Chapter 792 New Class Teacher Liu Duzhou, Fang Yaozhong's Comrade-in-Arms
Chapter 792 New Class Teacher Liu Duzhou, Fang Yaozhong's Comrade-in-Arms (Bonus Chapter for Monthly Tickets)
"In order to better optimize the education model and educate students according to their own qualities, the school leaders have decided to split all classes into three smaller classes. Group C and some students will be in separate classes, and I will continue to lead them, focusing on consolidating basic theories. The remaining students will be divided into two classes based on their entrance examination, recent academic performance and personal information, with Professor Ren Yingqiu and Professor Liu Duzhou serving as class teachers respectively."
"Class division is not elimination, but rather a way to make teaching resources more precise. Students in Group C don't need to feel pressured. Let's take it one step at a time, and there will be opportunities for adjustment next year."
"No matter which class you are assigned to, you will all become doctors who can stand on your own in the future, cure diseases that cannot be cured abroad, and write papers that are recognized by the TCM community. Group C, in particular, must prove that diligence can make up for lack of talent. This is the meaning of class assignment!"
The opening remarks in the prescription were first intended to reassure those who were about to be assigned to Group C class.
After all, the people in this group are, to some extent, the ones who were left over after being selected.
Fang Yan felt it was a bit of a pity, mainly because Fang Yaozhong was no longer her homeroom teacher.
"Students whose names are called now, please enter my class."
The prescription was immediately read aloud:
"Qi Ningxiang, Gao Yi, Liu Tirun, Guo Deyou, Li Xingmao, Dai Shasha..."
First, it was everyone in Group C, and then some barefoot doctors from the class were also brought along; they were all students with relatively poor basic skills.
There were more than fifty people in total.
The students in Group C were in stable condition, but the dozen or so students who had been assigned to Group C had noticeably strange expressions, which was practically a blatant admission that their medical skills were inadequate.
However, it is a school regulation after all, and they have no choice but to comply. Moreover, most of the students in the class are indeed better at medicine and have a more solid foundation than them.
This is undeniable.
After reading it aloud, Fang Yaozhong wrote the four characters "厚积薄发" (meaning "accumulate knowledge and skills before making a breakthrough") on the blackboard and addressed the crowd:
"Students assigned to this class, don't be discouraged. You will be receiving a teaching model that is more tailored to your situation. As I said, since you have been admitted to this university, the school will definitely not give up on any of you."
Upon hearing this, the students' expressions softened considerably.
Then Fang Yaozhong picked up another list and said:
"The students whose names are called next will enter Professor Ren Yingqiu's class."
He paused, then read:
"Zeng Yong, Zhang Jizhou, Xiang Yuanchao, Su Lin, Cai Xiwen, Lin Hongying, Qian Bo..."
The first names called were Fang Yan's three roommates, which made Du Heng and Yan Yifan's hearts jump. But after Xiang Yuanchao's name was called, their names weren't called. Instead, other names were called. The two looked at each other in confusion. After more than fifty names were called, their names were still not among them.
The two of them were now excited.
This means that the remaining people will be in one class.
What was a bit of a pity for those assigned to this class was that there wasn't a single person from Group A.
In other words, the above considerations are to put high-achieving students in the same class.
There was no comforting word from Fang Yaozhong in this class; he simply addressed them directly:
"Your next class teacher will be Professor Ren Yingqiu. I hope you will study hard and strive to improve your medical skills."
Ren Yingqiu was a representative of the academic school, and he basically spent his whole life teaching. In 1936, he studied at the Shanghai Chinese Medical College, where he was taught by famous doctors such as Ding Zhongying and Xie Liheng.
He returned to Sichuan in 1937 due to the War of Resistance against Japan, where he set up his own clinic to practice medicine and teach at a middle school.
In the 40s, he served as the editor-in-chief of the West China Medical Journal, published numerous academic papers, and completed several medical books.
The book comprises 37 monographs, including "Ren's Infectious Diseases", "Zhongjing's Pulse Diagnosis Case Studies", and "A Brief History of Chinese Medicine", totaling approximately 1300 million words.
In 1950, he served as the vice director of the Jiangjin County Medical Workers Association. In 1952, he served as the director of academic affairs at the CQ City Traditional Chinese Medicine Continuing Education School. In 1957, he was transferred to BJ College of Traditional Chinese Medicine to teach, where he served as the director of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the president of the Society for Research on Basic Theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
He has been engaged in TCM education for many years and is a true veteran professor.
