The stolen magic is a bit magical
Author of Chapter 651 of the Heart Sutra
"Qingying, your master... is well-versed in Buddhism and Taoism?" The Seventh Prince turned his gaze to Qingying.
His confidante, Fufeng, also turned her gaze to Qingying, showing great interest.
Qingying looked bewildered: "I...I have never seen you read Buddhist scriptures. But you always act in a methodical manner, Your Highness can simply observe."
Fu Feng glanced around slightly and said, "Your Highness, I'll take a look over there."
"it is good!"
Fu Feng left the spot.
The figure quickly disappeared into the crowd.
The next moment, her figure completely disappeared, and she inexplicably appeared in a room in the restaurant next door.
She appeared in the room, and opposite her was a woman in white.
This young lady is petite and delicate, with a pointed chin and pointed ears. Her entire being seems to exude a captivating charm that seems to drip from her adorable little ear tips.
She was none other than the Seventh Princess of Qingqiu.
"Seventh Sister! You actually came to the Desolate Capital." Fu Feng looked surprised. She had just received a telepathic message from the Seventh Princess while she was with the Seventh Prince, which was already hard to believe. Now, seeing her youngest sister in person, she was truly astonished.
The girl is already engaged and will be getting married in a little over two months.
Why isn't she at home waiting to be married, but instead wandering the world?
Don't you have any manners at all?
"Eldest sister! You have to save me. Only you in the whole world can save me. When Grandma was dying, she held your hand and told you something that you must do today. She said that Mother wasn't a reliable person, and that only you, eldest sister, could be depended on in the whole of Qingqiu. Now it seems that Grandma was the wisest. She knew everything..." The Seventh Princess grabbed Fufeng's hand and began with a long speech, starting from her deceased grandmother...
Fu Feng felt a sharp pain in his teeth and finally interrupted, "Get to the point!"
"Eldest sister, my life is so hard, I can't live anymore, really..." The Seventh Princess, with tears in her eyes, wiped her eyes with her eldest sister's sleeve and finally got to the point: "I met my soulmate in the martial world, he is my destined one, he is my brother Su, he loves me, and I love him too, this is what eldest sister always says is mutual affection, but those old fogies in the clan broke us up, they wanted to sell me to the Li family in exchange for the support of Xin Ge, that's how the marriage happened three months later."
"I understand! You have someone you like, and this Lord Li is not the one you prefer!" Fu Feng said, having sorted things out.
"Yes, didn't my eldest sister say that the human heart is small and can only hold one person? I'm not like my third sister, who shamelessly pretends to be over eighty. I really can only hold one person!"
"So what? Just say so..." Fu Feng couldn't take it anymore. This girl knew she and Lao San weren't on good terms, and whenever she mentioned Lao San, she would always add "shameless" to the name. This was playing to her liking. As the saying goes, "If someone is being overly helpful, they must have ulterior motives." I'm too lazy to argue with you anymore. Just tell me what you're after...
"So, big sister, you have to kill him!"
This is easy!
Simple and straightforward!
Kill Li Chengnian!
This is how the Seventh Princess cut off the source of the problem.
"Kill him?" Fu Feng's eyes widened.
"Yes, that shameless Third Sister has completely chosen the wrong side, but her reminder to me is also correct. If this Uncle Li doesn't die, even if I escape to the ends of the earth, the clansmen will catch me and send me to his broken bed. The only way now is to cut off his supply line and kill him!" The Seventh Princess said, "It's not easy for others to kill him, but it's too easy for you, Eldest Sister. You live next door to him. Once you use your Heavenly Fox Needle, it's invisible and intangible, and no one can find out."
“This…” The eldest sister slowly shook her head: “No! Absolutely not! His Highness values him highly; he is His Highness’s right-hand man. It’s so rare for His Highness to have such a good assistant; how could I possibly ruin his plans?”
"What's there to value? This guy's a real liar! He's more trouble than he's worth. If Your Highness tries to rely on him, you're doomed. You'll definitely end up a widow, sister..."
Fu Feng had a sour expression on her face, but suddenly her eyes lit up.
Because she saw what was happening below.
