Chapter 1338 Peking Union Medical College Hospital, your Director Fang is back!
On the way back to the city, before entering the main road, Fang Yan encountered the epidemic prevention team.

They set up checkpoints on some sections of the road and stood guard there together with village officials from nearby brigades. Anyone who tried to pass through would be stopped.

However, Fang Yan was different. Chen Jingshan had already informed them and gave Fang Yan a certificate stamped by the epidemic prevention team this morning. So, after Fang Yan showed the certificate here, the checkpoint immediately let them through.

After passing through the checkpoint, they drove straight to Peking Union Medical College Hospital.

As the traffic smoothly merged into the city, the morning sunlight streamed through the car window, casting shimmering spots of light on the dashboard. Fang Yan felt as if this place belonged to two different worlds.

Gripping the steering wheel, I glanced at the bustling crowd on the roadside. Workers in blue overalls walked in twos and threes, and the crisp sound of bicycle bells echoed among them. No one was wearing a mask, and their faces showed the composure of going to work in the morning. You could not tell that the suburbs had just experienced a small wave of the epidemic.

He breathed a sigh of relief; it seemed the isolation and control measures were timely and prevented the epidemic from spreading into the city.

The car quickly arrived at the entrance of Xiehe Hospital, where they had already been notified and the disinfection procedures were ready.

Two medical staff members wearing white coats, masks, and rubber gloves came up to greet us, pushing a disinfection cart.

The lead nurse recognized Fang Yan and called out from a few steps away, "Director Fang, you're finally back! The hospital director instructed that you have been given full-body disinfection and your vehicle disinfected. Please come down and wait a moment."

Fang Yan got out of the car as instructed, and casually picked up the bag from the passenger seat. This was something he always carried with him, and he had to be careful with the medicine and medical instruments inside.

The medical staff worked quickly. One of them took a pre-mixed disinfectant spray and sprayed it carefully from his cuffs, the corners of his clothes to the edges of his shoes. The white mist landed on his clothes and carried a faint smell of disinfectant. The other person walked around the car and sprayed the tires, door handles and trunk, not even missing the gaps. The free-range chicken that Lao Hu had given him in the trunk was also disinfected.

"Thank you for your hard work," Fang Yan said to the staff who were waiting there to disinfect him.

"Of course! You've been on duty in the suburbs for three days, that's really tough." The nurse smiled as she packed up the sprayer, while another person pointed to a room not far away and said:
"Your family has already prepared a change of clothes for you. They are in the office over there. You can go and change."

"Okay!" Fang Yan replied.

He's still wearing the work clothes from Lao Hu's factory.

After disinfection was completed, the medical staff handed over a disinfection certificate. Fang Yan put it away, got back into the car, and slowly parked it in the designated parking space on the west side of the hospital.

He arrived at the changing area. A dark blue khaki Zhongshan suit was draped on a chair against the wall, the style he often wore. Next to it was a pair of shiny black cloth shoes, obviously a gift from his family.

He quickly changed out of his work clothes, which smelled of disinfectant, folded them neatly, and put them into his cloth bag. He had been busy in the suburbs for three days, and the clothes had been covered in medicine residue and stove ash. He needed to wash them properly when he got back.

After changing into a Zhongshan suit, Fang Yan felt much more refreshed. He then put on the white coat next to him and came out of the room again.

As I pushed open the door, the morning light slanted across the corridor, and the sound of a hospital broadcast drifted from afar.

Fang Yan then went to the inpatient department, where He Puren was making his rounds. Yuan Qingshan and Lao Fan were also there, giving him acupuncture and massage.

They weren't in the same class as the dialect group, so they didn't go to the free clinic, which actually helped them avoid the pandemic and didn't affect their work.

The only people affected and still in quarantine are Meng Jimin, Song Jianzhong, Yang Jingxiang, and Cheng Baogui, who were originally in the same class as Fang Yan.

