Witch, Fireball and Steam Evil God

Chapter 8 Unnatural Death

Chapter 8 Unnatural Death

"Come on, explain to me what natural death is."

Ivy felt a dull pain in her head, so she squatted beside the dead man and examined him carefully.

There were some abrasions on his arms, which, according to Ethan's explanation, were caused when Wolf Chicken dragged the man's body back to the cabin, but this could not explain the man's heavy bleeding.

The suspect Ethan moved a small chair and sat on the side, eating the milk and bread brought by Ivy, and gave half of it to Miss Chloe who was eagerly waiting.

He explained, "This man was walking on the road when he suddenly vomited blood and fell to the ground. He died a very natural death."

Miss Chloe said so, and the man was dead before she rushed to rescue him.

Ethan admitted that he had complained about the believers of the Enlightenment Society in his heart yesterday, thinking that they were cold-blooded perverts, but everything has two sides. As long as you have a clear conscience, they will try their best to prove your innocence even if your testimony is lame.

The truth is above everything else. This is the creed of every follower of truth.

Ivy seemed to have thought of something. She turned the man's body over, made him lie flat on the ground, took out the dagger she carried with her from the inside pocket of her windbreaker, and ordered, "Come and help."

Ethan suddenly had a bad feeling, "What help?"

"Help me cut open his stomach."

"This...isn't good."

"He's already dead. Finding out the truth will at least make his death a worthy one."

"I meant I was having breakfast."

Ethan shook the bread in his hand, but in Ivy's eyes, this excuse was incredible. She gave him a suspicious look, as if she didn't understand the conflict between the two.

He could only add, "The blood will spill on the bread."

“Just think of it as cherry jam.”

With a serious look and a matter-of-fact tone, Ethan originally wanted to reprimand Ivy, but suddenly he realized something and felt a chill in his heart, "You... have tasted it?"

"This is normal. When I was in the academy, I often had to stay with corpses for a whole day. Blood and cherry jam taste very similar. As for brain tissue, you can treat it as--"

"Stop, stop!"

This girl is definitely not normal, Ethan is serious.

He felt that the bread in his hand was stained with blood.

Ivy noticed that Ethan moved the stool back a meter. She glanced at him with contempt and said coldly, "You're useless." Then, she pointed the dagger at the man's bulging belly and stabbed it straight in, cutting it cleanly with one stroke.

A large amount of blood gushed out, dyeing her entire face red.

"See, I warned you a long time ago."

Seeing this, Ethan once again picked up the small stool and strategically retreated three meters. At the same time, he silently thought to himself that this man was not normal. Normally, blood should not flow out like a fountain when the stomach is cut by a knife.

He thought Ivy would scream and curse, but she just wiped the blood covering her eyes with her sleeve, calmly tore open the cut on the corpse's abdomen with both hands, observed for a moment, reached in and stirred it. This scene made Ethan lose his appetite, his facial features twisted together, and handed the bread, which he had only taken a few bites of, to Miss Chloe.

Miss Chloe accepted all the food offered to her, and judging by the way she swallowed the bread in one gulp, she even thought it went well with rice.

"His internal organs were melted. This was probably caused by witchcraft. Okay, you didn't kill him."

Ivy turned her bloody face around, like a real perverted serial killer. She did not forget to correct Ethan, "But your defense just now was very problematic. If you meet someone who doesn't like to get to the bottom of things, you will get yourself into jail. Don't say that next time."

"Your Excellency is wise!"

The golden hair on Ivy's head was as flexible as human fingers, pointing directly at Ethan with full momentum, "Stop flattering me and finish your milk quickly."

"Finished."

"Then come and help me move him to a flat place in the house."

Ethan glanced at the corpse from a distance. The man's eyes were open, which showed that he had experienced great pain before his death. His wide-open eyes were staring at him, and the bloody mess in his stomach...

"Ms. Chloe, come and help me." He immediately called for off-field assistance, but Ivy gave him a look that said "there's no hope."

Miss Chloe's movements were as agile and strong as ever. In less than a minute, she dragged the man's body into the cabin. The only problem was that her operation was not precise enough, and the floor was covered with blood, making his new home look more like a crime scene. Ivy had already started the next task. She drew a circle with the man's body as the center, and then carefully filled the circle with runes that he could not understand.

Ethan, a bystander, felt deeply worried.

At first, the crime scene looked like he and Miss Chloe were killing people to rob passers-by of their belongings, but Ivy's arrival successfully turned this place into a sacrifice site for the evil god's followers.

"Master Ivy, I have something to say but I don't know whether I should say it or not."

Ivy squatted in front of the body, not even turning her head, "Don't talk about it."

"I think it's better for me to talk about it. Just to confirm one thing, we are not followers of the evil god, right?"

"The ritual of sacrificing the evil god is not drawn like this. This is to make him speak."

“Let the dead speak?”

Ivy was too lazy to explain any more. She quickly completed the last rune and took out a palm-sized sheepskin scroll from the inner pocket of her clothes. She muttered something and then focused her eyes. She slapped the scroll in her palm on the man's forehead. The whole body emitted a faint green halo. An invisible force lifted the body up, and the low echo made the whole room look like a haunted house.

She asked the man, "Who killed you?"

"The water... there's something wrong... be careful... everyone is dead... we must warn Xi and Ximu..."

"Boom."

The force that held up the body disappeared, and the body fell limply to the ground again. Ivy frowned, thinking for a long time, and then murmured, "Someone cast a curse on him through the water source. Where did you find him?"

"On the main road."

"It means he is from Riverside."

Ethan could tell that Ivy was thinking hard, because he noticed that there was steam coming out of the girl's head, and it looked like she was dissipating heat. Miss Chloe suddenly became agitated. She flapped her wings and warned the two of them, "Coo, coo, coo!"

The footsteps outside the house were getting closer and closer, but Ivy turned a deaf ear to them.

"Hide first!"

After receiving the order, Miss Chloe immediately hid behind the cabinet and assumed the posture of a swordsman.

Ethan's heart was in his throat. He stood behind the door, waiting for the chaotic footsteps to approach the door.

There was more than one person coming, and through the door he heard the sound of swords being drawn.

A familiar voice penetrated the room like a thunderbolt. "Don't act rashly. We are the guards of Ximu Town. You... Sheriff, why is it you?"

The shouting stopped abruptly, and the burly man who broke into the room froze in place after seeing Ivy.

Ivy, whose thoughts were interrupted, finally came back to her senses. She raised her head and stared at the captain of the guard. After she stood up, she seemed to have completely forgotten that she was covered in blood. She walked towards the captain of the guard like a devil from hell. The burly man was so scared of her that he took a few steps back.

"Just in time."

Ivy asked, "Did you see any suspicious people along the way?"

All the town guards were shocked. They looked at each other and confirmed each other's inner thoughts.

The next moment, more than a dozen fingers pointed at Ivy at the same time.

Including the tuft of golden hair on her head.

"Mr. Ethan."

Ivy felt that she was going to suffer from high blood pressure at such a young age. She quickly found her primary target under the spotlight and threatened viciously, "If you point at me again, I'll hit you!"
