I am not Yuan Shu

Chapter 31 It turns out that there are really good people in this world?

Chapter 31 It turns out that there are really good people in this world?
This is true for donors, and even more so for those who are personally involved in this matter.

Due to the lack of manpower, the original 200-plus people were not enough, so Yuan Shu assigned tasks to all of the original 500 members of the organization, and obtained support from Ma Rong, obtaining a batch of carts and a batch of cattle and horses for transportation.

Among these more than 500 people, there are many who grew up in a life of luxury, such as Zhao Jun, Deng Ying, Luo Yi, Zhang Jie and others among the Thirteen Guardians. They were each born into a wealthy family in a county or state, and had officials with a salary of two thousand stones in their family, so they had no worries about survival.

But this did not prevent them from running around, making great efforts, being full of energy and making outstanding contributions in this operation.

Among the students there were many who came from wealthy families and had no shortage of food and clothing. In this movement, they were no more lazy or backward than those who came from humble and poor backgrounds.

Of course, the situation is definitely not all improving.

At the beginning, there were people in the team who looked at these farmers with an attitude of untouchables, and some even went to provide support to those poor farmers with the attitude of “Come and eat!”

They feel that they are saviors and heroes, and these untouchables should kneel down to express their gratitude to them and remember their kindness.

However, when they saw with their own eyes the difficult lives of the farmers and the tears they shed in shock, their attitudes gradually softened.

After each round of action, Yuan Shu would call everyone to a meeting to share their experiences and opinions on the poor farmers.

From this, he could feel the changes in the appearance of these young masters who had previously been high and mighty and had never done any housework.

He encouraged and appreciated this transformation, but at the same time, he also paid close attention to those who had not changed or were even getting worse.

For example, some sons of wealthy families and local tyrants always do this with the mentality of giving alms, and even complain about the behavior of some farmers who do not give back their gratitude, complain about the dirty and messy living environment of some farmers, compare them with pigs and dogs, and ridicule them.

They even openly doubted what the point of saving them was.

It would be better to feed the grain to cows and horses. After all, cows and horses are much more useful!
For such people, Yuan Shu would take note of them, then quickly marginalize them until they were completely excluded from his organization.

This farmer-aiding campaign is also a two-way selection process for Yuan Shu and the participants. The more supporters give, the more they gain insights, and their mentality changes in a positive way, and they become like-minded people that Yuan Shu can trust and rely on.

There are also some people who are stubborn, have bad character, and are hopeless. In that case, just give up on each other and part ways amicably.

It’s better not to deal with each other in the future, otherwise, Yuan Shu doesn’t mind using special means to purify the world.

As for those who have truly made changes, learned something from it and accepted the teachings of conscience, they are the real fellows.

For example, Zhao Jun.

Born into a wealthy family and living a life of luxury since childhood, the lowest class of people he had come into contact with in the past years were his own slaves.

However, his own servants also had regular wages and were protected by the family, so their lives were acceptable. Otherwise, it would bring shame to the family, so their food, clothing and other expenses were not too bad. Zhao Jun even felt that the people with the worst living standards were his servants.

As the saying goes, there are great scholars among whom one talks and laughs, and there is no unlearned commoner among whom one associates. There are also limits to the interactions between people. With Zhao Jun's background and trajectory of action, he cannot see the real bottom layer at all. What separates him from the bottom layer is not an ordinary watershed, but the Milky Way.

Even on his way to Guanzhong to study, he was protected by a group of armed servants. It was very safe, just like traveling.

Once you come, you become a disciple. Once you come, you live in the Ma mansion. Once you come, you are isolated from the outside world.

He has always lived in his own world, unable to get out and no one else can get in.

It was not until he followed Yuan Shu deep into the wilderness and came into real contact with people at the bottom of Han Empire society for the first time that everything he saw shattered the inherent ideas he had formed since he was a child and had a huge impact on him.

Then, under the organization of Yuan Shu, we carried out farmer-aiding activities, getting close to these truly grassroots people, observing their appearance and living habits up close, and watching them struggle hard to survive.

He completely didn't understand these people's survival logic, their behavioral norms, and didn't understand why they had so many living habits that were different from his.

Why is there always fear?

Why do you always run away?

Is he some unforgivable evil person? Or does he look weird and like a demon?

No, not really.

Since he was a child, relatives and friends have always praised him for his handsome looks, and the "Jun" in his name comes from this.

There were so many things he didn't understand.

There have been too many times when I gained enlightenment after not understanding something and then was cleared up by others.

In every meeting on accountability and charity organized by Yuan Shu, he was the activist who spoke the most and asked the most questions.

