Chapter 352 Totem Baxia .
Chapter 352 Totem Baxia (Blocked again, but I didn't write anything risqué).
On the vast sea, there was no sign of an island, nor any sign of a sirens attacking. The sky was clear and cloudless, and I lost my sense of direction. Only the spray from the waves cleaved by the bow of the ship stubbornly proved that the voyage continued.
Time on the ship was monotonous and dull; the only entertainment to pass the time each day was a few people sitting around playing cards. Although the ship was speeding along, the journey to their destination, Japan, was still long and arduous, and Mo Fan suffered greatly during this long voyage.
"Lanzi, have the Frost Thunder Eagle take me for a spin and see if there are any islands ahead. This is just too agonizing!" Mo Fan slumped on the deck, his face full of exhaustion and anxiety. On this vast ocean, he had long felt like each day was an eternity.
"The Frost Thunder Eagle is currently conquering the Summoning Dimension. Go find Zhao Manyan; he has the Wings of Wind," Lin Lan replied. Actually, Lin Lan had initially planned to lead everyone to Japan as quickly as possible, but apart from Jiang Shaoxu who spoke Japanese, the others in the team didn't understand the language. Going there rashly would likely lead to endless trouble.
"Alright, I'll go find Old Zhao now." Mo Fan reluctantly got up and walked towards Zhao Manyan.
……
Zhao Manyan unfurled his golden wind wings, carrying Mo Fan as they soared into the sky. The weather was perfect today; the sky was clear and cloudless, offering an excellent view of the distant sea. From above, the sea resembled a giant, slightly curved dome. The two climbed to their maximum height with all their might, yet still found no sign of land on the horizon.
"Fly higher, maybe we can see further," Mo Fan shouted, his voice torn apart by the howling wind.
Upon hearing this, Zhao Manyan vigorously flapped his wind wings and charged towards the higher heavens.
At this moment, the ship below had shrunk to a tiny white dot, as insignificant as a drop in the ocean. Mo Fan gazed intently into the distance, and finally, on the horizon, a winding black coastline appeared faintly.
"We're almost there! We can finally see land!" Mo Fan shouted excitedly.
Zhao Manyan's vision was not as good as Mo Fan's, so he could only listen to his description. He subconsciously looked down to check the ship's direction of travel, and was shocked to find a strange black area on the blue canvas-like sea.
He squinted, trying to see more clearly, but the distance was too great to discern anything. He quickly called out to Mo Fan, "Look! Why is there a black patch in the seawater below?"
Mo Fan looked in the direction he was pointing and was shocked to realize that it wasn't the seawater that had turned black, but rather a huge dark shadow beneath the white cruise ship, the two almost overlapping. At first, Mo Fan didn't pay much attention, but in an instant, he realized something was wrong. A chill ran from the soles of his feet to the top of his head, and he froze in mid-air.
This luxury yacht, over sixty meters long, is the length of six buses lined up side by side. Compared to it, it's like a tiny dot on a blank sheet of paper. One can only imagine how terrifying this behemoth lurking beneath the water truly is!
"Zhao Manyan! Quick! We need to get down there!" Mo Fan's voice trembled, his heart pounding wildly in his chest, almost bursting out of his throat. Having dealt with numerous monarch-level creatures, he already knew in his heart that this was an extremely terrifying being. Lin Lan couldn't possibly have brought the Kui Niu or the Totem Xuan Snake with her to the National Palace this time, so what exactly was this underwater creature?
Zhao Manyan dared not delay and, carrying Mo Fan, plummeted down, crashing heavily onto the deck. The enormous impact nearly cracked the deck.
Nan Jue frowned, about to reprimand the two for their recklessness, when she saw them rush straight to the railing and anxiously peer at the sea. This unusual commotion instantly attracted everyone's attention, and the deck quickly filled with people.
The seawater was crystal clear, and everyone strained to see into the depths, but the dark shadow remained hidden beneath the ship, as if it had sailed into an invisible black abyss. Cold sweat streamed down their necks; although the shadow released no aura, it felt like an invisible mountain, pressing down on them, making it hard to breathe. They knew in their hearts that with this monster's power, swallowing the cruise ship whole or creating towering waves to smash it to pieces would be an easy task.
While everyone was filled with terror, Lin Lan remained calm, as if the crisis before them was utterly insignificant. The dark figure was none other than the totem creature Baxia, Zhao Manyan's totem beast. Imagining Zhao Manyan riding Baxia in the future, a wooden fish in his left hand and prayer beads in his right, he would be a Bodhisattva Zhao, saving the world from suffering.