Lin Xiaosu walked through the street, very politely, but his steps never stopped, gradually becoming an oddity in the crowd. While everyone else stood still, he walked step by step toward the three high monks.
"What is this bastard doing?" The Seventh Princess also saw it.
"Discussing Buddhism with a high-ranking monk?" Fufeng murmured.
"On Buddhism? He knows nothing about Buddhism! He's just showing off. You see, elder sister? How could someone like that, with no guile whatsoever, possibly become His Highness's ally?"
This statement, by setting aside the ubiquitous subjective manipulation, actually appears somewhat objective.
Fu Feng also had the same feeling: this brother-in-law on paper really had no depth. What kind of occasion was this?
You actually dared to get closer to them.
Everyone in the capital knows that Li Chengnian loves to show off and flaunts his knowledge of poetry and literature everywhere. However, if you try to show off your knowledge in this kind of setting, you're just being an idiot!
Meanwhile, inside the Zhen Tian Pavilion, Pavilion Master Lei Tianlun stared at this side with a livid face. In front of him were two groups of people, one group of Confucian scholars and the other group of monks.
The Confucian scholar, strutting about with an air of superiority and pride, spouted classical Chinese phrases...
"Where is Zhentian Pavilion? It is the place where the imperial dynasty suppresses all the various factions! Why did these three monks choose to hold the execution ground outside Zhentian Pavilion instead of the vast capital city?"
"This is an act of discrediting our Zhen Tian! How can we tolerate this? Let us use Confucian classics to teach them what is unacceptable!"
"Wait! The other side is using Buddhism and Taoism. If we want to suppress them, we must also use Buddhism and Taoism! Otherwise, they will definitely not submit, and the people of the capital will definitely say that our Zhen Tian Pavilion cannot suppress the various sects..."
"If the enemy bullies me at my door, I must respond. This is a challenge; how can I be bound by conventional rules?"
For a moment, the Confucian scholars argued heatedly, their faces flushed. This was typical of Confucian scholars; when it came to a topic, even a dead toad would argue until it pissed off…
The three Buddhist elders in front of him had faces that alternated between red and green.
Zhentian Pavilion also has a Buddhist hall. When monks come to discuss the Dao, they can make the other party question the meaning of life. However, it depends on who it is.
These three are known to everyone in the Buddhist community.
Abbot Xuanfeng of Cangyun Temple, Abbot Zhiding of Dajue Temple, and Abbot Miaoyu of Luohua Nunnery.
These are three large Buddha statues from the Buddhist temple.
In terms of seniority, he is above them.
In terms of cultivation, they can never catch up in this lifetime.
In terms of Buddhist and Taoist attainments, they are far inferior.
How do I argue with them?
As soon as they leave Zhentian Pavilion and arrive at the scene, they must first pay a junior's respect to the other party, and then they will most likely become so engrossed in the Buddhist and Taoist atmosphere created by the other party that they cannot extricate themselves.
Just then, a young official came to the middle of the three masters, looked up and smiled: "The three masters are in high spirits. It is a discussion of Buddhism in the capital. I also have some knowledge of Buddhism and Taoism. Why don't I join in the discussion?"
His voice wasn't loud, but it carried the weight of the entire room.
Everyone in the room was suddenly startled.
How dare someone dressed in the robes of a fourth-rank official discuss Buddhism?
what happened?
Fu Feng and the Seventh Princess exchanged bewildered glances: "Really?"
Meanwhile, inside the Zhen Tian Pavilion...
The master of Zhentian Pavilion, Lei Zhentian, frowned deeply: "His Majesty's imperial edict has just been issued. Li Chengnian, a fourth-rank inspector, intends to go to Jiangnan to confront the eighty-one sects in Jiangnan. Luohua Nunnery is one of the eighty-one sects among these three sects. Could it be that his suppression of the eighty-one sects involves Buddhist teachings?"
His Majesty's imperial edict has already reached the Zhen Tian Pavilion.
Because Zhentian Pavilion was the helper he specifically needed, and His Majesty had already issued an edict requiring Zhentian Pavilion to fully cooperate.
