People in Conferred Gods: Rising from humble beginnings, I am the God of Wealth

Chapter 471 Establishing Divine Laws, Usurping the Nest!

"The day to slay the good corpse begins!"

Yang Xuan suddenly opened his eyes, and a golden light burst forth.

As trade routes spread throughout the land, the divine way flourished even more, and the fortunes of both the divine way and the trade route became increasingly abundant.

As the master of both the business and the divine paths, Yang Xuan naturally possesses the most abundant fortune.

Yang Xuan was already only a hair's breadth away from severing his benevolent corpse, and with the surge in his luck, this process was further accelerated.

On this very day, the seed of goodwill in Yang Xuanling's spiritual field cracked with a crisp 'crack', revealing its ninth and final crack.

Yang Xuan knew that this was the crucial moment to sever the good corpse. As long as he could produce a spiritual object that could contain the good corpse, his cultivation would advance further and he would become a Quasi-Saint with two corpses.

With Yang Xuan's wealth, he had no shortage of innate spiritual treasures; any one of them could be used to contain a benevolent corpse.

But he did not intend to do so. The divine path and the business path were the foundation of his enlightenment, and the spiritual object used to contain the good corpse should ideally be related to these two.

The business system was still in its infancy, and it was closely related to Yang Xuan. It is no exaggeration to say that Yang Xuan was the one who single-handedly created the business system in the prehistoric world.

Even if someone were to announce it to the world first, they could not possibly take away Yang Xuan's position as the Lord of the Merchants, nor could they possibly gain the recognition of the primordial world.

The Divine Path is different. Although the Divine Path also flourished because of Yang Xuan, it already existed and was not created by Yang Xuan.

Furthermore, with the competition between the divine and Buddhist sects for incense offerings and vows, the Buddhist sects might usurp the divine sects' incense offerings and fortune.

This isn't because Yang Xuan has paranoia; it's because this kind of thing is actually happening.

The second time Buddhism preached after changing its doctrines, it was clear that Buddhism was targeting the Shinto sect.

However, this targeting is not apparent to ordinary living beings; they are employing a method of assimilation.

Its core idea is to let all living beings in the prehistoric world know that the divine path is also a part of Buddhism, and that these gods are all incarnations of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in Buddhism.

If temples hadn't been scattered throughout the ancient world, many deities would likely have become incarnations of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in Buddhism.

If Buddhist methods continue in the long run, they will likely be effective; at the very least, they will disgust the Shintoists.

In order to stabilize the fortune of the divine path and avoid such things from happening as much as possible, it becomes very necessary to use the understanding of the divine path to support the good corpse.

As for what to use to contain the benevolent corpse, Yang Xuan had already made a decision. He had prepared extensively for this purpose and was fully prepared.

Suddenly, Yang Xuan's figure became illusory, but then began to emit golden light, merging into the sunlight and disappearing. He then reappeared in the Heavenly Court's Temple of Fate, becoming solid again.

Before him stood a towering golden statue, its incense burning for thousands of feet.

However, this incense-burning golden statue had its eyes slightly closed, its consciousness in a deep sleep, and it was unable to perform its divine duties and respond to the prayers of believers like other incense-burning golden statues.

From this perspective, this incense-burning golden statue sounds like a defective product, even inferior to a low-grade incense-burning golden statue.

At the very least, even the lowest-grade incense-burning statues have a wisp of consciousness differentiated from the original body, which can help the original body perform its divine duties and respond to the prayers of believers.

That's not actually the case. If Yang Xuan had wanted to, he could have awakened the consciousness of the incense statue many years ago.

The reason for not doing so is that there is no great need for it. The gods and immortals of the Temple of Destiny will take care of the duties of the gods and immortals, and there will be no problem even without incense and a golden statue.

Secondly, this incense-infused golden statue is the spiritual object that Yang Xuan intends to use to house the benevolent corpse, so it's better for the consciousness to be dormant.