He felt that there were so many things he needed to change and learn, and that his understanding of the world was clearly very different from the real situation.

As time went by, his perception became deeper and deeper, and his understanding of the real society became deeper and deeper. As his cognition changed, he felt that his past cognition was ridiculous every time he thought of it. Just like he used to think that no matter how bad his life was, he would be like his own slaves. He thought that giving things to farmers would definitely be appreciated and welcomed, but in the end, the first thing he got was fear.

These people are not only poor, but also oppressed by corrupt officials. They don't believe in any good things in the world, and don't believe in any kindness. Everything they do is just to survive.

Having never experienced such kindness before, they were completely unwilling to believe it at first. When they saw people from the farmers' aid organization, most of their actions were to run away or kneel down and beg for mercy. They would never accept their gifts no matter what, thinking that if they took these gifts, they would lose their lives.

Faced with such a group of people, how do we help them?
I want to help but can't, people just don't believe me.

When Zhao Jun first started to help farmers, like many people, he was completely confused and had no idea where to start. The action was deadlocked from the beginning.

So initially, all they could do was put the supplies in front of the families in need, turn around and leave, without speaking, contact or communication.

Until one day, a group of bandits heard the news of an aid to farmers from somewhere and knew that the poor people had food, so they went to a village to rob and steal the food and clothes that the farmers had obtained.

As a result, he ran into Zhao Jun and others who came to deliver supplies.

Relying on their large numbers, Zhao Jun and others attacked in unison, drove away the bandits, rescued the farmers, and preserved their supplies.

After this battle, the two sides successfully broke the ice. The frightened farmers then realized that these well-dressed people were not bad people, and they were not here to kill them. It seemed that they were really just here to help them.

He brought them food and clothes, and risked his life to drive away the bandits and save them.

It turns out that there are really good people in this world?
The same thing happened in other villages.

It is estimated that the news that people from the agricultural assistance organization distributed supplies to these farmers spread out, attracted the attention of bandits, and some villages were robbed.

Later, Yuan Shu, Lu Zhi and others analyzed the situation and felt that so many bandits suddenly appeared in the middle of winter for no reason, and there might be something wrong with their origins.

Yuan Shu placed his suspicions on some local powerful landlords, but the incident happened in a hurry and he didn't catch the suspects, so he had no evidence.

But this matter is not completely without good results.

After this turmoil, the relationship between the agricultural assistance organization and the local self-employed farmers was broken, and the farmers were finally willing to believe that the agricultural assistance organization was really here to help them, and not some bad guys with unknown origins.

Farmers began to show goodwill towards agricultural assistance organizations and were willing to communicate with them.

Zhao Jun was the first person to communicate with the farmers because he had many confusions and was eager to know why these farmers were unwilling to accept their kindness at first.

He communicated with a farmer named Zhang and asked about their ideas.

The old farmer from the Zhang family told Zhao Jun his thoughts very honestly.

The main thing is that I just can't understand, I don't believe, and I can't comprehend how there can be such a good person in the world.

They had only heard of such good people in legends and had never seen them in person.

The food they worked so hard to grow was always taken away, and they were left with very little. As for getting food from other places...the thought had only appeared in their dreams a few times.

Occasionally, it was said that the imperial court distributed disaster relief grain, but the amount was pitifully small, and the officials were mostly cruel, beating and scolding people at every turn. In the end, they could only barely keep people from starving to death.

And now, someone is actually giving them food and clothes for free.

They were unwilling to believe in the existence of such a good thing from the bottom of their hearts. Based on their survival instinct, they judged that there must be a trap here.

It happened so many times and nothing bad happened. The things they ate were not poisonous and the clothes they wore were quite warm. It didn't seem like they were going to harm them.

The farmers had actually been shaken for a long time, but it was not until the bandits attacked that they truly believed that the people in the farmers' assistance organization were helping them, not harming them.

After hearing this, Zhao Jun was not happy at all. Instead, he remained silent for a long time. Finally, he found Yuan Shu and expressed his confusion.

"Mr. Yuan, what kind of suffering could make them not even believe that there is good intention in the world?"

Yuan Shu shook his head and sighed deeply.

"There are as many desires as there are consciences in the world. From now on, desires are even greater than consciences. These farmers are the easiest group of people to bully. Naturally, all desires go to them, and conscience cannot reach them."

Zhao Jun sighed deeply and felt hatred. He hated his past self and hated his current desires.

As a result, he completely became a loyal believer of Zhiliangzhi, one of Yuan Shu's most capable followers, and one of the most active leaders in the agricultural assistance organization.
