Chapter 104 Miner Kane
The leader of the rioting miners was a man named Kane, from Gear City. Two months ago, he owed a huge debt due to gambling. In order to repay the debt, he was forcibly conscripted to do manual labor in the Haywood Mine.

Ethan and several gunmen sat in front of the fireplace. This place was originally a resting place for the guards, where a large amount of daily supplies were stored.

It is not difficult to pry open the mouths of the gunmen. Only 50 silver antelopes are needed to make them reveal all the information they know, not to mention that this matter is not a secret.

"This is what a survivor of the guards said. The guy was lucky. He was shot three times but none of them hit his vital parts. He escaped by lying among the corpses and pretending to be dead."

The speaker was a young man with a goatee named Edward.

Compared to the burly mercenaries, he looked much more gentle. He claimed that he was born in a noble family, but his family fell into poverty, so he went to the guild in Gear City to find a clerical job. Later, he felt that the clerical job made money too slowly, so he became a hunter.

However, he was not a follower of Cynthia. He taught himself a lot of knowledge about expelling dark creatures. Because of his family, he had contacts with the Shelter Bureau and could often get some investigator equipment. He was more than enough to deal with some common undead and zombies. Later, the Imperial Military Industry was recruiting people in Gear City. The recruiting officer appreciated his mind and recruited him into the Musketeers.

Edward had a good impression of the people in the shelter. When he heard that Ethan was an investigator from Creekwood Town, he took the initiative to invite him to sit in the barracks - this barracks was naturally won for the small group by him using his eloquence. Although it was now night, most of the gunmen had to guard the entrance of the mine to prevent the miners from breaking out.

"The guard also said that Kane has never stopped since he came to the Highwood Mine. He often gets a few cases of cold beer after a day's work and gathers all the miners together to complain. Most of these miners probably started the riot under Kane's instigation."

Edward smiled. "But he's going to be in big trouble this time. I heard that this matter has alarmed the top military officials of the Empire. Young Master Esoke came to Gear City specifically for this matter and ordered that Kane must be brought back alive."

The gunmen traveling with Edward also laughed with glee, "That young master is a ruthless character, and he knows a lot of ways to torture people. Maybe we can open our eyes to him when we return to Gear City."

The atmosphere of the conversation was very harmonious. Edward and his team didn't worry about the mine at all. They had a clear position on their own. They just worked without putting in any effort. If a rabbit came to their doorstep, they would just shoot it a few times.

It seemed like they were going to spend the night like this. Maomao felt bored and yawned, squinting his eyes and resting his head on Ethan's cheek to take a nap.

"This cat is quite beautiful. Where did you find it?"

Edward would look at the white cat from time to time, knowing that it was not a wild cat that could be found everywhere. Some nobles in the imperial capital were willing to spend a lot of money on cats of this breed.

"I found her in town. She had nowhere to go, so I took her home."

"I've heard that this kind of cat is very popular in the capital. It might sell for a good price. If you're short of money, I can..."

"No need."

Ethan waved his hand, "She's my friend."

Seeing Ethan's statement, Edward stopped talking. However, the gunmen looked a little strange. They didn't keep small animals, and they had never heard of anyone treating small animals as friends.

However, when Edward mentioned that "it could be sold for a good price", everyone became excited. They exchanged glances secretly, as if they were discussing something with their eyes.

Ethan naturally saw this. In order to avoid bloodshed and build a harmonious community, he said goodbye to Edward, declined the other party's invitation to stay overnight, and walked out of the barracks.

Kane's news surprised him a little. At least so far, the riot in the Heywood Mine did not seem to involve any evil gods or supernatural powers. The miners also paid a heavy price in the battle with the guards. In addition to those who died outside, many injured people retreated to the mine.

This was not a case that the Asylum Bureau should be involved in. Except for Edward, no one else welcomed his arrival, especially the magician who led the team. As soon as they met, he asked a lot of questions with great caution. After Ethan showed his ID, he reluctantly allowed him to stay and warned Ethan not to interfere with their actions.

While the guards were stationed, Hagrid and his team were not idle either. They were cleaning up the corpses piled on the ground, looking for familiar faces among them. Whenever someone sighed, Hagrid frowned.

They did not dare to drag the miners' bodies away for burial. After all, they were all rioters. They could only move those familiar faces to a more remote location under the pretext of cleanup.

Hagrid saw Ethan from a distance and took the initiative to greet him.

When he got closer, he couldn't wait to ask, "How's your investigation going?"

"The person who led the riot was Kane, a native of Gear City. The gunmen said he was a gambler and was good at public speaking."

After a pause, Ethan added, "They don't plan to attack for the time being. They plan to trap them in the mine."

Hagrid breathed a sigh of relief. There was still time!
He thought about it for a long time, and finally made up his mind. He said to Ethan, "Brother Ethan, I have something to ask of you."

"You tell me." "I have to go into the mine. If I can't come back, you have to find a way to bring them back to Riverwood Town so that no more people die."

Hagrid must bring the message to the miners inside. If they can find a way to break out, the border gang will arrange a transport team to pick them up in the valley south of the Heywood Mine at dawn tomorrow.

However, this must never be known to anyone other than yourself.

This is a matter of life and death, and he has to bear it alone.

"Row."

Ethan nodded.

Hagrid patted him on the shoulder heavily and wanted to say something, but fell silent again.

He gave a few more instructions to his men, then turned around and walked into the night alone.

The cat looked at Hagrid's receding back, then fell to the ground along Ethan's arm and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

About a quarter of an hour later, the sound of a cat came from the energy storage crystal.

"The miners recognized Hagrid and didn't give him any trouble. This is the cat."

"That's good. I'll watch from outside. This is Lao Sen."

"However, I think I found something interesting. I need to investigate. This is Cat."

The energy crystal could not imitate the speaker's tone, but Ethan could imagine her voice.

The conversation between the two was interrupted by a commotion in the distance.

Another troop arrived.

The troop was led by a man dressed in a black tuxedo and looking like an aristocrat.

The magician stepped forward and wanted to say something, but was pushed away by the man. The man ignored the magician's livid face and directed his troops to set up positions at the entrance of the mine as if no one was around.

"Something not so interesting happened over here, this is Old Sen."

But this time, Maomao didn't respond to him right away, and he put away the energy crystal and moved towards the commotion.

"A bunch of useless trash."

As soon as he approached, Ethan heard the noble man's scolding, and he insulted the magician mercilessly.

A distinguished person from the Astrology Guild was humiliated in public like this.

However, the magician just clenched his fists and said nothing.

"It's Talon, the president of the Chamber of Commerce. Why is he here?"

Edward also came over listening to the excitement.

Ethan took the opportunity to learn the identity of this decisive man.

Talon was directing his guards to place several barrels at the entrance of the mine. Edward, who had sharp eyes, immediately understood the intention of this group of uninvited guests. His face changed, "He is planning to use poisonous smoke to force the people in the mine out! Damn it!"

Edward cursed quietly, "Those miners are going to come out and fight!"
