Chapter 8 Blood Mist
Chapter 8 Blood Mist
"What if that shadow... is really a ghost?" 0401 asked worriedly.
"If it really is a weird thing, report it to the Investigation Bureau and ask them to send a 'hunter'." Captain Huang said, "But the prerequisite is that you have to make sure that it is really a weird thing, otherwise..."
"What would happen otherwise?" 0401 asked curiously.
"You don't want to know." Captain Huang shook his head with a stern face, as if he was very secretive about those guys called "hunters".
"Hunter, is he the 'expert in dealing with weird creatures' mentioned in the mission information?" Sun Hang asked.
In his limited common sense, the profession of investigator was more or less described in a few words, but for the word "hunter", the only definition in his mind was "a person who engages in hunting."
Obviously, the "hunter" Captain Huang mentioned is definitely not the "hunter" that Sun Hang understood.
"That's right...but to be honest, I would rather face vicious lawless thugs than deal with those things." Captain Huang sighed and said.
Sun Hang noticed that his adjective for "hunters" was "those things" rather than "those people."
The two sheriffs had walked to the place where the figure had just stood. They shone the flashlights in their hands on the ground, and saw a series of clear footprints on the floor covered with a thick layer of dust, extending in the direction where the figure had just fled.
"Judging from the size and shape of the footprints, it seems to be a female, barefoot, with flat feet, and the little toe of the right foot is missing." A sheriff who is proficient in traceology quickly analyzed.
"Chase." Captain Huang's order was concise and to the point.
Everyone immediately followed the footprints. With the presence of the trace expert, even though there were many scattered footprints in the passage, they never lost the target. They chased him from the second floor back to the first floor, and then to the basement of the haunted house.
During the tracking process, the sheriffs also obtained a surprising clue.
Among those messy footprints, they found the footprints of the missing trainee sheriff!
"Size 38 field training boots. It belongs to Hu Lijun." The trace expert nodded to Captain Huang. "She went into the basement and never came out."
The barefoot woman in the robe also fled into the basement in front of her.
For some reason, Sun Hang always felt something was not right.
Before entering the haunted house, he glanced at the advertisements on the wall, which detailed the various attractions inside the haunted house, including the themed secret room on the first floor and the retro maze on the second floor, but there was no mention of the basement.
"Does the haunted house include the basement?" Sun Hang raised his doubts, "Why is it not mentioned in the project introduction outside?"
"It's probably a power distribution room, a monitoring room, or a control room." 0398, who had returned to normal, said, "This kind of place is not open to tourists, so it's normal that it doesn't appear in the introduction."
The entrance to the basement is a locked iron door, which is covered with rust and some suspicious dark brown marks. It is not known whether they are water mixed with rust or blood left by some creatures.
"Boom!!"
With a dull thud, the battering ram broke open the door lock. Two sheriffs holding riot shields used their bodies to push open the iron door and rushed in with their shields raised.
The remaining sheriffs also drew their guns.
About ten meters away from the door, the barefoot woman in a long robe was standing under a huge painting, with her head lowered, reciting something in an indistinguishable voice.
Only then did everyone see clearly that what she was holding in her hand was a retro-style oil lamp, with a faint flame constantly shaking at the end of the wick.
"Don't move!" Captain Huang shouted in a trembling voice, "Put down what you have in your hands! Take off your hood! Put your hands up!"
The other party ignored Captain Huang and instead increased the speed of his recitation.
A strange fragrance filled the basement, and the next second, crimson mist emerged from the cracks in the floor, instantly enveloping everyone. "Control her!" Captain Huang ordered.
The two sheriffs with shields raised were about to step forward, but they found that their bodies were frozen in place as if they were out of control. No matter how hard they tried, they could not take a single step forward.
"Captain Huang...Captain Huang, I can't seem to move!" The sheriff raised his shield and said with a hint of fear in his voice, "What's going on?"
"Is there poison in the fog?" Captain Huang subconsciously raised his hand to cover his mouth and nose, and raised his pistol with his other hand to shoot, but before he pulled the trigger, his wrist suddenly went limp and the whole pistol fell to the ground.
Another sheriff also tried to shoot, but something even more terrifying happened - he raised his gun and aimed it at the knee of the man in the robe, but just a second before pulling the trigger, he suddenly moved the muzzle towards his colleague next to him.
"Bah!"
The sound of gunfire echoed in the basement. The sheriff who fired the shot had his face splattered with his colleague's blood. He took one look at the body at his feet and let out a scream of terror.
Everyone in the team seemed to have lost control of their bodies, except for one person.
Sun Hang moved his wrist with some confusion, then bent down and picked up the pistol that Captain Huang had dropped on the ground.
He discovered that the crimson mist that emerged from the cracks in the floor always kept a distance of several centimeters from him. Wherever he walked, a human-shaped "blank area" would appear, as if the mist was actively avoiding him.
Are they... afraid of me?
Sun Hang tilted his head and thought for a moment, then walked straight to the woman in the robe.
He smiled at the other person, then raised his hand and slapped him in the face.
"Snapped!"
The sound of palms and cheeks colliding was so crisp that it echoed throughout the basement.
Everyone was stunned, including the woman in the robe.
After being stunned for two seconds, she said in a sharp and trembling voice: "How dare you..."
"Snapped!!"
Another big punch interrupted the other party's questioning, and even the oil lamp in her hand was knocked to the ground.
The moment the oil lamp went out, the blood-like mist instantly disappeared into thin air.
"You...you...are unforgivable! He will punish you..."
“Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!!”
Loud slaps sounded one after another, and the woman in the robe was slapped back again and again. In the end, she had to squat down and raise her arms to protect her cheeks.
“Don’t… don’t hit me…”
Sun Hang rubbed his palms which were already a little red and swollen, and couldn't help but sigh in his heart - as expected, the action of force is mutual.
He turned around, glanced at the people standing there in a daze, and shouted, "What are you still standing there for? Come over here and cuff them!"