The three high monks slightly opened their eyelids, but none of them paid him any attention.
Even though they had already made it clear that they were going to teach the royal family a lesson, they naturally no longer needed to be polite to the royal family.
Even if His Majesty himself were to attend, it would probably not be able to stop this Buddhist ceremony.
Besides, this young official whom they utterly despised?
Yes, as a high-ranking Buddhist monk, he rarely despises worldly people, but Lin Xiaosu just so happens to be right on their weakest point.
Given his actions, the fact that the three eminent monks could refrain from killing him with their own hands already demonstrates their mastery of Buddhism and their peaceful state of mind.
Lin Xiaosu didn't dawdle and sat cross-legged.
Recite the scriptures aloud!
"When Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva was practicing the profound Prajnaparamita, he perceived that the five aggregates are empty, and thus transcended all suffering and distress."
Shariputra, form is not different from emptiness, emptiness is not different from form; form is emptiness, emptiness is form. The same is true of feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness…
In just over sixty words, the tone shifted from light to heavy...
It seems that the Buddha was making his way out of the temple, step by step, and his figure slowly appeared in the vast world.
Every word carries the profound mysteries of Buddhism and Taoism; every word is as heavy as Mount Tai; every word carries great transcendence; every word embodies the wisdom and brilliance of Buddhism and Taoism accumulated over thousands of years…
The chanting of the three eminent monks continued unabated, and Lin Xiaosu's chanting remained gentle. However, to the general public, the scene appeared entirely different.
If you close your eyes and listen, the chanting of the three eminent monks and the Buddhist and Taoist towers they built creak as if they were suddenly crushed by the Buddhist and Taoist forces. Lin Xiaosu's chanting grew louder and louder. When she reached the last word of the sixty-three characters, there was no other sound in the world except for the pure and profound sound of the Heart Sutra.
The Heart Sutra is the foremost of all Buddhist scriptures!
It first appeared in this world, and the moment it entered the Heavenly Dao Disk, it found its place.
This has nothing to do with their cultivation level; it's purely due to the weight of the scriptures themselves.
The thousands of believers in the arena were greatly shaken. Feeling the Buddhist and Taoist power emanating from the scriptures, they all turned towards Lin Xiaosu. As they turned, the three towers built by the three eminent monks using the great power of Buddhism and Taoism suddenly stopped growing.
Beneath Lin Xiaosu's feet, layers of Buddha's light appeared, and a pagoda base materialized out of thin air.
"Buddhist sects are vying for the same path!" The Seventh Prince's eyes widened in disbelief.
Beside him, Qingying's mouth was half open, even more incredulous.
In Zhen Tian Pavilion, several old monks, their faces flushed, asked, "Amitabha! This scripture is so profound, surpassing all others, what scripture is it?"
“This old monk has never heard of it before… What scripture is it? This scripture must be a Buddhist treasure!” said another old monk.
Not only were they completely unfamiliar with it, but the three eminent monks present felt it ten or even a hundred times more deeply. They suddenly realized that the scriptures they recited were crude and vulgar, and in terms of refinement and profundity, they were far inferior to this Heart Sutra.
What do they do in this situation?
"Amitabha! Go all out! We must not let the Buddhist altar beneath our feet collapse!" came a faint voice from Abbess Miaoyu.
The three Buddhist masters, drawing upon their profound Buddhist knowledge, solemnly recited their respective scriptures.
However, Lin Xiaosu's interpretation of the Heart Sutra flowed like a vast ocean, reaching an even more profound realm...
"Therefore, in emptiness there is no form, no sensation, perception, volition, or consciousness; no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, or mind; no form, sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharma; no eye-consciousness, and so forth, up to no mind-consciousness. There is no ignorance, nor is there the cessation of ignorance, and so forth, up to no old age and death, nor is there the cessation of old age and death. There is no suffering, no origination, no cessation, no path. There is no wisdom, nor is there attainment. Because there is nothing to be attained..."
boom!
The three eminent monks felt as if they were experiencing a storm.
The torrent of Buddhist and Taoist teachings surged down, and the chanting of the three monks was once again ignored.
