand, wondering if Bai Bing learned this from you or you learned it from Bai Bing, now you both know this trick.

"I'll come over after I've put her to sleep, so you can deal with me properly. Hmm, it's ten o'clock now, I'll be back before eleven. If I'm even a minute late, you can kill me..." Gao Yuanyuan grabbed her clothes and hurriedly left, making sure to close the door behind her.

"She's not a child, what are you trying to coax?" Liu Jing muttered.

I grabbed the documents from the bedside table, opened them, and lo and behold, it was the booklet for "Myth 2".

Filming for this movie will begin at the end of the year, with Stanley Tong returning as director. As for the leads, Jackie Chan and Kim Hee-sun will naturally be returning. The producer is Zhang Min, so it's not surprising that Gao Yuanyuan has this script on her bedside table; she's actually the one doing the work.

Liu Jing didn't want to work during the holiday, not even to read a script. He lay in bed scrolling through his phone for a while, then decided to just read the script anyway.

In 2010, renowned archaeologist Jack, along with his student Lin Xiaoman, excavated an ancient tomb in the Gobi Desert near Dunhuang. They discovered a tombstone inscribed with "Jade Seal of Shu, to Suppress the Soul of Qin," as well as a mysterious mural.

Jack, of course, will continue to be played by Jackie Chan; he is the film's biggest selling point. The student, Lin Xiaoman, is a young girl, and Liu Jing wanted the role, so he's having a headache about what to do with her.

The mural depicts a strange scene, with a black-robed figure holding a jade scepter causing a temporal distortion. Jack is very curious about the mural, and when he touches it, a phantom of Princess Yu Shu suddenly flashes in his mind, simultaneously awakening Meng Yi's hazy memories.

For the role of Princess Yushu, Kim Hee-sun is being considered; she's believed to be a box office draw.

Zhao Jing, a young official in the Cultural Relics Bureau, is a descendant of the nobility of the ancient Zhao state. This character, played by Liu Jing, is a major villain. He secretly covets the jade tablet and sends people to steal the data from the mural. During the fight, Jack's treasured tiger tally is damaged.

Meanwhile, in the secret realm of Qin Shi Huang's Mausoleum in 209 BC, Princess Yu Shu awakens and discovers unusual activity within the jade scepter, with Jack's figure reflected in a crack in the ground. Meng Yi's remnant soul, attached to the sword, warns that the jade scepter will trigger a spacetime storm, and that they must find the "Guardian of the Contract," Jack, to close the spacetime rift.

Princess Yu Shu was sucked into a rift, traveled through time and space, and fell into the Dunhuang desert in 2010, where she reunited with Jack, who was searching for data on the murals, and their memories were restored.

Zhao Jing and his men surrounded the guesthouse, using Lin Xiaoman to blackmail Jack. Although they were driven back, they managed to steal half of the jade scepter.

On the day of the solar eclipse, Zhao Jing used half a jade scepter at the Sanxingdui ruins to activate the Bronze Divine Tree, attempting to open a permanent time-space portal. The phantom of the Qin army appeared on the other side of the portal.

Jack and Princess Yu Shu arrived with the other half of the Jade Pendant. Lin Xiaoman calculated that the two of them needed to inject their bloodline power at the moment of maximum eclipse to close the passage.

So, a fight ensued between Jack and Zhao Jing around the passageway and the Sanxingdui Museum. With so many props, the fight scene was naturally very Jackie Chan-esque.

At the critical moment, Jack and Princess Yu Shu combined the two jade tablets, closing the passage. Zhao Jing was then consumed by the backlash and perished. As the time-space passage closed, Princess Yu Shu's figure gradually became transparent, leaving behind some flower petals, before disappearing into modern society.

A year later, Jack held an exhibition of artifacts. In the dim light of the petals, Princess Yu Shu's phantom gazed at the tiger tally.

This was the first draft of "Myth 2: The Thousand-Year Pact," and Liu Jing participated in the scriptwriting.

The story is just that—a story that doesn't stand up to scrutiny. The plot is relatively simple, there are few characters, and it mainly consists of action scenes.

When audiences watch Jackie Chan's movies, the plot is often secondary; whether the action is exciting or not is the primary concern.

The script is still being polished, and film preparation has not yet begun.

Jackie Chan never stops filming; as soon as one film wraps up, another one begins.

He returned to the Chinese film industry in 2003, and his first film was "New Police Story". He played a righteous policeman, while Liu Jing played a villainous rich kid.

Since then, it's been almost non-stop. After "New Police Story" came "The Myth," followed by "Rob-B-Hood" and "The Forbidden Kingdom."

Having just finished filming "Shinjuku Incident" last year, they're about to start filming "Little Big Soldier." After that, "The Karate Kid" will begin filming in July, followed by "The Myth 2."

Jackie Chan makes one movie after another, truly a workaholic.

Liu Jing often regrets that if only Cheng Long could help him gain recognition in the entertainment industry.

Of the twelve bonds, only Fatty Ice can compare. No, Fatty Ice is even more of a workaholic than him.

Shu Chang is busy all year round, but she doesn't earn as much entertainment value from each of her dramas as Fan Bingbing. All the dramas she does in a year don't even equal what Xixi earns from just one drama a year.

Jackie Chan is currently preparing for "Little Big Soldier," which will begin filming in February. After filming wraps, preparations will begin for "The Myth 2."

Jackie Chan has a particular style when making films: he likes to collaborate with well-known young actors, and also bring along two of his own artists. "Little Big Soldier" featured Wang Lihong, Liu Chengjun, and Wang Baoqiang, as well as Lin Peng, who had just signed with the company last year.

In "The Myth 2," Liu Jing got a role as Jack's female student, Lin Xiaoman. He was torn between Tang Yan, Jing Tian, and Tong Liya.

"You said you'd be back at eleven, and it's already 11:11. I could kill you eleven times over." Liu Jing glanced at the alarm clock by the bedside. He was so engrossed in reading the script that he hadn't noticed more than an hour had passed.

He put on his slippers, pushed open the door, and went out. The bathroom light was on, the hallway light was on, and the whole house was quiet.

The guest room door wasn't closed properly, and the room was brightly lit.

"What a waste of electricity," Liu Jing muttered under his breath, pressing his ear against the door to listen carefully. He heard neither crying nor even talking.

He had keen hearing and could hear their soft breathing. He gently pushed open the door, and lo and behold, the two were embracing—were they asleep?
Gao Yuanyuan drank some wine and slept very soundly.

Jia Jingwen was preoccupied with her thoughts and tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

"What do you want to do?" Jia Jingwen asked nervously, clutching the blanket.

"Do not want to."

Liu Jing was very straightforward: "My Yuanyuan is the most important person tonight. Don't even think about seducing me. I'm the second Liu Xiaohui."

Jia Jingwen was stunned for a moment, then quickly realized what she meant. She spat lightly, "No wonder Yuanyuan is so filthy, she has a good mentor."
