Chapter 793, Part 3: Improved Krenchikov

Chapter 793, Section 3: The Improved Krenchikov
"You mean, in some ordinary, secret base in Arasaka, in what could be considered the outskirts of the city, nuclear weapons were stored?"

Even as he listened to Carl's account of his return from the Badlands, Oliver, sitting on the sofa, was somewhat stunned. He almost immediately looked at Johnny: "This nuclear bomb, it should be the same thing as the nuclear bomb that Johnny used, right?"

Upon hearing Oliver's words, the face projected onto Johnny Silver Hand clearly showed some data corruption, as if its face had darkened.

Karl nodded and shook his head at the same time: "To say that thing is a nuclear bomb, it is indeed a nuclear bomb, but the yield is not that big."

He explained, “According to the information I’ve reviewed, the blast radius would only cover about one block. It’s a tactical-level low-yield nuclear weapon, mainly used for striking tactical and operational targets. Judging from the storage time, it was deployed around the time of the unification war to guard against a new American invasion, and it has long been moved away.”

During the War of Unification

Jack gritted his teeth and said, "In other words, if the new America had actually dared to invade Night City back then, this thing would have been used, and it might have led to a nuclear war."

"If a new corporate war really breaks out, it wouldn't be surprising."

V, on the other hand, didn't find this strange at all. Using nuclear bombs in corporate warfare was nothing unusual. They had used countless more dangerous weapons, and nuclear bombs were practically a conventional weapon.

Considering the radiation protection gear that was practically required for every soldier during the Central American wars, and the cases of soldiers being issued substandard clothing that caused their bodies to mutate due to radiation, it's clear that this gear was already routinely used long before Johnny was even in service.

"This is really not something that people are happy to talk about."

Oliver said, looking at Carl: "So Carl, you just went and cleared out one of your strongholds and came back. I thought you were going to help Sei-nobu wipe out all the strongholds in the Badlands."

"How could that be? There are plenty of those outposts, and some well-informed people might have already destroyed the base and fled. There might be a group of people gathered right now discussing how to rescue their master from that great demon king, Sei-nobu. I just went to the nearest outpost for Sei-nobu."

Carl said, staring at the content displayed on the television screen in front of him: "Is Rosalind Miles going to stay in Night City? I thought she was quite busy and would rush back to Washington to deal with the traitors after this meeting. But it seems she plans to stay in Night City for a while longer?"

"Hansen and the Nightingale's matter is probably more important than the things in Washington that can be resolved once they return. After all, those politicians only want her dead but haven't succeeded yet. This place is truly a 'nuclear bomb' that, once it explodes, would be enough to take her political life. She might not trust anyone else with this kind of thing, so she can only handle it herself."

Jack's words made Carl think for a moment, and he nodded: "That's true. Rosalind Miles isn't the kind of person who would entrust important matters to others, especially after suffering a loss in this plane crash. Speaking of which, what do you think of Hansen's next move? Hansen doesn't have many options now, does he? Do you think he will continue to use the Lark as leverage to force Miles not to take action against him, or will he seek cooperation with Miles?"

"In my opinion, Hansen doesn't have much time to think."

T-BUG stood to the side with a cup of coffee, analyzing from his perspective as a hacker: "According to my deduction, the Lark is now being corrupted by the Black Wall and has probably reached its limit. Although Hansen has found a way to solve the Lark's problem, I can't say for sure whether Hansen really intends to give that thing to the Lark."
I suspect that Hansen is using the Lark as leverage to seek cooperation with other forces and to coerce Miles. However, if things escalate to the point where he risks his life, I have no doubt that he would immediately shoot the Lark and leave it untouched.

"Slammed into his hands?" Oliver was a little confused. "Then Miles's treasure is just gone like that. Wouldn't Miles fight him to the death? Oh, I get it."

The next second, Oliver realized that for Rosalind Myers, her political life was clearly the most important thing, and everything else was worth sacrificing.

She had previously given the order to eliminate the lark if necessary. In other words, although she had considered taking back the lark, if she couldn't reach an agreement with Hansen and the matter had reached the point where it involved her, she would rather the lark die than have it live and continue to threaten her.

In other words, if Hansen were to eliminate the lark, it would be something Rosalind Miles could barely accept. As long as the evidence wasn't in Hansen's hands, she wouldn't need to rush into action against him, and Hansen would have more time to catch his breath. The two could maintain a delicate peace, all it would take was for the lark to die.

"I think Hansen knows this too. The reason why that girl, Lark, is still alive is because Hansen also wants to squeeze every last drop of value out of her. None of these people are fools. It's just that Lark herself jumped from one cage to another."

Johnny saw the situation: "Although that blindly loyal agent still wants to save her, I think it's unlikely."

Carl nodded: "Anyway, it's none of our business now, although if something really happens to the Black Wall, it would be a big deal. By the way, I got the reward that Sei-nobu gave me. He said it was for me, but it was actually prepared for all of you. Oliver, V, you should also upgrade your cybernetic bodies."

As he spoke, Carl looked at Oliver and V.

"You mean, a new type of prosthetic body?"

Oliver understood the meaning behind Carl's words.

"Pretty much. It's a modified Krenchikov and a sword made by Arasaka. The sword was specially made for V. The modified Krenchikov is the new and improved version of the one currently used by the Terrorist Mobile Unit. The only problem is that it puts even more strain on the human body. Can you handle it?"

"The way you're saying that is like asking me if I can have an extra bottle of wine with my meal."

Oliver didn't see the improved Krenzikov as a burden at all.

Even an improved version of something that the Terrorist SWAT team can use is no problem for Oliver these days.

That once naive Sixth Street gang kid is now a member of the legendary 'KK' team.