The three monks' expressions changed drastically. They focused their minds on their spiritual altars, resisting the all-pervasive pressure from Buddhism and Taoism.
However, this resistance further shook their Buddhist and Taoist beliefs, and their minds began to show signs of inner demons invading them. The three monks were greatly shocked and dared not refuse any longer. They had no choice but to accept the initiation of the Buddhist Heart Sutra.
After this infusion, they suddenly felt that every word of the scripture seemed to carry a magical power, that every word was the answer they had pondered before the Buddha for thousands of years, and that every moment held the possibility of sudden enlightenment.
"Amitabha!" The four words of Buddhist chanting from Zhi Ding reached the ears of the other two: "This reasoning cannot be accepted!"
This is the profound mystery when discussing Buddhism.
When eminent monks discuss Buddhism, they can draw the entire audience of believers into their Buddhist world; the key to opening that door is acceptance.
Today, Lin Xiaosu, an outsider to Buddhism, is reciting Buddhist scriptures. If he were to bring these three eminent monks into his practice, what would that make him? In a sense, the three eminent monks would become his followers!
What's the point of discussing Buddha then?
The three eminent monks were all exceptionally knowledgeable and deeply understood the principles. They concentrated their minds and spiritual centers, using their own Buddhist and Taoist attainments to confront this extremely profound Buddhist Heart Sutra.
However, this confrontation has led them into another trap.
The Buddhist Heart Sutra possesses such power because it is recognized by the Way of Heaven.
If you resist integrating, you are going against the will of heaven.
They were suddenly completely on the defensive...
The lotus platform beneath her feet dissolved layer by layer, rising higher and higher with each step.
"Therefore, know that the Prajnaparamita is the great divine mantra, the great bright mantra, the supreme mantra, the unequaled mantra, capable of removing all suffering, truly and without falsehood. Therefore, the Prajnaparamita mantra is spoken..."
boom!
The illusory lotus image in the lake created by Master Xuanfeng is now shattered!
puff!
The lotus-shaped incarnate Buddha created by Master Miaoyu is riddled with cracks.
Chi!
The lotus phantom created by Master Zhiding in the void was extinguished immediately.
“Then recite the mantra: Gate Gate, Paragate, Parasamgate, Bodhi Svaha!”
The Heart Sutra ends here.
The three eminent monks were covered in chaotic Buddhist light. The Buddhist platform beneath their feet was riddled with holes. They managed to stabilize it with their thousand years of cultivation, but they could only submit to Lin Xiaosu.
As the Heart Sutra was completed, the lotus platform beneath Lin Xiaosu's feet was layered upon layered, forming a nine-tiered lotus platform.
He sat high on a lotus throne, with the three eminent monks seemingly prostrate at his feet.
Meanwhile, tens of thousands of believers in the arena had all turned to face him and prostrated themselves at his feet.
If you ask these believers when they turned to Buddhism, they certainly won't be able to answer, because they themselves are completely unaware of it; this is the guidance of Buddhism and Taoism.
Master Zhiding slowly opened his eyes, his gaze filled with resentment.
Master Xuanfeng softly chanted the Buddha's name: "Amitabha, Lord Li, what is the name of this sutra?"
"The Heart Sutra!"
“Where does the Buddhist Heart Sutra come from? You…” Master Zhiding uttered seven words, then his voice suddenly stopped.
Because a sudden change occurred on Lin Xiaosu's lotus platform.
The nine lotus flowers transformed into nine pages of gold paper, upon which lay the Heart Sutra he had just recited.
As soon as the scriptures were read, they flew like golden geese soaring through the sky, their golden pages rustling across the capital.
These were compiled into a book, titled "The Heart Sutra"!
Once the Heart Sutra was completed, its radiant light shone for thousands of miles, and the air was filled with the sounds of chanting, bringing peace and joy.
The old monk from Zhentian Pavilion suddenly stepped to the window, ripped off the curtain, and stared blankly at the sky.
"Buddhist scribes, can turn a single scripture into a treasure?"
Lei Zhentian's expression also changed abruptly.
As the master of Zhentian Pavilion, he was well-versed in all the ways of the world, so he naturally knew what Buddhist scriptures were.
