Chapter 332 Slaad

"The surveillance protocol was destroyed." The girl's voice was as hoarse as sandpaper. "A halfling thief did this last week, and he was later completely destroyed by the golem army that followed."

"Who are you?" Nemesis asked with a frown. It was indeed a sealing spell set by the gods. There were actually intelligent creatures in the generated world.

"My name is Emma Morningstar." Nemesis noticed that her palms had calluses from long-term holding of swords, but she wore a scholar's ring on the middle finger of her right hand. "Like you, I was brought to this hell by the damn purple dice."

"Three years ago, I came here suddenly when I was organizing my graduation thesis in the library." Emma drew runes on the ground with the tip of the dagger. The pattern was exactly the same as the warning sign on the Nemesis system interface.

"You saw this too, right? The voice that calls itself the game system." Emma asked.

Nemesis nodded slightly.

Emma stood up and clapped her hands. "What profession did you choose? After killing that robot, you should be promoted now, right?"

"Level 2 Mage, what about you?" asked Namisi.

"Level 5 Swordsinger."

Nemesis glanced at his panel, and the experience points had gone from 0/5 to 0/15. Killing a robot like the one just now would earn him five experience points, but the other party had been here for three years and was only a level 5 swordsinger? He didn't believe it.

He looked at Emma's legs. Her cropped pants revealed a section of her fair calves, but what was out of place with the surroundings was that those legs were not in pixel style, but in a delicate real-world style.

"Your legs?" Nemesis asked doubtfully.

Emma looked around and whispered, “Follow me first, I’ll tell you later.”

Nemesis narrowed his eyes, as if to determine whether the person in front of him was trustworthy. Emma also knew how scarce trust was in this cruel world, so she did not urge him, but just quietly waited for him to make a decision.

"Let's go."

Nemesis finally decided to go with the other party to take a look.

The two of them walked around the goddess statue and took a small path to an abandoned building. Nemesis saw a tattered sign at the entrance of the building with the words "City Hall" written on it.

Emma walked into the town hall with ease and came to a dilapidated iron door. The woman drew some runes on the door lock with the tip of her sword, and the rusty hinges made a crisp sound like wind chimes.

When the warm candlelight seeped through the crack in the door, Nemesis noticed that she was wearing a strange earring on her left ear - the micro hourglass flowing with sand was not jumping binary numbers.

"Happy 1095th sunrise." She said to the empty room. The phonograph in the corner suddenly started to turn automatically, playing the distorted melody of "Für Alice".

This shelter, converted from an archive room, seemed to have existed for a long time. A yellowed Grey Eagle world map was nailed to the wall. The oak bookshelves were filled with glass jars labeled "Sample No. 3" and "Abnormal Data Body", which contained still-wriggling pixel tissues.

The most eye-catching thing is the bronze planetarium in the center, which is now projecting a holographic image: countless green data streams entangled with a skull-shaped nebula.

"Emma Morningstar, swordsinger and unlucky Oxford University programming master." She flicked her finger to light the firefly lantern on the wall. "Drink this, it will help you get rid of data assimilation symptoms."

When Namicis received the medicine bottle, he sniffed it and smelled a foul odor. He took the dark green liquid hesitantly and was surprised to find that it smelled like mint mixed with rust. His feet also felt strange.

He took off his shoes and found that his toes had returned to normal.

"What is this?" Nemesis asked curiously.

"This is made with the slime of data slugs. It's disgusting but effective," Emma explained. A thunderous vibration suddenly came from the ground, and the Skull Nebula projected by the astrolabe began to ooze blood. Emma instantly entered combat mode, and the inscriptions on the rapier lit up one by one.

"The data tide has come early." She threw a crystal-bound dagger to Nemesis, "Hurry up and memorize the escape route, rookie. Follow my sword light later--"

Before he finished speaking, the entire east wall collapsed. Through the flying dust, he saw the street above collapsing into a pixelated abyss, and countless scarlet eyeballs were opening in the depths of the void.

Emma's sword light split a crack in the data storm.

They ran on the collapsing asphalt, the paving stones breaking down into a binary waterfall of 0s and 1s as they fell. Behind them came a viscous swallowing sound, some giant creature devouring the data stream.

Don't look back - this is Emma's warning to Nemesis.

"Turn left! Cover your mouth and nose with tinfoil!" She suddenly pushed Nemesis into the corner cafe. The mannequin in the window was repeating the smile-crying expression cycle at 24 frames per second, and the coffee cup on the bar was constantly reorganizing chemical formulas.

A shadow like a hill passed by the glass curtain wall, and a neon sign passed over its skin, a red color between magma and blood. When it passed by for the third time, Nemesis finally saw the whole picture: a tadpole-like creature as big as a double-decker bus, its skin covered with hexagonal data cells, and prime numbers surging in each bloody mouth.

"Digitalized Slaad." Emma's face turned gloomy.

The huge monster spewed out a torrent of acid from its mouth. Emma's rapier cut through the pixelated acid rain curtain, and the yellow-green slime corroded the asphalt road into a honeycomb mosaic.

Nemesis held the burning oak staff in his hand, and in his retina he saw the casting trajectory of [Fire Arrow] simulated by the system.

The flaming arrow hit the Slaad, and the monster let out a cry of pain, with large pieces of tadpole parts jumping out of its body.

"The third grid from the left!" the swordsinger shouted. Three glowing "magic missiles" shot out from the tip of Nemesis' staff, and the red pixel balls accurately hit the young Slaad that was trying to sneak attack. The monster exploded into a pile of green fragments, but reassembled into smaller individuals before landing.

"How many spell slots do you have left?" Emma asked loudly.

Nemesis fired another magic missile, killing three young slaads, and said with a smile, "That's enough."

Emma's mithril boots made a scale-like electronic sound between the buildings, and the blade drew a silver light track. The main slaad suddenly swelled up a lot, and the acid glands agitated to emit a dangerous red light - this was the precursor to "acid spitting".

"Keep suppressing!" She spun around and threw out her sword-dancing shield. The pixelated force field wall collided with the acid to produce violet noise. Nemesis immediately chanted the spell of "Magic Missile". A series of light bullets exploded in the monster's mouth, forcibly interrupting its charging action.

By the time the slaadi had spawned their eighth batch of young, Nemesis's robes were soaked with cubes of sweat.

Emma's sword dance entered cooldown, and she thrust her rapier into the ground, triggering a "thunder wave". The group of monsters that were repelled happened to fall into the range of the "burning hands" that Nemesis had predicted.

"Now!" He activated the spell slot and seamlessly connected the second burning hand. The flame pixels exploded into a red and white Super Mario water pipe flame. The over-divided Slaad larva melted into a raw data stream in the flames, and the main body showed a core crack.

The final moment came with a high-frequency sword sound like chip music. When the main slaad fell into stiffness due to excessive division, Nemesis released a ball of [Grease] under the feet of the slaad.

Emma seized the opportunity and chanted the spell loudly, releasing her only third-level spell slot.

【Fireball】!
"boom!!"

The earth-shattering explosion engulfed everything within a twenty-meter radius of the Slaad. Under the effect of the Grease Magic, the raging flames burned even more fiercely.
