Chapter 37: Well-Organized Hell's Kitchen

Chapter 37: Well-Organized Hell's Kitchen

A black car from S.H.I.E.L.D. once again sped into the streets of Hell's Kitchen. The difference from last time was that this time only Coulson and Hawkeye were investigating.

After the two of them discussed it, they felt that a secret investigation was too unreliable.

Last time, they came here to shop with the director and openly revealed their FBI identities. Although it didn't make a big deal, since this is Hell's Kitchen, their appearance and identity information are probably known to everyone.

Once your identity is exposed, it will be useless to cover it up afterwards.

The two men simply stopped pretending and came clean, launching a public search.

"Barton, do you feel that Hell's Kitchen seems to have become more depressing since the last time we were here?"

Coulson tugged at his tie, feeling the urge to untie it.

After the "monster" incident, the atmosphere in the entire Hell's Kitchen became even heavier and more uneasy.

Ever since the vehicle drove in, Coulson always felt that many pairs of eyes were staring at him, which made Coulson even more terrified.

He was driving, what did that mean? It meant that most of the people in Hell's Kitchen were probably watching him.

This made Coulson's heart sink. He thought this mission might be troublesome.

"Yes, it's very strange. Even if the news that we are the FBI spread throughout Hell's Kitchen, it wouldn't have come to this. It seems that the entire Hell's Kitchen is united as one.

The person holding the rope could not possibly be Kingpin. Although his methods are superb, he could never make so many people willingly die for him."

Hawkeye scanned the area with his excellent eyesight and felt a chill in his heart. He had a bad feeling.

"Barton, I'm afraid no one in the entire Hell's Kitchen will help us now."

Coulson was a little discouraged. He thought that even if their FBI identity was known to others, considering the complicated situation in Hell's Kitchen, there would always be someone willing to become a "tainted witness."

But, I'm afraid this situation is just wishful thinking.

"I'm afraid it won't go smoothly this time. I'm afraid there will be more danger. Coulson, I'll leave the director of this operation to you. You decide whether we should continue the investigation or retreat immediately."

Coulson heard this and glanced across the street, weighing the pros and cons in his mind.

As an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., facing difficulties and dangers is commonplace, but the current situation is obviously beyond their expectations. However, it would be a pity to retreat before the mission even begins.
"Retreat is not our style, Patton, but I also understand that a head-on confrontation may only put us in a more dangerous situation."

Coulson gritted his teeth and said this, retreating like this would make him seem too incompetent and cowardly.

This kind of thing is not something an honest man like him can do.

What's more, Coulson didn't believe that when everyone in Hell's Kitchen knew that they were the FBI, anyone would dare to beat him, a civil servant, to death or arrest him in broad daylight.

That would be tantamount to declaring war on the state machine. Not only would SHIELD not give up, but the entire America would too.

It will never happen in movies or TV shows, where no one cares about the death of a dog.

"In that case, what is your goal?"

Hawkeye asked, now that he had decided to investigate, he had to have a direction and know where to start.

"Let's go first. Hmm? What is that?"

Coulson stopped talking midway and the car he was driving stopped.

"Coulson, what's wrong?" Hawkeye was waiting for Coulson to continue, but saw a look of astonishment on his colleague's face.

"I think we may not need to go to great lengths to find it."

Coulson pointed to a place not far ahead, and a church with a strange style suddenly appeared in front of the two of them.

Coulson simply couldn't describe the weirdness of the church. It looked like an ordinary church structure, but it seemed strange no matter how he looked at it.

I had an extremely ominous feeling in my heart, as if there was a monster hiding in this church.

However, there is no need to bother looking for it now. You can just go to the church and search. Who knows, you may find some surprises.

"How dare they?"

Hawkeye's tone was full of disbelief and shock, his eyes were fixed on the church in front of him which had a completely different style and exuded an ominous aura.

The exterior of the church looks even more eerie under the sunlight. The black stone seems to glow faintly under the light, and the twisted decorations and unknown totems make people feel chilly.

"Fortunately they are so bold, otherwise I would have a headache about where to start."

Coulson teased, but he felt a little cold in his heart.

They dared to set up a church so brazenly. What does this mean? It means they are fearless!
Coulson felt a little regretful, wondering if his actions were too rash. However, if he didn't even ask when the time came, he would not be able to complete his mission.

"But now that things have come to this, we have no way out."

Coulson took a deep breath and his eyes gradually became firm.

"Barton, get ready. Let's get off the car. This time, we will go as FBI agents and walk into the church openly to see what secrets are hidden inside. I don't think they dare to do anything to us."

The two men got out of the car quickly. There was no need for them to say much to each other. A glance was enough to show them each other's intentions.

They slowly approached the strange church; each step seemed particularly heavy, as if the stone pavement beneath their feet was carrying an unspeakable pressure.

As the distance got closer, the ominous atmosphere emanating from the church became stronger. The people around seemed to sense this strangeness and cast curious and fearful glances at it.

Facing the gazes from everyone around them, the two men quickly walked to the door of the church. Coulson knocked lightly on the heavy wooden door and waited for a response.

In just a few seconds, footsteps were heard.

Coulson swallowed, a little worried that after opening the door, a monster would jump out and whether he should use American Iai on it immediately.

However, after the footsteps stopped, the door was slowly opened, and a middle-aged man in a black robe and with a serious face appeared. It was Casillas.

The face of this ordinary person immediately disappointed Coulson, but at the same time he was secretly delighted in his heart, because at least he didn't have to fight right away.

"Welcome. Are you here to listen to the Great Father's teachings? No matter who you are, as long as you believe in the Great Father, we in the Dagon Church will welcome you."

"We are FBI agents. Here are our credentials. We suspect there are illegal items in your church. We are going to search it now."

Coulson didn't waste any words and directly showed his forged ID. Casillas observed it for a while, nodded, and said something that surprised Coulson.

"Do you have a search warrant?"

Casillas' words were gentle, but this time it made Coulson confused.

Who knew a cult would ask for a search warrant? He didn't forge one!
