Rebirth 1977 Great Era

Chapter 965 Visiting Da Jin, a Doctor in Dialects Heals Himself

Chapter 965 Visiting Da Jin, a Doctor in Dialects Heals Himself (Two Chapters Combined)
Inside the car, Jin Shiyuan sat behind Fang Yan, looking out the window and said:

"Production is on track today. I wanted to lend a hand, but everyone was so efficient that I didn't get a chance to help."

Before Fang Yan could respond, He Puren spoke up:
"Professor Jin, please don't say that. Your suggestions have been of great help to us."

Zeng Luquan quickly echoed:

"If the process improvement plan proposed by my senior is implemented, the production efficiency and yield rate will definitely reach a new level."

Fang Yan smiled and sighed:

"Indeed, many people make many wiser; when everyone gets together, they can always come up with new ideas."

Kim Se-won laughed heartily:

"Haha, three cobblers with their wits combined can outwit Zhuge Liang!"

“You lot are not just mediocre craftsmen, you are clearly top experts in the industry!” Fang Yan said.

However, Zeng Luquan was somewhat dissatisfied. He shook his head and muttered:

"Putting aside whether it's top-notch or not, it could have started production much earlier, but it's been stuck on process parameters for so long..."

"Being able to identify and solve problems is already quite remarkable," Fang Yan comforted. "In the production process, it's often the inconspicuous little details that trip us up. Only when we find the cause do we realize that the answer was right under our noses."

He Puren chuckled and joked, "See? The leader really knows how to talk!"

Everyone in the car burst into laughter.

Although Fang Yan is the youngest of the four, he is already everyone's boss. In this era where seniority matters, such a situation is truly rare.

As they were talking, Zeng Luquan suddenly asked:

"Now that the finished product is produced, should it be sent directly to Peking Union Medical College Hospital, or should the Ministry of Health be notified first?"

He Puren added:

"How about we just send it directly to the China Academy of Engineering Physics?"

Fang Yan pondered for a moment:
"Send someone to Peking Union Medical College Hospital tomorrow. I'll call the Ministry of Health later, since this medicine is for scientists at the China Academy of Engineering Physics, and it will probably have to go through the testing process."

He Puren said:
"We have already entrusted the research institute to expedite the processing of the test report, and we should have it by tomorrow morning."

"Such high efficiency!?" Fang Yan was slightly surprised, then he nodded: "Pack the original documents with the shipment, and I will submit them together later."

As they were talking, the car had already entered Peking Union Medical College Hospital.

It was rush hour, and the hospital was quieter than during the day.

After parking the car, everyone got out one after another.

Fang Yan turned to Jin Shiyuan and asked:

"I heard the Japanese sent out invitations everywhere, and Professor Jin received one too?"

“Received it. The price is five hundred US dollars a day.” Jin Shiyuan nodded frankly, then said with a smile, “I heard about you opening the letter in public. You reacted quickly! I didn’t even think of that at the time.”

"You are all kind-hearted, I never expected them to be so despicable. I was prepared for this!" Fang Yan waved his hand, said no more, and urged everyone to head home.

When they arrived home, Lao Hu had already prepared the contract and was waiting for them.

"Gentlemen, we meet again!" Old Hu greeted everyone with a smile.

Everyone greeted Hu Daohu.

This is the company's biggest financial backer; without him, the secret formula research institute wouldn't be able to operate.

"Professor Jin, welcome to the team!" Old Hu shook hands with Professor Jin.

He then took the contract from his assistant, Kobayashi, and handed it to Professor Jin Shiyuan:

"This is our shareholders' contract. Please take a look."

"These are the same models as everyone else's. Feel free to ask me any questions."

When Jin Shiyuan saw the contract handed to him, he solemnly accepted it with both hands and began to read it.

It includes technology-based equity investment and profit distribution.

This includes the technology valuation ratio and the mechanism for tying interests together.

Then there are technology ownership clauses and confidentiality agreements.

Division of decision-making power and responsibility.

In addition, there are supplementary agreements to prevent poaching, as well as special provisions.

After reviewing all the clauses, Professor Jin Shiyuan didn't see any that would put him at a disadvantage.

He was quite satisfied with this.

Then, without raising any questions or requesting any changes, he simply took out a pen and started signing his name on it.

Then they pressed their handprints on it.

Lao Hu also stamped the document and signed his name on behalf of the company.

And that concludes today's most important task.

