Jinyi Spring

Chapter 1 Wedges

Chapter 1 Wedges
In the fifth year of Jianzhang in the Great Yan Dynasty, on July 15th, at the beginning of the yin hour.

The sky was slightly bright, and the full moon had not yet set.

At the foot of a mountain in the suburbs of Beijing, there are reeds all around, and the place is filled with rocks, sand, and small raised mounds of earth.

There was a plum tree on the southeast side, with dense branches and twigs spiraling upwards. On one of the branches, there were densely packed red flowers, swaying in the wind, almost seductively.

Following the sound of footsteps, two women and a big black dog came over, scaring several crows into flying into the sky.

One of them was wearing green and the other was wearing blue.

The baby they delivered tonight died in its mother's womb, so they brought the dead baby here to bury it.

The woman in blue was digging a hole with a shovel, while the woman in green was holding the dead child and looking around.

I haven't been here for a few months and there are a lot more small mounds of earth.

It must be because of the abnormal weather this year that so many people died.

Suddenly, the woman in green opened her eyes wide in shock.

"Oh my god, that red plum tree is blooming."

The lady in blue didn't look up. "It's only early autumn now, how can the red plum blossoms bloom? You must be dazzled."

"I'm not mistaken, it's true."

The woman in blue looked up and opened her mouth wide.

The two men and the dog walked over quickly.

The small red flowers on the branches are particularly eye-catching in the morning light, with crystal dewdrops hanging on the petals.

The lady in blue said, "It was hailstorm two days ago, the temperature dropped suddenly, and this plum tree bloomed early. It is said that when there are strange phenomena in the sky, there must be injustice. Could there really be some unjust case?"

Suddenly, two extremely faint cat meows were heard right next to them.

They lowered their heads and saw no cat, only a newly piled up small mound of earth covered with a thin layer of sand, which was not tightly packed, and a brown wooden box could be seen.

This is where the sound comes from.

"Wow~~Wow~~"

Two more sounds.

If you listen carefully, you can hear that it is not a cat's meowing, but a baby's crying.

The big dog suddenly became alert and lowered its head to sniff the small mound of earth.

The woman in blue frowned and said, "What a sin! Some family must have given birth to a baby girl and didn't want to raise her, so they buried her alive here."

The woman in green sighed and handed the dead child in her hand to the woman in blue. She squatted down and dug up the sand, revealing a rectangular wooden box.

When the lid of the box was opened, a baby was seen wrapped in a dark blue silk cloth. The baby showed a little bit of its face and mouth, and one of its arms was stretched out, with its fist clenched tightly.

The cloth wrapped around his body is silk, so he must be from a wealthy family.

Even if children born to wealthy families die, they are generally not buried here.

I came here late at night...

The woman in green picked up the baby and tore off the wrapping cloth. The baby was pale and bloody, and howled with his eyes closed. Not only did he have no tears, but his voice was hoarse...

It seems like he is making his last struggle.

The woman in green still felt pain in her heart after seeing the dying baby so many times.

She quickly took out a silver needle from her bosom and inserted it into the Huantiao point on her baby's nipple.

He sighed softly, "If you don't mention other things, at least this baby was wronged. Put the dead baby in the wooden box and bury it."

The woman in blue glanced at the baby and whispered, "Sister, one is a boy and the other is a girl. What if someone finds them?"

The lady in green said, "They have been buried here, who would come to look for them? Even if they did, they would just burn some incense and dig up the soil to take a closer look, right?"

The woman in blue sighed, "That's right. There are so many children thrown here, and their families don't even come to visit or burn incense. Amitabha."

The lady in green thought for a moment and said, "Let's change the wrapping cloth."

The two opened the wrapping cloth and exchanged it. A small green jade bead fell out of the little nurse's wrapping cloth. The jade was crystal clear and shone with a green glow.

The woman in blue asked, "Where do you put the beads?"

The lady in green said, "There are always some mean and secretive people in the big house. Well, it's the child's thing, so just take it with you."

After burying the dead child, the woman in green handed the baby in her arms to the woman in blue, lit three incense sticks in front of the new grave, recited the Sutra of Rebirth, and then buried the remaining incense and ashes.

She looked at the red plum again and said, "Pick off the blossoming branch and throw it into the reeds. If anyone knew that this plum tree bloomed in early autumn, the reed marsh would no longer be peaceful."

It was already the hour of Mao, the sun was rising, and the bright moon was still hanging on the top of the mountain.

The morning light shines, the sun and the moon shine together, which is a good sign.

The woman in green held the child tightly in her arms.

If you can survive, you will be called Chuchen...

They took the big dog along a secluded path, avoiding the early-rising villagers, and entered a small courtyard some distance away from the village.

Qingquan has started a new article. I have been resting for a long time this time. If I don’t write something, I really don’t want to write anymore. Laziness is also inertia. If I don’t move, I will continue to be lazy.

I hope you can join me in a brand new dream journey.
