From the Ming Dynasty, we will conquer the world

Chapter 272 Demon Emperor and Demon Buddha, the Truth of the Great Calamity

Having reached Xu Xing's current level, he can no longer simply observe billions of miles as if they were within his grasp. His perception range can even be counted in light-years. With a sweep of his divine sense, he can absorb all the wormhole fluctuations in the surrounding star fields.

The Demon Emperor's procession was extremely ostentatious. The "Sinking Giant Ship" beneath him alone was comparable to a giant planet, and the ship carried hundreds of millions of demon warriors. This combined power was even greater than that of the Star River Demon Kingdom.

This is why their traversal of the wormhole would be exceptionally loud, and even though the physical distance between them was still countless light-years, Xu Xing was able to perceive it quite clearly.

And this aura... he seemed to have sensed it somewhere before...

As he was pondering, Xu Xing's body suddenly trembled, and a small monkey with snow-white eyes and golden claws leaped out of its nostrils. With a sway in the wind, it had grown into a giant ape that was tens of feet tall and stood upright.

Xu Xing then realized what was happening.

This energy is exactly the same as the demonic energy remaining on the Nine Provinces Cauldron!
He had initially thought that the death of Yu the Great might have been caused by some demon lord, but when Xu Xing, with his current level of cultivation, looked back, he was able to discover the discrepancies in the story.

Because besides the demonic energy that permeated the spiritual realm, that aura also possessed a chilling, domineering, and insane intent that exuded arrogance.

If the Primordial Demon Ancestor intended to turn this world into a pasture to harvest the spiritual ignorance of all living beings, then the master of this will intended to shake the entire universe with his own power!

According to the "Nine Tripods of the Nine Provinces" and the "Tribute of Yu", after Emperor Yu ascended to heaven, he had already cultivated to the level of an emperor, but compared with this demon, he was indeed fundamentally inferior.

Even from Xu Xing's perspective, the opponent's strength was by no means inferior to that of a Great Sage who had cultivated to the Yang God realm in the Yang God Universe.

What's even more remarkable is that this person's approach is actually more akin to "shattering the vacuum"?!

However, this level of physical strength is more suitable for Xu Xing to use.

He smiled slightly, and the ape essence that had fallen out of the body immediately rose into the air, transformed into a round mirror, broke through the layer of protective energy, and arrived in the boundless starry sky.

Although Xu Xing left the Haotian Mirror's true form to his primordial spirit to defend against the combined attack of Wutian and the Great Heavenly Venerable, he could still use his fist intent and essence to restore six or seven tenths of the effect with his current physical strength.

It's perfect for dealing with demon emperors who cultivate their destiny but not their nature, who rely on their martial prowess and are ignorant of the laws of nature.

As soon as the mirror rose into the cosmos, it spontaneously lost its physical form, leaving only a distant and peaceful aura, like light smoke and mist, spreading throughout the universe.

The void, which was originally structurally complete and had a strict system, gradually began to distort and become chaotic under the influence of this energy. This was a subtle and imperceptible change, gradual yet incredibly rapid.

It's like billions of years of change condensed into a single moment, or like a single moment stretched out over billions of years.

The void spanning hundreds of light-years, along with the countless wormholes existing within its folds, has now been completely opened up by Xu Xing, forming a single expanse that expands into a sphere.

However, because this "circle" is too large, in the observation of every strong person, the edges appear to be straight lines, without any curvature.

Even a powerful figure like the Demon Emperor would find it difficult to detect the anomaly with just a cursory glance.

Moreover, he never imagined that such a powerful opponent remained on that mysterious ancient star.

After about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, the Demon Emperor suddenly opened his eyes on the self-destructing giant ship and realized that something was wrong.

What lay ahead was not a planet, but a vast continent shaped like a bowl, with mountain peaks rising above the surface, shrouded in clouds and mist, appearing and disappearing like a celestial abode.

Upon seeing this, the Demon Emperor knew that the place he had arrived at was not the ancient life-bearing star he had expected, but another mysterious realm.

Having traversed the material universe for billions of years, he naturally understood that once the size and weight of the stars in the heavens reached a certain stage, they would inevitably become spherical or bullet-shaped, which was the natural law.

