Chapter 124 Shadow Valley

Dark day, lies, madness.

Cyric's experience is legendary, and he is one of the most active evil gods in modern times.

Four hundred years ago, after the end of the [Saint's Catastrophe], Cyric connected with the magic goddess Mystra and the death god Klemvor and became gods overnight. Under the appointment of the Great One, they jumped from mortals to become three noble and powerful gods.

Initially, Cyric was codenamed simply Dark Sun, and he held the three major priesthoods of murder, strife, and conspiracy, replacing the fallen three gods of death (who once held murder, strife, and death, respectively).

But this did not last long. Soon, Cyric used a dirty conspiracy to kill the former goddess of lies, Leila, and replaced her as the priest of lies.

Perhaps it was because this priesthood was too consistent with Cyric. Since becoming the Prince of Lies, Cyric has become increasingly insane. His followers have also been affected and have spread the conclusion that he is the only true God and that all others in the world except Cyric are false gods.

This made most of the true gods extremely disgusted with Xirik, and they thought he was an arrogant lunatic.

But this does not affect the extremely powerful power of Xirik and his church.

Not only is Cyric himself a noble and powerful deity, but the Church of Lies under his command has also gathered the power of Baal, the god of murder, and Bane, the god of strife, two of the former three gods of death.

Zhentil Keep, the dictatorial state that was originally the backyard of the faith of Bane, the god of strife and tyranny, has gradually been replaced by the faith of Cyric in recent years.

In this case, if Saint Delis really brought the Church of Lies over, the Church of Dawn might not be able to punish him.

In response to Conrad's accusations, Saint Therese's response was clearly unrepentant, and he didn't even care about the impact that the Church of Lies' joining would have.

Murder, lies, madness. From now on, most of the righteous churches in Imbutu will leave one after another after the Church of Lies moves in, and these chaotic scenes will continue to be staged in Imbutu.

The Church of Dawn can certainly choose to go to war with the Church of Lies, but this choice must be made by Losander himself, because the church is a subsidiary of the gods. Before the gods choose to launch a war of gods, the church has no right to privately start a full-scale war with any force.

The war between gods has not been fought for many years. The most recent war between gods was launched by Xirik against the Goddess of Lies, but this was also launched after a long period of preparation by the evil god.

Whatever the outcome, it will not be foreseeable in the short term.

After the priest of the Church of Lies showed up, the matter soon came to nothing. Bishop Conrad left with a sullen look on his face, and Lawrence helplessly said he could do nothing to help.

Prince Ryan and Duke Gavan were obviously the most anxious. They had already fallen out with the queen, or rather the king's family, and were likely to be liquidated afterwards.

"Damn it! That guy, he is not dead, why, why." Prince Ryan grabbed his hair fiercely, his eyes were bloodshot, what happened today was completely beyond his expectations.

"Now is not the time to dwell on this," Duke Gavin said with a gloomy expression. "Even if we didn't participate today, Saint Delis must know that we were the ones behind this."

"I never expected this," he sighed, "I thought this was all done by the Queen and Leorel, but I didn't expect that the old man was behind it."

Prince Ryan also felt the same way when Duke Gavin said this. He did not expect that it was the king who gave away the two cities personally.

Only Nemesis disagreed with this statement.

He frowned, remembering the reaction when he used his psychic power to explore the king's mind. It wasn't completely isolated and undetectable, but it was full of fragments and mumbling, like a madman.

But the king's condition was clearly not that.

The whole thing made him feel very strange. He believed in the feedback of the power of the mind. The king's thoughts at that time were definitely not what a normal person would have. The messy arrangement of memory fragments was just like the delusion of a mental patient. "I think," Nemesis thought about what words to use to describe it, "the king's condition is not quite right."

Prince Ryan sneered, "He is not only wrong, he is simply insane. Introducing the Church of Lies? Oh, he is so bold. Sooner or later, he will be turned into a real lunatic by those lunatics!"

"No," Nemesis frowned and shook his head. "He may have gone crazy. I have detected the thoughts in his mind. They are chaotic and do not seem like he can think normally at all."

Prince Ryan and Duke Gavin exchanged a glance. Duke Gavin, who was proficient in psychic powers, said, "How did you do it? I can't read Saint Delis's brain silently."

Nemesis shrugged, indicating that he had his own way.

Duke Gavin pondered for a moment, "But he behaves very normally, unless... he is being controlled by someone."

Prince Ryan sighed when he heard this: "I'm not surprised at all. God knows how long the Church of Lies has been around him. It is very likely that they have already used some means to control him. But the question is, even if we know, what can we do?"

Duke Gavin also nodded in agreement. He pinched his eyebrows. What happened today gave him a headache.

"Perhaps, we should seek help from secular forces? Since the church doesn't work." Duke Gavin thought for a while and said cautiously.

"You mean to ask other kingdoms to help us? Damn, what's the difference between that and being a real traitor!" Prince Ryan flatly refused.

"No," Duke Gavin frowned and said, "You may have forgotten that the Church of Lies also has enemies, enemies from the secular world."

Prince Ryan's eyes lit up and he asked, "Shadow Valley?"

"Shadow Valley!" Duke Gavin also nodded with a smile.

Nemesis on the side didn't understand what they were saying at all. Seeing that he was confused, Prince Ryan smiled and explained to him.

"Shadowdale is a very special force in the central region of Faerun."

"Their military strength is not particularly strong, but there are very few forces in the entire central Faerun that dare to provoke them."

"Because they have one of Faerun's most powerful wizards stationed there!"

"Elminster?" Nemesis asked in surprise.

"Yes, the most powerful legendary wizard, the chosen one of the magic goddess Mystra, the immortal decryptor. His power is definitely enough to fight against the Church of Lies!"

"More importantly, the Church of Lies and Elminster are already open enemies. Zhentil Keep harasses Shadowvale with conspiracies day and night, and has even sent out assassins to try to assassinate Elminster many times. Elminster also uses the Harper agent organization he founded to block Cyric's conspiracy across the continent."

"As long as he can put pressure on the Church of Lies and force them to withdraw their forces in Imbutu, we may still have a chance." Prince Ryan said excitedly.

Nemesis narrowed his eyes and said nothing.

It seems that Prince Ryan is planning to rebel?
Even though they discovered that the king was still alive, they obviously did not intend to give up their plan. Elminster would most likely agree to their request. After all, he probably did not want the Church of Lies to continue to grow in power.

I can finally put the map of the Kingdom of Inbutu aside. I'm tired of writing about it.
