Chapter 65: Watching the Moon and Writing on Mid-Autumn Night

Chapter 65: Watching the Moon and Writing on Mid-Autumn Night

Chen Jingle has already read the Ming Dynasty part of the national history.

The popular story begins with a bowl and ends with a tree.

Since Chen Jingle has read a lot of historical time-travel novels about the Ming Dynasty, he has a better understanding of the development process of the Ming Dynasty than that of other dynasties.

This period of history is very interesting to read.

Although he was not a nationalist, he was still grateful that Zhu Yuanzhang was able to drive out the Tartars and restore China, even though Zhu Yuanzhang later recognized the Yuan Dynasty as the legitimate dynasty for the sake of legality.

At the same time, I feel speechless and dissatisfied with Zhu's double standards and personal limitations.

Another example is Emperor Yongle, who "even if he had compiled the Yongle Encyclopedia into the greatest book, history books would not record him as the heir apparent."

Or he could be called the Emperor of the Gate, the Oirat student, and the God of War of the Ming Dynasty.

There is also Emperor Wanshou, who "trained his body to be like a crane and was not afraid of being strangled by palace maids", and his little cabinet minister, who was the first weightlifting champion of the Ming Dynasty.

I can only say that this dynasty is really interesting.

but!

If you really read through the history books, you will find that just a few strokes represent the life of a person, or even the lives of tens of millions of people. This feeling is still very heavy.

We all said we would learn from history, but how many people have actually done so?
It’s difficult to break out of the historical cycle!
Looking at the history of the Ming Dynasty, it is no surprise that in the end it became "Why did the Six Dynasties become just a matter of private interests?" After all, systems are made by people, and abolishing them is just a matter of a word.

It is common that when a person dies, a government ends, and people forget about him.

……

Perhaps influenced by the content of the history class, Chen Jingle sighed deeply after the class. He felt like he wanted to talk but didn't know who to talk to.

So he thought about it and took out his pen, ink, paper and inkstone.

These are the learning supplies I purchased earlier.

There happens to be a practical class next, so I might as well write something!

"Since it is Mid-Autumn Festival, let's write a poem to suit the occasion." Chen Jingle looked at the moon outside the window, pondered for a moment, and then came up with the answer.

Dip the ink and write!
"Watching the Moon on the 15th Night - Wang Jian"

"The ground in the courtyard is white, crows are perched on the trees,

Cold dew silently wet osmanthus.

Tonight, Yueming people look all over,
I don’t know where the autumn thoughts fall.”

Signed: Chen Jingle, Mid-Autumn Festival of Jiachen Year

Don't say it, really don't say it.

When the emotion comes up, what I write is a little different from usual.

A sense of agility and arrogance comes to life on the paper.

It was mentioned before that Chen Jingle learned calligraphy in the system knowledge class. In fact, he mainly studied Mi style, but he also dabbled in calligraphy fonts of other famous calligraphers.

When Chinese people learn calligraphy, they usually cannot do without the Two Wangs, Mi Fu and Yan Zhenqing.

These four people have been praised as T0-level calligraphers by literati of all generations. Others, including Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, Zhao Mengfu, Dong Qichang, etc., are slightly inferior.

Chen Jingle's calligraphy is based on Mi Fu's calligraphy, drawing on the strengths of other masters, and finally integrating his own writing habits, mainly running script and regular script.

The main point is to do whatever you want and whatever makes you comfortable!
The painting in front of you, "Watching the Moon on the 15th Night", is in the style of running cursive script.

The structure of Tang Dynasty language is the same as that of Song Dynasty.

It may be a little bit far from establishing a new school of thought, but compared with people today, it can at least be considered advanced.

The calligraphy style has a lot to do with the personality of the writer.

If it were the Chen Jingle of the past, he would not be able to write this kind of characters. In the local dialect, it is "writing like chicken claws digging sand". Although there is an element of exaggeration, it can't really be called good-looking. At most, it is neat when he writes seriously.

It has always been a regret in his heart that he was not able to write well when he was in school.

Later, under systematic guidance, I studied calligraphy many times and gradually learned to write beautifully.

Now it can be said that there is a certain style.

Agility is the flowing style of cursive writing itself, while arrogance is related to the system. After all, if you are a man with a system, it would be abnormal if you are not a little bit arrogant.

It’s just that Chen Jingle’s arrogance is not written on his face.