His incense-infused golden body is the most unique existence in the primordial world, without exception.

Ordinary incense-burning golden bodies are created through cultivation using incense; currently, there are no incense-burning golden bodies at the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm.

Yang Xuan's golden body, besides being a source of incense offerings, can also gather divine fortune for his own use, and it even bears the mark of the two sages, Taiqing and Houtu.

In the beginning, Laozi accidentally dropped a Nine-Turn Golden Pill, the best quality one, which happened to fall onto this incense-burning golden body, helping it break through to the early stage of the Great Luo Golden Immortal.

At that time, Yang Xuan's true form was only a Taiyi Golden Immortal.

Later, based on the situation of the incense and golden body, Houtu deduced the Nine Revolutions Yuan Gong that matched it, which can be called the Nine Revolutions Golden Body Method, or the Nine Revolutions Yuan Gong Golden Body Version.

The reason why Yang Xuan's incense-infused golden body was able to condense divine fortune for his own use was because of this cultivation technique.

Furthermore, Houtu, through Yang Jian and the other two, mobilized part of the fortune of the Chan Sect, the Jie Sect, and the demon race, thus strengthening the fortune of the divine path.

When Yang Xuan returned from Zixiao Palace, his incense-infused golden body had broken through to the peak of the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm, and his physical body was comparable to that of a Great Witch of the same realm.

Later, the Sage Taiqing gave Yang Xuan a pill, which was specially made by the Sage Taiqing using many precious spiritual materials for the incense-golden body.

After refining it, the incense-infused golden body condensed a golden core in its dantian, further advancing its cultivation and bringing it only half a step away from becoming a quasi-saint.

As the divine fortune has continued to grow in recent years, the Incense Golden Body successfully broke through to the Quasi-Saint realm a few years ago, taking another big step forward.

Moreover, this is far from the limit. As the divine fortune further strengthens, the cultivation level of this incense-infused golden body can be further improved.

With such a foundation as incense and gold, it is absolutely no problem to use it to support a virtuous corpse.

Furthermore, as early as when Houtu made her move, this incense-infused golden statue had already become a spiritual object to suppress the divine fortune.

If he is used to contain the good corpse, not only can the fortune of the divine path be further stabilized, but Yang Xuan can also firmly sit in the position of the master of the divine path without worrying too much about the Buddhist sect usurping his place.

From any perspective, using incense and a golden statue to dismember a corpse is the best choice.

And this was also Yang Xuan's decision!

Without any hesitation, he immediately activated the Three Corpses Severing Technique and began... Severing the Corpses!
A cracked golden seed flew out from between Yang Xuan's eyebrows and hovered above the head of the incense-burning golden statue.

Auspicious wisps of pure energy emanated from these cracks, forming a cloud of auspicious light that enveloped the incense-burning golden statue.
However, it could only cover the surface and failed to integrate into it. The seed only had larger cracks, but it did not break apart.

Having learned from his previous experience of severing a corpse, Yang Xuan remained calm and continued to circulate his cultivation technique, causing the Five Virtues Golden Wheel to appear behind his head.

Strands of pure energy, moral energy, merit energy, hidden virtue energy, and holy virtue energy emanated from it, transforming into a five-colored divine sword that struck the seed of good intentions.

Followed by.

Then a crisp 'crack' was heard, and the nine cracks on the seed of good intentions widened further, intersecting with the other cracks.

Finally, with a loud 'bang,' the seed of kindness shattered like an eggshell.
A wisp of pure air flew out and merged into the auspicious cloud shaped like a human figure, making the cloud's shape even clearer.

If you look closely, you will find that this human figure formed from pure energy is exactly the same as Yang Xuan, except that it is tens of thousands of feet tall.

This is Yang Xuan's benevolent corpse!
But this is not the end. There is still one last step. If a spiritual object of equal status cannot be found, this benevolent corpse will soon disappear into the world!

