The tongue is the sprout of the heart, but the ulceration is on the right side, which is where the liver meridian passes through. It is also dry, cracked, and bleeding like a knife cut, which is consistent with the characteristics of the fire of the dragon and thunder burning upward. This fire is not real fire, but rather caused by the deficiency of kidney yang, where the deficient yang is restless and rushes upward along the liver meridian.

The previous TCM doctor mistakenly used the cold and yin-nourishing medicine Daochi San, which further damaged the yang qi, causing the deficient yang to rise further, thus worsening the condition.
