Chapter 128 The Unknown Story
As soon as Xia Zhi and Lu Beiting stepped out of their house, they saw a figure lying quietly on the ground not far away.

The figure was curled up in a ball, motionless.

Lu Beiting's heart tightened, and he hurriedly stepped forward to check.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be Hao Yongsheng.

His face was as pale as paper, his lips were cracked and bloodless, and his clothes were thin, messy, and covered with dust and grass clippings.

Without thinking twice, Lu Beiting lifted Hao Yongsheng onto his shoulders and strode towards the hospital.

Xia Zhi followed closely behind to the hospital.

At the same time, Chen Xiuping was carrying a basin of water out of the door when she caught a glimpse of a group of people rushing toward the infirmary.

A sense of foreboding welled up in her heart. When she looked closely, she realized that the person being surrounded by the crowd was none other than her son, Hao Yongsheng.

The basin of water in his hand fell to the ground with a "clatter," spilling water all over the floor.

Her face turned deathly pale instantly, her heart felt as if it were being gripped tightly by an invisible hand, and her breathing became rapid.

"Yongsheng, Yongsheng! How could this have happened!" Chen Xiuping cried out, staggering as she followed behind.

After taking Hao Yongsheng to the infirmary, Lu Beiting and Xia Zhi stood aside with solemn expressions.

Xia Zhi's gaze was fixed on Chen Xiuping, who was covering her face and crying bitterly to the side, and the doubts in her heart grew stronger.

She frowned slightly, a scrutinizing look in her eyes, and asked, "Chen Xiuping, are you hiding something?"

Whether for the original owner's sake or for her own, there are some things she needs to figure out.

Chen Xiuping's crying stopped abruptly. Her body stiffened slightly, and her eyes began to dart away, unable to meet Xia Zhi's gaze.

"No, no, what are you talking about?" Her voice trembled as she tried to hide her inner panic.

Seeing her forced composure, Xia Zhi became even more certain that she was hiding something.

She sighed softly, looked away, and said slowly, "Hao Yongsheng asked me some questions last night, and then he spent the whole night outside in the cold. I don't know if he'll develop any health problems later."

Chen Xiuping's face turned deathly pale in an instant, and the memory of Xia Zhi's ordeal flashed through her mind.

Xia Zhi was stunned after only a few hours of being frozen.

Hao Yongsheng has been frozen for a whole night now...

Thinking of this, her hands began to tremble involuntarily, her fingers constantly digging into the hem of her clothes, her eyes filled with helplessness and regret.

I thought my son would help share some of the burden of life when he came back, but who would have thought that something like this would happen now.

Now that her son and daughter are both in the hospital, how is she supposed to live?

After a while, Hao Yongsheng was pushed out, and Shen Hangzhi followed him out.

He took off his mask and said with a slightly relaxed expression, "It's okay, it's not winter yet, but I have a bit of a fever. We'll have to wait until I wake up to see what's going on."

Chen Xiuping nodded mechanically, then followed heavily into the ward.

She stood in the middle of the ward, looking at Hao Yongsheng and Hao Liping lying on the bed on either side of her, and a feeling of indescribable desolation welled up in her heart.

"Mom, what happened to my brother?"

Hao Liping looked at Hao Yongsheng, who was receiving an IV drip next to her, her eyes filled with worry.

My brother was fine yesterday, how did he become like this overnight?
"How would I know? I was at the hospital watching over you last night," Chen Xiuping replied vaguely, her eyes darting around.

Hao Liping propped herself up, a deep sense of powerlessness welling up inside her for the first time. They now had nowhere to stay, and she felt powerless to do anything but watch it all unfold.

"Cough, cough, cough."

Hao Yongsheng had a splitting headache. He slowly opened his eyes, his gaze filled with confusion.

He looked around and for a moment couldn't tell where he was.

"Zhizhi." His lips trembled slightly as he softly murmured that familiar name.

When Chen Xiuping heard the name he called out, she felt a pang of guilt and instinctively lowered her head, not daring to look at him.

After a few seconds, Hao Yongsheng gradually regained consciousness and realized that he was in the hospital.

He turned his head and saw Chen Xiuping beside him. His eyes instantly brightened, and he sat up abruptly, loudly questioning:

"Mom, why did you lie to me? You clearly promised me that as long as I didn't have any contact with Zhizhi, you would accept her and treat her well."

"But how did you treat her?" His voice became hoarse and desperate as he said the last sentence, as if he had used up all his strength.

"I, I, we were really good to her, oh well, it's all in the past now."
"Besides, Xia Zhi is already married, it has nothing to do with you anymore." Chen Xiuping tried to defend herself, but her voice grew softer and softer.

Hao Yongsheng endured his headache and kept shaking his head, "It's different, it's different."

If it weren't for their initial promise, he would have left with Zhizhi and worked hard to support her.

Hao Liping listened to their conversation, her mind filled with doubt. "Mom, what does brother mean?"
Didn't you tell me that my brother left because he disliked Xia Zhi?

But judging from their current conversation, it seems that this is not the case.

"Mom, how could you do this?"

Hao Yongsheng could no longer control his emotions and screamed in despair.

Do you dislike Xia Zhi?

How could he possibly hate Xia Zhi!

Chen Xiuping felt flustered and confused by their gazes. She twisted her hands together incessantly and said in a trembling voice, "I, I, how can you blame me?"
I'm just afraid you won't give up. You're my son, would I ever hurt you?

Hao Yongsheng felt a sharp pain in his chest, and his eyes were filled with pain and despair.

"Then why doesn't she remember me? Why?"

Hao Liping looked at Chen Xiuping, who was clearly flustered, with a look of confusion in her eyes.

She harbored a grudge against Xia Zhi, believing that she was the one who caused her brother to run away from home, while Xia Zhi shamelessly stayed at her house.

But now...

"Speak!" Hao Yongsheng, seeing Chen Xiuping remain silent, completely lost control of his emotions and shouted loudly.

He then began to cough violently, his vision went black, and he swayed unsteadily.

Chen Xiuping trembled at his roar. After hesitating for a long time, she finally gritted her teeth and told the truth:
"The day you left was the third year of junior high school. Xia Zhi ran away. We searched for her for half the night before we found her in a haystack by the roadside."

Later she developed a fever, and the doctor said it damaged her brain. And it cost me a lot of money.”

She spoke the last sentence in a voice so soft it was almost inaudible, but Hao Yongsheng heard it clearly.

Upon hearing this, Hao Yongsheng was struck dumb, trembling with excitement. "The third day of the Lunar New Year... it snowed so heavily on the third day... you, you all..."