"Congratulations on Professor Jin joining us!" Old Hu looked at the contract in his hand with delight and shook hands with Professor Jin again.

The human resources in China are really good; all the big shots here don't haggle at all, they just look at the contracts and sign them immediately.

In other countries, they definitely wouldn't be able to persuade someone to come without making three visits to their humble abode.

Even if you manage to get someone involved, the sheer number of terms and conditions to be revised will be overwhelming.

At this moment, Lao Hu sighed that the environment in mainland China is still better; even professors with such high academic standards can be recruited by companies.

For a moment, he even had an impulse to shift his focus from overseas to China.

At this moment, Fang Yan's mother walked in from outside and reminded Hu Daohu:
"Xiao Hu, your food has arrived!"

Hu Daohu then came to his senses, agreed, and sent his assistant Xiaolin out to give him the money.

He and Fang Yan invited everyone to sit down in the main hall.

Professor Jin probably didn't expect that after having a banquet at the Yanjing Hotel at noon, he would have to eat takeout from the Yanjing Hotel again in the evening.

For Zeng Luquan and Professor He Puren, it was their first time eating at the Yanjing Hotel.

The two of them also benefited from this today.

After the meal, as usual, Lao Hu took out a red envelope and handed it to Professor Jin Shiyuan.

And she invited him:

"I wonder when Professor Jin will have some free time to come and provide some guidance to our production line in Dongba, Chaoyang?"

Professor Jin Shiyuan was also an honest man; he was paid to do someone a favor, so he immediately said:
I don't have class tomorrow morning.

Old Hu immediately slapped his thigh and said:

"How about we go together tomorrow? I'll drive and pick you up."

Professor Jin asked:
"Okay, what time in the morning?"

Old Hu didn't know if Professor Jin would want to sleep in when he didn't have classes, so he could only say:
"That's fine, but getting there as soon as possible would be best."

Professor Jin Shiyuan said:
"Seven o'clock, I think it's better to go early so I can see the whole process from starting up the machine and feeding materials to producing the finished product."

This is earlier than expected.

Old Hu didn't expect Professor Jin to be so enthusiastic about his work.

He nodded immediately.

"Okay! I'll pick you up at the school gate at seven o'clock sharp tomorrow!"

After agreeing on a time, we went to Fangyan's study for a while to have tea.

At 8:30, He Puren explained that there was still production work to be done tomorrow and reminded everyone that it was time to pack up.

Fang Yan immediately stood up and said to them:

"I'll go get the car and come over. Everyone can just wait at the entrance."

Then he said to Lao Hu:

"You stay with everyone."

Old Hu responded, and then Fang Yan went to get the car, while Old Hu chatted with everyone at the door while waiting for Fang Yan.

At this moment, Zeng Luquan asked Lao Hu curiously:

"How did Mr. Hu get to know Director Fang and develop a relationship with him on this project?"

Upon hearing this, Lao Hu smiled and said:

"That's a long story!"

"There were a lot of things that happened inside, which cannot be explained in just a few words."

Fang Yan's car had already driven up by.

Old Hu said with a smile:

"I'll talk to you all in detail next time I have time."

Zeng Luquan and the others nodded with smiles, knowing they would have something to talk about next time they met.

Next, the car with the dialect stopped at the door and invited them to get in.

Then they sent all three of them back.

……

After dropping everyone off, Fang Yan was about to drive home when she remembered that Da Jin should be able to meet people by now.

So I drove up to the entrance of Dongzhimen Hospital. I didn't have much with me, but I had some cigarettes and alcohol in the trunk, so it wouldn't be appropriate to give them as a gift. Luckily, I also had a box of fruit candies.

Having chosen this dialect, we went straight into the hospital and headed towards the inpatient floor.

Fang Yan is quite familiar with Dongzhimen Hospital. Although he doesn't come here often now, they still pay him a salary every month. And most importantly, Fang Yan saw the publicity photo of himself for his act of bravery downstairs in the inpatient department.

There was also a photo of himself, Meng Jimin, and the nurse Xiao Tao.

The three brave warriors of the medicine room! (See Chapter 240)
At that time, Lao Meng was almost pushed off the building. Recently, Fang Yan's life has basically been a routine of going between home, school, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and research institute.

Although his brother-in-law said that the public security situation is very bad now, he himself doesn't really feel it.

Because there's simply no chance of encountering those thugs or anything like that.