He was rigorous in his teaching, demanding high standards from young and middle-aged teachers, and personally revised his lectures. He cultivated a large number of TCM talents, and thousands of students were taught by him.
They have a very wide network of contacts.
What's even more impressive is that he studied seven major medical schools, including Medical Classics, Classical Formulas, Hejian School, Yishui School, Typhoid Fever, Febrile Diseases, and Huitong School.
So Fang Yan actually really wanted to be in his class, but the school asked him to take care of other people instead.
"The next person whose name is called will be in Professor Liu Duzhou's class," Fang Yaozhong said to the crowd.
He didn't actually have to say it, but the ritual was there, so he had to say the names. "Fang Yan, Li Zhengji, Xiao Chengzhi, Cheng Baogui, Wang Zhijun, Meng Jimin, Lei Lian, Yuan Qingshan, Fan Changting..."
As expected, the talented people were grouped together. The people from Group A and Group B were in the same class, and there were even some extras, such as Du Heng and Yan Yifan.
These people will all go to Professor Liu Duzhou's class.
Fang Yan recalled Liu Duzhou's situation.
Professor Liu Duzhou is a top figure in the classical Chinese medicine school of thought.
His original name was Liu Rongxian. He was born on October 9, 1917, in Yingkou, Liaoning Province. Although he is 61 years old this year.
However, he looks similar to Fang Yaozhong, with a Zhongshan suit, slicked-back hair, and sharp eyes. He doesn't look like he's over sixty at all; he looks more like he's in his early fifties.
As a child, he was frail and sickly, and often received treatment from traditional Chinese medicine.
His early life was quite similar to that of Sun Simiao. Both of them suffered from colds in their youth and had to visit doctors repeatedly. The cost of medicine exhausted their family fortune. This experience gave him a deep understanding of the suffering that diseases bring to people. In addition, the influence of his father also prompted him to become a doctor and study medical knowledge in order to help more people relieve their pain.
In 1933, at the age of 16, he became an apprentice of Wang Zhiyuan, a famous local doctor. Three years later, he studied traditional Chinese medicine clinical practice for a year under Xie Siquan at the Dalian Shoumin Pharmacy.
After completing his apprenticeship seven years later, he practiced medicine in Dalian, specializing in classical prescriptions, and his reputation as a doctor grew rapidly.
In 1938, he practiced medicine at Zhiyuan Pharmacy in Dalian.
To instill in him the professional ethics of practicing medicine and to encourage him to work hard to treat patients and relieve them from the suffering of illness, his father formally gave him the courtesy name "Duzhou" (渡舟), which later became his given name.
With the name Liu Duzhou, he arrived in Beiping in 1945 and took the national special examination for traditional Chinese medicine practitioners that same year, passing with excellent results.
After 1948, he taught at the North China National Medical College and practiced medicine at places such as the North China People's Hospital in Beijing.
In 1950, he was admitted to the Chinese Medicine Continuing Education School run by the Ministry of Health for further studies. After graduation, he engaged in clinical medical work in traditional Chinese medicine.
In 1956, he was invited to teach Chinese medicine to the "Western Learning Chinese" class at the Institute of Chinese Medicine, and in the same year, he became one of the earliest teachers at Beijing College of Chinese Medicine.
Yes, that's right, this guy is Lao Fang's comrade-in-arms.
They belong to the same group of people who share the same goals as those who speak the dialect.
Moreover, barring any unforeseen circumstances, he will become one of the first batch of master's and doctoral supervisors in traditional Chinese medicine this year, meaning that he will also be one of the deputy class advisors for Fang Yan's postgraduate studies.
After Fang Yaozhong finished speaking, Ren Yingqiu and Professor Liu Duzhou both went on stage and said a few words.
Then, seeing that it was almost time, the group announced:
"In the next class, each class will study separately, elect new class leaders, and adjust dormitory locations."
No one expected things to be settled so quickly; we're going to get everything done tonight.
Some people get a headache just thinking about moving dorm rooms.
Of course, there were also people who had long been fed up with their roommates and were overjoyed.
At this moment, Liu Duzhou addressed the people below:
"Xiao Fang, take our class to classroom 103 in the main building next period."
Fang Yan paused, pointed to himself, and Liu Duzhou nodded:
"Yes, they're calling you. Who else could it be?"
Fang Yan was both amused and exasperated. Fine, you're the homeroom teacher, you can call me whatever you want.
He responded:
"Okay! I understand, Professor Liu."