The land before us was clearly created from the void by a powerful being—no, not created, but rather transported from somewhere else!

At a glance, the Demon Emperor knew that the vast land was a real material existence, while the many mountains and islands floating on it were somewhere between reality and illusion, but their aura was much stronger.

He had already visited the "mysterious and boundless world" and couldn't forget its scenery. He naturally knew that these things all came from this truly "mysterious world".

If that's the case, then there's no need to say more about what this place is; it's clearly the "Earthly Immortal Realm" that lies between the material universe and the "mysterious and boundless world"!
Although the Demon Emperor had stumbled upon this highly coveted place by accident, he couldn't help but frown and ponder it carefully.

He clearly didn't have the coordinates of this "Immortal Realm" and was aiming at that ancient star, so how did he suddenly end up here?
Although the Demon Emperor was not good at using "laws and principles" and preferred to break all laws with force, this so-called "unkindness" was still relative to those with great supernatural powers at the same level.

However, compared to the emperors, that's a different story.

The Demon Emperor followed this line of thought and quickly discovered the anomaly, and Xu Xing had no intention of hiding his methods.

The demonic behemoth stroked his chin, his eyes flickering with eerie green flames, and a wide grin spread across his face, revealing a look of intense interest.

Although he was subject to many restrictions due to his cultivation method, making it difficult for him to ascend to the vast and mysterious world on his own, he could still sense the moonlight that stretched across the sky, separating the mortal world from the upper realm.

It is precisely because of this that the Demon Emperor can confirm that the reason he was moved here was the work of the "True Martial Emperor" who bravely ascended to the upper realm and fought against two opponents single-handedly.

Because of the title "Nine Heavens Demon-Slaying Ancestor," the Demon Emperor had inquired about the True Martial Emperor from the Plague King more than once, but he had never heard of this person possessing such wondrous void supernatural powers.

He could even look around and see that even the strongest among the Heavenly Demon Clan, the Primordial Demon Ancestor, did not have such a method. Could it be that this was the divine power that the True Martial Emperor comprehended from the chaotic energy?
Thinking of this, the Demon Emperor was both shocked and impressed, but also somewhat emotional. As the second strongest being in the material universe, he could naturally sense the chaotic energy at the edge of the universe.

However, his path of cultivation prioritizes the physical body. Once he enters the chaotic energy and attempts to reach other universes, he will inevitably be swept away by the tide and never be able to return.

Those with great supernatural powers are already innate saints, with "ancestral energy" as their foundation. As long as they leave behind a trace of ancestral energy, it can serve as a coordinate to guide their way home.

Although only the True Martial Emperor has ever returned from the primordial chaos throughout history, this at least proves that the measure was indeed effective.

Just as the Demon Emperor was sighing, the powerful figures in the Earthly Immortal Realm had already sensed this terrifying aura, like a storm, that swept across the eight wastelands and the ten directions of the void in an instant.

"Huh?! Where did this monstrous being come from, so powerful?!"

"Could it be an old friend of that monkey?!"

The Immortal Realm, Xiniu Hezhou.

In the middle of a barren mountain peak, a man clad in gleaming golden armor, with skin radiating a glassy glow and a Buddhist seal flowing between his brows, suddenly rose to his feet and gazed beyond the boundary.

His body was extremely upright and resolute, and within a radius of ten feet around him, there surged an endless and countless powerful Buddhist force that compressed the void again and again!
If this void were fully released, its range would be measured in light-years, but now it has been forcibly confined to a mere ten feet around this man with unparalleled force, remaining stable and unshakable.

Such magical power is truly worthy of the term "immeasurable".

Just as the Great Celestial Venerable had the Demon Emperor, a powerful being, as an ally, the Demon Lord Wutian, though rising to power to seize the position of "World Venerable," was not alone.

This highly accomplished Buddhist master, who called himself "Great Extinction Tathagata," was an ally of Wutian. The fundamental Buddhist principle of the Great Extinction Tathagata is the path of destruction, aiming to completely annihilate all living beings in the universe, returning all phenomena to a state of pure emptiness, which is the highest form of Nirvana.