She went upstairs with ease, and a passing nurse saw Fang Yan and was momentarily dazed.

It wasn't until after Fang Yan left that I belatedly realized what had happened.

"Hey, that just now... sounded like a dialect?"

"Did you see it wrong?"

"I must be seeing things..."

"..."

Fang Yan went upstairs to the trauma ward and found Da Jin's ward without much trouble, only to find that there was someone on duty at the door. He was stopped just as he was about to enter.

"Comrade, this is a special ward, you can't go in."

Fang Yan took out his student ID and handed it over: "This is my ID."

The other person glanced at it and said politely but firmly:
"I'm sorry, Comrade Fang, only doctors and their families are allowed to enter here."

It seems the higher-ups have given a strict order.

"Brother Fang!" came the voice of Yan Hua, Da Jin's younger brother, from inside the room. He quickly came out and, seeing the situation, hurriedly explained:

"The foreign affairs department won't allow visits, saying that my brother's situation is special and it's inconvenient for him to see people at the moment."

Fang Yan had intended to show his specialist certificate from Dongzhimen Hospital, but after hearing this, he put it back and instead asked:

How is your brother doing now?

"Brother Fang, I'm fine! I just scraped my head a few times, but it doesn't hurt anymore... It's just that they said I'm not suitable to work at the school anymore..." Da Jin's voice came from inside the house.

"Don't worry, I've already arranged a new job for you. Just focus on recovering and report to work as soon as you're fully healed," Fang Yan said through the door.

"Okay!" Da Jin readily agreed, and you could tell he was relieved.

At this moment, a nurse at the nurses' station heard the commotion and spoke up to remind them:

"Comrade, please keep quiet here!" Then she looked up and saw Fang Yan, and exclaimed in surprise, "Dr. Fang?!" Fang Yan then realized that the head nurse in front of her was actually Xiao Tao, the little nurse from last time, and now her name tag read "Head Nurse".

"My friend is in the hospital, I'm just here to visit him, I'll be leaving right away," Fang Yan explained.

"It's nothing, it's nothing! Long time no see! Are you and Dr. Meng both studying at university now?" Xiao Tao asked with delight.

"Oh, you've become a head nurse?"

"Haha, thanks to you guys! The hospital leaders said that I was the only one left of the 'three warriors' in the pharmacy, and I had to stay no matter what, so they assigned me to be the head nurse on this floor."

"That's good!" Fang Yan nodded with a smile, glanced at her watch, and said, "I have to go back now. Please take good care of my friend."

"You're too kind! This is a special care ward, we will definitely take good care of you."

Fang Yan turned and shouted into the house, "Yan Hua, Da Jin, I'm leaving!"

"Okay, Brother Fang!" Da Jin replied from inside.

"Take care, Brother Fang! I'll see you off." Yan Hua followed Fang Yan downstairs.

On the way, Fang Yan suddenly remembered: Shouldn't Yan Hua be in college? Why isn't he attending evening self-study?
So Fang Yan asked him.

“After my brother had the accident, I took leave to come and take care of him for a few days,” Yan Hua explained.

"Where is your sister-in-law?" Fang Yan asked.

Yan Hua said:

“She has two children at home and can’t leave. My brother is really determined to work for you this time. He’s cut off contact with all his former brothers and hasn’t told them about his family situation.”

Fang Yan then realized that Da Jin had quietly done a lot of decluttering.

Fang Yan said to Yan Hua:

"Don't worry, I've already arranged the work. Those four boys who beat him up have dropped out of school. I'll be giving him important responsibilities in the future, so don't think too much about it."

Yan Hua said somewhat nervously:
"Brother Fang, has my brother caused you any trouble? He's been feeling uneasy these past few days."

He said in dialect:

"It's okay, tell him not to be so sensitive, this doesn't affect me."

Hearing this from the dialect, Yan Hua finally breathed a sigh of relief.

After seeing Fang Yan off in the car and watching him drive away, he immediately jogged back to tell his older brother the news.

……

Fang Yan returned home, where Lao Hu was having his assistant Xiao Lin summarize the problems at the factory.

Fang Yan glanced at their notebooks and saw that they had indeed written quite a few questions.

"Professor Jin is going over tomorrow; we need to ask him about these issues," Old Hu said to Fang Yan.

Fang Yan nodded, then remembered the recent filming.

"By the way, how's filming going lately? I haven't heard anything from you." Fang Yan asked him.