Only after Baxia disappeared did everyone's tense nerves gradually relax.
"Lin Lan, why aren't you scared at all?" Jiang Shaoxu asked curiously. She had been watching Lin Lan closely, and her calm and composed demeanor was truly puzzling.
Mo Fan thought to himself: Lin Lan can summon three supreme monarchs and also possesses the Blood Cube; being a monarch-level being is just routine for her.
"Because there's nothing to be afraid of." Lin Lan smiled faintly, her tone nonchalant.
"Why aren't you afraid?"
"I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid."
……
Shortly after, the ship entered the Japanese territorial waters. Because it had been registered in advance and its hull bore a Japanese name, it passed through security smoothly. Along the way, many fishing boats could be seen busily hauling fish, a scene of bustling activity. Only when everyone's feet finally touched the solid ground of the harbor did their hearts finally settle down.
"Does anyone among us speak Japanese?" Mo Fan suddenly asked, as this was a crucial question concerning their operations in Japan.
"I can," Jiang Shaoxu replied with a smile, her eyes crinkling with confidence.
They all speak international languages, but among the thirteen, only Jiang Shaoxu speaks Japanese.
……
Afterwards, the group arrived at Yanming Temple. This temple was serene and elegant, quite different in style from temples in China. Only after the group offered generous donations did the temple reluctantly agree to let them stay overnight.
On either side of the stone steps in front of the temple stand two enormous stone turtles, their imposing presence no less than that of the guardian stone lions of ordinary temples.
As everyone returned to their rooms to rest and enjoy their comfortable beds, Mo Fan leisurely sat on the shell of one of the stone turtles and asked Lin Lan, who was admiring the scenery, about spatial manipulation.
“The spatial magic system is arguably the most powerful magic system among dimensional magic systems. Its strength is linked to mental power. If you have the money, you can buy some spirit stones to enhance your mental power,” Lin Lan said.
"Is the Mind Stone... very expensive?" Mo Fan asked.
"One gram of Mind Stone can buy one portion of Spirit Seed."
"Fuck!!!"
Mo Fan suddenly felt that the road ahead was long and arduous, and he wondered when he would be able to cultivate his spatial abilities to the level Lin Lan was at.
"Benefactor! What are you doing? Get down at once!" A handsome young monk strode over, pointing at Mo Fan and sternly rebuking him, "How dare you sit on the back of the sacred tortoise! I've never seen such an unruly pilgrim!"
The monk was speaking Japanese. Although Mo Fan couldn't understand it, judging from the monk's exaggerated body language and excited expression, he was probably praising his handsome appearance.
The reason he doesn't mention Lin Lan is because he's a little more handsome than Lin Lan, which is perfectly normal.
"Can't you understand human language?" The young monk's tone became increasingly stern when he saw that Mo Fan remained unmoved.
Mo Fan then realized that the other party was angry, so he quickly jumped off the stone turtle and explained in universal language, "I'm just curious, why is your temple so deserted? The decoration style is quite stylish, the location is first-class, facing the sea, and even the WiFi signal is so strong."
"You're not Japanese?" The young monk seemed slightly surprised, then switched to fluent international language, indicating that he was an excellent student in foreign languages before becoming a monk.
“We come from China and came here specifically to experience Japanese culture,” Lin Lan said frankly.
"Experience culture? I think the man next to you is here to desecrate it!" the monk rebuked righteously. "His behavior of sitting on the sacred tortoise was extremely disrespectful. Such a person who disrespects the divine will surely be punished by the sea!"
Mo Fan squinted at the Japanese monk. The man looked to be about his age, in his early twenties, with handsome features, but his brows revealed a seriousness and rigidity that did not match his age. He seemed mature and composed, but in reality, he was arrogant and proud.
"It's just a stone carving at the entrance, why are you making such a fuss?" Mo Fan waved his hand dismissively. "You still haven't answered my question. When we came to ask for lodging, we overheard some unpleasant things said by the residents down the mountain. What's really going on with this temple?"
"Hmph! Those fools are just like you!" the young monk suddenly became agitated. "They ignore warnings, wantonly desecrate the sacred tortoise, and do not believe in the ocean's punishment. When disaster strikes, they shift the blame to the temple, accusing us of casting curses to harm people. They are utterly foolish."
The Sacred Tortoise, also known as Baxia, can reach the level of an emperor when paired with the totem Xuan Snake. For Lin Lan, it is another totem that can enhance his strength.
