Chapter 1452 Qin Kaiyuan's Telephone Diagnosis at Li Kejian Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospit
Chapter 1452 Qin Kaiyuan's Telephone Consultation at Li Kejian Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital
Fang Yan was stunned for a moment. He had an amazing memory and didn't remember saying that.
However, he immediately realized that although he had not told Li Ke to develop his hometown, he had told Li Ke before he left that he should treat the illnesses at the grassroots level, reduce the suffering of the villagers, and help promote the project.
Surprisingly, he actually wrote it down, especially when faced with the temptation of being transferred to Taiyuan.
There really are people in the world who keep their promises!
If it were him, Fang Yan didn't think he could do it. Although he wouldn't refuse to do it, he certainly wouldn't do it in a rigid and meticulous manner.
They will most likely choose other methods to fulfill this promise.
For example, after arriving in Taiyuan, he used his connections with higher-ups to influence policy.
At that moment, a phrase suddenly popped into Fang Yan's mind: "Character influences destiny."
A person's personality may not seem to have a significant impact on daily life, but it can lead to completely different life trajectories in these key choices.
Of course, Fang Yan admires Li Ke for keeping his word; he accomplished what Fang Yan himself could not.
Moreover, his personality makes him capable of handling important tasks, and he has already silently memorized the dialect.
He plans to use the two funds he has to donate a traditional Chinese medicine hospital to Lingshi, where Li Ke can serve as the director and train his students.
In this way, the process of establishing the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital for Li Ke can be completed a few years ahead of schedule.
It just so happened that it was able to catch up with the reform and opening up.
In a few years, the influence of the people he has trained will spread even faster.
"Brother Fang?" Just as Fang Yan was brainstorming, Bai Xiaochun couldn't help but remind him.
Fang Yan snapped out of his daze and quickly said:
"Oh, I never expected him to be so true to his word, refusing such a good offer."
Bai Xiaochun said:
"Yes, we were all shocked at the time, but we later learned that Dr. Li Ke had his own considerations."
"First, of course, he promised you, Brother Fang, that he would keep his promise. Second, he said that he is indeed a bit weak in interpersonal relationships, and that it is more suitable for him to focus on traditional Chinese medicine to treat and save lives. He really doesn't want to start learning from scratch in an unfamiliar field, and there is even a possibility that he might offend someone because of his temper. He has already caused a lot of problems in just one county town, and that place is the provincial capital."
Fang Yan suddenly realized that there was such a consideration involved.
Li Ke has a fairly comprehensive self-awareness; he is indeed someone who learns from his mistakes and becomes wiser.
At least I know where my weaknesses lie, and not going to Taiyuan is a way of playing to my strengths and avoiding my weaknesses.
Fang Yan nodded and said:
"I see. So he's still working in his original position at the county hospital?"
Fang Yan was wondering if the county hospital would do anything about making people give up job opportunities in Taiyuan.
"Yes, there's no change. He's still in the same position, but the county hospital has given him a lot of authority and resources. He can handle some medical matters without reporting to his superiors," Bai Xiaochun said.
Fang Yan nodded. Hospitals in small places have limited resources, and reports and signatures are required when doing certain things. The fact that the county hospital leaders were able to delegate so much authority shows that they are quite supportive of his work.
"Ring ring..." The bell rang for class, and many students entered the classroom one after another.
We recently sent out many more people to collect information on medication use in various regions, so the number of people in the class is currently a little smaller.
However, with Bai Xiaochun's return, the others will also gradually return in the next few days.
Today's class was taught by homeroom teacher Wang Yuchuan. The topic was originally scheduled to be taught, but it was changed at the last minute after Bai Xiaochun returned today.
It was replaced by a pilot experience sharing session by Bai Xiaochun.
Bai Xiaochun was called up to the stage and recounted what had happened in Lingshi County during this period.
It was obvious that the students in the class were also very interested in this; they were all people who hadn't been able to go and were eager to hear these stories.
In particular, the local customs and difficulties encountered in the Northwest were a valuable learning experience for most of them, even though they had never been there before.
……
After finishing her morning classes, Fang Yan left the school and went directly to the Beijing office of the "Qihuang Xinhuo Fund" of the Xicheng District Health Department.
When Singaporean tycoon Wang Jing brought his father-in-law to the hospital for stomach treatment, he did so to express his gratitude to Fang Yan for establishing a foundation.
Unlike the "Dialect Traditional Chinese Medicine Development Fund" established by Representative Huo, this fund covers a wider range of aspects of traditional Chinese medicine. Its mission is to promote the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese medicine, focusing on both advanced and cutting-edge fields while also serving grassroots communities. Sub-projects include talent cultivation, academic research, knowledge dissemination, grassroots medical support, and emergency medical assistance, making it a multi-dimensional fund. (See Chapter 944)
Fang Yan went here to arrange a traditional Chinese medicine hospital for Li Ke.
However, this traditional Chinese medicine hospital costs a lot of money, so even if you speak dialects, you still have to go through the procedures.
Of course, after understanding his needs, the staff here immediately began coordinating various aspects of the process.
After learning about the dialect, I discovered that there was quite a lot to do, and it wasn't just about money.
First, a dedicated sub-project needs to be established within the framework of the fund. Because Fang Yan is the core driving force behind the fund, and there are also the rules set up by Wang Jin, some meeting steps have been eliminated, which has saved Fang Yan a lot of time.
Then, the project objectives were clarified, with the funds specifically earmarked for the construction of a traditional Chinese medicine hospital in Lingshi County, and Li Ke was ensured to serve as its president.
The next step is to coordinate the budget and lead the development of the construction, equipment procurement, and initial operation budgets, which are then submitted to the Foundation Council for approval.
After completing these steps, we will send people to Lingshi to engage in in-depth discussions with the local government.