Upon seeing Fang Yan arrive, Lao Fan and Yuan Qingshan immediately greeted him and bombarded him with questions. After all, they knew relatively little about the situation in the city and had obtained information from other people, learning that Fang Yan and his group were trapped in the epidemic area.

They told them to give the patient physical therapy first, and they would talk about it later.

Then I went to take a look at Lao Hu's wife, Huang Huijie. We didn't have close contact; we just looked through the door.

Huang Huijie was having breakfast. She was leaning against the headboard with a thin blanket over her knees. On the small table in front of her was a bowl of warm steamed egg custard and a small bowl of millet porridge. She was gently stirring it with a spoon in her hand.

Hearing the noise at the door, she looked up and saw Fang Yan in a white coat. Her eyes lit up instantly, and she paused, her hand holding the spoon pausing. She quickly put down her chopsticks and sat up straight: "When did you get back?"

"Just got back." Fang Yan waved his hand through the door frame: "Sister Huang, don't move, sit down and eat. I just finished disinfecting, so I won't go in yet. I'll just talk to you here for a bit."

"Okay, okay," Huang Huijie replied with a smile, but her gaze couldn't help but sweep behind him. "Where's Lao Hu? Didn't he come back with you?"

"Don't worry, Brother Hu is fine," Fang Yan quickly reassured him. "He just caught a chill a few days ago and his throat is a little dry. It's not scarlet fever. I gave him some Ophiopogon japonicus and Malva nut to make tea, and he's much better this morning. We've discussed it, and just to be on the safe side, we'll let him rest there for a couple more days until his voice is completely clear before he goes back to the city. That way, we won't have to go through all that trouble, and we're also worried that if he carries any dryness with him, it might affect your recovery."

It was obvious that Lao Hu didn't call his wife. He probably didn't want her to hear his hoarse voice and worry her.

So we had Fang Yan come over and talk to her.

Huang Huijie breathed a sigh of relief, her worries mostly gone, and said, "That's good, that's good... He's just so stubborn. When he gets busy, he doesn't care about his health. You have to keep an eye on him for him to listen."

Then she asked:
"Is everything at the factory going smoothly? He called me a few days ago and said the workshop needed to rush a batch of goods."

“It didn’t delay anything. Old Hu is very thoughtful and has already arranged everything. He was still standing in the yard this morning, looking very energetic.” Fang Yan added, “He specifically asked me to tell you to rest assured and take care of your pregnancy, and not to worry about anything. He also asked me to bring you some Chinese herbal chicken raised at the factory to make soup to nourish your body.”

This made Huang Huijie laugh out loud: "It's like you're still missing a chicken to eat... Okay, I know. Don't overwork yourself. You just came back from the suburbs. Go and rest for a while. Linlin is waiting for you at home."

Fang Yan waved his hand and said:
"I'm fine. You eat first. I need to go and hand over my duties with the doctor here later, and then I'll go home."

Huang Huijie readily agreed and waved her hand, signaling him to get back to work.

Fang Yan then went to see He Puren, mainly to inquire about the condition of the patients. Those still hospitalized were all in serious condition, and Fang Yan was quite worried about their condition. However, He Puren said that everything was normal. After checking the records, Fang Yan also went to make an inspection and found that everything was indeed fine.

The situation is also stable, including that of Aunt Wang Huiyuan.

Fang Yan then said goodbye to everyone and went to the ward floor of her mother's gynecology department.

They haven't started seeing patients yet; they're all making rounds in the outpatient department. My mother, as the deputy director of the department, is doing the same.

When they saw Fang Yan arrive, all the medical staff greeted him.

Fang Yan responded one by one, saying that everyone knew he had gone to the epidemic area and had only returned today.

After seeing his mother, she was relieved to find him alright and urged him to go back and check on Zhu Lin to let her know he was safe.

"Okay, Mom, I'll go back right now." Fang Yan agreed and turned to go downstairs towards home.