Such a method is even more extreme than that of the Primordial Demon Ancestor, and is naturally not tolerated by Mount Ling. However, this fiend is also extremely determined to spread the Dharma and can charge into battle for Buddhism when necessary.

Furthermore, the Buddha's Dharma is so profound that even compared to the World-Honored One, it is only slightly inferior. With such power, even if he cannot overturn the Great Buddha Hall, he can still roam freely in the Earthly Immortal Realm.

Moreover, the Great Extinction Tathagata follows the lineage of ancient Buddhas who practice asceticism. He does not value merit or spiritual power, nor does he seek incense or faith. He only focuses on cultivating himself.

Such magical powers and abilities cannot be easily taken away even by the World Honored One. If one were to fight against them, it is feared that a quarter or even a third of the Buddhas of Mount Ling would perish, which would be a great loss.

Therefore, the World-Honored One simply let it be and arranged for him to go to Xiniuhezhou, to sit in Xiaolingshan, and live next to Maitreya, the future Buddha.

The Buddha stated that if Maitreya could convert either Da Mi or Wu Tian, and bring either of these two Buddhist rebels back to the right path, he would immediately enter Nirvana and pass on the throne to Maitreya.

However, no matter how profound Maitreya's future Zen teachings are, they are helpless against the Great Annihilation Zen teachings, which are capable of severing the life force of all sentient beings and plunging the universe into pure annihilation.

The former incarnation of the Demon Lord Wutian, the Great Bodhisattva Kinnara, was a person with profound Buddhist nature. When he saw that a figure like the Great Extinction Tathagata could rely on his martial power and escape the law, his mind inevitably developed a slight flaw.

It was precisely this slight flaw that led to the final tragedy.

In fact, the root cause of this calamity is different.

In the Heavenly Court, the vast majority of immortals and gods are ancient gods and cultivators who have cultivated themselves from ancestral stars. However, there are also some who are true innate deities born from the "mysterious and boundless world" when the Three Pure Ones Heaven was created.

The Jade Emperor of the past was one of them, and the strongest among them.

Because of this nature of his, the immortals and gods followed the way of observing the heavens and acting according to the heavens, giving the Jade Emperor's position more meaning, and even using this position to bind the "Thirty-Six Heavens," including the Three Pure Ones Heaven.

Only those with great supernatural powers, such as the Earthly Sovereign and the True Martial Emperor, who uphold the "mysterious and boundless world" under the protection of the Jade Emperor, can leave this world, travel freely in spirit, and even leave behind a mark of their path.

However, the Tao follows the natural order, and this action already rejects any ulterior motives. In order to maintain the current situation, the emperors have no choice but to add more restrictions to the "Heavenly Rules".

But the stricter the Heavenly Rules were, the more they went against the will of the Jade Emperor and the Daoist Master. Finally, one day, the Jade Emperor broke free from these constraints, gracefully departed, and returned to the Heavenly Way.

Therefore, all those with great supernatural powers could no longer transcend this state, and even those with great supernatural powers, such as the Bodhi Patriarch who had already deeply penetrated the chaotic energy, could no longer find their way back.

On the other hand, the Western Buddhist Kingdom had a completely different idea. The World-Honored One wanted to establish the Ten Dharma Realms to restrain all sentient beings, so that all things would be born in an orderly manner, and only through cultivation could they transcend the constraints.

Those Buddhas who supported this idea even studied the method of vows by following the cause-and-effect relationship, achieving the wonderful effect of "result before cause".

In the view of these Buddhas, as long as one can cultivate the Ten Dharma Realms and include all sentient beings within them, then merit will flow in abundance, and there is no need to worry about subsequent karma.

Furthermore, at that time, the "Supreme Ruler of Heaven" had already developed a rift with the gods of Heaven, and the World Honored One of Mount Ling also regarded this as an excellent opportunity, encouraging the Buddhas to make great vows in exchange for supernatural powers.

However, this collective vow was the first of its kind ever made, which naturally led to unpredictable consequences. Karmic forces arose from nothingness and demanded repayment from the Buddhas.

In the end, this karma even merged with the demonic path in the material universe. The demonic path was already deeply entangled with the Buddhas. If the Primordial Demon Ancestor were to follow the clues and come to the Upper Realm, which of the Buddhas of Mount Ling would be able to escape the calamity?
The Buddha's solution was to select those destined to face the calamity.