In the local area, it is necessary to select a site, allocate land, and negotiate the supporting measures promised by the local town government. This also involves staffing and subsequent financial subsidies, which is equivalent to the matter of expanding enrollment in the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the local dialect area.
Then came the signing of some legal agreements, followed by hospital construction and the procurement of medical equipment. Finally, Li Ke was appointed.
Before coming here, I knew there might be a lot of steps involved, but after actually understanding the situation, I realized it wasn't that simple.
Fortunately, there is a dedicated person in charge of this matter, so Fang Yan doesn't need to worry too much. He only needs to know the progress of the whole process at regular intervals.
Of course, to show respect to Wang Jin, Fang Yan still needed to inform him beforehand about such a large sum of money being allocated.
So after finishing things here, Fang Yan immediately found a place to send a telegram to Wang Jin.
After doing all this, Fang Yan sent a final telegram to Ling Shi Li Ke.
Tell him what's going to happen next, so he'll be aware of what's going on.
……
In the afternoon, Fang Yan stayed at home reading the books his master had given him, mainly ancient texts about liver diseases.
I'd like to see if there are any other prescriptions that are of good reference value for chronic liver disease.
I was watching TV until a little after four o'clock when the phone rang at home.
When I answered the phone, a somewhat unfamiliar voice came from the other end:
"Is it Comrade Fang Yan?"
“It’s me, who is it?” Fang Yan asked.
The person on the other end of the phone said:
"Qin Kaiyuan, General Logistics Department of Health." (First appearance in Chapter 1185)
Fang Yan was taken aback, then asked:
"Hey! Comrade Qin, is it about the manual? Or about the battlefield first aid kit?"
Qin Kaiyuan said:
"No, that's not it. I have something else I'd like to ask you about."
Fang Yan frowned slightly, but still said:
"Okay, go ahead."
"Do you have any experience with tongue sores?" Qin Kaiyuan asked.
Fang Yan was taken aback; he had thought it was some kind of illness. Turns out it was this. He replied:
"This is a minor illness. I have experience with this; I've encountered quite a few cases when I was practicing at Tongrentang. However, in traditional Chinese medicine terms, this illness is related to other aspects of the body. We need to find and cure the root cause to achieve a complete cure, otherwise it will keep recurring."
Qin Kaiyuan said:
“I have an elder relative who has had tongue sores for half a month. She has used anti-inflammatory drugs, vitamins, and traditional Chinese medicine, but it has not been cured yet. Western medicine surgeons and ENT specialists are now suspecting that it may be malignant!”
He said in dialect:
"Then you should just send someone to Peking Union Medical College Hospital."
Qin Kaiyuan said:
"It's not very convenient, the elderly person doesn't live in Beijing."
Fang Yan suddenly realized and said:
"Oh...I understand."
He paused, then asked:
"Do you know more details? This specific illness needs to be analyzed specifically. What color is the sore? What does it look like? What are the symptoms? What is the pulse like?"
Qin Kaiyuan paused for a few seconds, and then Fang Yan heard him say:
"The sore is on the right side of my tongue, from the tip to the root, about the width of a leek leaf. It's red, has no coating, is dry and cracked, and bleeds. It's extremely painful, and the blood will flow out and wet my pillow after I go to sleep."
"Now I can only sleep for about two hours a day. My face is red like I'm drunk, and my breathing is rapid, like I'm panting. Oh, and my legs below the knees are cold. Even soaking in hot water doesn't help much. The TCM doctor I saw said that my pulse was a surging pulse, but when I pressed down on the cun position, it felt like there was no pulse at all. After taking Daochi San to nourish yin and clear the lungs, it got worse and worse."
"Dr. Fang, do you know what's going on here?"
"Let me think about it..." Fang Yan said, and then quickly started analyzing in his mind.
The patient's right tongue was ulcerated, red, without coating, dry, cracked, and bleeding, accompanied by severe pain. At the same time, the patient's face was flushed as if drunk, which is an extreme contradiction of upper body heat and lower body cold. The pulse was strong and forceful, but weak and shallow in the cun position.
If a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner's use of heat-clearing and yin-nourishing drugs such as Daochi San and Yangyin Qingfei Tang is ineffective or even worsens the condition, it indicates that the diagnosis of the pathogenesis is incorrect.
The pulse is strong and forceful, but the pulse is barely palpable at the cun position, indicating extreme deficiency and cold in the lower abdomen. The so-called strong pulse is actually a false heat caused by the floating of deficient yang.
A flushed face as if drunk and shortness of breath are signs of floating Yang deficiency; coldness below the knees is evidence of true coldness due to weakened Kidney Yang.
When these two are combined, the essence is that it is a case of true cold and false heat.
The tongue is the sprout of the heart, but the ulceration is on the right side, which is where the liver meridian passes through. It is also dry, cracked, and bleeding like a knife cut, which is consistent with the characteristics of the fire of the dragon and thunder burning upward. This fire is not real fire, but rather caused by the deficiency of kidney yang, where the deficient yang is restless and rushes upward along the liver meridian.
The previous TCM doctor mistakenly used the cold and yin-nourishing medicine Daochi San, which further damaged the yang qi, causing the deficient yang to rise further, thus worsening the condition.
A few seconds later, Fang Yan spoke into the phone:
"Comrade Qin, based on the information you provided, this is not an ordinary tongue sore. It is a case of kidney yang deficiency, with the fire of the dragon and thunder scorching the liver meridian. Previously, the TCM doctor was afraid of making a wrong diagnosis and treated it as an excess of heat or yin deficiency with fire excess. Now the patient's yang qi is weak and yin fire is raging. We must quickly and drastically replenish the gate of life and guide the fire back to its origin."
PS: There will be more in the afternoon.