Yang Xuan once again activated the method of severing the three corpses, using the incense-burning golden body as a spiritual object to carry the benevolent corpse, allowing the auspicious human-shaped clouds outside the incense-burning golden body to gradually merge into it.

Yang Xuan's incense-infused golden body already possessed an extremely high status, being a spiritual object most compatible with the divine path, and also a part of Yang Xuan himself. Naturally, no accidents could occur during this process. Almost in the blink of an eye, the humanoid auspicious cloud merged into the incense-infused golden body, becoming one with it.

At that moment, the golden statue, which had been dormant for many years, slowly opened its eyes and bowed to Yang Xuan:
"This humble Daoist, Tianxuan Zhenshen, greets fellow Daoist!"

"From now on, fellow Daoist will take charge of the affairs of the Divine Path on my behalf!"

Yang Xuan returned the greeting and nodded in satisfaction.

At that moment, a mysterious fluctuation emanated from the Temple of Fate and spread throughout the Three Realms of the Primordial World.

"This is... someone has dismembered a corpse again?!"

Sensing this familiar yet unfamiliar Daoist aura, the many powerful beings of the prehistoric world were all startled. They looked up at the sky and then... witnessed a scene that left them speechless, causing them to exclaim in unison.

"Yang Xuan? How is this possible?!"

"Damn it, if I remember correctly, didn't he just sever his evil corpse at the end of the Investiture of the Gods, when the world was evolving into the Three Realms? How many years have passed, how come he's severing his corpse again?!"

"Why do I feel like his speed of severing corpses is faster than my cultivation speed at the Taiyi Golden Immortal level? This is too unreasonable, I really can't accept it..."

"Hmm... Thinking about it carefully, it doesn't seem like something that's hard to understand. After all, the merits Yang Xuan has accumulated over the years are beyond our imagination. It's not unreasonable that his cultivation speed is a bit faster."

"But... this is too fast, how many years has it been?"

……

The powerful beings of the Primordial World watched Yang Xuan sever his benevolent corpse, and they were all unable to calm down for a long time. In particular, those quasi-saints began to doubt themselves, and their Dao hearts were affected.

Both of them were Quasi-Saints, but it took them dozens of Yuanhui (a unit of time in Chinese mythology) to break through from Great Luo Golden Immortal to Quasi-Saint.

Ninety percent of them were Quasi-Saints who had broken through to Quasi-Saint level, but even after dozens or hundreds of Yuanhui (a unit of time in Chinese mythology), their cultivation had not made any progress, and it was a long way off before they could sever their second Three Corpses.

Yang Xuan, on the other hand, has already severed his evil corpse in less than ten eons, and now he has severed his good corpse again. His cultivation has surpassed that of these seniors, and he has become a Quasi-Saint with two corpses ahead of others.

Zhen Yuanzi and his fellow Quasi-Saints with two corpses felt a mix of emotions.

When they attained enlightenment, Yang Xuan had not yet appeared in the world. Now that Yang Xuan has severed his good corpse and become a Quasi-Saint of Two Corpses, their cultivation level is still that of a Quasi-Saint of Two Corpses.

Such a contrast is truly hard to accept.

Yang Xuan didn't care what these powerful beings thought. He bowed to the sky, the earth, and the person in front of him, and said in a deep voice:

"Heaven, Earth, and Man are above all, and I am the master of the divine path. I hereby establish three hundred and sixty divine laws."

"All gods and deities should actively respond to the prayers of believers and relieve their worries; they must not turn a deaf ear!"

"All gods and spirits must not commit wanton killings, harm believers, or bring calamity to the primordial world!"

"All believers in our faith should devoutly worship, and must not blaspheme the gods or destroy temples!"

"All believers of my faith..."

Before the powerful beings of the Primordial World could recover from the shock of Yang Xuan severing his benevolent corpse and becoming a Quasi-Saint with two corpses, they heard Yang Xuan proclaim the Three Paths of Heaven, Earth, and Man, and their expressions immediately became strange.

