Chapter 22 Bloody Punishment

Five hours later.

Flashing red and blue lights pierced through the rain, sirens sounded, and the black sedan turned smoothly, with its high beams hitting the gate of the Hokkaido Police Academy.

A group of reporters gathered next to the mobile fence. Wearing raincoats and covering their cameras with tarpaulins, they scrambled forward, trying to break through the teachers' obstruction.

The driver lowered the window and yelled at them to disperse. Unexpectedly, the group of reporters gathered around, with four or five people leaning against the window, asking questions.

“Excuse me, has there really been a shooting at your school?”

“Is this a revenge by criminal gangs against the police?”

"How many people died? Has the case been investigated?"

The first reporter who squeezed in and shouted the loudest was a woman in her twenties or thirties, wearing frameless glasses. Her magnificent breasts were lifted up by the car window, and she controlled the driver for four or five seconds.

The latter looked down and noticed the work badge sandwiched between the ravines, with the other party's name printed on it.

"Intern reporter: Momo Yazaki"

"Ms. Yazaki, please move aside and do not interfere with the police in their duties..."

The driver was interrupted before he could finish his words. “So you are the detectives from the Investigation Division? Did you just receive a report? Are you convenient for a simple interview?”

The economy is bad these days, and if you don't work hard, you won't be able to keep your job. Yazaki Momo doesn't care if it interferes with official duties. If she doesn't get an exclusive news this month, she will have to pack up and leave!
"What a joke! Get out of here!" The driver honked impatiently, his hairdo shaking: "Believe it or not, I'll arrest you for obstructing public service!"

Momo Yazaki was not afraid of this kind of detective who only knew how to speak harshly. She put the microphone to the driver's mouth and pressed her companion's head into the seat.

Just then, she heard a crisp metallic collision sound coming from the back seat.

Momo Yazaki turned her head and found that there was a middle-aged man in the back seat.

The man had a head full of white hair, which he combed back with wax, deep wrinkles on his face, and wore brown translucent sunglasses. Through the lenses, Yazaki Momo discovered that the man's left eye seemed to be blind, with only the white of the eye and no pupil.

There was another crisp click. Momo Yazaki looked down and found that the middle-aged man was holding a police gun in his hand.

"Eh?" Momo Yazaki was stunned.

The middle-aged man rolled down the window and fired three warning shots into the air, deafening the sound.

The reporters were shocked and stood there in a daze.

The middle-aged man signaled the driver to drive, but the driver hesitated and said, "But there are people ahead..."

"I told you to drive, can't you hear me?" The middle-aged man said, "I will be responsible if someone is killed."

Hearing this, the driver gritted his teeth and stepped on the accelerator, and the reporters scattered in panic. Yazaki Momo fell to the ground, her face flushed with anger, and she shouted at the taillights of the car:

"You are using violent law enforcement, right? Believe it or not, I will sue you!"

The voice reached the driver's ears. He subconsciously glanced at the rearview mirror and reminded in a low voice: "Boss, the director said that if he receives another complaint this month, he will transfer you to the patrol post..."

The middle-aged man didn't answer. He raised his head and looked at the driver through the narrow rearview mirror.

The latter's heart trembled. He slapped himself lightly and pretended to talk to himself: "My tongue suddenly feels itchy, and I say nonsense for no reason... This rain is really heavy."

The water curtain stuck to the glass, distorting the view outside the window.

Four or five minutes later, the car stopped in front of the auditorium. A yellow cordon was formed around it. Forensic officers arrived one step ahead of time and were wearing raincoats and taking photos to collect evidence.

The driver got out first and helped to hold an umbrella: "Boss, we're here..."

"You should use honorifics when you are outside."

The middle-aged man pushed open the car door. He was wearing a gray suit and stood straight.

"Yes! Chief Kazama!" The driver stood at attention and saluted.

When the forensic officers heard the name, they subconsciously raised their heads and saluted. They put down their cameras and whispered to their partners.

"Is it him? The ace of the investigation team, the police officer with the highest rate of solving cases and complaints..."

"It's him, Kazama Takusai, the head of the Investigation Division 1, who actually came in person..."

"Keep your voice down, don't call him by his name directly..."

Takusa Kazama was already used to other people's criticism. He looked up and glanced at the auditorium. He did not rush in, but stood by the road and observed the outdoor environment.

The driver held the umbrella all the time, and his arms were getting more and more sore. Seeing that the section chief was still not coming in, he wondered if the boss was standing at the door to act cool...

"Follow."

Fengjian Takusai turned around and went to the back of the auditorium. Hearing a quarrel not far away, he first glanced at the second-floor window, and then looked at the two people arguing.

The petite girl begged, "Please, I'll just take a look! Just a look, I won't ruin the scene!"

She was not wearing a raincoat or holding an umbrella, and she was soaked all over.

"I've already told you not to. This isn't the place for you to play house..." The police officer saw the two men approaching and immediately stood at attention, saluted Kazama Takusai, "Hello, Chief!"

The driver stepped forward and snapped his tongue, "Ho-la-ho-la! What's going on? Do we need the boss to teach us how to evacuate idle personnel?!"

"I'm so sorry! Let her go just like that..."

Takusa Kazama took the umbrella from the driver, walked forward slowly, and helped the girl to shield from the rain. At the same time, he said to the policeman, "It's okay, go somewhere else to guard."

"Yes!" The police officer left quickly as if he had been pardoned.

The driver thought, what about me? Boss, what should I do if you take my umbrella away? My suit can't get wet!

He bent over and followed behind Takusai Kazama, trying to stealthily use his umbrella to shelter from the rain, but the latter glared at him, so he just stood behind him and got wet in the rain.

"Are you a student at the police academy?" asked Takusai Kazama.

"...Yes." The girl said in a low voice.

"What is your name?"

"Minamoto Tamako."

"Does the deceased have any relationship with you?"

"One is my instructor, and the other... is my good friend."

"Why are you coming to the back of the auditorium? If you want to go in and check the scene, you can only go through the main entrance, right?"

"The north side of the auditorium is attached to the school wall. If an outsider broke into the school by climbing over the wall, he would definitely go downstairs through the window instead of risking jumping off the wall. So I think there should be clues in the window on the second floor, and I plan to climb up the wall to take a look..."

Takusai Kazama was a little surprised. It was only at this moment that he looked at the girl seriously.

The latter's eyes were red, probably because she had been crying... To be precise, she was still crying, and her nose was twitching slightly, but it couldn't be seen because her tears were mixed with the rain.

"Do you want to go and take a look together?" asked Takusa Kazama.

"Is that okay?" Yuan Yuzi bowed and said loudly, "Thank you very much!"

The three of them went back to the main entrance. Takusai Kazama kept a distance from Gen Tamaki all the way, but he tilted his umbrella towards Gen Tamaki, which caused half of his shoulder to get wet.

The forensic officer pushed open the heavy auditorium door, a series of creaking sounds were heard, and a strong smell of blood hit him in the face.

Yuan Yuzi widened her eyes and subconsciously took a step back.

In the center of the auditorium, two female corpses were sitting on the stage leaning against the wall. Above their heads was a solemn police badge and two glaring bloody words:
——「Heavenly Punishment」
