Chapter 240 Jonathan's Photo
Jonathan has been having a very painful time recently. His beloved brother died, but his mother denied the fact and even brought a liar who claimed to be a psychic to their home to perform a ritual.

High school life in 1982 was already cruel. American students loved to bully others, especially nerds from poor families.

Unfortunately, Jonathan had both.

After suffering a drastic change at home, he had to endure the ridicule of the bullies when he came to school.

He could only numb himself by relying on his hobby of photography.

After school, he took the film he had just shot a while ago and planned to go to the photography store to get it developed. It was the film he had taken at the home of the school idol Steve a few days ago.

Don't get me wrong, an unpopular and bullied student like him definitely wasn't qualified to attend such a party, he just secretly took some photos outside Steve's house.

Unfortunately, he ran into Steve and his friends just after he left school.

"Hey, look, it's Jonathan the nerd!"

There were a man and two women standing next to Steve. When the man saw Steve, he grinned and poked him.

Steve nodded: "It seems like something happened to him at home recently, and he's in a bad mood. Don't mess with him, Terry."

Terry took a bite and looked at Jonathan with disdain. He loved to tease these campus losers for fun.

When Jonathan passed by them, Terry grabbed the films in his hands, took a look and laughed out loud: "Hey, Nancy, look, he's taking pictures of you!"

The long-haired, big-eyed girl next to Steve was stunned. She was Steve's girlfriend and also the best friend of Barbara, the girl who disappeared some time ago.

Steve frowned when he heard this and grabbed the film. Although the film was not yet developed and was quite blurry, there were some photos of Nancy on them.

He angrily threw the photo to the ground, grabbed Jonathan by the collar and yelled, "What do you mean!"

Nancy's expression changed drastically. What she hated most was that Steve's friends acted like gangsters all day long.

Seeing this, she quickly grabbed Steve's arm, stared at him with her big round eyes and said, "What are you doing!"

Steve was upset. Nancy actually yelled at him for this guy?!
But as the most handsome boy in the school, he was usually popular and he couldn't bring himself to explain his jealousy, so he just pushed Jonathan coldly.

"Why, are you having an affair?" he demanded.

Nancy's face turned gloomy. She had always been a good girl with excellent academic performance. During this period of time when she was dating Steve, her best friend Barbara kept advising her that Steve and he were not the same kind of people and she should not get too entangled.

Now she felt a little tired of Steve's unreasonable behavior, so she just held her breath and said, "Think whatever you want."

Steve also became anxious. He threw the film in his hand to the ground, then took Terry and his girlfriend and left.

Only Jonathan was left squatting on the ground in silence, collecting the films.

Nancy couldn't bear to see his depressed look, so she squatted down and picked up the films with him.

Jonathan's heart suddenly trembled, and he didn't dare to look into her eyes. He just whispered, "Thank you."

Nancy had just had an argument and felt bad, but after hearing what Jonathan said, she reluctantly raised the corners of her mouth and said, "It's okay, I want to apologize to you, Steve is a bastard, don't be with him..."

Halfway through her speech, her face suddenly froze and she stared at the film in her hand without moving.

Jonathan was a little confused and looked up at her. He found that her hand holding the film was shaking a little and her eyes were fixed on the film like nails.

"What's wrong?" he asked. Nancy finally responded, and asked with doubt in her eyes: "Did you take this photo on the day of the party at Steve's house?"

She handed over a photo. The photo showed Steve's backyard. A plump girl wearing glasses was sitting by the swimming pool, staring blankly at it.

Jonathan took one look and nodded.

Nancy swallowed, that day was the last day she saw Barbara. When she woke up the next day, Barbara was missing.

She thought Barbara had gone home that night, but when she saw the photos, she realized that Barbara was alone by the swimming pool after the party.

But that's not the point, it's what she saw in the photo.

"Look, there's someone behind her!" Nancy said tremblingly, pointing at the shadow behind Barbara in the photo.

Jonathan looked carefully, his expression changed, and he saw a tall, blurry figure in the shadows, but the film was too blurry and he couldn't see the figure clearly.

Nancy asked hurriedly, "Can you make the photo clearer?"

Jonathan nodded quickly and said, "Yes, let's go to the photography shop and get it developed."

The two rushed to the photo shop and developed the film in the dim room with dusk-like lights.

In the few seconds it took for the photo to take shape, Nancy felt like a year had passed, and she was eager to find clues to her best friend's disappearance immediately.

But when the photos came out, Nancy and Jonathan's expressions changed.

"How is this possible? What the hell is this?!"

In the photo, the creature in the shadow behind Barbara revealed its true appearance, a tall figure with long and thin limbs.

What’s scary is that it has no head. Instead, it has a bloody mouth like a sunflower, full of sharp teeth!
Barbara was unaware of what was behind her, and one of the monster's hands had already reached out to her!

"Monster, this is a monster. Has Barbara been captured by the monster?" Nancy looked a little confused.

Jonathan was a little dazed, and he remembered what his mother said. Will was not dead yet, and the family invited a psychic to find the missing Will.

Barbara, who is also missing, has a monster appearing behind her. Does that mean that Will might have been captured by this monster as well?
He suddenly regretted it. Why was he so sure that his brother was dead? Maybe his mother was right!

Jonathan suddenly turned around and said to Nancy, "My mother may know something. I'm going to ask her. Do you want to come with me?"

Nancy was stunned for a moment, then nodded firmly. Barbara's whereabouts had not been found yet, and she would never give up!
Soon, the two set out again and headed for Jonathan's home.

Joyce had just arrived home at this moment, and was a little confused when she saw Jonathan rushing in like a headless fly.

Before she could say anything, Jonathan took the photo from Nancy and asked Joyson, "Mom, do you know what this monster is?"

Joyce looked at the photo, and the hideous monster behind Barbara made her break out in a cold sweat.

Weird, twisted, bloody, and dark.

Is this the monster Mr. Nemesis was talking about?
She swallowed, looked at Jonathan and Barbara and said, "It should be a monster from the [Fallen Shadow Underworld]. Your brother Will is there!"