The 360 divine laws established by Yang Xuan cover a very wide range, including laws governing all deities as well as special laws based on local conditions.

Just like the Heavenly Laws and Earthly Rules of Heaven and Earth, these divine laws place many demands on the deities, with the aim of enabling them to fulfill their divine duties, respond to believers, and serve them.

Compared to the old and new doctrines of Buddhism, the divine laws of Shinto, that is, the doctrines of Shinto, can be said to be two extremes.

No matter how Buddhist doctrines change, they always center on the Buddha and Bodhisattvas, whose status is far above that of believers.

The divine way is different. Of these divine laws, only a small portion are for believers; the rest are all divine laws used to restrain the gods.

These divine laws are naturally very favorable to believers.

With these divine laws in place, as long as one becomes a believer in the divine way and has a devout faith, one will definitely receive a response from the gods.

If there is enough incense offering, one can invite deities to possess them, enhancing their power, and in necessary circumstances, this might even save their life.

However, these divine laws are not very friendly to the gods. Just responding to the believers alone requires a lot of mental energy and time for cultivation, making it difficult to have any freedom.

Perhaps the celestial beings and the underworld gods, out of respect for Yang Xuan's prestige, will still try their best to follow these divine laws. As for other living beings, it's probably unlikely they will.

"madness!"

Shakyamuni sneered, "If the gods are restrained like this, how can they not rebel? Hmm..."

Thinking of this, Shakyamuni paused slightly, then smiled:
"This is where our Buddhist sect's opportunity lies. As long as any immortal or deity harbors rebellious thoughts, with just a little bit of guidance, they will be transformed from deity into Buddha."

"By using the divine fortune as nourishment, we can help our Buddhist sect flourish. In this way, we can settle past karmic debts. How wonderful!"

Over the years, Buddhism has been targeting Taoism, trying to usurp its power, transforming temples into Buddhist temples, and turning deities into Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

Unfortunately, most of the gods in the current divine path are members of the Heavenly Court and the Underworld, and they are loyal to Yang Xuan. The Buddhist sect has never been able to find a way to complete its plan of transforming gods into Buddhas.

But things are different now. In the past, there were no clear rules for the gods. They only needed to respond to the prayers of believers. Unlike now, there are so many divine laws that bind us.

Even if these immortals, gods, and ghosts are loyal to Yang Xuan, they would still feel dissatisfied to be subject to such constraints for the sake of incense offerings.

This is where Buddhism's opportunity lies. Buddhism excels at the methods of conversion, and as long as there is a flaw, they are confident that they can convert these deities and make them members of Buddhism.

If more such examples occur, and with a little effort from the Buddhist community, more immortals and deities will surely join the Buddhist community in the future.

Both are for the sake of incense offerings. Is there any better choice than to become a Buddha or Bodhisattva who is high above, or to become a deity who is equal to believers and needs to actively respond to their prayers?

Even though these divine laws only require the gods to respond to the prayers of believers, they do not require the gods to fulfill all the prayers of believers.

On the contrary, according to divine law, the gods should respond to the prayers and offerings of believers by providing corresponding assistance.

For some excessive demands, the gods may simply respond without providing unequal assistance.

However, as long as these divine laws remain in place, the gods will certainly have grievances, and their treatment will definitely not be comparable to that of the Buddhist community.

Shakyamuni and the high-ranking members of Buddhism all knew that this was an opportunity for Buddhism. Yang Xuan had made a terrible move. If they could seize this opportunity, they could definitely deliver a heavy blow to the Divine Path!
Buddhist disciples are by no means stupid; it's just that their stance is Buddhist and Western, which is why they make some seemingly foolish decisions.

Now that they've seen this golden opportunity, how could they possibly miss it?

In the blink of an eye, they had an idea in mind. Tathagata, Dipankara who had just awakened, and others even had preliminary ideas.

But before they could refine their ideas, Yang Xuan's voice echoed once more throughout the primordial world... (End of Chapter)
