Chapter 6: Visiting
Liu Hua, who was relaxed as he had no mission, strolled to the security department. The head of the security department was a comrade-in-arms with his father. They had been in the same trench on the 38th parallel.

When Liu Hua came to work at the steel rolling mill, his father greeted this comrade-in-arms.

"Old Deng, my son is going to work in your factory. You have to take good care of him. He is the apple of our old man's eye and has a higher status in the family than me."

Section Chief Deng was not polite: "You are the son of an old comrade, and you are my immediate superior, so I must take care of you. But since you have spoken, you can't just talk nonsense. What are you talking about?"

Two pieces of silver coins. Liu Hua's father paid two pieces of silver coins in exchange for Lao Deng's promise that he would never let our nephew suffer any grievances.

Whenever Liu Hua met Uncle Deng in and out, he would greet him politely. Uncle Deng would often invite Liu Hua to their training ground to play. He couldn't guarantee anything else, but when he was in a bad mood, there was no problem in just shooting a few shots. After all, Uncle Deng was not only in charge of the security department, but also the boss of the militia battalion.

"You haven't shown up here once in half a year." Uncle Deng said jokingly, "What's wrong? You must be feeling wronged and want to ask your uncle Deng to back you up."

"How could that be possible? All the leaders in this factory, big and small, know that I am your nephew. Who dares to let me do this?"

Uncle Deng said cheerfully, "This kid is a talker, better than your dad. How come he has time to come to our security department today?"

"I have been drawing for a month. My brain is like paste and I feel groggy all day long." Liu Hua explained with a smile: "Didn't you say I could come over to your place to draw some pictures? I want to hear some noise to cheer myself up."

Uncle Deng nodded and said, "It's not a big deal. The security department is doing live-fire target practice. If you can't reach it with a submachine gun, you can just hit it with a pistol a few times."

Uncle Deng locked his desk and the office, then took Liu Hua to the shooting range. These days, the security department's awareness of confidentiality is still quite strong.

"Take a look, pick one you like, I'll get someone to watch you, you can listen to whatever you want today."

There were quite a few weapons on the table, including our domestically-made black five-star rifle, a twenty-shot rifle, and a Continental oar.

Liu Hua picked up the Ma brand oar: "This is it. My grandfather said that he would give me one when I officially join the company."

"The old man is very generous." Uncle Deng waved to the side and said, "Xiao Yu, this is our factory technician, the son of my old comrade. Please help him get 100 rounds and make sure he doesn't shoot randomly."

"Too much."

Uncle Deng shook his head and said, "Didn't you tell me that your grandfather gave you a Continental pistol? Take this opportunity today to get familiar with this gun and its temperament, so that you won't be unable to use it if your grandfather really gives it to you."

The little Su Shi assigned by Uncle Deng was really responsible. After receiving the ammunition, he did not rush to let Liu Hua fire the gun, but patiently taught him how to load bullets, disassemble and maintain them.

Liu Hua had a strong mental strength and was a quick learner, so he soon gained Xiao Yu's approval. He then loaded the bullet and shot at the target.

Perhaps because of the time travel, his mental strength has become stronger and his physical fitness has also improved to a certain extent. When he holds the gun and fires with both hands, the recoil is surprisingly negligible.

Xiao Yu couldn't help but praise him: "You should be a soldier, you hold the gun steadily and shoot steadily, you could only hit five or six rings at the beginning, but now you can hit ten rings. If you practice hard, you will be a sharpshooter."

"My grandfather wouldn't allow it. We already have enough soldiers in our family. He said he urgently needs someone who can learn literature." Liu Hua explained with a smile: "Besides, I can make such progress because of your good teaching, Brother Yu."

After all, he was not a professional, and even though he had excellent physical fitness, his hands were a little numb after firing five magazines of bullets. "Let's stop here today. My hands are a little numb. I'm afraid I won't be able to control the gun when the time comes."

Xiaoyu put the gun away, but handed him the bullets: "These have already been shipped out of the warehouse, just keep them."

"It's useless even if I ask for it."

"You'll have a gun soon, won't you?" Xiao Yu said with a smile, "Store more ammunition. If you want to go to the mountains to play, hunt or something, you might be able to get some meat."

"Does it fit?"

"If you don't tell me, if I don't tell you, who will know?"

Since it was an unspoken rule, Liu Hua didn't say much and put all the extra ammunition into his pocket. This thing was a man's romance and no one would complain about having too much.

After leaving the shooting range and staggering back to the technical department, I saw two trucks driving hurriedly towards the gate, with quite a few people in the truck beds.

There was something exciting to watch, so Liu Hua decided to go over. Unfortunately, the truck only stopped at the door for less than a minute before it drove away.

"What's going on with the Transportation Department?"

The guard sighed and said, "There was an accident. They say that if you turn the steering wheel, you won't change it even if you are given a county magistrate. But if something really happens, it's when your life hangs by a thread. Isn't it time to rush over to rescue?"

In this era, traffic regulations were not strict and car design was not very rigorous. In addition, the trucks used in the steel mills were either discarded by the army or left behind by capitalists with a long history, so accidents were very common.

"Go back quickly," the guard advised. "If you wander around the factory during working hours and are seen by your supervisor, you will be punished."

Just before getting off work, the rescue vehicle finally returned. The driver was sent to the hospital, and the accident vehicle was so terrible that it was unbearable to look at.

Liu Hua saw that there was still half an hour left before the end of the work day, and he could not hold back his temper, so he strolled over to the transportation department, where he saw that the driver's duty room was filled with smoke.

As soon as Liu Hua pushed the door open, he was almost sent away. If he stayed any longer, he might turn into smoked meat.

"Hey, you guys are preparing to use your magical powers." Liu Hua said with a smile, "How many cigarettes have you smoked? Do you want to ride on a cloud and leave?"

The head of the transportation department asked angrily, "Who are you? You don't work properly during working hours and you wander around without permission. I need to report this to your immediate superior."

"I'm Liu Hua from the Equipment Group of the Technical Department." Liu Hua took out a cigarette from his pocket and passed it around, then said with a smile, "I just finished the task at hand, and my leader asked me to give him half a day to change his mind."

After lighting the cigarette he gave her, the leader of the Transportation Department looked a little better: "You can't just go anywhere. Why are you coming to our place to laugh at us?"

"No." Liu Hua immediately explained: "I heard that you had an accident, so I came to see if there is anything I can do to help."