This question left Lao Hu completely baffled.

He's been busy running around the factory these past few days and hasn't had a chance to visit it at all.

So he had no choice but to ask his assistant, Kobayashi:

"Kobayashi, how's filming going lately? It should be going smoothly, right?"

Kobayashi said:

“I go to check on it every day, and the director says it’s progressing very smoothly.”

"It's that actress Xiao Li injured last time. Her face is still swollen and she's a little upset."

Upon hearing this, Old Hu's face darkened:
"What's with all this talk about emotions? If it doesn't work, just replace them."

"..." Fang Yan was speechless. Why did this guy act like he had a prejudice against the other person?

He said in dialect:

"Don't worry, it's normal for someone to be a little emotional after getting injured."

As a result, Lao Hu waved his hand and said:
"Oh dear, you don't know, these Hong Kong actors are so arrogant and will blow the smallest things out of proportion."

"I'm sure she's almost fully recovered now, she just wants some more money."

After saying that, he said to his assistant, Kobayashi:

"If she's not good enough, replace her."

Then he remembered something:
"By the way, Ding Pei said she'd give us free filming opportunities anyway, so I figured we might as well take advantage of it!"

Should Ding Pei be cast as Aunt Thirteen?
Fang Yan was both amused and exasperated; Old Hu was really something else...

Old Hu didn't care about any of that and said to Xiao Lin:
"Look at that actress, she's really putting on airs, just give her a plane ticket."

Kobayashi nodded:
"Good boss."

“We can’t keep an eye on them every day. Next, we’ll have each department write a progress report. I need to know their current filming progress.” Old Hu thought for a moment and then added.

Kobayashi continued to nod:

"clear."

After saying this, Fang Yan realized that Ding Pei hadn't gone back yet.

After I gave her acupuncture last time, she seemed to get better immediately.

He wasn't hospitalized or sought medical treatment, and the results seem to be even better than Fang Yan had anticipated.

I don't know why she's still here now that she's already recovered.

Perhaps they haven't had enough fun yet, or maybe they really want to get a role here?

But she doesn't seem to lack roles...

Forget it, I'm too lazy to think about it anymore.

After saying hello to Lao Hu, Fang Yan went to the study.

There's also a small portion of the content from the last fragment of the Yongle Encyclopedia that wasn't included.

Fang Yan will finish writing this and hand it over to Lao Ji tomorrow. He should also ask Lao Ji to make two sets of gold needles, the kind made by Yuan Qingshan.

Fang Yan stayed up until midnight that night and finally finished writing down the last bit.

By this time, everyone in the family had gone to sleep, and when Fang Yan went out, only the cats and dogs were still waiting for him at the door.

They are all nocturnal creatures, and they are especially energetic at night.

Fang Yan petted the cats and dogs, giving them all her care, then quickly washed up before returning to her bedroom to prepare for bed.

His wife was already asleep. When Fang Yan lay down on the bed, she greeted him half-asleep, "Finished with work?"

Fang Yan patted her on the shoulder and said:

"Okay, go to sleep."

After lying down, he quickly fell asleep.

That night, Fang Yan had a dream in which he went to Tokyo to give a lecture, but was forcibly detained. He then fled all the way in Tokyo, hiding and running away.

When he woke up, he found that it was getting light outside the window, and he was covered in a cold sweat.

My sleep schedule has definitely been irregular lately; I rarely dream anyway.

It seems like it's time to take care of myself.

Fang Yan felt his pulse and found it to be wiry and slippery. He looked at his tongue in the mirror and found that the edges and tip of his tongue were red and the coating was thin and yellow.

Fang Yan thought for a moment:
A wiry and slippery pulse: A wiry pulse indicates liver and gallbladder diseases, while a slippery pulse indicates an accumulation of phlegm and heat.

Red edges and tip of the tongue: Liver and gallbladder fire (edges of the tongue belong to the liver and gallbladder), and excessive heart fire (tip of the tongue belongs to the heart).

Thin yellow tongue coating: Indicates the initial stage of heat symptoms that have not yet subsided and dried out.

Night sweats and excessive dreaming: Heat forces body fluids to leak out, and phlegm and heat disturb the mind.

Goodness, this is what I've been doing lately—liver stagnation turning into internal heat, and phlegm-heat disturbing my mind.

I checked the taste in my mouth, and thankfully, I didn't experience any bitterness.

