Chapter 275 Two Women Clash (Please Subscribe)

As evening fell, Xu Ye finished her day's filming and dragged her slightly tired body home.

As soon as I entered the courtyard, I heard my sister-in-law Wang Huiyu and Zhu Lin chatting and laughing in the kitchen, mixed with the crisp sounds of pots and pans clattering together.

"What delicious food did you make today? I could smell the aroma from far away," Xu Ye asked with a smile as he walked into the kitchen.

Zhu Lin turned around, her cheeks slightly flushed from the steam from the stove, still holding a spatula in her hand. "I made braised pork and a few vegetable dishes. By the way, why are you so late today?"

Xu Ye was about to answer when he suddenly remembered that Qin Yun was coming over for dinner that evening, and he was momentarily speechless.

Before he could even speak, Qin Yun's distinctive voice, with its unique accent, came from outside the courtyard gate: "Xu Ye, I'm here!"

Zhu Lin looked towards the door in confusion, while Xu Ye quickly went out to greet her.

Qin Yun was wearing a modified cheongsam today, her blonde hair casually draped over her shoulders, and she wore delicate light makeup, making her look both elegant and playful.

"Why are you dressed like this?" Xu Ye asked in surprise.

"I picked this out specially, isn't it beautiful? I'm doing as the Romans do." Qin Yun smiled and twirled around, her skirt fluttering gently.

Zhu Lin came out of the kitchen, and the moment she saw Qin Yun, her smile froze on her face.

She subconsciously gripped the spatula in her hand, her gaze shifting back and forth between Qin Yun and Xu Ye.

Qin Yun also noticed Zhu Lin, and their eyes met in the air, as if sparks flew.

"And who is this?" Zhu Lin tried to keep her voice calm.

"Oh, this is Qin Yun, the daughter of my parents' friend, from Ukraine," Xu Ye quickly introduced. "Qin Yun, this is Zhu Lin, she's an actress now."

Qin Yun extended her hand generously and said in Chinese, "Hello, Zhu Lin, it's nice to meet you." Zhu Lin hesitated for a moment, then extended her hand and gently shook it, saying, "Hello."

The atmosphere at dinner was somewhat awkward. Julie noticed the unease and tried to smooth things over from time to time.

"And this is my cousin-in-law, Wang Huiyu." Xu Ye also introduced Wang Huiyu, who was standing at the door.

"Hello." Wang Huiyu looked Qin Yun up and down with curiosity.

She hadn't expected that a foreign girl could speak such fluent Chinese and have such a beautiful name.

"Hello, sister-in-law. You should know me, right?" Qin Yun said, winking at Wang Huiyu.

Should I know?

Wang Huiyu looked at Xu Ye with some confusion and doubt.

"Oh...that fiancée..." After saying that, Wang Huiyu quickly covered her mouth.

No, she really wanted to slap herself.

Why did you suddenly bring up the fiancée?

Is it all over now?
“However, Xu Ye has already broken off the engagement with my parents. After all, it was just a verbal agreement between us when we were children,” Qin Yun said with a smile.

"They're friends too, come and eat," Wang Huiyu said awkwardly.

However, she was puzzled as to why Xu Ye would agree to let Qin Yun come to their home.

What will Zhu Lin do now that she's here?
Zhu Lin didn't say anything, maintaining her elegant smile.

"The guests are here, Xu Ye, please greet them. My sister-in-law and I will finish preparing the last dish." She acted like the hostess.

As Xu Ye watched Zhu Lin and Wang Huiyu walk into the kitchen, a complex emotion welled up inside him.

He could sense that Zhu Lin was trying hard to maintain a calm exterior, but that deliberate smile couldn't hide the disappointment in her eyes.

Qin Yun, on the other hand, seemed completely at ease, as if she had no idea of the subtle atmosphere in the air. She was looking around the living room on her own, occasionally uttering a few words of praise for the decorations inside.

“Xu Ye, your home has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, much cozier than my home in Ukraine.” Qin Yun said, walking up to a family photo hanging on the wall and gently tracing the face of each person in the picture with her finger.

Xu Ye stepped forward and stood beside her, his gaze also falling on the family photo, his thoughts drifting away.

His life used to be simple and pure; he never imagined he would be troubled by these emotional entanglements.

A slight knocking sound came from the kitchen. Xu Ye instinctively wanted to go and see what was going on, but Qin Yun stopped him.

"Xu Ye, let me tell you, I went to so many stores today to pick out this cheongsam, just to give you a surprise." Qin Yun tilted her head, looking at him expectantly, her eyes sparkling brightly.

Xu Ye forced a smile. "Yes, it looks great. Thank you for your hard work."