The so-called Buddhist scriptures are original works!
Generally, when eminent monks chant scriptures, they are reciting existing texts. No matter how thoroughly you explain Buddhist principles, it is still just chanting scriptures.
And writing scriptures...
This scripture does not exist under the Heavenly Dao of this realm.
Only when you leave behind great Buddhist and Taoist works will Heaven turn the pages for you, Heaven name you, and Heaven bestow upon you the extraordinary phenomenon of Buddha's light shining for thousands of miles.
This Lord Li, who debated scriptures with three great Buddhist masters, seemed to be overestimating himself. However, in the end, he personally wrote the scriptures and used the great power of Buddhism and Taoism to forcefully crush the three eminent monks.
boom!
The pagoda beneath the three eminent monks collapsed with a crash.
The three eminent monks stood in the void with their profound cultivation, yet they no longer had any Buddhist or Taoist foundation beneath their feet.
Lin Xiaosu stood on the Buddhist altar, holding a seemingly real yet unreal copy of the Heart Sutra, looking down at them: "Three masters, Buddhism and Taoism are meant to help the world and follow the will of Heaven. Buddhism and Taoism should not be used as tools by villains, nor should they go against the will of Heaven and Earth. The Great Wilderness Capital is not a place for the three of you to act recklessly in the name of Buddhism. You should each return to your own sects and study the essential teachings of Buddhism for a thousand years!"
After hearing this long passage, the three eminent monks suddenly realized that their Buddhist hearts were riddled with holes.
When it comes to Buddhism, they are utterly defeated!
They were not defeated by Buddhist or Taoist masters, but by this young man who wasn't even a Buddhist disciple.
The last paragraph was spoken in a relatively polite manner, but who could not hear the deep contempt in his words?
He made it clear to the three that their Buddhist teachings were worthless, that they were not worthy of discussing Buddhism in the desolate capital, and that they should go back to their hometowns and cultivate for another thousand years.
How insulting are these words?
But they still have that qualification!
Because he single-handedly and overwhelmingly defeated the three major Buddhist sects, leaving them no chance to retaliate...
They are giants of Buddhism and Taoism, and even more so, the leaders of their respective sects. Their dignity, their reputation, and their fame accumulated over thousands of years are shattered at this moment. What face do they have left to enter the desolate capital again?
"Amitabha!"
Three recitations of the Buddha's name!
Three figures shot through the air!
The three eminent monks departed in desolation!
Lin Xiaosu smiled faintly, and the lotus platform beneath her feet transformed into a giant lotus flower, carrying her down from the sky.
He walked step by step toward the lakeside.
Each step was a golden lotus, which grew fainter and fainter until, with the last step near the Seventh Prince, all the Buddhist and Taoist phenomena completely disappeared.
The scripture in his hand also disappeared, turning into a Bodhi seed.
Above the Bodhi tree, there are characters as fine as gossamer threads, which is the full text of the Heart Sutra.
The fact that this Heart Sutra Bodhi seed entered the secret realm also signifies that Lin Xiaosu has transformed from a profound and unfathomable author of the sutra back into a fourth-rank official in the capital.
"Lord Li, I really find it hard to believe that you are also well-versed in Buddhism?" The Seventh Prince suddenly reached out and grabbed his shoulder.
"Miscellaneous studies, just miscellaneous studies!" Lin Xiaosu said, "Your Highness, I have already arrived outside the Zhen Tian Pavilion. Today I will enter the Zhen Tian Pavilion to make some preparations."
"Do you need me to accompany you?" the Seventh Prince asked.
"No need!" Lin Xiaosu reached out and grabbed Qingying, then stepped into the air and shot towards Zhentian Pavilion.
The seventh prince stared blankly at his retreating figure.
Meanwhile, in the room of the restaurant next door, the Seventh Princess was staring blankly at the sky, her hand on her forehead, her mouth half-open.
A long gasp came from her older sister beside her, accompanied by a sigh: "Seventh Sister, have we all misjudged him?"
The Seventh Princess seemed to wake from a dream, and her gaze turned over.