Fang Yan doesn't take medicine. In the morning, when practicing Xingyi Quan, he deliberately practiced splitting fist, collapsing fist, and horizontal fist.

The principle is very simple, it's just about the five elements' mutual generation and restraint. Master Lu Donghua is over eighty but looks like he's in his sixties, because he uses this skill to both fight and maintain his health.

Metal (splitting fist) overcomes Wood (liver fire).

Wood (Bengquan) dredges the earth (resolves phlegm)

Earth (horizontal fist) controls water (preventing the reckless movement of fire).
The Pi Quan (劈拳) belongs to the metal element. It involves drilling and chopping, and when combined with the "Yi" (噫) sound, it stimulates the Lung Meridian of Hand-Taiyin. Through the principle of metal controlling wood, it inhibits the hyperactivity of liver yang.

When throwing a punch, the Bengquan (崩拳) belongs to the Wood element. The long sound of the "Xu" (嘘) is used to soothe the liver. When retracting the punch, one should imagine the heat toxins of the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian being expelled from the Dadun (大敦) acupoint.

The horizontal fist belongs to the Earth element.

Coordinate the breathing technique with the body rotation, and concentrate your mind on the Zhangmen acupoint when shifting your weight.

The arc-shaped trajectory of the splitting fist corresponds to the direction of the Lung Meridian of Hand-Taiyin, the straight-line force of the collapsing fist activates the Qi mechanism of the Liver Meridian of Foot-Jueyin, and the spiral force of the horizontal fist drives the circulation of the belt meridian.

Normally, he's very quiet when he practices boxing in Fangyan, but this morning, the people who practiced boxing with him noticed that he was making noises, as if he had been infected by Lao Hu.

However, after finishing a set of punches, Fang Yan did feel much better.

Then he brewed five more Hangzhou white chrysanthemums for himself.

The dialect should be about right.

Who says a doctor can't heal himself?
Once I discovered the problem, I immediately started looking for a solution.

Ge Hong of the Eastern Jin Dynasty said in his book "Baopuzi: Inner Chapters" that a doctor does not heal himself, and a diviner does not divine for himself.

This means that when a doctor is ill, it is difficult to maintain a calm and detached state. The Six Channels Differentiation System in the Treatise on Cold Damage also states that self-diagnosis can easily lead to cognitive biases caused by being too close to the situation.

When a physician is ill, the seven emotions (joy, anger, worry, thought, grief, fear, and fright) are difficult to harmonize. The "Suwen·Yin Yang Ying Xiang Da Lun" also says that "anger injures the liver, and grief overcomes anger," and other conflicting relationships are disordered.

Zhang Jingyue also noted in the "Classified Canon" that when a physician falls ill, the balance of Yin and Yang is disrupted.

So later, someone came up with a solution... that is, mental cultivation, such as practicing the guiding method in the medical school's meditation technique "Treatise on the Causes and Symptoms of Various Diseases", to reach the state of "I have lost myself" in "Zhuangzi", and break free from attachment to self.

Alternatively, one can practice internal martial arts to train their mind and develop control over their own body.

When you discover that you have a problem, you have the means and ability to take care of yourself.

This is one of the origins of the later saying that medicine and martial arts are inseparable.

After the practice was over, Li Zhengji and his group from the other side also arrived.

It's the same combination, the same recipe.

However, no teachers came this time. They said that people from the Ministry of Education came today, and all the teachers in the school were called together for a meeting.

It seems to be about the latest instructions from higher authorities, which is related to the People's Daily article "Continue to Let Go and Seriously Implement Policies" published some time ago.

There's also the matter of graduate programs at universities.

Professor Yue Meizhong and his team finally managed to get this done.

It looks like the graduate program will start soon.

After breakfast, Fang Yan checked her tongue and pulse again and found that she was much better.

Looks like I'll have to be careful lately.

Staying up late is not a good habit.

Even with my healthy body, I still couldn't quite handle it, let alone others.

He went to his study and retrieved the transcribed fragments of the Yongle Encyclopedia.

Fang Yan called Lao Ji and told him that he was free in the morning to come to Xiehe Hospital, as the documents were already written.

After hanging up the phone, Fang Yan took out another gold bar and put it on his person. He would use this to give Lao Ji acupuncture later.

Then Fang Yan called to Li Zhengji and the other three, and together they headed towards Xiehe Hospital.