His mind was elsewhere, however; he kept a close eye on the sounds coming from the kitchen.

Zhu Lin carried the last dish out of the kitchen. Her eyes quickly swept over Xu Ye and Qin Yun, who were standing very close together. She frowned slightly, then placed the dish steadily on the dining table.

"Everyone, please sit down. The dishes are all served." Her voice was clear and crisp, with a hint of unyielding authority.

Everyone took their seats, and Xu Ye, sitting between Zhu Lin and Qin Yun, immediately felt the pressure increase.

During the meal, Qin Yun kept telling stories about her interesting experiences in Ukraine, occasionally throwing in a few words of Chinese and deliberately using some inappropriate idioms, which made Wang Huiyu burst out laughing.

Zhu Lin smiled politely, but the smile didn't reach her eyes.

She quietly placed a piece of food on Xu Ye's plate and said softly, "Try my braised pork. I made it especially for you."

Just as Xu Ye was about to respond, Qin Yun, not to be outdone, picked up her chopsticks and placed a large piece of chicken on Xu Ye's plate. "Xu Ye, you should try this too. I just ate some, and it was delicious."

Wang Huiyu and Xu Ye exchanged a glance, both sensing the undercurrent between the two girls.

Wang Huiyu tried to break the slightly tense atmosphere and asked, "Qin Yun, how long do you plan to stay here?"

While eating her food elegantly, Qin Yun replied, "I'm not sure either, but I'm quite happy here, especially being with Xu Ye."

As she spoke, she looked at Xu Ye, her eyes filled with affection.

Zhu Lin's hand trembled slightly, and she almost dropped her chopsticks. She quickly steadied herself, picked up her wine glass, and took a sip of her beverage.

"Don't listen to her nonsense, she's here to study," Xu Ye quickly said.

"Hehe, I thought you didn't know." Qin Yun looked at Xu Ye with a happy expression.

Seeing this, Wang Huiyu quickly picked up her wine glass and smiled as she tried to smooth things over: "Come on, everyone, stop talking and try the dishes on this table. They are all made by Zhu Lin and taste absolutely amazing."

Everyone raised their glasses, and the atmosphere eased a little.

Xu Ye was in a state of great inner turmoil. He knew he had to find an opportunity to clarify things with Zhu Lin and Qin Yun, otherwise this awkward situation would become increasingly difficult to resolve.

He picked up a piece of the braised pork that Zhu Lin had made, and the familiar taste spread on his tongue, but at this moment he could not taste any pleasure.

At this moment, Qin Yun suddenly changed the subject and looked at Zhu Lin: "Sister Zhu Lin, I've heard that actors' lives are particularly exciting."

"You must have had many interesting filming experiences, tell us about them."

Zhu Lin shook her head and said slowly, "I don't have any experience. I just went to the audition with Xu Ye last week."

"I was lucky enough to get a role, and I even had a romantic storyline with Xu Ye."

She deliberately brought up the fact that Xu Ye was also acting.

"Xu Ye is acting?"

"Xu Ye, you're an actor too?" Qin Yun stared wide-eyed at Xu Ye.

She had absolutely no idea about this situation. In her mind, she cursed that so-called private investigator again.

Xu Ye was caught off guard by Zhu Lin's sudden revelation, his face turning red and white in turns.

He didn't expect Zhu Lin to bring up acting at this time, especially in such a subtly emotional way.

Faced with Qin Yun's gaze, which was full of surprise and inquiry, he was speechless for a moment and did not know how to answer.

Wang Huiyu noticed the increasingly tense atmosphere and quickly tried to smooth things over: "Oh dear, Xu Ye is just going to join in the fun and experience life. He's not really an actor. Hurry up and eat, the food is getting cold."

But Qin Yun clearly had no intention of letting the topic go easily. She put down her chopsticks and looked at Xu Ye with a serious expression.

"Xu Ye, why didn't you mention this to me? Acting is such an interesting thing, how could you keep it from me?"

Xu Ye sighed helplessly, knowing there was no way to avoid it.

He could only explain, "We only met briefly this morning, how could I have time to talk to you so much?"

Looking at Qin Yun's appearance, Zhu Lin felt a complex mix of emotions.

She felt both jealous of Qin Yun and Xu Ye's close relationship and that she seemed to have gained a slight advantage in this emotional game.

Without making a sound, she picked up another piece of braised pork and put it in her mouth, chewing it carefully as if she wanted to savor every flavor.

At this moment, Qin Yun's eyes suddenly lit up, as if she had thought of a brilliant idea.

"Xu Ye, why don't I go into acting too? Look at my appearance, I'd be perfect for a role with an exotic flair."

