Chapter 1 Hospital
"Third brother, if you want to divide the family, then divide it. Have you asked our parents for their opinions?" said a woman at a large square table in the yard.

The man looked at his silent parents sitting at the top with a dark face, then turned to the woman and said in a low voice: "Sister-in-law, I am asking what my parents think now."

"Ask about what my parents think? Humph! Are you asking? What you said about not going to work if the family doesn't split up, and you want your job back? Are you asking?" The woman rolled her eyes and said unhappily.

The quarrel continued. A young boy at the table watched the sky gradually darken. Thinking that his elder sister had not eaten yet, he secretly took two steamed buns and went to the inner room. He walked to the bed and pushed the girl lying on the bed: "Sister, elder sister, wake up quickly."

Seeing that his elder sister did not respond, he put the steamed bread aside and put his hand on her head. Her forehead was burning hot, which made him anxious. He did not care about anything else and ran back to the yard, shouting, "Grandma and grandpa, my elder sister has a fever."

The quarrel was interrupted by this and everyone looked at the boy. The woman said first, "It's just a fever. What's the big deal?"

"Sister-in-law, you can't say that. What if Daya gets burned?" said the second daughter-in-law of the Shen family, who was sitting aside and watching the show all night.

Later, it was Shen’s grandparents who gave the antipyretic medicine to the young Shen Ergou and asked him to feed it to Daya.

After Ergou fed Daya the medicine, the quarrel outside gradually subsided and everyone returned to their own rooms. The eldest daughter-in-law of the Shen family came to the inner room to take a look. Seeing that Daya was fine, she dragged Shen Ergou back to her room.

Late at night, the moon was high in the sky, and Shen Daya woke up, sweating all over. She looked around blankly, sat up, and saw two people sleeping next to her, who seemed to be the third and fourth aunts from her second aunt's family. She wanted to get out of bed, but as soon as she moved, she felt pain in her ankle, which made her sweat. She lifted the quilt and saw that her ankle was swollen like a big steamed bun, and it seemed that the bone there was broken.

She thought to herself that she would not be like the original owner who endured everything and ended up becoming a cripple and being sold for the bride price. She would find a way to go to the hospital tomorrow.

At dawn, the roosters crowed, and the people in the house got up and went to work. Since Daya was injured, her family didn't ask her to work. Ergou came to bring food to Daya: "Big sister, get up and eat."

Daya sat up and looked at the two steamed buns in front of her. She had a bitter face and reluctantly swallowed one. After she finished eating, Ergou turned around and was about to leave. Daya stopped him, "Wait a minute, Ergou."

"What's the matter, sister?" Ergou stopped and asked.

Daya waved her hand, asking Ergou to come closer. She watched him walk in and asked softly, "Ergou, is everyone at home out?"

Ergou nodded: "Everyone is out, everyone is working in the fields. Sister, tell me what's going on, I still have to go cut grass for the pigs!"

Seeing Ergou was anxious to leave, Daya held him back and said, "Help me up and take me to my grandparents' room." Ergou looked puzzled, but he still obeyed and helped Daya into her room. Daya asked him to wait at the door. Ergou wanted to ask her what she did, but Daya stopped him and said, "Don't ask, just do it. If anything goes wrong, I'll take care of it."

Seeing Ergou standing at the door, Daya found the key in the quilt, opened the cabinet beside the bed, and found the 500 yuan and various bills hidden by her grandparents.

This is a lot of money! The original owner worked like a slave in this family and was cheated all his life, so it’s not too much to take some of it.

Shen Daya took out three hundred yuan and some food coupons from inside and put the rest back. She put the money in her pocket and shouted to the outside of the door, "Ergou, come in."

Ergou ran into the house and helped Shen Daya up from the bed. She said, "Help me to the village entrance. Let's take a bullock cart to the county hospital." "Hospital? Sister, you should go to the health center for your foot. Mom will definitely scold you if she finds out." Ergou stopped and said. Daya sneered when she heard this: "Health center? Look at how swollen my foot is. I should have gone to see a doctor yesterday. Did anyone ask me? I'll take care of everything. Let's go." Then she took out a dollar from her pocket and gave it to Ergou, "Take it. After paying the fare, the rest of the money is yours. Don't say anything when we get to the village entrance. Listen to me then."

Ergou happily took the money and helped Daya to the village entrance. They saw Grandpa Li's ox cart parked under the big locust tree. The two of them quickened their pace and came to the ox cart. After Ergou paid the money, he helped Daya get on the cart.

Soon the ox cart set off, swaying towards the commune.

"Hey, you're not going to be crippled, are you?" an educated youth in the car mocked. Seeing Shen Daya looking over, he continued, "You didn't fall while stealing, did you?" This man had a grudge against Shen Daya. When Shen Erya was caught stealing something, he stuffed the thing onto Shen Daya and falsely accused her of stealing it. The person whose things were stolen was the educated youth in front of him, Wan Anmei.

Wan Anmei hated people like Shen Daya who stole things, so she started to mock her when she saw her. Shen Daya glanced at her and said, "It's none of your business. Ugly people are always the cause of trouble!"

When the others in the car heard this, they couldn't help laughing. Wan Anmei blushed and shouted, "Who are you talking about?"

"Who cares who I say that? What are you doing? Are you asking for trouble, or do you know that you are ugly?" Shen Feifei's words successfully made Wan Anmei cry.

After swaying for an hour, the ox cart arrived at the gate of the commune. Ergou helped Daya get off the cart, and then took the bus next to it to the county town. When the two arrived at the county hospital, it was almost noon.

At the hospital, the doctor looked at Daya's swollen feet and said, "Let's take an X-ray first. Your condition is quite serious. You may need to be hospitalized after the X-ray."

Ergou helped Daya to pay for the X-ray. While waiting for the film, Daya asked Ergou to go to the hospital cafeteria to buy two buns so that the two of them could cope with it.

Looking at the film in his hand, the doctor asked them to go through the hospitalization procedures and said, "Your condition cannot be delayed. It's a good thing you came to see a doctor, otherwise you would probably be disabled for life." These words scared Ergou who was standing aside. Ergou took the money given by Daya to pay the bill.

However, Shen Daya was not surprised at all by what the doctor said. She had known for a long time that if she didn't see the doctor, she would definitely become a cripple, so the first thing she did when she woke up was to go to the hospital.

In the evening, Ergou walked into the ward with braised pork and rice from the state-owned restaurant, handed the rice and change to Daya, and looked at the braised pork in the lunch box, swallowing his saliva unconsciously. Daya divided the rice into two portions, and the two of them started eating.

While the siblings were enjoying their meal, the house was in chaos. When the Shen family returned home, they did not see Daya and Ergou, and did not think much about it. It was not until dinner time that they realized something was wrong when they saw that the two were still missing. Grandma Shen went back to her room to check her money and saw that three hundred yuan was missing. She was so angry that she fainted.

The next morning, the Shen family asked about the situation yesterday and found out that the siblings had gone to the county town. So in the afternoon, Grandma Shen and Li Guihua, the eldest sister-in-law of the Shen family, rushed to the county hospital. They asked around and finally found Shen Daya and Ergou. They walked into the ward and saw Shen Daya lying on the bed, with Ergou standing beside her.

Li Guihua howled first: "You dead girl!" Then she pounced over and was about to hit Shen Daya.

Suddenly a knife was extended in front of Li Guihua, causing her movements to freeze and she stood still.

It has nothing to do with reality, it is imaginary. (Where the brain is stored)