After much deliberation, he chose the Bodhisattva Kinnara, who possessed profound Buddhist nature, to descend to the mortal realm to undergo tribulations. In other words, he offered his body to the demons, attempting to reverse the corruption of the demonic system with his pure Buddhist nature.

Although this matter may not be successful, it can buy more time for Mount Ling. As long as the Ten Dharma Realms can be built in the "Mysterious and Boundless World", then everything will be worthwhile and everything can be salvaged.

Kinnara was originally a protector of the Buddha's kingdom. Now that he was able to sacrifice himself for the propagation of the Dharma, following the example of the Buddha cutting off his own flesh to feed the eagle, he was naturally happy to do so.

However, it was precisely because of the Great Annihilation that left a flaw in his heart that Kinnara was unable to resist the corruption of the Heavenly Demon system, completely degenerating into a demon, and even merging with the karma of the Buddhist Kingdom, truly becoming "Wutian".

Only then did Wutian realize the hypocrisy of all Buddhas.

Perhaps from the very beginning, these Buddhas truly intended to use the Ten Realms to universally save all sentient beings, demonstrating the immeasurable power of Buddhism. However, as their vows grew more numerous and grander, they had long since strayed from their original intentions.

When Kinnara descended to the mortal realm, the World-Honored One had no intention of saving all sentient beings. He merely treated sentient beings as a field of merit, harvesting their faith and vows to repay his own vows.

At this point, Wutian realized that the Great Extinction Tathagata was one of the few truly genuine people in Buddhism, so he chose to cooperate with this Buddhist traitor.

Unlike the Great Celestial Venerable who guided the Demon Emperor to the Heavenly Realm and eliminated opposing forces in the Heavenly Court, when the Great Calamity descended, it was the Great Destruction Tathagata who took action, ferrying the Demon Lord of No Heaven to the Earthly Immortal Realm, allowing him to reside in Mount Ling.

Maitreya, the future Buddha, was the first Buddha to suffer calamity. He was killed on the spot by the Great Extinction Tathagata, and only one of his relics escaped from Little Vulture Peak and disappeared without a trace.

With all the Buddhas of Mount Ling now in extinction and Wutian trapped in the "mysterious and boundless world," the Great Extinction Tathagata is undoubtedly the strongest being in the Earthly Immortal Realm.

Now that the Demon Emperor is attacking so aggressively, given his temperament, he naturally won't let it go unchecked.

With a single shout, the Great Extinction Tathagata's armor shone with the brilliant light of millions of suns. With a wave of his arms, he soared into the sky and met the Demon Emperor's sinking behemoth!

"Under the clear and bright heavens, how can we allow evil spirits to run rampant!"

Although the two were still hundreds of millions of miles apart, at the moment the Great Annihilation made its move, a million demons had already died in the sinking giant ship. Although their deaths were different, they were all extremely tragic.

The Demon Emperor sensed the pure killing intent, baleful aura, and ferocity emanating from the Great Annihilation Tathagata. Completely disregarding the casualties of his subordinates, he simply laughed heartily and clapped his hands in praise:

"Hahahaha, what a wicked bald thief! So ferocious and arrogant! Why not join my ranks and become a demonic monk or a fiendish Buddha?!"

Although the Demon Emperor has not yet fully unleashed his demonic power, his laughter alone has already shaken the entire Earthly Immortal Realm!
-

"Well done! Hey, that was a brilliant move."

On the ancestral star, Xu Xing also took this opportunity to observe this decisive battle between the universe's top experts with the "pseudo-Haotian Mirror" formed from his essence and energy, marveling at it with great interest.

Xu Xing originally wanted the Demon Emperor to help him scout the way, but he didn't expect that there was such a bald thief in the Earthly Immortal Realm who was extremely incompatible with him. As soon as they met, they went straight to fight to the death.

Xu Xing looked at the surface of the ancestral star again, his eyes flashing.

However, just looking at it like this is still a bit boring.

He grinned, revealing a smile just like the Demon Emperor's—a smile of eager anticipation and enthusiasm.

—Hey you two, don't kill them so quickly! (End of Chapter)