"Besides, my Chinese is pretty good now, so maybe I can even play the female lead."

As she spoke, she gestured excitedly, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Xu Ye and Wang Huiyu exchanged a glance, both seeing a hint of helplessness in each other's eyes.

Just as Xu Ye was about to speak up to dissuade her, Zhu Lin preemptively said, "Acting is not an easy thing. There is a lot to learn, and the competition is extremely fierce."

"Qin Yun, if you're really interested, you'd better be prepared to endure hardship."

"Moreover, we also need suitable roles. For the time being, we don't really need foreign women in our country."

Her tone carried a subtle hint of sarcasm, as if implying that Qin Yun had only acted impulsively.

Qin Yun, however, failed to grasp the deeper meaning in Zhu Lin's words and patted her chest to assure her, "I'm not afraid of hardship! As long as I can film with Xu Ye, I can endure any hardship."

"Besides, I'm so smart, I'll definitely learn things very quickly."

She became more and more excited as she spoke, her hands clasped tightly together, as if she could already see herself shining brightly on the screen.

Xu Ye was extremely troubled. Qin Yun's impulsive nature meant that once she made up her mind about something, it would be very difficult to change it.

However, allowing Qin Yun to enter the entertainment industry would bring many unknown variables, and he really couldn't imagine what kind of chaotic situation it would be.

He tried to get help from Zhu Lin, pleading with her through his eyes, hoping she could help persuade Qin Yun.

Zhu Lin pretended not to see Xu Ye's gaze and said to herself, "Since Qin Yun, you are so determined, you can go and find out more about it first, and then go and try out for the role."

"If you need, I can help you find out when there are auditions."

Qin Yun immediately smiled and said, "Then thank you, Sister Zhu Lin. I'll be waiting to go to the audition."

Wang Huiyu stood by anxiously, unsure how to defuse the tense atmosphere.

The food on the table gradually lost its heat, but everyone's mind was no longer on eating.

This "war," triggered by emotional entanglements and unexpected revelations, seems to have only just begun.

No one knows when or where the next clash will break out, or in what unpredictable direction it will take.

After dinner, Qin Yun suggested that she take a tour of Xu Ye's house.

Then, they pulled Xu Ye away.

The request wasn't unreasonable, and Xu Ye couldn't refuse it.

As Zhu Lin watched the two figures disappear into the distance, she felt a tightness in her chest, as if a large rock was blocking her throat.

She forced herself to clear the table, her movements much heavier than usual, the plates and dishes clattering together with a harsh sound.

Wang Huiyu saw this and was filled with worry, but she didn't know how to comfort her, so she could only silently help out from the side.

Qin Yun, holding Xu Ye's hand, flitted between the rooms like a cheerful little bird.

"Wow, Xu Ye, your bedroom is so cozy, and this bed looks so comfortable."

She marveled at the sight and curiously touched this and that.

Xu Ye looked helpless, his eyes glancing frequently towards the living room, his mind preoccupied with Zhu Lin.

As Qin Yun passed Zhu Lin's room, she stopped in her tracks, a strange glint in her eyes.

Then, she joked with a smile, "This must be Sister Zhu Lin's room. It's full of girlish charm. Can I go in and take a look?"

Before Xu Ye could answer, she had already pushed open the door.

In the living room, Zhu Lin placed the bowls and chopsticks heavily on the sink and turned on the tap.

The rushing water seemed to try to mask the turmoil in her heart.

Wang Huiyu gently touched her arm and whispered, "Lin'er, don't be too upset. Matters of the heart can't be rushed."

Zhu Lin bit her lip, her eyes reddening, "Sister-in-law, I know, but seeing them like that, I..."

Before she could finish speaking, her voice was already choked with emotion.

Qin Yun looked around Zhu Lin's room and picked up a book from the table.

"Don't touch other people's things. Sister Lin and the others rent here. Let's go out." With that, Xu Ye took Qin Yun's hand and walked out.

Qin Yun smiled happily, looking as if her scheme had succeeded.

After finishing cleaning up in the kitchen, Zhu Lin was about to go to the yard for some fresh air.

Just as he reached the door, he heard Qin Yun's voice coming from her room: "Xu Ye, do you like Sister Zhu Lin?"

She stiffened, instinctively held her breath, and hid in the corner to listen quietly.

Xu Ye was silent for a moment before slowly speaking: "Qin Yun, don't make wild guesses."

Qin Yun persisted, "Then why are you so concerned about her? I bet you have feelings for her."

Zhu Lin's heart leaped into her throat, her hands gripping the hem of her clothes tightly until her knuckles turned white.

Say it! Say it!

Her heart was screaming.

Once she spoke out, Qin Yun would have no chance.
