Chapter 437 Whose child is he?
The mother and daughter chatted casually until late before going to sleep.

The next day, when Lu Shengsheng woke up, her mother had already prepared breakfast for her as usual.

After Lu Shengsheng finished breakfast, she took her back to the hospital.

As she was leaving, Lu's mother looked longingly at the entrance of the courtyard.

Lu Shengsheng could see that she was reluctant to part with him, and said, "Once you're feeling better, I'll let you come back and stay for a while."

Lu's mother snapped out of her reverie, a fleeting shadow of sadness crossing her eyes, but she simply smiled and nodded, "Okay."

Deep down, I know this is probably the last time I'll ever go home.

After sending her mother back to her ward to rest, Lu Shengsheng went to see the attending physician again.

The doctor's advice was to treat her conservatively, to avoid causing her unnecessary suffering, and to ensure her quality of life in the end.

Ultimately, however, it depends on the wishes of the patient and their family, so Lu Shengsheng should inform the patient as soon as possible.

Lu Shengsheng didn't say anything, she just nodded and got up to leave the office.

As I walked to the door of the ward, I saw my mother lying asleep through the glass, her eyes filled with bitterness.

I couldn't keep my sick father from leaving because I didn't have money before. Now I have a lot of money, but I still can't keep my sick mother from leaving.

"Lu Shengsheng?" A voice suddenly interrupted Lu Shengsheng's thoughts.

Lu Shengsheng concealed the sadness in her eyes, looked up at You Shiyu who was walking over, and immediately felt disgusted.

Yu Shiyu seemed oblivious to her disgust and said with a smile, "It really is you."

Lu Shengsheng asked expressionlessly, "What are you doing here?"

"Changze isn't feeling well and has been hospitalized." You Shiyu said, following her gaze to the ward. "Is a family member hospitalized? Your mother?"

"What's it to you!" Lu Shengsheng blocked her way, preventing her from looking around. "Mind your own business."

You Shiyu knew she had guessed correctly, and a smug look appeared on her face. "What could possibly happen to me? I'm just living off the children, unlike you..."

She paused, then added with a hint of gloating, "Mrs. Gu's position is in jeopardy."

"I don't even want the position of Mrs. Gu, so what's there to be proud of if you can't even get it?" Lu Shengsheng said disdainfully. "So what if you gave birth to a son? Do you think he can compare to even one ten-thousandth of Gu Ronghui's white moonlight?"

"You!" You Shiyu was so angry she felt like she was going to vomit blood.

"You've provoked the wrong person!" Lu Shengsheng kindly reminded her, "The person blocking your way has never been me."

After saying that, he went into the ward and closed the door, ignoring You Shiyu standing at the door.

Lu Shengsheng was worried that You Shiyu would come to her mother and talk nonsense, so she specifically told the caregiver that no one else was allowed to approach her mother except for herself, the doctors and nurses.

The caregiver nodded in agreement, but Lu Shengsheng was still worried, so she went to ask the nurses again. She learned that Gu Changze was hospitalized because of a cold and lung infection, and that he would probably be discharged in about a week.

At worst, I'll just be more diligent this week and try my best to keep You Shiyu away from my mother so she doesn't cause any trouble.

She had already told Zhao Xuan not to send any more notebooks recently, as she wanted to spend more time with her mother.

When Lu Shengsheng leisurely walked into the ward with breakfast in the morning, she saw Gu Ronghui and her face darkened. She subconsciously asked, "What are you doing here?"

"How can you talk like that?" Mrs. Lu said reproachfully. "Little Gu came to see me early this morning and even brought me breakfast. He's so thoughtful."

Lu Shengsheng thought to herself: He has ulterior motives? He probably does!
"Xiao Gu, don't take it to heart. She's just childish!" Lu's mother defended Lu Shengsheng. Gu Ronghui nodded: "I know, Mom. She's only a bully at home!"

Lu's mother was amused by his words, "That's right."

Lu Shengsheng put down her breakfast. "Mom, you eat first!" She paused, then looked at Gu Rong and said, "Come out."

Gu Rong nodded to Lu's mother, then turned and followed Lu Shengsheng out.

At the end of the corridor, Lu Shengsheng looked anxiously into the ward to make sure her mother hadn't come out, before angrily questioning, "Gu Ronghui, what exactly do you want?"

Gu Ronghui remained calm and said indifferently, "I know everything."

Lu Shengsheng's breath hitched; she didn't know what he meant.

“You should have told me,” Gu Ronghui said again.

"Why should I tell you?" Lu Shengsheng sneered. "What kind of relationship do we have?"

Gu Rong frowned, but refrained from arguing with her because of Lu's mother's illness. "Before the divorce, she was my mother-in-law."

"Gu Ronghui, stop pretending." Lu Shengsheng was unmoved. "We've been married for so long, and apart from accompanying me to tell her we got our marriage certificate, have you ever visited her even once? Have you ever shown her any concern? You don't think sending those worthless things makes you a filial son-in-law, do you?"

Gu Ronghui was silent for a moment, then said in a deep voice, "No matter what, you shouldn't hide her illness from me, and you definitely shouldn't go to Jin Yanchen!"

If I hadn't asked my assistant to investigate, I would never have known that she would rather beg Jin Yanchen than tell me.

"Who else should I look for if not Jin Yanchen?" Lu Shengsheng retorted, "You?"

Without giving him a chance to speak, she said firmly, "I would beg anyone else in the world, but I would never beg you!"

Gu Ronghui frowned, his deep eyes filled with coldness, and his thin lips pursed. Just as he was about to speak, the door to the ward not far away suddenly opened.

"Rong Hui..."

As soon as Cha Cha's voice rang out, Lu Shengsheng couldn't help but chuckle, "President Gu, why don't you go and take care of your son first?"

After saying that, he turned around, went into the ward, and closed the door in one swift motion.

Gu Rong turned around and saw You Shiyu walking over, her brows furrowed with impatience. "What are you doing here?"

"Changze is sick, didn't you know?" You Shiyu thought he had come to visit Changze, but when she looked at the hospital room in front of him, she immediately understood. "You've come to see Lu Shengsheng's mother?!"

There was a hint of coldness in his eyes.

Gu Rong did not answer.

You Shiyu gritted her teeth and said, "Her mother was hospitalized for several days without telling you, which is obviously because she didn't want you to know. Why did you come to see her so eagerly? Your son is also sick. Can't you show him some concern?"

“Son?” Gu Ronghui chewed on the word, his eyes noticeably cold, his lowered voice sending chills down one’s spine, “You know perfectly well whose child he is.”

You Shiyu trembled, a hint of panic and unease in his eyes, but he forced himself to say, "Dad said he's your son, so he is your son!"

"Ha!" Gu Ronghui sneered, almost ordering, "Transfer to another hospital immediately!"

You Shiyu was stunned for a moment, then reacted angrily and said, "Why should Changze be transferred to another hospital? Why won't you transfer Lu Shengsheng's mother? Gu Ronghui, don't push your luck..."

Before she could finish speaking, Gu Rong glanced up, her dark, cold eyes instantly choking her off.

Thank you DouDou and ManyuNiu for the donations. See you tomorrow!
