Chapter 3 Onboarding Training
Chapter 3 Onboarding Training
……
Three days passed in a flash, but Sun Hang's memory showed no signs of recovery.
At nine o'clock in the morning on the third day, the doctor for routine rounds had not yet arrived, and two soldiers in black tactical equipment pushed open the door of the ward with a certificate and a discharge summary signed by the director.
They asked Sun Hang to change into a light grey uniform, and then took him to an SUV with anti-peep film on the windows and the Tianfu City Abnormal Investigation Bureau logo printed on the side.
"Where are you taking me? The Investigation Bureau?" Sun Hang couldn't help but ask.
The two soldiers didn't say anything, they just sat on his left and right, silently holding their weapons... They gave Sun Hang the feeling that they were escorting a criminal.
Sun Hang could only look at the buildings on both sides of the road... He realized that he had no sense of familiarity with Tianfu City. Not only that, he could not speak the dialect of Tianfu City. This showed that before he lost his memory, he was most likely not a native resident of Tianfu City.
Am I really a refugee?
After an hour and a half of driving, the SUV stopped in a large empty yard.
At the signal of the two soldiers, Sun Hang got out of the car alone, and then the SUV quickly drove out of the yard.
"Please show me your ID." A middle-aged man wearing the same light gray uniform as Sun Hang, but with the logo of the Abnormal Investigation Bureau on the chest and cuffs, came up to Sun Hang and said to him.
Sun Hang took out the only two documents he had from his pocket and handed them over.
"0420:, right? I've been waiting for you." The middle-aged man returned the certificate to Sun Hang. "The on-the-job training will start soon. Follow me."
He took Sun Hang into the house, in a stepped lecture hall that was as large as a movie theater. There were already twenty or so people sparsely seated in the seats, all wearing the same unmarked uniforms as Sun Hang.
"This session's new members are here, we can start now." The middle-aged man spoke into the intercom hanging on his shoulder, then found a random seat in the last row and sat down.
Sun Hang also sat down in the last row, with two empty seats between him and the middle-aged man.
Not long after, a tall and thin man in a white coat walked up to the podium and said, "First of all, welcome to the Tianfu City Abnormal Investigation Bureau. Although you are only temporary investigators outside the staff, I believe that in the near future, it will only be a matter of time before you become a regular employee."
"It's only a matter of time before life starts over." Sun Hang heard a young woman sitting in the row in front of him muttering, "You're just making promises right off the bat... Do you really think everyone sitting here is a fool?"
Sun Hang quietly stood up, bent his waist and secretly moved to the front row, sat down next to the young woman, and asked in a low voice: "Were you also...'forced' to sign that contract voluntarily?"
"What else?" The young woman glanced at Sun Hang and raised her eyebrows. "Those who can sit here all owe the Federation a large sum of money and cannot pay it back. They have no choice but to sell their lives to the Federation... Ha, and they are still being promoted. If they can live to pay off their debts, it would be a great honor for their ancestors."
"Uh..." Sun Hang wanted to ask something, but the skinny guy on the podium had already completed a brief self-introduction and started the formal content of the induction training. He had to concentrate, for fear of missing out on any important information.
Every word this guy says may affect his future life and death.
"I'm sure everyone here knows about weird things, but the Federation's classification regulations for weird things have never been made public. The first thing I want to teach you is the classification and naming of weird things." Skinny Bamboo said. "Except for a very small number of 'special weird things' that have 'names', most weird things are called by code names. The code names are divided into two parts. The first part is the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, which are used to define the major categories of weird things. For example, the most difficult 'rule-based weird things' are classified as 'A'. In addition, the category B weird things are 'phenomenon-based', and the three categories of C, D, and E are all 'biological weird things', representing animals, plants, and microorganisms respectively..."
Skinny Bamboo Pole paused for a moment and continued, "Of course, the classification of weird creatures is not so precise. Some 'hybrid' creatures have been discovered in history, such as some animals that have merged with fungi. This depends on the actual situation. Generally speaking, if the fungus part controls the behavior of the animal part, then it belongs to the category of 'Type E weird creature'; if the fungus is just an appendage of the animal body, then it should be classified as 'Type C weird creature'."
"There are also dead object-type weird things. The classification of this type of weird things is more complicated, including tools, buildings, giant objects, and environments... and the boundaries between different categories are sometimes vague, so it requires experts to discuss and then decide.
"As for the second half of the code, it is a simple numerical sequence, representing the order in which the monsters were discovered. Although this sequence does not represent strength, most of the monsters ranked in the top ten are not something that humans can easily provoke. As for the monster number zero, which is considered an 'absolute taboo', it is also called the 'original primary monster'... For example, the 'Dingling Rotten Mother Tree' is the source of all plant-based monsters."
"Is Monster No. 0 the strongest?" a temporary investigator who had just joined the job couldn't help but ask.
"The strength of a monster cannot be measured with a quantifiable value. At most, we can only give it a vague 'danger level'." Skinny Bamboo said, "Monster No. 0 is the 'highest' dangerous... Of course, you can rest assured. I can say that everyone here will never have any intersection with Monster No. 0 in their entire lives."
After saying this, Skinny Bamboo Pole cleared his throat and said, "Okay, I've said everything I need to say. Congratulations, everyone. You are now qualified investigators."
Everyone was suddenly in an uproar.
Sun Hang couldn't help but frown... How come this induction training just started and it's already over?
This is like a game where the tutorial just tells the player that WASD is for moving forward, backward, left and right, the right mouse button is for aiming and the left mouse button is for shooting, and then throws the player directly into a hellish level and says to the player: "You have fully mastered the skills of this game, now try to challenge the final BOSS of this game."
Are you kidding me? !
The temporary investigator who had just asked the question immediately stood up and asked in disbelief, "Is this all there is to the on-the-job training?!"
Skinny Bamboo nodded. "Yes, this is all part of the on-the-job training. You know, strange creatures are very special. When investigating them, experience is not only useless, but sometimes it can even kill you and your teammates. So, whether you are a formal investigator or a temporary investigator, the on-the-job training process is the same."
"But we don't even know what we are going to do!"
"The specific mission objectives and necessary intelligence will be informed to you when you receive the corresponding mission, so there is no need to worry." The thin bamboo pole replied.
"What about weapons training?"
"We will not issue weapons or licenses to non-staff personnel. If you need fire support during the investigation, the accompanying soldiers or sheriffs will provide it."
When temporary investigators are on missions, they will be accompanied by soldiers or sheriffs - these people both assist them and monitor them.
