Chapter 32: Psychic Tower and Sub-Artifact

Chapter 32: Psychic Tower and Sub-Artifact

Led by Saurfang, Nemesis and Segna went to the Psychic Tower in the center of the city.

This was once a building left by the mind flayers to control the city. The tall psychic tower could release psychic power several times stronger under the control of the mind flayers, but now it has been occupied by Saurfang.

Sgena transformed into a human form, but Nemesis, as a poor young dragon, could only squeeze into the tower in dragon form. Fortunately, the Psychic Tower was designed to be extremely large, and Nemesis's dragon body was small enough.

The huge psychic tower has a total of six floors, each floor is more than ten meters high. Nemesis was surprised to find that after losing the control of the Mind Flayer, there were still psychic fluctuations here.

Although it was very faint, he could indeed feel it.

It’s just that this psychic energy feels a bit strange and evil.

"Welcome, powerful Tide of Corruption, is this the companion you brought with you?" A gray dwarf in silver armor walked up to Saurfang and said to them.

"Cunning Gord, as you can see, I have brought a powerful ally - the White Mystery, a scroll dragon!"

The gray dwarf was surprised for a moment. Unlike those narrow-minded country bumpkins, he knew about the dragon species called the Tome Dragon.

It’s just that this person looks a little different from the one he knew.

Nemesis nodded proudly. This gray dwarf also emitted a wave of psychic energy from his body, but it was not very strong.

A 9th-level psion.

“I didn’t expect that there would be someone among the gray dwarves who is good at the way of the mind.” Nemesis looked at him and said.

There was a gleam of fluctuation in Gord's eyes. He had already felt the huge spiritual pressure from the other party. He didn't know where this mysterious scroll dragon appeared from, but he was sure that the other party's strength was definitely not just at the level of a young dragon.

So he smiled and said with a hint of intimacy, "You probably don't know the powerful secret of White. Over the past few decades, the Gray Dwarves have evolved into a large number of individuals with psychic powers due to being controlled by the group of octopus faces for a long time."

"I believe that in a few decades, we gray dwarves will become a true psychic race." Gold said confidently.

Nemesis nodded perfunctorily. He was not interested in the current situation and future of the gray dwarves. If it weren't for the fact that Gord was a stronger psychic than him, he wouldn't even be interested in paying attention to him.

In the entire city, the only person who made him feel threatened was Saurfang.

But that was all. As he possessed all the powers of teleportation, he would be able to be killed by Saurfang unless he was ambushed by him without knowing it.

He also has no ability to kill himself.

Signa interrupted, "Okay, let's stop talking about these irrelevant things. What's the situation outside the city like during the few days I was away?"

Gord and Saurfang exchanged a glance, and then Saurfang said grimly: "Those black guys haven't launched another attack since they withdrew. I'm afraid they are waiting for reinforcements."

"Only three of the six middle-ring spellcasters of the DeFeo family have been dispatched. Maybe they are mobilizing those spellcasters over." Gold guessed.

"No," Segna shook her head and said, "You don't understand. My spies in Menzoberranzan told me that the Deaver family has been in a lot of trouble in the city recently. Madam Banrui of the First Family seems to have some opinions about them."

"It is highly unlikely that they will send any more direct descendants. Some time ago, the fourth young lady of their family led her private army to sneak across the Twilight Sea, and there has been no news since then."

After hearing this, Gord thought for a while and said, "That probably means more mercenaries and slave armies."

Nemesis, who had been silent, suddenly spoke up: "What if they are not waiting for reinforcements?" Gold frowned and said, "If they are not waiting for reinforcements, I can't think of a reason why they stopped attacking. The last time they launched an attack, we spent a lot of effort to defend ourselves."

Saurfang on the side said gloomily: "It's mainly because of that six-ring mage. That damn guy is too intimidating. I don't dare to step onto the battlefield casually."

"But our basic combat power is far inferior to that group of drow."

"I say," Nemesis sighed and interrupted them, "You are a level 12 warrior, what are you afraid of? I'm afraid that the mage won't be able to catch up with your speed even after aiming for a long time."

Saurfang snorted coldly and said, "If it were normal, I wouldn't be afraid, but that mage has a sub-artifact in his hand. That sub-artifact can release a range-decelerating curse."

Nemesis' eyes lit up. A sub-artifact?

The so-called sub-artifacts are more precious than extremely rare magical items. Only legendary strong people can make sub-artifacts.

And all without having to pay a high price.

Nemesis became greedy for it.

Signa saw the desire of the Scroll Dragon and taunted him, "Don't even think about it. I've already reserved that sub-artifact."

Nemesis looked at her with disdain. Regardless of who would get it, if the other party insisted, he would let her know how powerful the alien dragon was.

"Focus on dealing with the drow first, and we'll fight after that's over." Nemesis gave her a look like this, and Segna wisely stopped talking.

Just as Gord was about to continue speaking, the piercing sound of a bell echoed in his ears. His face changed and he quickly said loudly, "The drow are attacking. Get ready to fight."

Then, his body flashed and disappeared from the spot.

Saurfang and Segna also went out one after another. Only Nemesis looked back at the top of the Psychic Tower before leaving.

Just as Gord left, he felt that the evil psychic energy became more obvious, and it seemed to come from the top floor of the tower.

Nemesis wanted to take a closer look, but out of the corner of his eye he saw Saurfang in the distance staring at him closely.

"Interesting." Nemesis took a deep look at the top of the tower. It was the first time he knew that psychic power could become evil.

The scroll dragon flapped its wings and flew high, and soon flew to the city wall.

The city of Kula Grommash is different from the goblin city. This city built by the mind flayers has fortress-level walls. Steel and stone together construct the solid walls, and dozens of large dragon crossbows are distributed on the walls.

Nemesis could even feel residual psychic fluctuations on the city wall, echoing with the psychic tower in the center of the city.

"What's the situation?" Nemesis asked.

Signa thrust her chin towards the distance, and the two huge horns on her dragon head swayed up and down. "Those disgusting necromancers are really annoying."

Nemesis looked into the distance and saw the army marching towards the city wall.

At the forefront were thousands of undead creatures, mostly skeletons and zombies, with the occasional mummies and bodaks interspersed among them. There were also a dozen ghosts flying in the sky above the undead army.