"Seventh Sister, you just said that he likes to pretend, and that may be true. However, this pretense may not be about pretending to be capable when you don't have the ability. Perhaps he actually has ten percent of the ability, but he pretends to only have ten percent!"
"I don't care! I won't listen!" The Seventh Princess raised her hands to grab her ears and shook her head violently: "Anyway, I just love my Brother Su."
"Your Su brother can resolve court disputes with ease? Can he wipe out an entire sect with a flick of his wrist? Can he handwrite the Heart Sutra and become famous for all time?"
The seventh princess looked at her innocently: "My Su brother is handsome!"
"Good-looking? Can good-looking food put food on the table?"
Yes! You can!
“You…” This gentle and refined eldest sister, this unconventional and outstanding young lady, this Qingqiu eldest sister who had been nurtured in the royal palace into a well-bred young lady, was almost so angry at this seventh sister that she vomited blood.
"Big sister, you should hurry up and kill him! Grandma said that before she died..."
"Stop!" Fu Feng abruptly raised her hand, stopping her endless harassment of her deceased grandmother, and took a deep breath: "Seventh Sister, can't we be reasonable?"
"Row!"
"Don't even think about killing him right now! I can't let Your Highness miss out on such a prodigy because of you," Fu Feng said.
"Elder sister, you have your prince, but I can't have my Su brother? You can't be so selfish. Before Grandma died..."
"Stop!" Fu Feng called out urgently, then took another breath: "How about this... You stay here with me for the time being, and you observe him for two months. If he really isn't worth marrying, I promise... I promise to send you out of the Great Wilderness before your wedding, and you can go to the Ancient Gate to find your Su brother."
"Big sister! I like you so much! In the whole of Qingqiu, I only like you. You deserve to be liked by everyone. No wonder your prince treats you like a treasure..." The Seventh Princess hugged her tightly.
"I know, I know. You just like whoever can help you find a lover." Fu Feng patted her shoulder: "When you go to the Prince's mansion, don't reveal your identity. His Highness doesn't know I'm from Qingqiu yet."
"Don't worry, you're helping me out, so I definitely won't ruin your plans. I'm not some shameless third sister..."
The two sisters reached a consensus.
Lin Xiaosu could never have imagined, nor could anyone in the Li family have imagined, that they would have an extra person monitoring them.
This person is the nominal wife of the Li family.
The Seventh Princess of Qingqiu.
Of course, no one could have imagined that this seventh princess was not thinking about marrying into the Li family, but about killing the head of the family.
Her only goal was to create conditions for her to have an affair with her Su brother.
Of course, the Seventh Princess of Qingqiu could never have imagined that the person she wanted to kill, the person she considered an obstacle, was actually her beloved "Brother Su".
That's just how amazing life is...
The person involved has already passed away.
The ripples left behind are still lingering.
Pedestrians on the street remembered the official's moment of eternal glory.
Three ancient temples in the city have inscribed the entire Heart Sutra using Buddhist supernatural powers. Once people comprehend it, they all enter a state of deep meditation.
Deep within the palace, a smile finally appeared on His Majesty's extremely solemn face.
"Your Majesty, has this Lord Li surprised you once again?" Minister of Justice Song Lifu asked in a relaxed tone.
This was perhaps the most relaxed moment he had in years.
His Majesty smiled: "This Minister Li certainly keeps surprising me. Minister Song, do you foresee that his trip to Jiangnan will bring me some more surprises?"
Song Lifu pondered for a moment: "In my opinion, it depends on what Your Majesty expects of him. If you only expect him to quell these demons and monsters in the martial arts world, I believe Lord Li will not disappoint Your Majesty. But if you expect him to pacify Jiangnan..."
He did not continue.
His Majesty slowly shook his head: "It is absolutely impossible to pacify Jiangnan. If we can truly subdue eight or ten of the eighty-one sects in Jiangnan, that would be my pleasant surprise."
I don't expect to settle Jiangnan here. I only hope to divide and turn eight or ten of the eighty-one sects against each other.
This is His Majesty's expectation.
That's all he dared to hope for. (End of Chapter)