Besides, he was a somewhat arrogant person, otherwise why would he quit his job and run away after falling out with his partner?

“It’s really well written!”

Chen Jingle is quite satisfied with his work.

In a sense, it is a small milestone in his calligraphy, and his style and techniques are more advanced than before.

……

Seeing this, Chen Jingle took the opportunity to write another poem, again a poem.

This time it is a work by a modern person, and it is also an ancient poem that he likes very much.

"Ode to History: Li Mengtang"

"When the high pavilion is hanging its robes and adjusting the tripod,

It’s a pity that there are people in the world who complain about me.

The water that overturned the boat is the tears of the people.
You won’t know until you see Hengliu.”

Same signature.

It also fits with his insights from reading Ming history.

This time, the running script used is in the style of Zhao Mengfu. In addition to the overall unrestrained style, the brushstrokes give people a feeling of depression and indignation.

Oh~
How come I have started to imitate those ancient people who had talents but were not appreciated and had no way to serve their country?

Chen Jingle shook his head.

"But to be honest, I feel like this one is better written than the last one. Have I improved that much?"

Even Chen Jingle himself was a little surprised.

……

There is actually no uniform standard to judge whether calligraphy is good or bad.

But there will be a minimum standard.

Based on this minimum standard, each dynasty has its own aesthetics. The unique beauty of Chinese characters is completely different from other carriers.

Good or bad is actually a very subjective judgment.

Even top calligraphers may have different opinions, but most of them can be judged from the aspects of craftsmanship, naturalness, emotion, innovation and character.

Among all the famous artists of all ages, the one who most admired craftsmanship was Zhao Mengfu.

He believed that "there are two aspects to learning calligraphy: one is brushwork, and the other is character shape. If brushwork is not refined, even if it is good, it is still bad; if character shape is not wonderful, even if it is familiar, it is still raw. Only when you understand these aspects when learning calligraphy can you talk about calligraphy."

But this is not always the case.

For example, "Eulogy for My Nephew", which is known as the second best running script in the world, has the most corrections and the most sloppy handwriting among the three major running scripts. However, its sincere emotions overflow from the tip of the pen, shocking everyone who has seen this calligraphy work.

The mainstream throughout the ages has been more pursuing nature, which is the state of returning to nature that was widely praised in ancient times.

Innovations include Zhangcao and Songjin, while character includes Cai Jing and a modern person with outstanding calligraphy attainments but whose name cannot be mentioned.

Chen Jingle believes that as long as he thinks it looks good, it's fine, even if it's a Jianghu style, as long as it's not for competition or exhibition.

Good calligraphy gives the public a sense of beauty no matter what font you use. Even if you don’t understand what is written, you can still see the strong beauty of form on the paper.

For example, Cai Xiang’s "Letter on Footache".

Some people may say that art is art, and there is a difference between art and being beautiful.

But Chen Jingle feels that art is also meant to serve the public. Some people currently go for the ugly, weird, and crazy route in order to stand out, which has somewhat deviated from the original intention of calligraphy.

Calligraphy refers to writing in accordance with the characteristics of the characters and their meanings, using its style, brushwork, structure and composition to create an aesthetically pleasing work of art.

Rich! Rich! Beautiful! Feeling!
If we deviate from these four words, and just write calligraphy for the sake of being ugly or weird for the sake of being weird, then there is no point in talking about calligraphy.

Not as good as Kun body.

There is such an unhealthy trend in the domestic calligraphy circle now. Not all of them, but at least some of them think that if you are a boss, a retired senior official, or a disciple of a master, the words you write are good.

on the contrary!

If you are a farmer or a worker, then you only have the form but not the spirit, or you will be directly judged as a gangster style.

Similarly, there are poetry circles, folk art circles, etc. Chen Jingle is not sure about the national-level ones, but he has seen quite a few at the provincial and municipal levels.

Anyway, no matter what industry or field, as long as it is related to the word "circle", it is bound to be related to fame and fortune, and commercial promotion.

If you don't pursue status in any circle and just treat it as a hobby, it's fine to write casually.

If you really want to make progress, you have to consider your own status and the people you learn from.

……

After finishing the two pieces of calligraphy, Chen Jingle felt as if all the depression in his heart had been swept away.

Take a long breath.

I couldn't help but take out my phone to take a picture and posted it on WeChat Moments.

This is a rare thing. The last time he posted on WeChat Moments was the time before.
